Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin-Eater!
Thursday, October 12, 2006 by Author
We'll definitely have our thoughts on the cheating controversy later (once we've seen the episode a half-dozen times), but it's obvious it's what everyone wants to talk about, so have at it, fabulous reader. Is Laura just a jealous bitch? Is Jeffrey a lying cheater? Is Uli a passive-aggressive manipulator? Is Tim adorable when he looks stern? O, the drama!
EDITED TO ADD: Here's the preview of next week's show. Notice any suspicious absences?

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 223 of 223 Newer› Newest»Like Jeffrey said "Yeah it's PERFECT, this is fkkking Bryant Park!" Jeffrey brought his game on and Laura can't handle it.
Laura is the only one who looks like an Aszzz in this case.
I'm not sure if Jeffrey cheated or not. Certainly, his hesitation with his receipts might lead one to think "deception." And in my mind sending the shorts out to be pleated is not doing the work yourself. But it is obvious from looking at his workroom that he has done this for a long time and may very well be extremely efficient in designing and sewing. However, when Tim went to visit Jeffrey, did you notice how many outfits he had already completed after only four weeks? And doing all of those outfits and still doing his work for his business. And...when the other finalists were making their changes to their outfits to make sure they fit their models extremely well, Jeffrey didn't seem to have to make any changes, not even the length of a hem. Of course, that also might be the producers doing some very careful editing to keep the audience in suspense. I do think Jeffrey designed all his outfits. He came up with some creative outfits during the regular season. I wonder what the wording is in the Project Runway contract describing what outside help the finalists could use, if any. After this season the producers will possibly be making changes to the contract to make all the rules much more explicit. Bravo for Michael for standing up with Laura. I think Uli should have been more truthful with Jeffrey about her thoughts and feelings. I loved watching this season's show, and I can hardly wait for the next season.

I agree 100%. Uli just stood there as if she hadn't said or done anything.
Jeffrey's win (and he does win) doesn't need justifying.
He outshines, outsews, outstyles everyone else there.
Thank God the desparate last minute conniving of his fellow sore-loser contestants is seen exactly for what it is by the judges.
nothing.
Do you know how rare it is to have someone at work tell you about a concern with you? Hardly ever. They go to a boss or others. You see this happen over and over.
To have someone with the integrity and honesty to admit what they think to your face is incredibly rare.
I work in corporate America and the backbiting is unbelieveable. You rarely see someone with Laura's (and yes, Michael's) willingness to reveal their thoughts directly. It's all sniper attacks.
Tim's pod states that he walked in and approached Laura. She was planning to talk to Jeffrey first but Tim came in.
However, she told Jeffrey soon after what she had said and she didn't embellish or diminish what she said or twist the sword. She said what she needed to say and left it.
Trust me, in 30+ years, I've not seen that before. The woman is a fierce role model.
The shame is the way she is being villified and called a bitch. How very sad.
Even though I do not like Jeffrey because of the way he spoke and treated people earlier, I have to give him credit. He is very gifted and I am glad he has found his passion and his way out of hell. For the sake of his son, I hope he continues to do weel. And he will do well after this, no matter what.
All of these designers have their own vision and aesthetic. Good job!
Bravo Producers on the other hand -- shame on you for manipulating and twisting and throwing red meat -- in the form of other designers -- into the angry mob. It is really not necessary.
I really liked the olive popsicle, too...cheating or not...all of the designers rocked in their own way. what the heck are we going to do after PR ends for the season? (get some work done rather than read this freaking blog...I suppose) I heart you PRG guys
this is going to sound crazy, but jeffrey's response when laura told him what she'd done was off.
i say this only after 16 years of interviewing child molesters. there's a natural response of the not guilty when accused, and jeffrey didn't even come close.
i've lost my touch because i turned into an antiques dealer 5 years ago, but it was off in my book.
but then being a drug addict complicates things too, and i'm not judgin' ~ just sayin' ~ that addicts can lie like no one else. and successfully.
in 12 step programs there's a little comparison that goes around (a joke with a nugget of truth) that an alcoholic and an addict will steal your wallet. it's only the addict, though, who'll call you up to commiserate, then offer to come over and help look for the "lost" wallet.
okay, here endeth my first post in this week of posts and my goodness y'all have been busy! i take one day off to do an estate sale and lookatcha ~ all wrought up and emotional over wednesday's show ;-) smooches, prguys & fans
I think Laura was out of line and bitter over Jeffrey's designs. She indicated that she would do anything that kept Jeffrey from winning. She hung on by a wing and a prayer on a few of those challenges, her designs being old and typical. jeffery does this for a living and has celebrity clients where Laura is a designer want to be. Jeffey produced more of what the judges liked than Laura and looking back I don't recall anyone saying anything about unfinsihed details on the garments, whatever they had an issue with was basically the design itself. I didn't exactly care for Jeffrey's attitude toward the other designers but Laura was sneaky and down right vindictive. His final line should look the way it does, he's use to working under a deadline for his clients. he wants this as bad as the others and you heard him say that he got very little sleep over the 8 weeks that he had. And after last season with the add in of the 13th garment I too would have been completely prepared for anything. Notice how Michael basically only had sketches when Tim visited? Don't ostracize Jeffrey for his business location, the area that he has along with the machinery he has. Laura needs to get a life and forgo the raging hormones of pregnancy. They all should be ashamed of themselves for going thru his collection when he wasn't there. Jeffrey said he had been working on his other line he never said he was sewing it. If he has employees or help who is to say that it was the project runway collection they worked on as opposed to his business line??? leave the guy alone, he did a great job if you like his style of clothes.
Love Laura, not a huge Jeffrey fan (mainly cause he oozes rage,) but I have really liked some of his work. Regarding his collection being so finished that he seemed to have nothing left to do, I wanted to add the following:
Some styles of clothing (very fitted, body-hugging, constructed without spandex/stretchy fabrics which provide 'instant' fit to the body) require lots of last minute alteration to the specific body wearing the outfit, (waist, bust, hems, closures, etc.) Looser, more free-flowing garments need much less last minute fit to the models. If most of Jefferey's collection was spandex, or unstructered, he wouldn't need much fitting for a standard size 2 or 4 model.
I do some costume work in my biz, and when I have little time to dress and style talent at a show, I do Major prep prior to show, eliminating fit issues using lots of stretch material, adjustable pre-sewn closure styles (like a wrap dress, that fits anyone.)
I'm just saying that by your design choices, you can eliminate lots of last-minute stitching and fitting. And of course, having a totally professional shop with all the right equiptment on hand is a huge help in working quickly and finishing that work with professional seams, details, etc.
I don't know the detail's of what Laura saw that made her uncomfortable...but I also remember some board buzz about "her mom and Jeff's mom talking...and how Jeff had so much left to do, ETC." So, what she heard from her mom may have colored an expectation of Jeff being in trouble, rather than more 'finished' than any designer in PR history. Frankly, in their shoes, I would do every possible thing in advance that I could to finish prior to Bryant Park, including designing stuff that needed almost no alterations (one size fits all-ish.) So, coming in done, as Jeffrey did, makes total sense to me.
What I thought was interesting was we saw in the show Jeffery was going to have all of his models wear wigs and have the same hair style since he wanted them to be blank canvases. I was just looking at the pictures from Bryant Park and the models don't have blond wigs on or have the same hair style. Made me think...
i think that everyone ragging on Uli for not speaking up should try cutting her a little slack -- after all she lived in East Germany until her late teens. A place where rocking the boat or getting involved in a controversy could have VERY serious consequences.
spread the word.... there's no hanger on the cliff! Jeffrey's in the final, everybody, and all you need to do is go to the bravo website, and watch the video clip of tim behind the scenes at the tents. watch to the end, and guess who you will see backstage, working on his stuff? Jeffrey! Whoops, bravo!
Did anyone check out the designs on Olympus Fashion Week?
I noticed that some of the designs from all four of Project Runway finalists were shown...including Jeff. Thought you might like to take a peak for yourself.
Should prove to be an interesting show next week. The previews indicate the expulsion of Jeff but the designs displayed at Olympus seem to scatch that idea. I wonder ...could they show Jeff's designs and him not be included in the competition...I think not.
"...jeffery does this for a living and has celebrity clients..."
Ooooooooooooh! Celebrity clients. Well then, he MUST be beyond reproach. Zzzzzzzzzzzz...

You know...I was about to rant about the nasty comments that were left about Laura, but I decided to chill for a couple a days before posting any message. First off:
Laura wasn't jealous of Jeff's collection; she received the same complements from Timm G. , her collection was as good or even better than his. We only saw 15 minutes of what has been going on for months. Being able to finish 12 well made outfits in 2 months seems quite possible since Laura made originally 17 and discarded the 5 weakest. Laura based her accusation from a phone call between her mom and Jeff's mom at the 4 week mark and there was a comment that Jeff hasn't even started; then Tim G. visits and comments that Jeff had a lot to do and that his collection was very ambicious. Jeff shows up with his collection and doesn't have as many if any alterations.
I'm surprised that Michael and Uli fans aren't supporting Laura because they had the same thought going through their minds and the possible outcome can affect dramatically the judging. If he's innocent he really has noooothing to fear.
Why get all violent about it? If Jeff wins, what? If he loses? Is he going to share his money with his fans? If someone wants to purchase his designs, just go to his website. He already got what he needed, exposure.
I'm on Laura and Michel's side
Regardless of whether Jeffrey is guilty or innocent, the seed was planted and has tarnished his reputation.
No more cliff hangers---EVER!!!!
It's funny how if you like Jeffrey or Jeffrey's work, your suddenly looney. (Well as a person with a B.A. in Journalism, who worked at ABC-TV in NY and E!-Entertainment in Los Angeles, then lived in Paris and visited Milan for the fashion shows,I can tell you, I'm hardly looney.)
Anonymous too,
I understand that people want to side with their favorites but it is very distasteful to let it deteriorate into name calling, class baiting. Laura is rich and a WASP, so she's just a jealous bitch and poor Jeffery has an Italian name so he is automatically the underdog and deserving of sympathy. I have friends who have overcome alcohol and drug abuse and addictions and they don't use it to get sympathy. They have owned the problems and moved on. Jeffery's supporters should do that also. Supporting someone doesn't mean verbally abusing someone else.

"Laura was acting like the Rich-Spoiled-Lady who was "outsewn" by the poor kid acroos town."
One of the problems with this statement is that Jeffrey in not a poor kid from across town. He is from a prestigeous Diamond Bar LA area. A poster named DavidChris posted this at TWOP:

I was hesitant to say what I knew. I'm not bashing Jeff, so let me be more clear. It was a very long time ago that Jeff & I were friends and lovers. I remember him as being a great guy - a bit confused, but all of us in that crowd were. Trust me, I'm no saint.
My frustration comes from how abusive he seems to be on the show. Perhaps you that have said he's playing to the cameras or under direction of the producers are correct. I was and am very disappointed to see how mean he is to Angela and her mom. No, Angela is not my favorite person, but for crying out loud, she doesn't deserve the abuse. Her mother certainly does not.
So, when I see Jeff acting like he came from some poverty stricken abusive background and uses it as an excuse to hurt others - it pisses me off. Maybe he's changed. Maybe his life choices made him a bitter, hateful person. I just know that's not the guy I knew. He did have a heart of gold and was a wonderful friend.

Okay, now I'm going to puke. I knew Jeff when he was in his late teens/early twenties. He was NOT, I repeat NOT abused by an alcoholic father. His dad was a dick. However, Jeff's mom remarried an insurance salesman when Jeff was 9. His mom was/is a successful real estate agent. He grew up in a lovely home in Diamond Bar. He and his younger bro & sis would visit the "horrid" bio-dad every other weekend.
Yes, he experimented with drugs. He created his own hell. He told me when we were about 18 that he was running away to San Diego to become a homeless drug addict. Yes, he went to rehab. Fuck, who didn't in the late 80s. By NO means was he abused by anyone but himself. All of this "poor me. I had such a hard life" bullshit is getting on my nerves.
He went to an exclusive design school for god's sake. Who do you guys think paid for that - his Hell's Angel dad? I think not! I'm personally disgusted by Jeff's fake persona on this show. This is all a bunch of crap so he can get attention for his clothing line - sad that it's working. "
I don't understand why all the talk about PR's last episode regarding Jeffrey and Bryant Park vs. Laura's statement.
We all saw Jeffrey showing so what is there to talk about?
Drama, drama, drama. Welcome to the world of fashion.
