Previews, Poodles!

Screw the previews. We'll get to that in a minute. Meanwhile, on Jay's blog...

"This week i watched the show at my pals tom and lorenzo's house. they invited me over to watch the show, primarily, but to also do some hardcore dishing. oh my...if y'all only knew all of the juicy stuff we discussed. jealousy. we drank plenty of red wine and ate vegan cookies and chilled with the cats and toms sister's gay dog. it was a lot of fun."

Nice going, Jay. That dog isn't out to his family yet.

Coming up on Project Runway...

Rami is stiff!
VictorYA is emotionless!
Jillian is overwhelmed!
Ricky is a crying-ass bitch!
Sweet P is NOT KIT!!!!

Oh, and ...

LOL. You bitches are hilarious!

OK, I officially hate VictorYA. I know she's not going anywhere, but wouldn't it be great if Heidi uttered the words "VictorYA, you outfit sucked, you're OUT!"?

Mom said...

Dog's not out yet. There's my Monday morning guffaw. All will be right with the world today!

As for these previews, yikes! Very confusing. But, my gawd, VictorYA takes passive-aggressiveness to new levels, calling Sweet P by Kit's name twice, and seemingly not the least bit disconcerted about it. That's just...mean.

Just got an idea...maybe if I don't select Ricky as my auf candidate this time, then he finally will be!

How is Nina a total bitch here? She gives plenty of positive feedback.

I don't understand the hate on Nina. A lot of the stuff that's put up on the runway simply isn't that good. She points it out.

Jay also refers to the "Gotham Tomato Apartments" (where the designers live) in his blog!! How 'bout that GT? A shout out from Big J.

Stubenville said...

Hmmm... random undercaffeinated musings;

How will Rami drape recycled denim?

Too bad Kevin was auf'd before this challenge; didn't he design a denim line?

I know everyone and their gay dog wants to see Ricky auf'd, but I bet it's somebody else this week. I fear for Sweet P, but I bet she will be gracious when she leaves.

Nina is a mixed bag - I think she is inconsistent in her criticism but it is generally constructive in that she says what she thought the designer should have done. The Duchess tends to just revel in his own clever quips without offering much feedback. It's too M-O-T-B.

Must. Have. More. Caffeine.

I hope your wrong. I can't stand all the crying. It's just to much really, every once in a while he should just be a man.

This is also the stupidest challenge yet.

Anonymous said...

Wow--and no one has commented on Heidi's awesome, gravity-defying boobage yet?

Cry, Ricky! Cry! Maybe all of his tears could collectively wash some emotion out of VictorYA.

You are soooooooooooo hilariously funny. I don't know how you keep doing it

PS. I have a funny feeling Victorya is getting auf'd - the personal details about her mom? The Bravo editing has been so retardedly obvious this season.

I agree. The already did a re-design existing garment challenge in which a lot of the designers had to use denim. Plus Jillian already did a denim collection. Feh.

Ps. I would be very much obliged if someone could give a brief overview of what is going on in the videos. I can't run fast enough in my hampster wheel to view them.

GothamTomato said...

Sadly, the only hardcore dishing I did this week was to rearrange my Fiestaware. Sigh.

But hmmm...Victorya talking about her Mom; is this to throw us off and make us think she's going to be auf'd? And poor Ricky, he is sounding so, 'does this make my butt look big?' Poor guy. And note: Am I the only person to notice that SweetP started dressing like Jillian?

--GothamTomato

P.S.- I only wish my apartment was as big as the ones on the show.

Dang, Stubenville, you beat me to it!! My very first thought was how Rami could make a Wild West Goddess! Instead of the one shoulder of twisted fabric, he could use a lariat!
You go, Rami!

CPK beat me to it! It looks like Victorya is getting the "Auf" edit this week. I hate to wish my life away, but I can't wait to see this episode! =D

Jenn said...

Ah, but the producers are jerking us around with the "auf" edit this season.

Though my heart sings with joy at the prospect of VictorYa leaving! How self-absorbed can you be, Kit and Sweet P look NOTHING alike. That's pretty bitchy, folks.

Anonymous said...

So, what do y'all think: have the challenges and judging been more indicative of the "search for America's next COMMERCIAL SUCCESS"?

I just keep getting a heavier "marketability vs artistry" vibe this season.

Certainly could be just my perception...interested to hear what you guys think.

Every time I'm about to say something witty, somebody already posted it. But' s'ok. Is still funny for myself on my head. :)

I worry for Chris. His face does not look happy on the runway.

I really wish this time they weren't screwing around with us and it WAS VictorYA's official auf editing.

Ricky. Yeah. Somebody should put a broom behind the door (it is said to make unwanted guests go away). Jeebus.

I will never look at high thread count pillowcases the same ...

Really! The girls were out there, weren't they?

Paying attention to Nina's gaze, you can just about determine to which designer she is speaking.

The problem with Ricky's tears, in a promo, is that you can never tell if they are tears of joy or sadness. Maybe he finally has something they love? .... or not.

Can hardly wait.

Also, I am so totally there with begassbelle re. the vegan cookies - I've been that route -- I just couldn't kid myself anymore that it really tasted good! :-)

Yawn! That's to the challenge, not to your fabulous post! Nina may be a beeyotch, but Heidi's outfit makes her look like Mother Jugs.

LMAO on outing the gay dog! Awww, maybe there's a support group somewhere.. (I have a gay cat btw)

I think this challenge looks tres interesting, can't wait!

Now gotta go read Jay's blog. Wonder if it's gonna become a regular thing you fellas watching together.

But I have to ask "vegan cookies"??? You absolutely can NOT be vegan for one reason. THERE IS NO VEGAN MERINGE!!!! (that I know of)

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

I predict Ricky will win this challenge--the look on his face during the judging, then the crying that this is like a rollercoaster and you don't know if you suck or not. It just sounds like he is gushing about winning to me.

Anonymous said...

It was nice to see Rami w/ his arm around Sweet P walking down the stairs after last week's challenge. I think she's just so charming that she could win over most any curmudgeon (I credit his display of affection to her is what I'm sayin).

Anonymous said...

BRYANNA’S VEGAN “MERINGUE” TOPPING:

1 and 1/3 tsp. agar powder (or 2 T. + 2 tsp. agar flakes) mixed with 1/4 c. cold water
3/4 c. cold water
1/2 c. EnerG egg replacer powder (only this one will whip up sufficiently)
1/2 c. light unbleached or white beet sugar
4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon extract

Mix the agar and water in a small saucepan and let sit for about 5 minutes. Stir over medium heat until it simmers, then allow to simmer 1 minute.

In a deep medium bowl, beat the egg replacer and 3/4 c. water in a small, deep bowl, with electric mixer on HI. Use a small or large stand mixer, a handheld elcectric mixer or egg beater, or a beater attachment (whire whip type) for a food processor or immersion blender, You have to beat it for for 12 minutes (yes, 12!!), or until thick, white, and forms peaks. Beat in the sugar, vanilla and lemon extract, then the cooked agar mixture. Beat well to distribute the agar evenly. When smooth and glossy, cool it in the refrigerate. It will firm up. Beat it again briefly, then pile the mixture around the edge of the cooled pie (remove any paper or plastic covering ), leaving the edge of the crust and the center showing. Make little “peaks” in the "meringue" with the back of a spoon. Refrigerate until ready to serve.(This will keep only a day.)

Did anyone notice Rami had his arm around Sweet P going down the stairs? Was it affection? Was he thinking of pushing her?

Also, this crew of misfits has grown on me like moss on a rock.

denim? a denim challenge? blahhhhh.

I just finished watching all of season 2 for the first time and it's ever so much more interesting than season 4. it might just be my raging crush on Daniel V talking, but still: the challenges seemed more interesting and aesthetically challenging (and pleasing in the results).

I wonder if the producers are disappointed in having two such robotic tedious designers as VictorYa and Jillian?

and i got NO idea who's going home this week.....i wish it was rami and his smug-ass self. he's getting on my nerves.

finding the filth said...

i'm gonna guess victorya for the auf this time. she's getting the loser's edit with that personal talking head & the chatter about being uninspired for this challenge. she may have won a couple, but she's also been in the bottom a few times. one more wack-a-doo garment and nina's likely to lay into her.

the win? no clue. looks like ricky finally gets some compliments for his work (but still manages to turn on the waterworks - yay!), rami drapes denim, and jillian's got some jacket that looks a lot like what she just made in the last challenge.

as long as sissybear & princess are safe, i could care less what happens to anyone else.

i so hope victorya is getting out soon, she's so damn annoying
esp. with that whole team situation but then when jillian was her partner she didn't have a hissy-fit

and ricky, dude seriously he makes the competition more than it really is like he's going to die if he doesn't win (go back to episode 1 when the designers are at bryant park)

just because andre cried (ONCE!) does not make it okay for you to cry, and he cries over the dumbest things too like omg the model is going home, boo hoo

and christian seems to care less about his hair from the way it looked on the runway in the preview. needs a little work

Yes, true, I read that Oreos recently switched from animal shortening to vegetable shortening (so they're finally kosher). But if I dunk them in milk, are they still vegan?

Denim challenge sounds like a perfect product placement for Levis. Naw, maybe Jordache or Chic jeans. I think Christian a.k.a Rooster wears Chic jeans in every episode.

I have the horrible feeling that audra1976 is right and that Ricky's weeping on the runway this time is because he wins, or at least gets praise, and feels at last like he truly belongs.

Where can we see this yahoo preview??? D'you have a link, nibs?

I like the way you can catch glimpses of some of the outfits in the second preview, while the models are next to the designers on the runway. That was possible last time too, but I could never have imagined what that... stuff... was hovering over Christian's head.

Anonymous said...

Oh, this is scary. Neither Chris nor Christian looks at all happy on the runway. Christian looks especially deflated. Plus, Ricky's dress is that SAME. LTTLE. BABYDOLL. he always makes, and can he be getting praised for that?

Heidi's "this time we'd like to talk to all of you" is *gulp*, but fun -- at last we'll get a critique of each design.

anna, which "first image makes it look like Rami is flying into the frame from the left"? I've looked at both previews and don't see this.

Mike B. said...

For those keeping score: this is now eight consecutive challenges without a completely conventional make-a-dress. The producers obviously have no confidence that we'll be interested in what the designers do if they don't stick their own paws into every single challenge and make them all crazy in some way.

Bad season. Just terrible.

Anonymous said...

Mike B. said...

That's because it's not a make-a-dress competition. It's a design competition.

More importantly, it's a reality TV show.

Anonymous said...

I agree...it looks like VictorYa gets the loser's edit. Remember, Tim said that there was an aufing that would shock everyone and I don't think it was Kevin's.

Christian is safe because he has immunity from last week.

I REALLY don't like them picking on my sissybear....dangit...
I'm worried about him though....

Anonymous said...

NO way in hell Rickey gets auf'ed this week. From that video, combined with the one on the show, you can CLEARLY tell that Ricky is in the TOP 3, not the bottom 3. He is crying because they FINALLY SAID SOMETHING NICE about his stuff, and he's just overwhelmed (ie: "its been such a roller coatser"). I dont' know if he wins, btu I'm sure he's not out.

The negative comments were directed to THEIR (the judges) far right -- so Sweet P and Chris look likely to be in trouble. Judging by the crappy comments some auf'ed designers said about Chris being allowed in the contest makes me believe that he continues on and Sweet P is out. :-(

Remember, that if Chris basically came back in and was an also-ran, everyone would be like "feh.." But Jack, Kit, and CHRISTIAN all said negative things about Chris being allowed in (some in the Burning Questions blog), and Chris himself said in his interview of that "red bow" dress that THAT was the challenge that he really found himself -- that the judges wouldn't accept costume from him. I think he goes all the way to the final 5 or 4.

IMO.

kittens not kids said...

actually, i think Oreos are not vegan - i think they contain gelatin. (i could be wrong, since it's been about seven years since i last checked).

gelatin is not vegan.

however. some vegan cookies can be good, if you like those kinds of cookies. personally, i like very buttery sugary cookies, so no-vegan.

also, hardcore vegans eschew refined white sugar, which means most store-bought packaged cookies are out.

the burning question is: WHY vegan cookies? is Jay vegan?

I watched the 'En Garde' recap video again and I get the queasy feeling that YaYa saw an opportunity to throw Jillian under a bus when the designers were told by Tim that they needed to create an additional RTW look:

Jillian as well had not completely finished her coat. I have no idea if we we're going to be able to even start the second look. That will certainly mean that we will be in the bottom.

YaYa took TWO days to make those heinous jhodpurs and add frou-frou to the back of a blouse that was covered by a coat leaving Jillian to whip up the RTW look?

Convenient that YaYa had immunity, huh?

I bet Jay is vegan, as he wiped the floor with Kara Saun and her blood collection using naught but wit, knit and charming innovation.

As for vegan cookies, I'd like to weigh in. Fat is fat. It matters not whether you use butter or vegan margarine- just as it doesn't matter whether you use Crisco or manteca. Vegan baked goods are/can be as/MORE delicious than butter filled ones. And, they're cruelty-free.

For truly decadent vegan desserts, I would recommend "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World" by the Post Punk Kitchen chicas for some truly orgasmic little cakes.
