Preview: Chris vs. Rami

Wednesday, February 27, 2008 by
Well kittens, tonight's the night. Will it be Golden Boy or Sissy Bear who gets to compete at Bryant Park?

For the final time this season (*sniff*) we ask you: Who's in and who's auf?

As much as I adore Chris, based on the 3 strongest pirces from each collection I have to go with Rami.

Much as I love me some SissyBear, I think we all know the answer to this one.

Anonymous said...

I like Chris. But, as one of the few who has nothing against Rami, based on the strength of his collection, I hope Rami wins. I want this to be about fashion, not about who is the most popular!

We all know it's Rami, but...
VIVA LA SISSYBEAR!

Anonymous said...

Rami's definitely OUT!

I am glad to see that Heidi's little siver Oscar party dress is so versatile-- put a little black jacket over it and you can wear it to work.

Anonymous said...

In my dreams it's SissyBear.

Chris is in ... I Know it!!

(I never call him SissyBear . . . think it's as stupid as it is insulting.)

i can't believe the finale is already here. didn't this season start like yesterday?
it went super fast!!!!! I'm definitely gonna miss it.
TLO, what are you planning to do in the site after season 4 is over? one thing is to miss the show once a week, but another (even worse) it's to think that I won't have any reason to come to your site every day!! (I can't even imagine!!!!).

With a heavy heart, I say Chris is out.

Now let's hope I'm clapping with shock tonight when he's in.

I hope it will be Chris, but I have my doubts.

Looks like Jillian is assisting Rami and I assume PPS will be Sissybear's ASSISTANT. That alone will be worth watching.

Go Sissybear!

TopCat said...

It's blatantly obvious to me after looking at the collections. Rami is in.
I feel confident that the judges will see it also.

I know Chris is a nice guy, but this is not the Fan Favorite competition all over again.
This is a clothing and fashion competition and Rami should win hands down.

It is nice that they both got to show their collections anyway.

Anonymous said...

I know who it's going to be, but the judges might have a change of heart in the last second due to the crack they've been smoking, sooo... GO CHRIS! :D

Anonymous said...

Sorry Chrissy-poo, but I want to see Rami's full collection on TV walk down the runway next week.

From what I've seen in photographs Rami's looks unique and very beautiful. I'm hoping for my stud Rami. :)

GothamTomato said...

I'm still hoping that Bravo does a spin off with Ramilicious & Sissybear as the new crime fighting duo (ala Starsky & Hutch).

I think it was always in the cards that Rami would be in, but I do sooooooo hope that Chris shows at least one of his human hair trimmed outfits, because I want to see the critique on THAT.

Rami will win. ; (

I loves me some SissyBear, too, but this isn't his gig.

I have not been a fan of this entire season of PR. Christian and Chris provided the only highlights, and that's not enough to keep me tuned in.

Anonymous said...

Golden Grecian Boy was destined for Top 3 since day one. As much as I'd wish it otherwise he's in.

Bleech.

I think Chris has 3 looks as strong as any of Rami's drapey stuff again - Rami's gowns were beautiful, but predictable and boring, which got him beat up by the judges. And his other dresses - just UGH!! Short, draped dresses - they were ugly AND boring!! One newspaper reporter even said on video that his zippers were broken on the models going down the runway at Bryant Park.

Chris had the last black gown that went down the runway, the print gowns and one of the hair dresses was cool.

Having said that, I know the judges will go for their favorite boy, Rami, who should have been thrown off for that disgusting mess he made in the wrestling challenge and that boring dress he made for the Art challenge. He has gotten a second chance over and over.

If Chris is out, I am not watching the finale. How predicable! I could have told you Christian, Rami and Jillian from the comments the judges made the first few weeks. It seems rigged. I doubt I will watch next year, as there is some serious nonsense going on.

Gorgeous Things said...

Sigh....

Rami, not Sissybear.

On another note, what the HELL is Heidi wearing? I want to hear your critique of that look, darlings!

Anonymous said...

In my heart, I know Chris is out and I am ok with it. Somewhere along the way of his disappointing showing at the last challenge and last weeks show I have found myself off Chris. It feels like his 15 minutes of fame is over and I find myself wondering how I got sucked into it. I guess the opium haze of reality tv is starting to lift.

Anonymous said...

I think Rami had some of the most boring, ugly things that went down the runway at Bryant Park, but there's no way that his evening looks can loose to any of Chris' stuff.

Anonymous said...

Although I am no fashion expert, it looks to me that Chris had a stronger point of view and statement than Rami. Rami's dresses are beautiful but nothing we have not seen before. And he kept draping!

SissyBear on the other hand, is showing something unexpected and very different from what he did during the entire season.

Still, I think the judges/producers wanted Rami all along in the finals, so I am pretty sure he will make it to the final three. At least Chris got to show his collection at Fashion Week when no one in the public knew who were the final three.

Congratulations Sissy Bear, we love you!!

Christos

I think my choice is clear, so I'll just leave it at that.

Anonymous said...

Looking at both collections, and assuming they pulled 3 pieces from those collections, then I am sure Chris is going to win. His is more fashion-forward and in-line with current trends.

Rami's collection is matronly and dated, stale even. This choice has nothing to do with personal favorites and all to do with the clothing. Chris is right there on the cutting edge.

Anonymous said...

RAMI!!
My fingers are crossed for him!

I'm hoping for another towel or booty shot please!

Also, I couldn't disagree more with 'marie', Rami's collection was artist, creative, varied, wearable and beautiful.

Anonymous said...

chris's is "cutting edge"??
cutting edge of what?

lol!! sorry.....just too funny.

Suzanne said...

Sadly, its kind of a no brainer.

Love you Sissy Bear- call me!

Anonymous said...

I really want it to be Chris ( at least his stuff has character) but I have a bad feeling it will be "The Draper"

Anonymous said...

COME ON CHRIS YOU DARK HORSE YOU!!!!

Anonymous said...

Just like they waffled deciding on the final three, I'm thinking the judges won't be able to make up their minds again. Therefore, both Chris & Rami will show!

Anonymous said...

Wait, what's up with Nina's hair? What's with the bang trend? Not Nina too!

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Dorothy Zbornak (what? was that only me?)...Rami's sweater! total Shady Pines memorial-service-with-Ma look, from what I could see.

I love me an unusual sweater but that looked...elderly.

Anonymous said...

I've got to go with Rami. When he's given the time and resources to be more meticulous about his work, his technical skills shine. While I like to see collections from designers who push the envelope and Rami doesn't really go there, I don't think anything from Chris's self professed "kooky" collection could hold a candle to Rami's white and gold lace or black tiered red carpet gown. Will be interesting to see what the judges think of Rami's work outside of the red carpet stunners. As for Chris, it seems to me that Chris hasn't really found his voice as a designer with his collection. It has an obvious theme with the goth vibe, but I don't really feel like that goth vibe is represenative of Chris March's point of view.

And on a more random note, is Heidi rocking some leather leggings?

Anonymous said...

I'm crossing my fingers that we see some surprises during the finale.

Am I the only one who thinks its a little hinky that the judges will be seeing and judging some of the finale looks before the actual runway show?

bitchesdye said...

It's all a moot point anyway, since Jillian's & Christian's collections were much better. This would not be happening if not for Roberto Cavalli, and there's your answer.

I agree with whoever said above that the finalists were a foregone conclusion. That was apparent when they auf'd Kevin, and he even confirmed it on the reunion show. Christian will take it no matter what.

Anything is possible on this show, so why not this? It would be great to see both Rami and Chris in the final final.

This past Sunday, NY Times Style Magazine for Spring 2008 had a whole section titled Toga Land, with draped dresses by Lanvin, Givenchy, Ferretti, and Hermes among others. Could Rami be on the cutting edge?

Mom said...

So many arguments for and against each one exist, so I really am not sure.

SPOILER ALERT>>>>
Pro-Rami getting picked to show: his 3 strongest looks (if he chose correctly) are probably stronger than Chris's; Chris's intro speech at the final runway was just as emotional as decoy Sweet P's; the judges' seeming bias toward his experience

Pro-Chris: Rami's reportedly blase' and lackluster intro speech at the final runway; Rami's broken zippers on that runway may indicate indifference; the judges' increasing frustration with Rami's draping

So it seems as if it's Rami's spot to lose, and I dunno, I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that he does.

You know, it really bothers me that I have to strain my brain this much to generate some dramatic tension here.

harleyd said...

Rami will win tonight. His collection is just more refined, cohesive, and just plain Rami (especially because Chris used BROWN hair on those dark blue coats...talk about ugly).

I like Chris, but this collection doesn't really reflect the style we have seen all season...which begs the question: Does he really have his own style when it comes to non-costumy pieces???

Anonymous said...

Rami has got to be IN! I love his collection and hope he wins. I also really respect him as a confident designer, with finesse and his own vision.
He had no broken zippers, don't listen to the BS. lol! That was a faker told to slant.

Rami, I hope to watch you win tonight! I'm rooting for you!

Anonymous said...

bitchesdye, I have to disagree with your assement "this would not be happening if not for Roberto Cavalli."

This whole showdown was planned from the get go. Think about it...a double elimination in the final challenge? Why did they bring Chris March back to replace Jack, then? They could have just made the final challenge a single elimination episode.

(After all, they eliminated a planned double auf when Keith Michael was sent home from PR3 in order to produce the proper number of episodes.)

They brought back Chris precisely so that this Finale Part One conceit could work. My guess is that ratings for Part One historically aren't as strong as for Part Wwo -- there's no drama, no elimination ("Will Wendy's child be a brat?" "Will Jeffrey's son have a neck tattoo?"). So, they squeezed one more elimination out of it....in the first part of the finale. I'm willing to bet that this was planned before the cameras even rolled, and before the designers were cast.

And before anyone says "they brought Chris back so that poor woman could have a dress made for her!" that's not really a valid point. Bravo could have just as easily filmed the tearful goodbye between Jack and his model. Ratings gold, I tells ya!!

Anonymous said...

My instincts tell me that Rami is in, but did anyone else find it strange how deliberately the editing "wanted" us to think that Chris was out? From Rami's smug expressions, to how the editing shot to Chris' somewhat forlorn face after any criticisms were levied...I don't know, it made me think that maybe the outcome won't be as we all expect it.

Also, does anybody know what the logistics of this were? Did Rami and Chris finish their whole collections and then choose the best 3 looks for this judging? Or did they complete the three looks first and then go off to finish the rest of the collections?

kath said...

Oh, this is an obvious one. Of course the producers had to manufacture some drama at the end. People expect it from Bravo by now. You gave away the answer right in your second sentence. "Golden Boy" is in, Chris is out.

Anonymous said...

I don't think them bringing Chris back was planned. I think the producers took advantage of an opportunity when it came up with Jack.

They have said on the blogs that when Chris was auf'd the public went crazy over it and wanted him back because he clearly was a favorite. So when Jack left, they brought him back to please the fans.

Anonymous said...

You people give up too easily and cave in to what you think the judges will do. I still think Chris has just a good a chance as Rami. I actually think he can beat him.

Anonymous said...

anon 3:16 said: They have said on the blogs that when Chris was auf'd the public went crazy over it and wanted him back because he clearly was a favorite. So when Jack left, they brought him back to please the fans.

There's no way that could have happened. "Project Runway" isn't shown live...Chris was brought back months before his "fans" had ever heard of him.

Anonymous said...

I wish it were Chris, his 12 pieces would be more risky, but based on the rather smug look on Rami's face in this preview, it must be Rami.

sigh....

let's start the show!

Anonymous said...

Chris I'm sorry you're out, that mean's Rami you're in my bed....ah!...I mean in.

Go Ramilicious!

Anonymous said...

Rami? Not make it to Bryant Park? Pittle. I'd like to see Chris get the chance, not just because he'd probably benefit more from serious exposure, but because, well, he's Chris! He's funny and he does have a dramatic flare. Oh well, SissyBear, you gave it a heck of a fight :)

My, my, Anne ... how confident you are. Kevin "confirmed" on the reunion show that the finalists were a "foregone conclusion?" I don't think so.

Christian may very well win, but it won't be because it's a "foregone conclusion". And I couldn't disagree more with your opinion of Jillian's collection. I hope she comes in third so you can eat your words. I hope she comes in third to CHRIS so you can eat them twice.

Then maybe you will realize how foolish it is to act so cocksure and speak so condescendingly about your "foregone conclusion."

We shall see ...

I definitely hope Rami. I mean, he's obviously kind of better. I think it's funny that even though Chris was already voted off, he made it this far. Chris is entertaining and he's okay and everything, but I don't understand why everyone loves him so much.

Anonymous said...

I think it's been in the stars from the beginning--Rami, Christian and Jillian. Chris was just a bone thrown to those of us who had predicted the results early on. And I think Jillian takes home all the marbles. Whatever the outcome is I love, love, love Project Runway and always hate to see a season end.

Anonymous said...

I think Rami is in- based on the graciousness and kindness shown to Chris at the reunion show- it's easier to be gracious when you are the winner, rather than the loser. Also, Chris looked so pissed in that TLo photo recap when Christian won fan favorite- a sort of "Not again!" look.

Of course, this assumes they knew at the reunion who made final 3:)

I've grown to like Rami, so it's not personality contest to say I think Chris will win this round.

They know he'll put on a good show.

I'm assuming they expect the main contest will be between Christian and Jillian so why not go for the show?

-- desertwind

PS - Chris's blue silkscreened St. Therese dress is best in show!

Anonymous said...

There's something mysterious about Rami. I don't know, maybe in his eyes.
I like Chris and I get him, but I want to see more of Rami, there's something about him that intrigues me.

Anonymous said...

Rami it is, but look at the bigger picture. They found each other! I was shouting at the screen for them to get a room already during the otherwise turgid reunion show.

So who cares? Chris may not be a fashion designer, but he is a superb costumer, and I fully expect him to get some major Broadway commissions out of this. And Rami will continue his serial draping, making some tasteful, lovely, and sometimes awesomely beautiful clothes. (And sometimes making something with one wonky breast from a fabric the color of the toilet bowl contents the night after that seriously bad tequila binge).

It's all good.

Unknown said...

As much as I'd like to try to predict the mini-show and the finale results, I know it's pointless.

There is zero transparency in the judging on this show. The little blurb they run at the end of the credits does say the results are made with the input of the producers. Not to be cynical, but to be realistic, their responsibilities (including Heidi) are to ratings and not fashion.

Honestly, none of us can really know all the input that goes into the decision for the finale or even for each challenge.

I have a question for the group:

do any of you ladies watch America's Next Top Model?

And is Chris's first model the villainess from cycle 9, Bianca? Or is it just the very short hair that is making me think so? Bianca was one mean, silly, skinny, beautiful bitch!

Anonymous said...

Why was that question directed only to ladies? Don't you think some of us boys watch that show?

Anonymous said...

Rami's style bores the living daylights out of me after seeing it this season - especially during the Bryant Park show.

With Chris, at least, you're never quite sure what you'll get and mostly what you get is better than Rami's endless one-note style.

I don't care who is more personally popular - in the end it's about the clothes. And Rami maintains a high standard of snooze.

Honestly. I really think they've lost me after this season, whoever is in the actual finals.

Between Project Runway Canada and a reviving Project Catwalk, next year's designers have three weeks to get me and if they don't, the channel (or torrent search) gets switched to one of the other Project offsprings.

Anonymous said...

sissybear, i hope. i remember liking his goth-inspired collection.

Zander, forgive me, I suppose I assumed that, and should not have. What guy wouldn't want to watch young women run around in their underwear and be judged by Tyra Banks? A thousand pardons!

Anonymous said...

Has anyone else noticed that Rami has a pumpkin head? He reminds me of Charlie Brown, he is Charlie Brown in the flesh. If they were to do a live action Peanuts, he would be a shoe-in for Charlie Brown.

Anonymous said...

But seriously, ladies, gentlemen, kittens and poodles, is that Bianca in that long blue dress by Chris?

Anonymous said...

Actually I am as queer as they come, but I love watching the show. I love the model catfights, I love Miss Jay. I love the drama.

You know when Tyra is holding a picture with only one person going through, she sure can draw that out can't she?

Anonymous said...

I am not sure if that is Bianca or not.

Laura, you are so right. She talks so slow, I just want to jump through the TV and slap her and make her reveal that picture. lol.

I read some comments about Chris' collection over at televisionwithoutpity, and they gave me some insight into his designs, since I am not that knowledgeable about fashion, at all!

Someone was saying that with the Goth, he was referencing the history of the Goth style, and 1910 to 1930ish with the yak hair. He took an old style, twisted it, and made it new. She/he sounded knowledgeable, and it made sense to me, that whole over-the-top Roaring 20s, where the rules were few.

If that is the case, and Nina picks up on it, then I think Chris will get it tonight. Coupled with the comments I read from some blogger during the actual show where she hated it, but said Nina was smiling the whole time Chris' clothes were on the runway, and that Rami was pissy and his clothes had broken zippers and were not up to his usual standards, I change my mind and think that maybe Chris did make it.

Anonymous said...

yes, it's Bianca in that so beautiful dress by Chris. (my favorite dress in all 5 runway collections) And Jaslene, winner of ANTM cycle 7 i believe is in Jillian's show in the black and silver dress that I don't terribly care for.
I want Chris to go to the finale because I liked his runway show better than Rami's. That's all.

Anonymous said...

Despite Chris being heavily pampered by the judges all season, and despite the fact that he's a likable tv personality, Im pulling for Rami. His collection is simply outstanding.

Anonymous said...

anon 5:55 - yeah, I thought that looked like Jaslene but wasn't sure. Thankfully she wasn't trying to give us all that one look that was the only look she could manage on ANTM, and you know what I'm talkin' about. Okay, that was mean. I'm glad both of them are getting some work.

Anonymous said...

It's Bianca modeling Chris' first dress. I really disliked her on ANTM, but she looks stunning on the runway in that dress! Have to admit that Jaslene looked great, too, though I didn't care for the silver number she was wearing.
Tyra also showed some of Rami's designs on one of her talk shows, before this edition of PR even started. She stated he was one of her favorite new designers, and the last winner, Salesia, modeled his designs. Ah....the intertwining of two of my most fav shows!!! I love it!

Anonymous said...

I love Chris but I don't think Nina will be able to get past the hair fringe if he shows one of ones with that on it.

Bummer cause I've loved Sissybear from the begininning.

Actually, it means that Rami is so "last season" because they are showing the Fall 2008 collections now.

Additionally, the reports coming out of the Paris shows are that the goth/gothic style is making a comeback. Thus, Sissybear is actually the most fashion-forward cutting edge of all of these designers.

Yes! Whenever Tim is talking to a designer, and they don't seem to be listening, I want to yell at them, 'LISTEN TO TIM!'.

It is just like watching a horror movie, when you're sitting there yelling at an on-screen character, 'DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!!'

They never listen either.

That just SUCKS!

Chris's was AMAZING!

OK, the more I'm thinking about it tonight, the more I am really annoyed about Tim's and the judges' reaction to Chris's use of human hair. For gawd's sake, people, nobody died to give up that hair. It's no worse and certainly a helluva lot better looking use of human hair than 99 percent of the Eva Gabor wigs that cradle women's heads. Chris's mini-collection was provocative and intellectually challenging and I wish the judges had had the balls to move him onto the finals. Nothing against Rami, who seems to have behaved most admirably ever since he made up his summer sleep deprivation, but Chris really deserved to move on.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad Chris didn't listen to Tim about the hair. The way the light moved on it on the runway was amazing. And the black chrome safety pins blew me away.

I'm not sure where the "ick" factor comes in. I see people wearing other peoples' hair all the time woven into their own hair. Does Tim turn green when Heidi wears a wig or extensions?

"You know, Heidi. About that wig...let me tell you about the monkey house..."

Chris, the universe has shown you love because you're lovable. And, a FIERCE designer (sorry Christian!!) Whether it's fashion or costume, we want to see MORE,MORE,MORE!!!!

Rami could have sent his three models down the runway dressed in feces and the judges would have voted for him. Chris' outfits were amazing, but he never stood a chance. The judges have had a hard on for Rami since Day One. Just because Chris is a costume designer doesn't mean that he is plagued by his craft. The judges have made up this alleged characteristic of Chris' work. It's all costume honey. Rami's fugly blue jacket was last scene on the gatekeeper to Oz. I'm disappointed, so I'm having a beer.

JRH said...

I'm watching the rerun, and it's making me angrier because as much as the judges think that Rami stepped outside of his box, the only piece they liked was the draped dress in the middle! And that gown was hateful!

I love Chris' work, and I want to go work for him, helping him prepare for his couture show in Paris that Cavalli predicted for him! I want to send him my resume!! He is such fun and so very talented.

Black safety pins...OMG, I WANT that skirt!

Chris, you absolutely blew me away.

Amazing talent!

Help! Now that I'm not so worried about being spoiled, where can I see Chris' (and Sweet P's) BP collections?

I'm still trying to avoid seeing or reading about the finalists' collections. I'm glad I didn't know about the hair fringe before tonight's show...what a delightful surprise. (I'm on the pro-hair side. And I do adore Chris, though he might as well have had Joe Btfsplk's rain cloud over his head for the whole eppy.)

Anonymous said...

I was interested to see both collections tonight, but the whole thing about who would show seemed a little . . . irrelevant. After seeing Christian's and Jillian's clothes, does anyone think Rami will take it? Or (and I love me some Sissy bear) Chris? So they both got to show but neither will get the money: a tie, IMO.

And to the troll correcting grammer/syntax--this ain't school honey. Calm down.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations Rami! That was a hard choice, but, when I saw the runway, I wanted Rami to win. And he did. Chris is right, he had amazing experience, and received the kind of fan adoration that few ever do. That said, Im glad this was based solely on the merit of the fashion.

Anonymous said...

Awww. I didn't really care for Chris's pieces (except for the safety pin skirt which was, well, fierce) but I'm sadder than I thought I would be that he won't be moving on. I still heart Team Fierce. Their reunion was so cute.

Looks like they are editing for a Jillian win with all that destined for greatness stuff. The Princess had the shortest home visit. :-(

Then again, there's this recent picture of Posh in a black suit with skinny pants that screams ... well, you know. http://media.collegepublisher.com/media/paper87/stills/q706w866.jpg

Me too GH! I just had to tune in to read though, even though my *other* gay boyfriends Tivo'd this for me to watch tomorrow night with them. :) Gotta love The Gays but I don't need to tell you that. Not surprised Chris got the auf. I could see that coming with how friendly Rami was toward him at the reunion show. Now that woulda been one grumpy homo had he been auf'd at this stage.

Anonymous said...

I'm watching right now and the biggest "Wow!" was Chris' friend's apartment! But seriously, so far, I'm liking what I saw at Jillian's place the most; especially that first jacket.

Loved Tim's monkey house analogy!

Anonymous said...

If I didn't know that was human hair (and therefore really, really, really, really, really icky - really icky) I would have loved it. I still kind of like it, but I'm very creeped out by that.

I liked Chris's evening dress better than Rami's. Rami's didn't quite look like it fit. It looked like she was carrying it around her.

Oooooh.....I loved Chris' innovative designs! Marcia looked absolutely gorgeous on the runway. All that hard work.

Alot of the judges' comments had me going, "Heh?!".

Aw well, thank you Mr. March for a fantastic voyage!

We love Sissybear, and despite his outside-the-box thinking, there was never really any chance he was going to make. We know this, right?

Joanie said...

Tomato, lovely Tomato, I so love your new fashion-crime fighting duo. Honestly, based on the reunion show and this ep, I love the sweet friendship Chris and Rami seem to have developed. How I wish they'd been paired together for a challenge during the season.

C'est la vie. They'll now have to settle for battling women like me who can barely dress themselves.

Kanani said...

It's interesting that both Chris & Jillian used armor and military garb as a reference for their collections. Also, all the collections were very dark, including Jillian's and even Christian's.

As André has written, fashion can be a reflection of the times we live in. I think he's right.

I think Chris's work was amazing. They're the sort of outfits that end up in collections.

I really didn't like the blue coat Rami made. I also didn't care for the way Jacqueline moved in the ball gown. She seems so stiff, which didn't help it at all.

Perhaps Rami was the more reliable and realistic choice. But oh... I think Chris would've added the unexpected to the final 3.

Joanie said...

What I was most surprised at when looking at the London fashion week stuff was how much closer the fashions were to what Chris had for Bryant Park than they were to what others had designed.

I read why Chris chose to use human hair for his collection (the contestants were not allowed to use any animal hair/fur) and I'm glad he did. I didn't find it at all creepy. People wear wigs, extensions, etc. And we wear animal fur/hair/pelts. Why not? It's not like he grabbed folks off the street and offered to give them haircuts to get the hair.

I think it's really easy to discount what ANY of the designers have done this season because we're not in their shoes. I loved watching them tackle the challenges and found lots to love and lots to hate on the runway.

The show itself was less exciting early on this season for a number of reasons. But we still watched, waiting for that spectacular confrontation or whatever. Let's face it, we're PR junkies.

I really wish Bravo would be working on having the next season coincide with the Fall fashion week. Give us our PR during the summer months, no?

Thombeau said...

Wow... talk about "Sophie's Choice". I adore both of these guys for totally different reasons. Rami's work is elegant and sexy (effortless construction), but Chris is outrageous & dramatic (LOVED the use if hair & safety pins). I'm torn.

I know the final 5 got actually got to show their work, and they all deserved it. All 5 are a bit on the dark side, which appeals to me.

I guess Sweet P was too commercial & Chris was to "Costumey", but they were both insanely talented and easily the sweetest personalities this season.

That said, I'll be thrilled if any of the final 3 win, but I think spunky little Christian has the edge. Good luck to all!

KP said...

I loved Chris's reason why he should be in the final three: someone outside the fashion world who still has the talent deserves to go -- and the human hair didn't creep me out either. I thought his collection was expertly crafted. I loved the styling, too. have you seen what walks down your typical runway? It wasn't all taht "costumey."

Anonymous said...

Sissybear's collection was amazing. It has that really interesting gothy quality that would appeal to a lot of people and be really interesting. Rami's collection was okay at best, That coat was horrid, and didn't he have another one of them in the exact same color? Ugh. And Jillian looked scary when she was talking about her collection. Not one facial feature moved. It was grotesque.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Joan, I always knew that the judges were biased toward Rami "I dress the stars," rather than Chris, "I am a costume designer who loses all the running races." I knew who the final 3 would be after the first few weeks. And I know that I don't like being played; it is like watching the Super Bowl when the outcome has already been determined. A waste of my time.

>>On another note, what the HELL is Heidi wearing?<<

I think this could be the basis for its own Bravo show. "Next week, on 'What the hell is Heidi wearing?'..."

I preferred the Sweeney Todd collection to the Oz collection (good call on the gatekeeper's coat!) and in a previous season, they mentioned that the final challenge should make them want to see more of that designer. chris' was the one I wanted to see more of. What else is there? Bracelets of vertebrae? But really? That hair looked gorgeous on the runway.

His long black dress was very cool, but she couldn't walk, which is bad. But so was Rami's. His looked like it was made of Reese's cup wrappers.

Anonymous said...

I was hoping for a foursome at Bryant Park. But alas, we will be subject to draping without drama. I will miss seeing your collection Chris - you have been my favorite!

Anonymous said...

Delurking to say that I do think Chris made truly amazing couture quality work. Those outfits were interesting in still photographs, but in motion they were gorgeous. They really were fashion as art. The judges and producers should be ashamed of themselves.

Anonymous said...

I love that Rami was bold enough to use color! I thought the jacket was exquisitely crafted. The second dress was simply gorgeous. I and all of my friends would wear it in an instant. As for the third dress, other then the side panels, I loved it as well.

There was only one dress of Chris' that I enjoyed, [not the velvet condom of the sheer topped one] and, I wish he'd done something a little different....used some color, or something other then human hair on one of them. I can certainly see why the Judges chose Rami for the win. He deserves it. Congrats to him.

sixgables said...

Ah, and I forgot to add--when Tim was at Chris' apt. and told his monkey house story--at the end, my husband said, "Did you hear that? Time just told him 'Oh lord, it STINKS!' So, how do you think he's going to do?" yeeeeah.

Suzanne said...

At the end of the day Chris's Auf only meant he wasn't in contention for the win......everyone knows #4 gets to do a runway show anyway and that is half the prize. I will tell you this. Chris's collection had people gasping in the audience. It was dramatic and I can remember almost every piece, where ask me WTF Rami sent down the runway and I can barely recall any of it. The photos really do Chris's collection no justice, especially since the backs of his dresses were magnificent. I hope they show that in the finale episode.

BTW I thought that the human hair was horse hair or goat hair like Heidi said and I am with the others who are bewildered at why Tim was so grossed out....I mean people wear extenstions on their HEADS!

BigAssBelle said...

oh. my. stars. SissyBear was robbed!!

Those three pieces were divine, magnificent, stunning, enchanting.

I don't think I've ever seen such gorgeous clothes. Beautiful!!

So sad to see Chris go. I think the only reason they had Chris and Rami compete for the remaining place at fashion week is that Rami's last challenge piece was too weak for him to win at that point, and they really wanted him in the final three. This smelled like a set up from the start. Of course, Chris had his second chance, and did get to show, so I am glad for him. I loved his three looks, so beautiful and unusual.
Don't you want to be invited to Chris's friend's apartment? That place was wild!

Anonymous said...

I've spent most of the month, hoping that Chris would make it and that Rami would be auf. I knew better, but a girl can hope.

I was totally surprised at the flow and level of detail of Chris' line. Those were some clothes. Clothes I would wear if I weren't two people in model size. Texture, shine, lines, movement, elegance of fabric....I knew he was good, I didn't know he was that good.

I expected great beauty out of Rami, 3 goddesses down the runway as Heidi said. What I saw was clothes very similar to ones I had in late 70's, early 80's. The blue coat ? I bought a black one, 80% like it at a designer sale in Detroit in 1980. The wrapped stapless dress ? Did anyone else hate the way the colors came together on the draped strapless dress ? With the bodice suggesting "shell," I expected a more fluid line of color, rather than the switch at the waist.

Must all Rami's drapes come up to the tootie, so that it's impossible to sit down ?

And his gown ? It looked like reece's peanut butter cups. (adding on those hip things was an abomination. Surely, a change of texture would have looked nice on her hips, but why not a flatter, richer fabric, rather than a lump to make her hips look wide ?

Ah well, I think Chris got exactly as much as he needed; great exposure and advertising. I gotta invite him over for dinner :)

I'm going to say it again; the judges should have NO information about the designers' backgrounds, none.

If Duchess L'Orange and NinaGarciaEditorofElleMagazine didn't have a preconceived expectation of 'costume', they would be swooning over Chris' unorthodox materials choices.

But Tim was right on the money about the judges' revulsion to human hair. I believe that Sissybear would have been better served if he had used fake tresses instead of real for the trim, and a bit less of the material overall - perhaps just limiting it to the (stunning) collar of one jacket?

Sissybear, you wuz robbed!

Rami designs are very classy. I would buy his creations in a minute (if I could afford them).
Chris may be a lovely guy but he designs costumes.
Sorry to Chris's fans, Rami is the winner.

This was a set-up, much as the Season 3 final four all competiting a set-up. Last season's final challenge was completely a set-up to auf Uli, since they clearly wanted Laura, Michael, and Jeffrey in the finale, but couldn't auf Uli since she truly had the best dress (this coming from a die-hard Laura fan). No amount of editing could have made an Uli-auf'ing or a Chris-auf'ing look legit, and so, we're given these stupid set-ups.

I agree with all who think Chris was robbed. I went to bed thinking about all three of his looks and can recall them all vividly today.

Rami - I remember the blue Wizard of Oz coat and the Reeses PB Cup gown - and not in a good way. I thought they were unflattering to the models' figures and it all looiked a bit "The Fifth Element" to me.

But I'm looking at it this way: PR doesn't own Chris for the next year like it will own the winner. As someone else said, he got great exposure, showed at Bryant Park, lived a dream, got huge recognition and adoration, and is now free to make his fashion mark. Go Chris March!!

Anonymous said...

As much as I feel that this outcome was predetermined -- the Chris-Rami tie being a farce -- it's worth remembering that Chris was auf'ed once before. In reality TV land, it's a universal truth that those contestants so resurrected shall be auf'ed within the next few episodes. Chris survived to show at BP and, in doing so, showed more creativity and innovation than the others combined, IMHO. By taking full advantage of his 2nd chance, Chris came out a winner in my book.

I couldn't tell exactly where it was, but someone else mentioned she lives in Brooklyn.

But either way, that still is large apartment for a creative person, by real NYC standards, as opposed to TV NYC standards, which was the point I was making.
