Holy shit, she's freaking out! We're gonna talk about your tacky stripper outfit, Jillian! Just CALM DOWN!
Okay, maybe that's a little unfair, because this:
...was actually kind of awesome.
Before we say anything else though, we have to point out the severe WRONGNESS of those shoes. We're all for the faux-kneesock look (at least with this outfit), but not with those shoes, kitten.
In retrospect, we think we like this one a little more than Chris'. His was creative and fabulous in its own way, but this just had a girly sort of wit to it that we really liked.
And apparently, she did too.
We thought we would hate the color, but because she was making what looked like her take on a cross between boxing trunks and track gear (with a soupcon of slutwear thrown in), the electric blue actually worked.
The little boxing shorts were supercute, but the straps coming up out of her lady area look more than a little painful.
It's a an overall sexy, sporty look, but she could do some serious damage to her bits if she tried to wrestle in that thing.
And uh...that's it. It's really hard to string together more than a hundred words about these tiny little outfits. They're tight, they're shiny, they show a lot of skin. The end.

Yes, this was a big contender for the win. Although I am happier that Chris won. I think this outfit could work (in different colors of course) for a new Wonder Woman costume.
I really liked this getup (for a WWE wrestler anyway)! I would have been happy with this for the win. It resembles what Suzanne Somers would wear for a Battle of the Network Stars mud wrestling match.
Those socks are pretty bad, but I don't know whether there were 70s-style sweat socks available on the Bluefly wall. Actually, what shoes DO go with this--Addidas stripper heels?

I am glad Chris won, though I liked (???) this look too.
I would never be able to don the thing without strangling every one of my appendages. It looks like it takes a masters degree just to get it on.
It was cute and Jillian-esq.
I noticed while watching the show that when her model comes down the runway, the "socks" are in a different postion than the shot of her going back on the runway. A testiment to the multiple times the models actually do go back and forth during taping. Next time you watch this epi look closely and you'll see what I mean. You almost feel a little tricked.
I thought that this one was a pretty close second, after Chris'. The winning outfit fit better.
I don't think that Jillian's little concoction would hold together during a 'wrestling' match. The straps that connect the top to the shorts could act like bad suspenders and create a wedgie to end all wedgies or just rip.
I was going to say something about the boobs not staying in the bra very long, but those tits probably don't move very much on their own.
I love this outfit b/c it looks like something a superhero would wear. Imagine it with white knee high boots instead and a cape. superherolicious!
I liked the outfit except for those socks and shoes. But especially the socks. That over the knee whiteness just killed it for me, plus Chris had already been robbed a few times.
I honestly think those shoes were the "lucky shoes" for this season. They and the long black boots appeared on a model in every episode. I almost have to wonder what sort of cat fights went on between the designers over the shoes because so few pairs seemed to get used.
That said, the outfit was cute but I do wonder why functionality wasn't a more real consideration for this challenge. It certainly was with the figure skating.
As for the tootie-age on this outfit, I can't see how it was sexy by anyone's standards. Chris seemed to understand how much was enough to leave hanging out the back door, but Jillian's "hemline" here just looked uncomfortable and poorly fitted.
I love the color on this, and the sportiness of this. I do NOT like the high butt-cheek shorts. And they can't be comfortable when wrestling.
Still, I loved Chris's more.
Great color.
And it reminded me of my never-realized dreams of being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader (as inspired by the cheesy TV movie with Jane Seymour, Bert Convy & Bucky Dent).

I thought this was great. The diva said her style was sporty, and with that, Jillian designed an outfit that was reminiscent of a sneaker design (with the trademarked swooshes & stripes, etc).

Agree with the rest, definitely happy Chris won. Something annoys me about Jillian as a person, not as a designer. I think she smokes out too much or something, or is too good of friends with Klonopin.
I thought it looked great on her. I also love the color.
As for the cheekiness of the shorts; yeah, it was a bit much (or not enough), but truthfully, if my ass looked like that, I would wear those same shorts (even on a day like today).

Loved this outfit -- except the white socks and ugly shoes. That really ruined the look for me.
I thought her color scheme was kinda borrowed from Rami's diva during introduction.
I liked the color and I liked the shorts (except for the ass cheeks)but that was it. I hated the sock-thingy's and those straps had to be uncomfortable.
Chris deserved the win on this one, Jillian was not even close to a win with this. Plus I hate Jillians hair, it is sooo 70's.
I couldn't help but think the whole outfit was reminiscent of a Carroll Shelby Cobra 427. Do I loose some of my gay points? (at least I was thinking about cars it reminded me of and was not fixated on her lady bits)
Hate the knee highs. They're hella bad.
I don't think the electric blue would work on a normal person, but her skin is just so ... orange that the color scheme works.
Like Jillian's final "collection", I thought this look was derivative and pedestrian. Workmanlike and blah. She really aims for the expected, the trite and the obvious. Boxing shorts and S&M Bondage straps .... huh?

How long, exactly, did it take her to make that? More than 2 hours is a joke.
I loathe the shoes, but equally, I loathe the kneesocks. Baggy tubes of not-sexy, not-sporty excess.
But I give Jillian props for the overall look. Granted, I'm a little concerned about where, exactly, those straps go under the shorts, but this is a great look for a chick wrestler.

Jillian and the judges kept commenting on the "engineered stripes" on the top. Um, how are "engineered" stripes different from regular stripes? What's the big deal?

Don't forget Lauren Tewes. No one ever speaks of Lauren ("Julie McCoy") Tewes anymore, and that truly saddens me.... Attention must be paid.
Why would the straps go all the way down and around? They're probably just sewn down at the top of the shorts.

This is a varsity sport uniform that comes off as being sexy, but in a tom-girl next door way. Jillian did a beautiful job and her Diva was thrilled! Good job Jillian!
Thought this one was really cool and fit well with the remit she was given ("athletic girl next door"), but yeah, the socks and shoes were a bad move. It probably would have looked better with actual wrestling boots. But I doubt there were any of those on the Product-Placed Web Site accessory wall.
Bill, I wasn't thinking Dallas Cowboys, but that racing metallic blue and the stripes reminded me of a Mach 1 Mustang from the same era.

I take it the Project Rungay readership never watched American Gladiators? Because this outfit just screams it. And quite appropriately so, given Jillian's girl's image.
As much as I adore Chris, this should have won. It was so much more creative and out of Jillian's forte. She really amazed me with some versatility that I'd love to see from some certain other designers. [Rami, Chris, Christian.]
Ice called: she wants her circa '94 AMerican Gladiators memorabilia back.
The strong point of this outfit is that it perfectly accentuated her diva's persona - sporty girl next door - in the context of the WWE. I though "addidas via Victoria's Secret - (unlike Christian's, which read "Fredrick's Sale rack 1992 - but we'll get there, right?)
I think Chris's was slightly better only because of material choices - I mean, other than a drag queen designer, who thinks to put green leopard spandex and black sequins together? Spectacular.

The stripes on the bra aren't really engineered stripes. To me it looks like they were appliqued onto the bra.
Engineered stripes are usually found on boys t-shirts. The t-shirts that are a solid color with a band of stripes across the chest area (think Gregg Brady). The fabric is enginereed to only have a stripe pattern knit every 12" or so, and the inbetween parts are solid. Then the "marker" has to engineer the pattern so the stripe always lands on the chest area(or were ever the designer intends it to).

Engineered or not, the entire thing looks home sewn. An 8th Grade home Ec project.

Personally I did think this worked for the client and ultimately that's what the challenge was about.
Jillian gave exactly what the client wanted and it fit her profile. Props to her for embracing the challenge.
However I just did not feel any jillian "vibe" to the outfit per se. Chris and Christian's outfits clearly had their point of view imprinted on their designs. Even Rami had his draping style unmistakenly apparent despite the mess of the outfit

I'm so glad you're blogging the rest of the RAW outfits, because I have some words for Miss Sweet Pea.
Good job, Jillian. You can stop pretending you're not all that bright now.
I think this was a turning point for me with Jillian. I haven't hated her this far, but I have felt very blase about her.
But I really liked this. I think this was witty, well done, and perfectly suited to the challenge. Jillian showed that she has a point of view and a personality, and those were the two things that have been missing for me when it came to her.

I think Jillian was robbed. Chris' model was wearing an animal print, so his choice of fabric was uninspired, though the end result was entertaining. Also, though, it was not a stretch for him to create this outfit; we expect him to be able to do this. Jillian's outfit was fabulously constructed, fit the model perfectly, conceptually fit her wrestler, and looked hot. And, what's more, it is more of a stretch for Jillian to make this outfit. She continually displays her ability to mold to the challenge and design pieces that are outside of her own taste, while they meet the challenge's requirements and still reflect her aesthetic.
This one and Chris's were the two that I felt best matched the challenge and the style of their diva. Christian's, while impeccable, didn't say "wrestler" to me.
I really liked the electric blue and the strapping. We all know that even though these are professional athletes, the wrestling is choreographed to a great extent. It's not like they are out there doing actual college type wrestling where there is pulling and tearing possibilities. Because of that, I would say that strict functionality would not seem to be as big a consideration.

From the previews, it seems as though when they are talking about going Grecian, they are looking towards Sweet P and Chris. And when they are talking about being a sportswear designer, they are looking toward Rami.
And when Nina says "You have more tricks up your sleeve, that is what I wantED to see from you," I think Chris responds.
But his design looks very interesting on the mannequin, Jillian's looks like Tinkerbell's on the mannequin, and I can't see enough of Rami's to see if he is draping.
ooh, tom in kc, spooky that you would bring up Lauren Tewes. I was the unofficial social coordinator for the gays that I ran with in the 90's and was often referred to as "Julie, Your Cruise Director" as I organized group movie, theatre & restaurant outings.
I think you underestimate the durability of lady bits, ye with no lady bits to speak of! Better that she have some straps to keep those things on, because the last thing we need is another wrestler making some desperado move involving yanking those shorts down.
But despite my unlove for Jillian, I thought this was pretty cute, for, you know, a skanky wrestling outfit. Too bad Lita doesn't seem to be around anymore, at least she wore something other than a few strips of spandex.
I agree that Jillian could have won for this, esp. since she was the only one who resisted the hooker and boudoir imagery.
Anyway--Isn't it time for someone to note that Jillian is not much older than Christian (she's 26). Everyone goes on about how young Christian is to have such skills, but look at Jillian, just a few years ahead.

Yes and furthermore her constuction skills and pattern making/draping ability are at at much higher level. Speed does not = skill.

Confession time, TLo and PRG audience. My sister and I used to watch American Gladiators as kids. So, yeah...
I don't know if she looks like a wrestler as much as one of those girls who holds up round number cards at Pride and other mixed martial arts events.
But, it is better than others. My favorite is Chris's leopard print number, hands down. Rwoar!
I loved the outfit, glad that Chris won the challenge, but who cares? Did you see the piruette that Jillian executed right before the kick to the mannequin?
She could be a WWE wrestler herself. Or a classy stripper. Whatever. She could make her own outfits either way. (Jillian clearly had some dancing lessons along with sewing)
Seeing as Christian made a "biker" outfit, and Jillian made a "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader" outfit, I definitely think Chris deserved the win.
I thought maybe she was trying to go for a parent leather mary jane shoe with the white kneesocks, and those were the only shoes on the wall that sort of came close.
as thrilled as i am that chris won this challenge, and as much as he deserved it for his chic take on lady wrestling - jillian's outfit really was the best overall.
it was everything it was supposed to be: sporty, flashy, and super sexy. and it fit better than it should. it was the perfect balance between saucy and athletic. she looks like she could go straight from the runway to the ring in that thing. i was really impressed with jillian's work this time. might be my favorite of hers all season.
I think Jillian did a great job coming up with something that perfectly matched the client's image. However, I think Chris deserved the win. When I picture the wrestler entering the ring in front a crowd, Jillian's just doesn't give off the same dramatic wow factor that I'd expect for the occasion. Maybe it could use a mini-cape or something to up the drama.
This outfit was well made, but it was nothing original. Nothing that hasn't been seen before, over and over. She didn't deserve to win.

I described this as "Supergirl's badass sister." It was exactly what the diva asked for. I think it would have been a stronger contender for the win if it had been a more dramatic outfit, but sporty = sleek, not dramatic. Also, I don't think it was quite as well-made as Chris's; the stripey bits have a bit of a poof/bubble to them.
I loved the high socks because they brought as much drama to "sporty" as one possibly could, and also a bit more of the "girl next door but sexy" thing, e.g the Schoolgirl element.
I can't say anything that hasn't already been said, but putting in my 2 cents....
I did not like the leggings/shoes (ick!) but I thought this outfit was right on in terms of the personality her client wants to convey. A blend of bright blue/true white athletic wear (great for tan blondes), slightly skanky strappy look for the WWE.
On 2nd, 3rd, 4th thought, maybe more than slightly skanky, but that's their deal.
I was extremely disappointed at the lack of tootie references by the judges!!!!!!!
She uses those shoes EVERY SINGLE time!!! Time to move on from those shoes

I like Jillian's imagination. She's the most thoughtful of this bunch.
She did an adorable job! I didn't love it as much as Chris', but I gave Jillian plenty of praise here. She's still my favorite. Go Jilly!
She sort of strikes me as the kind of woman who wouldn't go by Jilly though.
I like the outfit but it's not quite right for the WWE, which is why I think it didn't win. It's not as edgy as the WWE look, and even though we had a sporty girl-next-door type, she doesn't really wear stuff like this.
I feel like it might work OK in a different color, without being so shiny, with slightly longer shorts, and maybe some piping or something. I don't know. The cutouts and wrapping work great but.. There's something off about it.

Except that for once, the workshop scenes were fun! They looked and sounded as if they were enjoying themselve. Was that because of the nature of the challenge or because Miss Sourpuss "I need silence to concentrate" was finally gone?
As someone who actually has "lady bits" I can say the straps don't look painful at all.
Maybe you guys are outside your "box" on this subject? LOL.
