Distracting you with shiny things.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006 by
Let's all take a step back from sniping at each other in the comments and look at something pretty, mkay? We were looking for a specific picture for a recent post and stumbled across this pic of Camilla again.

This picture is FABULOUS. Now that's a model. She's not wearing anything of any particular interest but she is working the HELL outta that thing.

We've done posts about several of the other models, but for some reason, we've never done one about Camilla. Strange, because she is without a doubt one of our favorites.

She never looked bad once this season, no matter what monstrosities she was forced to wear.

Exhibit A:

That is the very definition of "working the shit" outta something. "Shit" being the operative word here.

But when she wears something fabulous or pretty or well-suited to her, she amps the outfit's best qualities up to eleven just by virtue of the fact that she's wearing it.

Exhibit B:

Just a reminder: SHE'S WEARING TRASH, PEOPLE.

I thought Laura was going to win this one, that dress was "golden",Camilla worked it too.

Camilla = STUNNING!

She looks FABULOUS! She is one my favorite models.

She is beautiful and although Nazri was the model who received the most attention, Camilla's personality did shine through, when she was trying to help Laura keep it young, in the extra video when she says the models had crushes on Michael, she is as endearing as she is beautiful!

When Camilla chose Laura during the fashion icon show, I became her fan forever. Thanks for those stunning shots!

Nazri is my fave fierce bitch (she and I have similar flyaway 'fros!), but Camilla has a quiet elegance that most of the other models lacked. Of course, she was Laura's dressform for most of the competition and that might color my opinion, but she has so much grace! And, at the risk of sounding racist, her dark coffee skin is gorgeous--the perfect contrast to bright, soft, or bold colors. She works it well, y'all.

See? That's why I love you, bitches. A post about my favorite model. Camilla is fabulous!

I also agree with the divine miss m, Camilla does have an elegance that most of the other models lacked.

Which picture is she wearing garbage in???
Cause from my screen it looks like that bubble thing was industrial accident. Shudder.

Camilla definately deserves props. She's gorgeous and makes everything she wears look good.

How long are that girls LEGS??

PRGboys - thank you for 'distracting [us] with shiny things'!

I'm afraid some posters have become like crabby kids in line at the amusement park. Too much whining as we wait for the PR Finale (part deux). You remind me of my Mom trying to get us to play "I spy" when we were stuck in traffic in our 1967 Skylark (without air conditioning).

And, as bryan said "Camilla = STUNNING!" Can't wait for tomorrow night!

When Camilla talked with Laura about how to make her b/w dress younger I wanted to hug her, take her home to meet the family and put her picture on a billboards all over the interstate.

BTW - I'm standing by my request that you boys blog the Court TV coverage of the Keith Michael defamation case!

Ok I've heard of scapegoating in the NFL, but this is RIDICULOUS!!! I know the AZ Cardinals are for all intents and purposes out of it for the season, but dumping your offensive coordinator after that side of the ball acquits itself nicely (with a rookie QB! C'mon!) against the vaunted Chicago D is just wrong!

I mean... I mean...

*looks around*

Ooopps, sorry folks, wrong forum...
errrr...

what I meant to say is that Camilla gets props for being way savvy. That she chose Laura worked out great for them both.

As self-appointed Prez of Straight Guy Fans of Kayne it is difficult, but at this point I must throw the full weight of my endorsment to the Laura camp. May the Queen of New York and future shopping partner of our PRGays reign in happiness.

Camilla is my *very* favorite model!! ( followed by Alexandra, and that's not because it's my name..hehe)

I'm really glad you guys mentioned her! Not only she is gorgeous and has the longest legs evah! But she's graceful and classic and adorable at the same time..

She also really seems to care about Laura...

GO CAMILLA! <3 <3 <3

The marathon starts tomorrow at 6am out here in PST-land. I am starting to get all twitchy thinking about tomorrow night.
Thanks for the distraction!

Oh god, Bungle, that killed me! lol

Camilla totally deserves this recognition. She is so beautiful and so overlooked.

Camilla worked every single one of Laura's dresses. She is gorgeous.
I love the Laura-Camilla duo.

Does anyone know where she's from?
She is a great model.

Camilla is just wonderful - she's been my favorite model all season for her quiet dignity (read: no BS drama!), her intelligence (she snagged Katherine Hepburn as an icon after choosing Laura as her designer - hello!), and her elegant timeless looks. She can definitely carry a wide range and she doesn't need the wild hair to stand out.

Camilla reminds me of Princess Elizabeth of Toro (look her up. amazing woman. maybe Camilla will play her in the movie).
REGAL!
Her MK crush confession was so adorable! Great things ahead!

PS: Bungle-- you slay me! But I totally agree, re: D Green firing his offensive coordinator--
Oh. Nevermind...

I was thinking she reminded me of a certain Sports Illustrated model and then found her.

PRGayBoys - nice shiny thing distraction! ;^)

Have been enjoying this blog since "Kayne died and went to gay heaven" and it's become part of my enjoyment of the show on a whole ... Even my husband checks this blog now (he's a geek, he reads everything, gotta love them)

Will be checking in to see what you're blogging when this season is over!

I never post here, but Bungle, you got me. Dang that Denny Green. The man is cursed -- that's what it is. (I say it ironically, but I swear my grandmother cursed him when he was hired in Minnesota).

Oh wait, right, Camilla. Absolutely gorgeous and very, very smart to have hooked up with Laura.

Camilla has been my favourite model for the whole season. And when she paired up with Laura, well, it was just too much fabulousness.

Julia,
Thank you and Margo for the info in that other section. I'm all about doing my own homework (like I said, I googled Y-dart first) and, guess what? I hit the used book store circuit (I'm in Maryland between DC and Baltimore) and found 5 volumes of the Time-Life "art of sewing" series, "the magic garment- principles of costume design" (I know, I know, but it looked related enuff) by Rebecca Cunningham, and "making a complete wardrobe from 4 basic patterns" by Rusty Bensussen.

Grand total: $4.50.

Posts from you and Margo: priceless.

Um, Anon 11:39 and Marcie, I'm the dork what can't figure out the right forum to post to, NOT you two. Don't follow in my ill ways, save yourselves... SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!
:D
(But yeah, D.Green is grasping at straws and I feel sorry for him and the Cards)

-------------------------

I think it's great the PRGays are getting due recognition!
This creation of theirs is beyond "blog", it is pure party, cyber-style. They are the DJs spinning the phat-o notes that we all groove to. There is a palpable vibe and it all starts with them, subject matter notwithstanding.

Anonymous said...

Yes, that recycling dress she wore for Laura, could have been very boring, but she rocked the SHIT out of that!

Nervous energy all over - I assume the prgay boys are preparing for the next days comments onslaught after tonite's episode. I for one, am NERVOUS, so it was nice to think for a second or so on Camilla, rather than the contestants. Good idea guys.

Next comments - after the decisions and "why, why, why"s.

junior_goddess said...

Love Camilla-she just seems to be a nice woman. I am anxiously awaiting tonights episode, and uneasily wondering what the hell I'm gonna read in the "off season."

You guys have done a hysterically funny job! MWAHH!

Suzanne said...

Holy crap. Ladies and Gentlemen our PRGayBoys are almost as famous now as the designers themselves (thanks for the link Katiecoo)
YEAH!!
Rightfully so you fabulous bitches.
The funny thing is some of the first posts have 0 comments! How fast did this thing spread? Like an outbreak of syph in a crackhouse.

My husband is ready to kill me because I forwarded the link to his place of business and the other day 12 out of 14 computers were on the PRGay screen.....no one is getting any work done.

Love you. Love you. Love you.

WOOHOO BOUT TIME!!

Thanks PRGayboys for singling out the fabulous Camilla!

She's a rare beauty!

Nazri seems to have gotten most of the press, but I have always loved Camilla. The way she worked the couture dress, even with the fallen collar, was just fabulous!

Dulce said...

I'm so glad you guys singled out Camilla in this post. She's been my favorite model from the beginning, and the one who seems to be posessed of a deeper intelligence than most of the other models. Everything she's said in the short clips had poise and thoughtfulness. She seems to posess a genuine interest in design, which makes me wonder if she's a creative-professional for some sort when she's not modelling.

Anonymous said...

When I come back in the next life, I want to be Camilla.

Gigi said...

She's so naturally gorgeous and elegant! And looks glam wearing not only trash, but itchy, scratchy trash.

junior_goddess said...

Your post about Camilla made me wonder about the other models. Will models filmed as difficult or PITA struggle to overcome the TV persona?

(Oh, shut UP, you know who I mean!)

Gail said...

I absolutely adore Camilla and have since day one. She is so beautiful and dignified, and she wears everything so perfectly it is hard not to. :-)

And if there is a defensive coordinator who needs to be fired, it is Kentucky's Mike Archer. JMHO.

Anonymous said...

All of you probably know this already but just in case...

There are individual video interviews with all 4 models at OFW on Bravo.

One of them (Clarissa?) said they only see Heidi to say hello. That's a shame, if true. She could be much more of a mentor for the PR models.

The Divine Miss M said...
"And, at the risk of sounding racist, her dark coffee skin is gorgeous--the perfect contrast to bright, soft, or bold colors. She works it well, y'all."

What's racist? I'm about as pasty white as Laura (who also wears her skin color well by avoiding the siren song of Tanorexia), but there's no doubt that Camilla has gorgeous skin.

Bungle, you cracked me up. I can't count the number of Sundays I've wanted to sing to my husband (a die-hard Browns fan living in Broncosland), "Lighten up, it's just football!"

I know Nazri gets all the attention. But Camilla is my favorite ever since she picked Laura for the Icon Challenge. She is definitely a strong model and doesn't look pissy like Nazri.

Brilliant and Embittered said...

Michael Kors said in his interview with Andy Cohen that this was his favorite dress of the season. I think it's due in large part to the way Camilla worked the hell out of it on the runway.

She strikes me as smart too. During the icon challenge, she picked Laura because she liked her classic look (which looks great on her) and picked out Katharine Hepburn for her which could not have been a more perfect choice.

You go, girl!

Brilliant and Embittered said...

p.s. Bungle, amen to the Denny Green rant.

Anonymous said...

No question, Camilla is definitely one of the "beautiful people" I wistfully admire from afar.

One thing I thought once she became Laura's model was that I personally didn't think that Laura really designed with Camilla in mind... the couture dress might not have been such a dog if another model had been wearing it... all that black material against Camilla's skin just didn't work. I think Laura could have won more challenges had she considered Camilla's coloring and cropped hair (those fake bangs during the couture challenge didn't help). Camilla has 'new beauty' to her and not so much the classic look for which Laura's clothes were made for.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Anonymous said...

Camilla is smokin'.

Anonymous said...

I have to say that I disagree with the comment on whether Laura designed with Camillia in mind...Laura had at least three occassions where she could have switched models if she shared your opinion that Camilla was the cause of her not winning challenges. Clearly she felt her dress form and the delivery of it's POV via Camilla worked and were in constant contention for chellenge wins.

The content of your "two cents" is much more provacative than anything the Divine Miss M said earlier...but conversely it's another refreshing attribute about Ms. Bennett in that she REFUTES such narrow yet arguably expected notions as to whom she should be designing for, what they should look like or what class they should be. Such idealogy in a designer (in anyone) is refreshing and smart! And she'll be the richer for it! When you read her comments about her future business plans. She may have been "expected" to design for the hi-price point niche but she's thinking in the Macro ala Martha Stewart. The only criteria for owning a Laura Bennett design is having the taste to know you should.

Leto... I couldn't agree more! It's all about the taste level.

I thought Camilla, Marilinda, Nazri, and Amanda knew how to work those garments!

The first picture is truly stunning. She's so gorgeous!
