Broadway Cares, Darlings!

Monday, September 25, 2006 by
We popped back into New York yesterday to attend the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market and Grand Auction.

We of course had to stop by and meet faithful PRGay reader and commenter, Madeline, who was womanning the barricade at 44th and 8th.

It should be noted that Lorenzo loves this pic because he looks hot and Tom hates it because he looks fat. We don't know what Madeline thinks of it yet, but we think she looks fabulous. She's also a sweetheart. Great meeting you, Madeline!

It's a wonderful, energetic, fun event for a great cause, loaded with fabulous showbiz types, little old Jewish ladies, and cute theatre queens. Thanks for cruising us, guys!

We were, of course, looking for the ever-fab Malan Breton, who was graciously auctioning off an opportunity for him to provide wardrobe, fashion and style advice, along with a shopping spree and a Project Runway "bag of goodies." We're all atwitter at what could possibly be in the bag. Because we're drama queens in the truest sense of the phrase, we like to imagine that it was all scandalous goodies. "What am I bid for Vincent's crack pipe?"

We surveyed the crowd, but couldn't find The Suave One anywhere. Fortunately, PRTotallyHeterosexualLittleSister ducked into a Starbucks for some fuel and ran into him coming out.

We were able to arrange a quick photo op as he was both on his way to the stage for the auction and being swamped by photo requests from other fans. We have to say this: aside from the fact that he is totally gracious, Malan is quite literally one of those people who always looks like he's standing in a spotlight. You simply can't not notice him. Had he never achieved the level of fame that PR has provided, heads would still turn any time he walked into a room.

AND, his prize went for 2,600 dollars in the auction! A testament not only to his kindness, but also to his fabulosity. Congratulations, Darling!

Congratulations, Malan!
And thanks guys for the fabulous pictures.

I like that queen that looks like he's dishing your photo-op from behind you!

I absolutely love the way you guys write. Your posts are always so damn funny.
You lucky bitches met Malan AGAIN. I am jealous.

Though we all want the luminous Tim Gunn for ourselves, wouldn't he and Malan Breton of Taiwan make the most perfect couple? They're both so smooth, stylish and erudite. I'd be the first to crash their fabulous by invitation only Tribeca loft soiree's; happy to be thrown out after pinching all of the excellent swag!

Okay, I couldn't figure out which was Tom and which was Lorenzo because you both look pretty delish! Sounds like lots of cash was raised and fun had by all.

Tim and Malan together would almost be a surfeit of suave-and-handsome! But still wonderful, like having creme brulee AND chocolate mousse together for one memorable dessert. Yum. Three cheers to Malan for his auction donation, and three beers to you all for covering it for those of us who couldn't be there! ;-) (btw, you both look fabulous and nobody looks fat!)

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids (BC/EFA) is the nation's leading industry based not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization.

I was thrilled to see Malan participating. Thanks for covering the event, guys.

Madeline thinks she looks like she's gotten a little crazy from all the caffeine in that carmel macchiaoto in her hand. :)
I'm also saddened by the insane state of my hair, but that's what happens when you're running around in the rain.
And I also think you BOTH look hot!
Yay for cruising at the Flea market!
Did you guys stop by the Triton Gallery booth and meet the very fabulous Will? Tall, slender, baseball cap, energy level that makes the Energizer Bunny hang his head in shame? He's my knight in shining armor and also such a trip to travel the market with!
Also, did you see the hustler cruising the market. Tall, Vanilla Ice hair, jacket, no shirt, distressing lack of tush? He provided us much entertainment. :)
It was so great to meet you guys. And I second that Malan is truly lovely. He is one of those people you meet that you sincerely wish them great success because they a light inside them! And he also has eyelashes to die for. *envy* *envy* *envy*
Hope to see you guys again!

Adorable. The Gayboys, Malan, Madeline, everyone!

I had a family committment I couldn't get out of, but I would have LOVED to have gone.

For those of us that couldn't make it, we can always donate regardless.

Malan was/is one of my favorite contestants this season. I wish he had stayed a little longer.
I think he's very talented.

Malan's level of charm is up there with those glamorous movie stars from the 40s and 50s.
He come accross as having impeccable style (in the best sense of the term) down to the core.
LOVE you, Malan!

I was there, but unfortunately, did not see you guys or Malan.

It's a great event, and Malan is truly a wonderful designer whose visions deserve to be shown to the world and anyone who appreciates beauty.

What a perfect place for that.

Malan doesn'do a thing for me. I'm not getting it, but then he was gone by the time I began watching...

Glad you boys had another swinging time. Must be nice.

Tom, you are NOT looking fat. Saying that REALLY makes you sound like a skinny bitch.

Hey, has anyone mentioned how Team Queer is letting us down? Too many heteros are winning our fav show. I mean, look at the four finalists: Michael, Uli, Laura and The Peanut -- straights all. Chloe from Season 2 -- straight 2. Only Jay from Season 1 is proudly carrying The Team to victory. Team Queer is 2 for 1 so far. Come on, girls. You can do better. Ohhh, this trannie needs a cig break. This is just tooooo embarrassing.

Fabulous! Love the pics! Madeline is a cutie and you boys are HAWT! No you do not look fat Tom, not at all, BUT you're right, Lorenzo...raow! But I did mention my penchant for hispanic hotties. I'm sure I did. ;)

Malan..spotlight. What an apt description. He just exudes glamour. I think he was born a few decades too late.

Another fabulous stroll along side your fabulous life. I'm envious, vicarious and fabulous all rolled in to one because of you Boys!!!

Everyone looks fabulous - no-one looks fat - we all look green with envy. Thanks, guys. I am feeling vicariously fierce.

They really don't make them like Malan anymore. In so many ways he's a fabulous amalgamation of past decades.

Even if his life story IS B.S. (as some people claim to think it is), it beats the hell out of, say, claiming to be from the 'hood when you really grew up in a SoCal gated community!

His time on the show was too brief, but the outpouring he's getting now is a real testament to his charisma. And his collection was really lovely!

Lorenzo you ARE hot! Tom I feel you cuz the camera is not so kind to me either. Photogenically-challenged happens. But Tom I bet you are the brains behind the blog! Automatic +3 hot points!

Ack! I was in NYC on Sunday to attend the Flea Market and catch a show - wish I knew you were going to be in town so I could say hello.

Is anyone else in complete Runway withdrawal? Tomorrow evening cannot arrive quickly enough.

HA HA! IN YER FACE TEAM QUEER! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!
NO TIME FOR LOSERS CAUSE WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

Kidding! (hey, come to think of it, the guy that sang the last couple of lines was on your Team... the song is a sacred anthem in the hetero sports watching community, yet it's the intellectual property of one of yours... there's some scoreboard for ya!)

Look Anon, we (hetero guys) may have won a few battles along the way but starting out with this whole business it is apparent you guys have already won the war: you have Tim Gunn.

I met him on Sunday night as well, and he is the most charming, alluring, endearing man I've ever met! It was absolutely adorable when I asked him to speak on the phone to my friend who was unable to make it. ("So.. what're you up to?")

Oh, honeys, you and Malan...what a lovely threesome. Mwah!

I just had to say that BCEFA has all the widding bids up on their website and I was tickled to see that Malan's winning bid ($2600) was WAY higher than the winning bid for Usher's package.
I have nothing against Usher, but it just goes to show that Malan has reached a level of celebrity that rivals some of the biggest media stars of today.
WOOHOO!!!!
