"But when they returned for their group show at Bryant Park, fellow contestant Laura Bennett accused Sebelia of cheating."

Don't you love it when fashion bitches get all, y'know...bitchy?

Maybe there is something to this karma thing, after all?

Wonder if this is why there was a week delay in the show? They needed time to investigate?

I always wondered if the Peanut knew Keith had the books -- they shared a room. I also wondered if he was the one stealing the bobbins. Tim said in his Podcast that Jeffrey wasn't used to sewing -- it's something he had staff do.

It just gets curiouser and curiouser...

Wow. This is just like my neighborhood when I was a kid. Someone's mom who knows your mom saw you doing something and told your mom's friend who told your mom.

Damn. Moms.

Please tell me that as obnoxious as he is (and he is), he is not a cheating weasel. 'Course if we are going to have a Mommy v. Peanut Summer Slam, that leaves it all open for my boy Michael!

um...WOW. Just wow. I don't want to get too fired up about this just yet. But WOOOOOOOW.

Anonymous said...

OMG!!! I hate to say it, but this I would love to see. Jeffrey has been so smug and so negative about everyone else all season. Go Laura!! The Mommy Connection and the "eyes in the back of my head" always wins!! As a very old (61) Mommy and Grandmommy, I am all over this!

There's nothing like roasted peanut.

Work THAT hard to cheat at the end?
Come on kids, they're playin' us.

After all, have we not learned a thing from Kara Saun and the Great Shoe Scandal of '04??

OK, so all I'm getting on the NYMag web site is a big white space where an article should be. Is this another one of those things where I have to upgrade something on my computer to see what it is? She won't take any new upgrades at this point, I guess it's get a new computer now!

Is this article anywhere else to be seen? Thanks for any help.

Okay, remember Eddie Murphy singing, "I got ice cream! Na na na na na...??????"

"Well, I love Laura! Jeffrey's a cheater!! Na na na na na!!!"

Crush him Laura, crush him. He. Must. Be. Stopped.

BTW, LOL on the "ruh roh". I thought I was the only one who said that.

hasn't Jeffrey spent the whole season dissing other contestants' sewing skills? does this make sense? oh well, another scandal. good for ratings!

I love Laura, but Jeffrey CAN SEW, he showed that in the Jetsetter outfit and the Coutoure item. I think people were whispering the same thing about Santino last year. Jeffrey is a talented guy and maybe the longer time he had to work on his collection allowed him to do thorough job. Oh how sad if, immaculate Tim Gunn(I love his suits), had to go through Jeffrey's closets,or under his sewing table, looking for extra little elf hands. On Project Jay(of course it was after he won) Heidi ask him to do a Emmy Awards dress, he had to redo the dress and calls Kara Saun, who promptly sends over a
person who can sew the hell out of anything. The dress in the end was rocking. Heidi didn't wear it, but no complaints were made about Jay getting a extra few helping hands with the garment. But he had already won, of course. Maybe the producers are playing us a bit, for drama.

WHOA, NELLY! This is getting really good. Can't wait to see what happens! I'm on pins and needles!BTW, isn't Jeffrey the one who said he has "mad skills"? At what? Go Karma, go karma, go karma....

I guess I'm in the minoritiy when I say that I LOVE what Jefferey can do. He's got talent and he CAN sew as someone else pointed out on here already. There is a fine line between genius and insanity. Santino was the same way. Sometimes they cross the line but I will be very shocked if Jefferey really did cheat. Everyone says he's an asshole, just like they did Santino. If you ever spent anytime in art school like I did you know that the most creative and gifted artists dont always have the winningest personalities. But they do have the skills. Just like Jeffery

Oh, how I so wish for this to be true. Maybe our cacahuate is full of caca after all...ha HA! (in crazy Heidi voice)

I wonder, too, about how real this is. As much as I loathe him, I really can't see Jeffrey doing something so stupid as to violate the rules when he is so close to the prize. Plus he did all his sewing on the show and there was never criticism on his construction.

Embeedubya said...

ATTENTION ATTENTION! Does this mean Jeffrey WON? Would Laura say such a thing if he hadn't?

Anonymous said...

So, when did she make this accusation? Was it before or after the judging for the winner?

Did it come out because Jeffrey won?

(I'm so confused with the several weeks delay between filming and airing!)

Crow Winters said...

I would be amazed if this was true, considering we've already seen him bust out a three peice tailored outfit in one day.

Kelicious said...

I seriously doubt, that after he saw Keith get kicked out for cheating, that he would cheat. I think someone's hormones are out of wack.

On another note, I bet there is some family tension between him and his mom.

I'm not all that much into watching t.v., but during this time of year it's all about the NFL. So tonite it's all good cause MNF is on, but I'm sure as soon as that's over I'll be asking "IS IT WEDNESDAY YET?".

As for J. Sebelia, I'll happily postpone judgment indefinitely.

Viewing the collections, my heart sank: Jeffrey's was so superior to the others'. And I can't stand him. Can't abide his crass lack of class.

If this rumor is true, hope will still spring in my heart that he'll be ousted. If not, I'm afraid Jeffrey is a solid contender.

Anonymous said...

Is the "decoy" responsible for doing all their own sewing too? Or do they get help since it seems kinda unfair to have to go thru all that when you don't even count. Anyone know?

I KNEW IT! It was brief, but I swore that I saw "seamstress wanted" sign curled into that boy's neck tattoo. The truth has leaked out.

muahaha!! i LOVE it! scandal scandal... i hope its true. i wanna see tim whoop some ass before this season is over.

On plasma Jeffry's stuff appears to have many loose threads and raw edges. I know it's supposed to be deconstructed, but does he even have the abliltiy to sew with refined technique? The couture dress looked to me to be sloppy in execution and cut; what it had was innovation, although there was a mannequin in the fabric store draped with that fabric. I have seen more innovative draping in the fabric department at Harrods. His final show appears to be better made than any of his projects.

That said, I recall Jay Carroll saying that he had ladies knitting for him for his final show. It would have taken more than the 2 months he had, to knit that many garments himself, unless he's a skilled machine knitter.

I would like to know more about the PR rules. I think the public would like to know. I want to know if contestants are allowed a sloper or if they must drape each garment. What are the guidelines for flat patternmaking vs. draping? Do they have all the measurements for their individual models or are they designing for a standard size dressform? What machines do they have at their disposal? Do they have a blind hemmer? Remember Katy and the unfinished look when she was aufed? I wondered if the sergers they had would not do a neat rolled hem.

I know lots of fans have inquiring minds. Perhaps this kind of info would inspire the next generation of designers and sewers. If you don't know how to put it together, how can you design it? The great designer Balenciaga famously sent one outfit down the runway every season, completely made from start to finish by the master himself.

True, the man is a genius.

I also agree that they should explain the rules a little better.

Holy Crap! What do you boys think? That "I wasn't born yesterday" comment of Tim's was verrrrry interesting...

Anonymous said...

Gasp!

Wait...this implies that both Jeffery and Laura make it to the final three, right?

Anonymous said...

Oooooh! Peanut's in trou-ble!

I applaud you guys for not making the far too obvious wisecrack than perhaps him and Keith should go off and start their own line. Wait, I think I might have just made it.

Sorry!

As much as I dislike Jeffrey, the idea of sewing your entire collection if you make it to the Final 3 irritates me. What designer actually sews the clothes themselves? If you can name them, you could probably count them on one hand.

It's a design show, it's not about who's the best seamstress or tailor, is it?

Anonymous said...

Hmmmmm. I'd be surprised if the designers didn't get SOME help. Remember last season when Tim visited Chloe and was worried that she had only half a dress? And then she introduced him to her EIGHT sisters?

I can just see Chloe's house the week before fashion week: dozens of Laotian girls working feverishly at sewing machines -- enough to make Kathy Lee Gifford jealous.

leviathan said...

Yeah, and I remember Chloe Dao saying something about having help for her collection, too. I'll be thoroughly pissed if Jeffrey gets the shaft for doing what others have done in the past and not gotten reprimanded for.

For what I heard (that right there screws up all my credibility, doesn't it?), designers ARE allowed to use outsiders as long as they pay *fairly* for it. I think , however, that some actions are restricted...

Also, remember that counting fabrics, findings, etc... $8000 for a collection doesn't go too far, so you don't really have *that* much money available to pay people...

Personally, I don't think that Jeffrey was judged "guilty" of any accusations... he just seems TOO happy on interviews and such..

I also don't think Laura would just pull this out of her a$$... she must have had her reasons to decide to go to the producers...

Where did you see it "spoiled"? I've been all over the Internet and can't find it!

I have never been a fan of Jeffrey's, but I'm waiting to see the outcome before jumping to conclusions.

Anonymous said...

Whoa.

I have to say, that although I have no information on this scandal, I tend to side with Laura, because I love her. No, really, it's because I can't stand Jeffrey. No, no, for serious guys, it's because when I last checked out Macy's PR window, I couldn't help by notice that Jeffrey's "jet-setting rock star" outfit (which I loved when I saw it on TV) looked very unfinished up close, especially the bottoms of the pants and the sleeves of the jacket. Seeing it next to Uli's, Michael's and Laura's impeccable creations, it just seemed so obvious that Jeffrey, though not lacking in design talent, does not have the construction skills that the other remaining contestants have.

Fodder for the next edition of Celebrity Smack Down!

Anonymous said...

What top designers do all the sewing themselves? And an $8,000 budget goes about as far as GWB's credibility. Personally, I love Jeffrey's designs. Laura is just too frumpy for me (and kids, I'm older than *she* is...) The show isn't about how nice someone is...

Anonymous said...

It wouldn't surprise me if Jeffrey cheated. Throughout the season I never got the impression that rules matter to him at all. Also, during that time he was working with his company. I just read an article that he made Dave Navarro 3 jackets for the last 3 shows of Supernova.

Maybe it is easy to believe the worst about him, because he never seemed to have any regard for anyone else on the show. He was hateful and immature.

Anonymous said...

There are a couple of ideas of what the scandal is and what it might be. Here is my take.

In past seasons of PR, contestants have used outside help, provided that they are compensated and are included in the budget for your OFW line. I am thinking that Laura's concern is that Jeffrey may have gotten help for free, just like Kara got shoes for free that should have cost 300 dollars a pair.
