Leanne has something to say to her model

She's totally in the wrong here. Just sayin'.

And here's Karalyn's take from her MySpace Page:

"First of all- Let me set the record straight- I was very confident in Leanne's the dress the whole time. -I am pretty sure the other 14 models can vouch for that!!!

When Tim Gunn set us models loose in Mood Fabrics, I was completely lost. They made it look like there was SOOOO much to choose from. No joke, there were 3 bins of Green Fabrics. All we had to select from was jersey, jersey, jersey (which when I left Leanne in the workroom she said "Make sure you get something with structure!" ) So jersey was OUT of the question… a cocktail dress made solely out of jersey? PLEASEEEE! Anyways, besides the jersey, all Mood had was the satin in brown, champagne and black. Since this episode's challenge was for us to pick something WE would wear, I went with brown- I love earthy tones. (I think Stella confused me with Kendall). I also picked up some beautiful feathers, and zippers (thank God).

When I introduced Leanne to my Mood purchases, she was visibly worried but overall optimistic. Although we were the designer's muses, I decided that I already had enough input in the dress, thanks to the trip to Mood, and I told Leanne that all I really want to see in the dress was pockets and a belt. After all, she is the designer and this show is for her to express her style and skills.

I found it incredibly ironic that the producers chose not to include any of the SEVERAL, positive discussions Leanne and I had over the design. They also made sure to air every "negative" looking face I could have made. (You guys enjoy that face I made in the hair salon… hot right? ;) As we went backstage for the runway, all of the models said how much they LOVED Leanne's dress, and I couldn't have agreed more… I guess when I went into this show I thought (like in past seasons) the judges would be more critical towards the FINISHED product… key word FINISHED."

She thought it was one of the best??? I suspected mild myopia due to those gawd-awful blouses she wears, but now I think she just might be straight-up blind.

Karalyn's response is still pretty thoughtful and well worded. Thank goodness we have some smart models (if not necessarily tasteful, sorry hon that dress was ass) this time around.

That's a good way to handle this sort of bad editing!

I agree with anonymous that Karalyn's response is surprisingly articulate/thoughtful. What I don't understand though is that if she was so positive about the dress how do you explain 1) her reaction when asked by Heidi whether the outfit was what she had hoped for (why didn't she say "yes" since she claims here that she only asked for pockets and a belt?) and 2) Leanne's angry words to her in episode three? When Leanne tells her how she felt thrown under the bus, Karalyn's response is a blank look at her (or was her "articulate" response edited out too?)

According to Karalyn, yes, they did edit out everything positive: "I found it incredibly ironic that the producers chose not to include any of the SEVERAL, positive discussions Leanne and I had over the design. "

Although "ironic" does not seem to be the most suitable word here.

I think that, regardless of how the model actually felt about the dress, Leanne needs to realize that if she makes a shitty garment that was supposed to be designed to her model's whims, the model has every right to say something when asked for her opinion by the judges.

I think, "It's not what I was expecting..." was actually far more generous than that clusterf*ck of a dress deserved.

oops, that is shit brown... I'm tired.

Well, Judy Burnley didn't ALWAYS get along with Violet or Doralee either....

I'm kinda confused. When did "It wasn't what I expected" become the equivalent of an under-bus-throwing???

Besides girl let Judy put a shit born fabric noodle in her hair. I say that is above and beyond...

She says it was very upsetting to be out there on the line...so don't send your model out in a hideous dress! and did anyone catch her, "If I had of had the chance I would have" in terms of swapping her model. Someone needs to be taking grammar lessons from her model.

do u mind me asking who is "she" when u say "she is totally in the wrong here?"

By the way, i work in reality tv and i fully understand where karalyn is coming from. producers edit what they want to make "good tv." they want to create this drama so viewers and we bloggers have juice to talk about. im sure since this show is a competition is for the models too, karalyn would never throw leanne "under the bus" because she doesnt want to go home either.

welcome to reality tv ya'll

I'm not sure which girl you think is in the wrong either.

Hey boys: I am also unclear of who you think is in the wrong (I think YOU think it's Leanne, since you then say "And here's Karalynn's take...", which would seem to indicate supporting evidence of your opinion.

As overdesigned as her dress was, I'm with Leanne on this one:

1) If i was a model and I wasn't all that pleased with the dress, I'd keep my trap shut, and smile and say it's exactly what I wanted. Basically, I'd lie my a** off.

2) This model should know that if Leanne was auf-ed, it's MORE THAN LIKELY that Karalynn is heading out the door on the next challenge in the obligatory "winner: do you want to keep your model or swap out?" session at the beginning of the episode.

I think you all don't like Leanne and aren't being objective. If you designed and worked your HEART out, and your model says ANYTHING negative about your work, you're going to be sh*tty. I would be.

Leanne actually handled her "talkin' to" very well -- if it was me, I'd be like "look honey -- shut your mouth, look pretty, and smile -- if the judges ask you anything, just say you love the dress, and it's totally what you wanted."

I agree Karalynn's response is thoughtful, but she has to realize that these designers work their a**es off, and she needs to be supportive outwardly to the JUDGES, even if secretly she is not. If not, she's likely going home herself.

Let's not forget that the model was the client and as a client she's entitled to express how she feels about the garment. And as I always, they can edit footage but at the end of the day they don't put words in your mouth.

Okay, but she is a client who, in expressing how she feels about the garment, can find herself auf'd along with her designer - which makes her a rather different kind of client.
Frankly, Karalyn's comments don't jibe. She says she had no specific design request except that the outfit have pockets and a belt, which Leanne provided. So why then does she say, when asked by Heidi, that the dress was not what she expected? Or are we meant to believe that her words were digitally altered or taken out of context or re-edited so that her response was to another question or something? I don't buy it.

The producers need to force Leanne to drink two gallons of strong black coffee before she is allowed to speak on camera. Maybe that will goose her energy up and we won't be subjected to that Prozac drawl of hers. Girl sounds like she's doped to the gills. I can't take it!

Alas, there's nothing we can do about the blouses.....

Leanne is exhibiting some serious denial. It's not as though the judges thought her dress were one of the top contenders, and then changed their minds when they heard what Karalyn had to say. It quite simply was a poor showing for her, and the blame for that lies solely with her.

I agree the dress was fugly and Leanne is delusional to think otherwise, but doesn't Karalyn here speak about how everyone, including herself, loved the outfit and fawned over it backstage? Doesn't she also express surprise that it almost got Leanne, and herself, auf'd? She states, "I was very confident in Leanne's dress the whole time."

Please, her model did NOT leave her out to dry. She simply made the very honest statement that it wasn't what she imagined. Big deal.

I like Leanne. But her response is emotional and not smart.

this sounds like spin to me -- i don't see how anyone could have looked at that gawd-awful schmatta and actually think it looked great. leanne truly is delusional if she thought she was out there because it was one of the best. at least she redeemed herself with episode 3's design. i guess we'll have to "watch what happens...."

I am SO amused by Leanne chalking up the fact that her designs are unappreciated because she's being "too creative."

Oh my... that's entertainment!

I don't get most of the posts here. Since the challenge was ostensibly about "pleasing the client" how is the model not hanging the designer out to dry by saying it wasn't what she imagined (i.e., asked for)? When you are in the bottom three and the judges ask your model what she thinks of the outfit and the model expresses ambivalence how is this not a big deal? Wouldn't it be a big deal to be auf'd? And since when was the role of the model to make a "very honest statement" about what she thinks of the dress. Her job is to SELL the outfit.

"It's not what I expected..." might've just been her FIRST words. Ever seen "Shear Genius", people? "How do you like your new hair?" "Well, I'm not comfortable in it, but I think that might just be from the drastic change." In my theory, she backtracked, but the backtracking was edited out.

Leanne does sound medicated, maybe thats why she thinks that overworked unedited mess was too creative. But in all reality the model should keep her trap shut because she needs to stay in the game and more importantly the models served as muses, that dosen't mean client. I may be wrong correct me if I am but a muse is an inspiration of that person that inspires the designer to create an outfit. Lack for a better way of putting it. Seriously Leanne is annoying with her fashion assassin and I can't wait to see how see plays out. She seems like she will be shit talking behind alot of backs. She just strikes me that way.
