Princess Puffysleeves unveiled his collection for Blue Fly today and it's very Christian. We're not supercrazy about the metallic silk pieces, but the rest of it's nice. The only "issue," if you can call it that, is the price point. It's a little high for an unknown designer.
Still, if you're dying to own a piece of The House of Siriano, now's your chance.
black cotton sateen 'Park Ave' shirt dress
black metallic wool 'Dinner at 8' jacket
grey jersey 'Transylvania' crewneck t-shirt
gold silk 'Heidi' pencil skirt
black cotton 'Posh' puff sleeve blouse
black cotton sateen 'Motorcross' skinny pants
black plaid taffeta 'London Guard' ruffle jacket
gold silk 'Red Carpet' shift dress

I really like the dinner jacket, but I hesitate to buy something like that without being able to try it on first. To bad it's not in stores.

Holy cow! I just looked at the prices. $96 for tshirt? Never mind.

I had the Park Ave shirtdress in '86.
And the exposed zipper on the tight tight pants???
Advertising?
LOVE the metallic dress!
$600 for a blouse???!!! On "sale" no less! If I'm going to spend $600 on a garment it'll be one of Emmett's fabulous coats that will last me a good 10 years and not look dated.
I think the shirt dress is adorable and the jacket looks very sharp. I refuse to go over and look at the prices, however, since the t-shirt is $96. Besides, it's not like any of them will come in my size anyway. ;o)
I understand why the prices are high, it's a limited production and the fabric he used is expenisive. But... BlueFly is kind of a place to shop for designer bargains and the Christain fan base is so young, I wonder if they have much disposable income...Anyway I'm glad to see his designs avalible to the public. And I hope they sell out.
I really love the dinner jacket, it's well tailored and would look fab with a lot of things =)
But the prices? Yeah. No.
Overall, the collection is young and fun - thumbs up for Pocket Gay =)
Lovely, but definitely for those with puffy wallets. I kind of dig the "Heidi" pencil skirt.
I hate the shoulder lasagna.
Everything else is nice, though. Well, except the metallics, yeah.

Exactly. If I'm on Blue Fly to shop I'd rather spend that much money on a well-established designer.
Love the black shirt dress and jacket, but I don't $300 & $400 love them.
Not sure if I like the noodles but they look well made and interesting.
I like it. It's very PPS. Congratulations, Christian!
Shit, I can't resist, I'm going to have to buy something.
love love the first one. too rich for my blood.
Congrats, Christian! Not really my style but it all looks very well made a very "House of Siriano".
That first shirt dress is atrocious, as is the blouse with the sheer puffs. Same for the exposed zipper pants. Ugh.
The dinner jacket, on the other hand, is really beautiful, and I like the short taffeta jacket as well. However, someone will have to buy them for me, because there is no way I'd pay that kind of money for them, no matter whose name is on the label.
That's some name-dropping there!
I like it a lot especially the first look.
I like it but I do wish he could have incorporated some color.
Congratulations, Christian, you're a real designer now!
Well he is living up to his nickname...
PPS
but the prices...
I'm with dubois. I would rather spend it on an Emmett product that I could wear for several years.
Please, somebody, buy something and show us that the construction is excellent.
(Seams finished, not frayed. Underlining where needed.
Hems perfect.)
The pieces are very Christian and I hope, for his sake, that the line is wildly successful.
The question I have is about Bluefly: this line is *EXCLUSIVE* to the site. Why bother listing everything as "You save 20%."? Who are they fooling? It's not like I have the option to go anywhere else and pay "full" retail price anyway!
These pieces are perfectly priced for the Contemporary Market. If you look in Better Boutiques and Department Stores (EMc2 included) these would be the prices you would find. Even BCBG has similar prices.
Any "unknown" designer must sell there merchandise at this price point. Someone who is doing a small collection cannot manufacture in China which is the only way to make your price point lower.
The key is that he made a nice collection with quality pieces and got them into the market quick!
Congrats to Christian, he is definitely making things happen!

But this isn't a better boutique or department store. This is a discount online fashion site.
Great looks! Congratulations, Christian!!!
The shirt dress is beautiful.

I've bought many items on BlueFly and everything comes impeccably packed and it's always the highest quality. The sell the best designers in the world. And no, I wasn't paid to say this : - )

This is very true. Although I think Bluefly saw the opportunity to team up with Christian and his prices are still comparable to others on the site. I'm sure he saw it as a good opportunity because you can best believe Bluefly dealt with all the Production of this collection. He was defintetly not racing around Manhattan dealing with sewers, patternmakers, labels, hangers etc, etc... He designed, chose fabrics, did a few fittings and now collects a check.
Awesome! I love Christian!!
that last dress is FUG.
The rest is very PPS. Good for him!
I LOVE THE JACKETS!! and the fabrics he used for them, fabulous.
its rather cute and totally expected
but the pieces are a tad bit too high

Bluefly saw the opportunity of teaming up with Christian, really?
I believe part of the prize for winning PR was the winning designer would get the opportunity to sell their line on Bluefly.com .
Furthermore did Bluefly deal with all the manufacturing of this collection, because my understanding of the company is that they are a clearing house for designers, in other words they buy directly from the designer/manufacturer overstocked items that have not sold to department store. The designer sells to Bluefly at a lower price than they would to a Department store because there is less choice in size, color, and it is late in the season ect..If Bluefly really did take the entire finacial risk of manufacturing this small line and paid him in full before it sold, Christain won a huge prize indeed.
One more thing, if Christain wants to do a "couture" type line he should be very involved in the details like labels, where it is manufactured, hangers, and especially the patternmaking . That is not to say he should do it himself, just be very involved. It will make or break you.

That was my understanding as well. And it's part of the prize for winning the current season as well.
I bought the black dress & black shirt!! cant wait till I get it!! I have been waiting so long for his line!!!
I like this collection, particularly the black pieces. he uses this color well.

I agree, not a lot, but just enough to make me think twice about it.
It must be doing well. Either the pieces are sold out or there are few sizes remaining. The last gold dress, like one that Columbia might wear in the Rocky Horror Picture Show with Mary Janes, has lots of sizes left. So that must not be too popular. Looks to be a success for Christian. Congrats.
I wonder how that Transylvania shirt is going to look after it's been washed a couple times. I bet the shoulder lasagna looks terrible afterward!
If anyone buys this one, please let me know. I'm very curious to hear how this piece in particular holds up.
damnnn everything is going FAST.
Good for PPS! I'm certain it will ALL sell out. Fast. Believe you me, there are gilrs/women out there with the money for this stuff.
Personally, I lovelovelove all of it. It's very PPS. Very wearable. And not at all costumey. As far as the shoulder lasagna on the tee not washing well --- for $100 I'd have it professionally laundered or drycleaned.

Mostly unflattering and pricy. Perfect for PPS, yes?

Totally agreed. I just bought the ruffle jacket and skinny pants. They look beautiful and of high quality. Want to buy the black dress as well but don't have my size. Go Christian!!
