Good heavens Frau Seal, you're beautiful!

Workin' it.

Heidi wore an original, custom-designed Galliano last night to the Oscars and for once, we have not one bad thing to say about it. She looked fabulous - although there was WAY too much red on the red carpet last night.

The dress will go up for auction at MyCokeRewards.com with proceeds helping to build awareness for women’s heart disease on behalf of the Red Dress Campaign for Heart Truth.

Okay, we lied. We do have one bad thing to say:

Her jewelry looks like it came out of a bubble gum machine.

Heidi and Seal on the red carpet with Miss Seacrest:

Check out our Tom & Lorenzo blog for our thoughts on the red carpet dresses tomorrow.

UPDATE:
Of course she had to ruin it by dressing up as The Human Disco Ball for Elton John's after party.

Thank you! My dreams coming true..!

Yes, Heidi looked amazing. I liked her jewelery though except the combo of those two rings on one hand. Hair is stunning too. Why don't they put Tim Gunn on the red carpet? With YOU guys. My crystal ball says.....

The one on her ring finger looks like one of those lollipop rings. Did she sneak any licks?

Kanani said...

I loved the dress and the color.

This afternoon, I'm going over to visit a friend at the Peninsula. It'll be interesting to see who's still around.

By the way, Daniel Day Lewis looked rather dashing, I thought.

katiecoo said...

Ok just looked at the video and Heidi has THE BEST response to "who are you looking forward to seeing tonite?". She says, paraphrasing "no one, I'm here with my Man". That has just got to have every straight man out there drooling among everything else about her. She's broken every preconceived notion I ever had about her as a Victoria's Secret model, in a good way. I love her down to earth, just niceness.

I think she looked gorgeous (ok, in a barbie doll way) but still, beautiful! The jewelry is hideous...and pink?

Anonymous said...

Heidi looks gorgeous! Thank you for these great pictures. I love the back of the dress.

She looks amazing! Wow! What a beautiful dress. Whoever said she doesn't look good in red is wrong.

YAY!! I can't wait for your commentary tomorrow. Heidi looks great. I didn't know it was her first time attending the Oscars. Cool!

GothamTomato said...

I think the Red Dress Campaign was the reason so many others were wearing red as well.

I think the jewelry would have been more appropriate on that little girl from 'Attonement'. It was cute, but just not right for a woman of a certain age, at the Oscars.

I just caught "Miss Seacrest". HAHAHA!

Off Topic-

I thought the funniest moment last night was when Randolph Duke was looking at Jennifer Hudson and said, "Well, she sure loves to wear jersey. I have nothing else to add."

I thought the cut of her dress made her boobs look like they were being held hostage in a gunny sack.

Anonymous said...

Custom designed...hmmm...that collar sure reminds me of Chris/Christian's dress this season and Chris's dress for the art challenge. Maybe Heidi really liked it.

Gorgeous Things said...

That was one fabulous dress. I would wear that, and it would look great!

Seriously, I thought that was one of the most beautiful red dresses in a sea of dowd. The other was Anne Hathaway's Marchesa dress.

Stubenville said...

What, no Diamonelle™ product placement for Frau Seal? And what's with the Princess Leia Organa bun glommed on the back of her head?

Sage said...

Ha! The 'product placement' is Heidi's own clover line. ;)

Gorgeous gown. She looks incredible. Love the Chris March vibe. :)

Bill said...

The dress looks better in your caps than I thought it looked while she was moving in it.

She still looked great, but I thought the hair looked like a little wicker basket stuck on the back of her head. I thought perhaps she had packed a lite picnic dinner in it in case the show ran long.

Anonymous said...

the dress was gorgeous!!! and I also got some of the Chris/Christian collar vibe in it. who was the designer?
contrary to many here, I thought the jewelry was fabulous!

Heidi looked amazing!

I've got a question for anyone...

Screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno), was wearing something that looked A LOT like Uli's Bryant Park collection. Anyone know who designed it??

Anonymous said...

This dress is my favorite of all the gowns Heidi has ever worn on the red carpet. She looks STUNNING!

Anonymous said...

Stunning!! I can't understand her! She can look this divine and then turn around and wear a cookie monster outfit? I'm stumped!

This outfit tho - delicious!

yay! so excited for tomorrow :D

No bangs!

The dress is amazing.

Anonymous said...

Many people, here and otherwise, mocked Chris March's last gown with the collar as being too "costumey," and this dress is very similar to it, with the Chris Marchesque collar. I loved both Chris' dress and this one.

I did NOT love her fake bun - whoa! That much hair might pull Heidi backwards, right onto the red carpet!

Anonymous said...

Actually, I didn't mind all the red dresses. They were a nice change from the steady stream of black dresses. I look forward to your fashion blogging--can't wait to see your snark about Tilda.

Anonymous said...

Looking at Heidi's dress from the back, she has the draping that Chris had on the front of his Art Challenge Dress, plus the collar, and the fact that the dress was custom, makes me agree with someone else here that Ms. Klum really liked Chris' Art dress, and that she wanted something similar to it. It is almost as though she took Chris' dress, toned the collar down, and turned it around for her Oscar look. Nice. I like it.

Anonymous said...

Love the Nina video.
She's right about it taking a lot of work to be a designer.
I think of Sweet P over there on a manufacturing over in China when she got word from PR to put together a collection. Now that's someone who didn't waste any time looking for a job once PR was over. That's a working designer! I'm sure she's got a similar job now.

Kanani said...

Sweet P was blogging for MTV last night about the Oscar fashions.

"Oohh crap…who is that guy? Is he drunk? Whoa, it’s Gary Busey."

I think the spoken commentary which will be up tomorrow will be better.

PhantomMinuet said...

Frau Seal looked fabulous in red, which is usually the case. But I will give that dress props...it was stunning.

And may I commend Heidi for properly dressing her hair. If I have to look at one more starlet dressed in a fabulously expensive designer gown while sporting (no pun intended) apres-gym hair on the red carpet, I'm going to do someone a physical injury. I loathe that look.

Anonymous said...

Collar for the Galliano confection and the work of SissyBear in Avant Garde and the MMA Challenge share the "big frame" theme. Others picked up on that similarity.

Having Galliano as an inspiration is no bad reference point. Or vice versa, as the case may be (which would be MIGHTY interesting), but I doubt we would ever know the real backstory.

All the best,

Considering how heart disease is the #1 killer of women, it was nice to see lots of women wearing red dresses this year. If women wear red dress pins, why not red dresses too?

ChristopherM said...

I thought it was hot, but I have to say if Sissy Bear had sent that down the runway, they would have called it costumey and derivative.

Anonymous said...

My first thought was that Heidi was like the wedding guest that is trying to outshine the bride. This wasn't her night. She should have toned down that dress.

Anonymous said...

Why was Heidi at the Oscars? Was/Is she involved in the movie business? Someone please enlighten me.

Anonymous said...

The red dresses seem to be the best dresses this year.

Heidi Klum and Katherine Heigl were stunning in red last night. They were easily the best dressed at the Oscars last night (although I preferred last year's dresses. I LOVED Reese Witherspoon's eggplant gown, one of my favorites of all time).

Even Anne Hathaway looked pretty chic in her red number.

it's a shame Cameron Diaz's dress was wrinkled at the bottom as it had a lot of potential.

biggest disappointment: Nicole Kidman. Lover her balenciaga dress from least year and this black dress seems almost dowdy despite the gigantic necklace. Still she looks beautiful, but what a waste of what is probably last night's most expensive accessory.

Anonymous said...

Another great title. At least now I've replaced "Roam" in my head with "She Blinded Me With Science"!

Anonymous said...

What a pretty picture Heidi was last night!

My favorite dresses were Jessica Alba's and Anne Hathaway's. Diablo Cody's dress was interesting, but she had to work too hard holding the front slit together so we wouldn't see her tootie.

Anonymous said...

Wow.
Frau Heidengoof Von Titzenseal really looked the part (& for a good cause--nice)!
Yeah, what's w/ that jewelry? She on a budget? C'mon! Like some crafter tried to bead macrame.

Emma P.

I'm w/ Kanani. DDay Lewis looked splendid. Very unique w/out the pimp flash (Wesley? Purple?).

Anonymous said...

Anon12:15 - Diablo Cody's dress was by Dior. :)

Daniel Day Lewis could wear Costco and he'd still look gorgeous in a grunge-meets-poetry kind of way.

Though I have to say.... what was with his wife's dress?

Wow, she looked awesome, and I have to disagree about the jewelry, I think it is fabulous. You know that gaudy costume jewelry is all the rage in Hollywood right now. All the stars are wearing it.

Also, I am so proud of Sweet P and her gig. You go girl! I guess others have a higher opinion of her that some people (person) do. Way to go Sweet P.

Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou for upcoming red carpet commentary - cannot WAIT!!!

Oh yes, when I first read that you had nothing to say I was appalled because that jewelry - yech!

Seacrest was so incredibly vulgar and stupid during the 6-8 (EST) slot that I was relieved, yes relieved, when they switched over to Regis Philbin for the "official" red carpet special.

While I love red, there was, in my view, way too many icky shades of red this year. My favorite reds were worn by two women who are beyond our judgment on fabulosity: Julie Christie and Helen Mirrin.

I loved the gown that Tilda was wearing, it looked ravishing on her. Also loved that costume designer that won for the Queen Elizabeth I movie. And Anne Hathaway.

Silver outfit: meh

Off topic: According to my husband, while I was at work on Saturday, our 6 year old daughter, the rabid PR fan, was playing with some of her Littlest Pet Shop toys. (For those not in the know, they are little animals that are about 3 inches high) Apparantly the toys were getting on a bus, and she came to last two and said "One of you will be in and one of you will be out." She looked at the two creatures for a minute then said "Seal, you are in." When I was told the story, I said "Heidi would say the same thing." (Daughter does not know Heidi's husband is Seal)

Anonymous said...

As per the comment about Julie Christie, WOW! She looked amazing. Did she have work done or is that just good genes. She looks like she's in her 40's and I know that's not possible.

Also, what happened to Heidi's cleavage? Did she get them removed?

This dress looks like Chris' art dress. Interesting. Maybe that's what Chris' dress needed: to be longer and not so stiff.

Anyway, can't wait to read your comments tomorrow and watch PR on Wednesday. In the preview its looks that Chris gets decent reviews from Nina and Michael does not like Rami's very much.

Granted, the mirrored disco ball dress is little a bit tacky, but it's hardly surprising. We all know Heidi and her enduring fondness for bright things that glint and sparkle. She's like a tall, German magpie...she just can't resist Teh Shiny. :-)

Anonymous said...

I think I am going to be the exception here, but I was not a huge fan for Frau Seal's dress. I thought the bust line looked wonkey and flattened out her boobs. Heidi has a great rack and she should put'em out there and show them off. Yes, even gay men can appreciate a nice rack. ;-) PasGuy1965

I love red dresses to start with, so really loved her gorgeous red dress. The FIRST thing I thought was "Oh, large assymetric collar, huh?" Then the detail at the waist line as well. It was fabulous.

The jewelry was some special collection - they were talking about it in an afternoon pre-show, but I wasn't paying much attention so don't know the story. Apparently several celebrities were wearing similar pieces - the ring and bracelet were the ones they showed.

The silver dress looked like the product of a PR challenge to recreate an iconic 70's item.

Oh no, this silver stuff.

And after that lovely red dress.

But you've got to hand it to her, after having babies and all that, the body is fabulous.

Just musing for a moment - she looks to me like a Star Trek character in this, except for the very low cut front (never on 60s TV!) and the shoes. White knee-high patent leather boots would have gone just fine and completed the look.

Heidi was one of the best-looking on the red carpet, I do believe. That red dress was beautiful on her! The jewelry was a little Claire's, though.

I just wish this whole glittery, disco-y, "Beyonce" way of party dressing would GO AWAY. It's happening way too much, and hard on the eyes.

On the other hand Herr and Frau Seal are a charming couple. They seem to really enjoy each other's company.

I agree- Heidi is unfailingly tactless and bitchy. Her response to "who are you looking forward to seeing?" was stunningly graceless. The "no bra" comment was just oafish and crude.

It's the curse of the beautiful woman-- so used to being constantly cooed over, often they forget to develop character.

Joanie said...

Heidi's dress looks much better in the photos here than what I saw. So many pics I found early on made the red seem oranger, which totally doesn't work on her.

I do take exception to the brightness of the red used. Slightly toned down would have been nicer, but I've noticed that glaring red seems to be the thing right now. Saw it on the runway, on the red carpet, in the freakin' stores. Blech.

The jewelry looked like it came as part of a gumball machine prize or from Claire's bargain bin.

The party frock? Remind me to hire Heidi as a human disco ball for my big party after I win the lottery.
