It all looks well made and clean like most of his stuff, but nothing new. I like the oranges and the zebra coat. And yes I could see his mom wearing all of it. Hey that set has a lot of money and they can afford it, so why not?
Do you think the giant hats and sunglasses make you think of someone hiding out after they just had plastic surgery?
Except for 3 or 4 designs, I LOVE this collection. Clean, chic, and right on target for the resort crowd. Michael knows his clients. He designs perfectly for the female form. My sister wears Kors almost exclusively. His clothes just really work!
Eh. I think Uli's resort wear is MUCH better.

The only one I like is the very first one. But being a fab BWN, I can tell you it's your standard sheath dress that takes all of a couple of hours to make. Basic.

he did a good job marrying his practical-chic american aesthetic with resort wear.
groundbreaking, i think intentionally not, but it had some really good pieces that could become of that collection.
At least that bitch is done ripping off Laura Bennett and Uli Herzner. He was suck a prick to them during the competition, then he steals ideas from their designs (Claire Danes wore a dress that looked like a Laura that was a Kors and I just found a Kors dress on Bluefly.com that looks like an Uli). I can't f-ing stand The duchess for that.

I agree with all the people who said that he's designing for his mother and her friends. The stuff is lovely if you're 70, not so much if you're 17, although there are a couple of things I would wear at my age (40+)!

well, i can see how some designs can be for his mother, but he definitely does not design for 17 yo or for older women who cannot wear a mini. some things of the collection i like, but mostly i feel upset because i cannot go to any of those resorts where people wear those clothes :-(

The Hamptons meets disco meets the $100 black and white challenge. Sounds like he is getting his inspiration from late night infomercials, Project Runway reruns, and Showtime oldies. *shrug* The sheath dress was lovely though.

Well, I was kinda kidding, but to my mind (and I think this is right), a muumuu is sort of a boxy dress with set-in sleeves, whereas a caftan is drape-y, without actual sleeves, like the MK one.

I must say, I was very much reminded of the '60s, and Mrs. Onassis, and Audrey H. (not that that's necessarily a bad thing).
Animal prints are very in right now. I can't stand them. Seriously, who the fuck wants to look like an animal?
Call me old-fashioned (though maybe, as a teenager, I'm a bit too young to claim that title) but the phrase "not so much" really makes me wince. It was fun for a while, but I don't even know what it means anymore.

Some of those designs evoke Audrey Hepburn in 'Two for the Road' but that's not a bad thing because she looked fabulous from start to finish in that film.
And I love black and white together for summer when it's done right. I thought those were some of his more successful looks. Color is nice, but that shade of orange can be hard to pull off, not to mention it would clash with the spray-on orange the Duchess seems so fond of.
I like them, and I'd wear them all - but then, I'm a 50 yr. old mom and probably don't know any better.
I think the difference between a muu-muu and a caftan is about 40 lbs. If you're thin, it's a caftan, if not, it's a muu-muu. BTW, is it a coincidence that it's the same sound a cow makes? And yes, folks, I'm overweight, so don't crucify me for a fat comment.

I actually *like* the caftan, among other items. (Mumus are of Hawaiian origin; caftans have a Middle and Far Eastern history. Some use the terms interchangeably, some differentiate based on sleeves, drape, fabric, etc. Po-tay-toe, po-tah-toe.)
Much as I love-beyond-words Uli's outfits, most of them aren't things I could actually wear. There are several of MK's that I could (and if my bank account were happier, would).

I see his clothes being sold in Macy's and I have to say that I am not impressed. They are overpriced and mostly boring. This collection doesn't seem any different than anything else he is currently selling. And a Mumu? What was he thinking? I know there are larger size woman asking for designer clothing but I am sure they don't mean that they want to wear a tent.
This collection leaves me bored into a nap. Resort is a place to do color and have a little fun. We're vacationing, remember? Even if a woman is older than dirt, her skintone can still benefit from a good red and grey-white hair looks smashing with turquoise blue.
Gawd, that crap is just as bland as boiled whitefish.
