Kittens, check it out! The first chapter of "A Guide to Quality, Taste & Style" by Tim Gunn and Kate Moloney is up here. What a fabulous illustration!

Got the book last week, then spent the weekend cleaning my closet. Tim's methodology for closet-cleaning and wardrobe-redefining is pure genius, and I'll make everyone else buy the book in order to find out what it is, but it WORKS! And so much "double take" humor in the book.
Fabulous! The cover is gorgeous!
Sell it through your website. I'll buy it here.

The style of the cover illustration looks similar to Emmett and Chloe's Banana Republic Window display. Any chance Emmett did the cover?
Oh my god. Best book since DV, I predict. In just the first chapter he wrote that he can't go back from black, that he loves the fact that I exist (and I you, Tim!) and the firefighters were icing. I loved it! He's wonderful.
I have been thinking that it would be nice to see some pictures of you Tom and Lorenzo from your youth? Perhaps on Project Gay? Would you take a little trip down memory lane for your fans?

As far we know, the illustrations are by Lainé Roundy.

LOL. The cover matches your site, darlings!
I thought I couldn't respect Tim Gunn more, and then he makes a reference to Gustav von Aschenbach.
And by the way- I second Anne's comment.

Tim Gunn is too fabulous for words. I can't wait to get the book.
Love him we must, and love him we do!
I love Tim Gunn. If I get the nerve I might take a road trip to go to his signing in Conn.
The book is fabulous! I got my copy this week.
Tim is a wonderful man and I'm happy for all his success.
Thank you for the link, boys. It's interesting to read that Tim Gunn is not a fan of the work of Galliano.
I can't open myspace in work--darn tech dudes! Can anyone tell me if/when Tim will be in Philly for book signing? I need to drag my coworker with me.
The Godfather of style, the hardest working man in fashion! How can you not adore the man?? I bought the book for my 15 year old daughter for her birthday and she was mad for it! Given the amount of loot she got, I was highly amused it was her favorite gift. I'll have to get a second copy, as I can't pry it out of her hands now..
I just wish I had an address so I could drop him a tasteful, handwritten note of thank for spreading some graciousness into this world- as we are in dire need of it.
P.S.- Love you T&L! Minerva awaits YOUR book so she can get it for her next birthday!
Tim has a book signing in Ridgewood! Am I fabulous enough to meet up with you guys and go to it?

I just got an email from Amazon--my copy just shipped! Yea! (I had it on pre-order, but it dropped off the radar.)
Love the illos--they remind me of the sketches from one of the Edith Head books (either Dress for Success or The Dress Doctor--as I'm replacing both, I can't say which it was.)
I just wish they were choosing people from other states for the show--there's a whole lotta country that isn't 30 minutes from NY, and a lot of us {raising hand now} need assistance. We have a fashion statement--is says "HELP ME."
I got my copy today!! I'm so excited!!! I love the illustrations. They're so gay and fabulous.
There is something truly bizarre about Tim doing a signing in Naperville! I'd have thought Unabridged Bookstore in Boystown would have been more his style (pun intended!). Or even the Border's in downtown Chicago. But the white bread 'burbs????
jlp: But the white bread 'burbs????
****
The 'burbs need Tim more than anyone else. "Little houses on the hillside, little houses made of tickytack..." The suburbs give a whole different meaning to "gee, they all look the same to me."
Brandenburg3, that would be "little boxes....." and THATS just what they are!
I am half way through the book and all I can say is Tim has the most unbelievable vocabulary I have ever seen. The mans IQ MUST be genius level.
Gawd, this site is friggin' snarky, I LOVE IT! Maybe if I bought this book I wouldn't go around wearing Gap hoodies and yoga pants. Brill. Loves.
Oops.
How could I make a lyric faux pas like that??? Thanks, Suzanne!
I don't have my copy of Tim's book (it will be here by Friday!!!), but from what I've read, I already love it. The first time I watched PR, Tim's command of the English language had me captivated. When a designer would give him a baffled look over "consternation" or "mitigate" I wanted to reach through the screen and shake him/her silly. Ye gods, the one person on TV who isn't "dumbing down" his speech for the lowest common denominator, and you look at him as though he's speaking Aramaic?! Fie!
Obviously Tim assumes that his readers will have functioning gray matter, for which I cheer him on, thank him, bless him... and bet that he slaughters opponents in Scrabble and Boggle. {swoon}
Thank you for the link to chapter one--I had some Bravo problems until just now, so after visiting the PRG playground this was my first chance to read it.
Oh.
My.
God.
I hope to hell Tim keeps on with the literary career. When I wasn't laughing like crazy, I was nodding in agreement, wincing ("Must gouge out mind's eye!"), or casting furtive glances toward my closet. Damn, that man can write.
Part of me wishes he could be here to fling things with great abandon into the charity box... the other part is glad he isn't, because he'd faint from shock and horror.
Time to break out the sewing machine and start from scratch.
Tim, dahling, u r my style god!
I met Tim Gunn and Kate Moloney at Lambda Rising Books in DC yesterday. They are both so gracious and talented. The two compliment each other wonderfully. Tim was so down to earth and open. I much enjoyed hearing him talk about the book and PR. I bought 2 copies, one for a gift, and of course my own copy. Tim and Kate posed for a couple photos with me. It was an excellent morning.
The book store sold all of their copies of the book, so they announced that those needing a copy could run down the street and get it from another bookstore. If you are going to a signing I suggest you arrive early to get your copy. I was there about an hour before Tim and Kate were scheduled to arrive. There were already about 15 people ahead of me. Later the line was around the entire store. Don't miss a chance to meet Tim and Kate, you will definitely enjoy yourself!
