There's a party on the Seine and everyone's coming!

Fille! Le Fierce! Now that's what we're talking about! Bitch looked FABULEUSE! The hair, the dress, the shoes, the jewelry, the sunglasses - talk about looking put together. Loved it!

The only way this picture could possibly look any more French is if Catherine Deneuve popped out of a giant croissant dressed like Edith Piaf singing La Marseillaise.

We think Mme. Malandrino has a little thing for our Hip-Hop Knight in Seersucker! How charming was he?

Great job on the "party," Bravo. We've been to birthday parties for 5-year-olds that were more involved than this. You rented a boat and put a bucket of free champagne out. Big frikkin whoop. We were sorely disappointed, but probably not as much as the designers were.

Work them beads, girl!

That party was like the anti-party.

I totally disagree about Madame M. She looked drawn, more Paris Hilton, than Parisienne. Her outfit was fun, but not fab.

Was Malandrino's dress a Malandrino? Or another designer?

Loved the dress!

THAT is my new ultimate drag queen fantasy. Thank you boys for spreading gay camp from sea to shining sea!

as fergus said, love that little phrase. . . . and the boat. what a let down. french glamour? hardly. looked like these old ratty ass country boy houseboats we've got down here plying the rivers and "cricks." ;-) better than a trailer, i suppose, but still a ratty ass boat.

boys. the shoes. kookoo-vincent and malandrino's shoes. i think he . . . um . . . sprinkled them with something, some "got auf" body fluids. "are those your shoes?" well no, dumbass, but they're on my feet. . . what was that about?

malandrino = gloria steinem in her heydey with dark hair.

A little bit about Catherine Malandrino:

The Label

In 1998 Malandrino introduced a higher-end collection, Catherine Malandrino Limited Edition, an exclusive 90-piece line with an equally high price point. She now has stores in New York's' Soho and Meatpacking districts, East Hampton, and L.A. After a few seasons of playing with accessories, Malandrino is finally launching her first full shoe collection, which hit the runway for her spring 2006 show.

The Look

Roughed up romantic looks in neutral palettes, fitted silhouettes, attention-getting sleeves, layers and netting, knitwear, negligee-inspired silks, and playful accents like hardware on shoulders.

Find out more about Catherine Malandrino and her collections here and here.

You're right. The "party" looked lame, and the designers looked like they were having major dental work done, they looked positively miserable. It had that whole "I swear I'm having a good time. Really. Really. I promise. I'm having a blast" vibe. Blah.

Originally it was supposed to be Jean Paul Gaultier (according to the Podcast). I wonder if Vincent would have hit on him too?

Do we think he is smart enough to have known if she had a shoe collection? Is that what he meant when he asked are those "your" shoes?

I'm sorry but I have no idea who she is nor do I have the desire to Google Ms. "Malaguena" - she seemed, to me, about as fabulous as a can of corn.

I believe that should be "brioche" :)

Well had they added the two of you on that French soiree boat, what else could they have needed to get that party started (or obtenez que la partie a commencé if you prefer--thank you babelfish)? I mean...really? Oh, wait, a live action cam. Yeah, that.

"hardware on the shoulders"
You mean like hammers?

Piaf would be belting "La Vie En Rose," and Laura's shimmying beaded flapper sheath puts Frenchie's Apache look to shame.

I want to be you two when I grow up. Thank you for being two most awesome people ever.

Ugh, I was totally disappointed with the "party". I thought they were going to go to some crazy place with a bunch of hot couture designers and horny French models and gallons of champagne... This kind of sucked. I mean, a boat? Is that really the best you can do, PR?

Oh, dear. Am I the only one who thought the party was fab? Maybe it's because I'm a Virgo (though not an architect), but I thought it was beautiful. I can't imagine anything more fabulous than boating down the Seine, with the sights and sounds of Paris all around me.

Shoot, I've wanted to do the boat-on-the-Seine thing ever since I saw "Charade".

But, yes, I'm boring, so I can see where it might have seemed a bit sedate. Still . . . wouldn't it have been fun to be there? Just a little bit? I mean, I'd LOVE to have known what the French models were saying to each other, while standing against the rail and laughing.

Ahh, Edith Piaf!

Divine. French.Iconic.

Thanks for bringing back memories!

anyone know the title and/or artist of the song that plays when you are on catherine malandrino's web site?"

Hi pc,

Fabulous song, isn't it?

The title of the song is "No One Will Do" and the artist is Mary J. Blige.

I thought Catherine looked faboo! She's stylish yet always age-appropriate. And - it must be my European upbringing - I loved the party. Europeans are generally not as grand and flashy as Americans like to be. What could be more fun than a twilight river cruise in Paris?! With champagne! Sigh, looks like it's just you and I elizabeththe2nd.

As always, you Gayboys are the best - you bring sunshine to my days. Oh, what shall I do once the season is over?

That's what I thought at the time. 6 designers, 6 models, a camera crew, Mme Malandrino, and Tim Gunn. Except for the Tim Gunn part, that sounds pretty damn dull. Paris and the Seine at night notwithstanding.

A boat trip down the Seine in the twilight? Sounds like a nice respite from the frantic pace they were keeping. But then, I like boats and champagne, so maybe I'm prejudiced!

Boys,
Have you no mercy? Do you know how many AM coffee+keyboard disasters you are responsible for?
Deneuve, croissant, Piaf, and La Marseillaise all in one sentence. Would Tim have called her Zaftig? Must rest now until my sides stop splitting...

"What do you think, do you like it it? Tell me honestly what do you think?"

"I tink eet ees behRree EEntuhruhsteeng"

"Yes, but do you like it?"

"Eet ees uhn eentuhruhsteeng druss!"

I think she really wanted to say, "GAYT AHWHEYY FRUM MEE HYOU DEESGUSTEENG MAN!!"

She was SooOOOoOooo polite! To be followed up in writing by "No. No, no, no." LOL

At least she didn't say "O la la!" Sophie Albou used to say that ALL the time!I almost wanted to ask her, "And do you ride to work with a baguette on your bicycle basket every morning?"

Oh, and winged_sheep, she was wearing vintage Malandrino. I realize they got her because she DOES have shops to promote here in the US. I like her stuff - it's not for everyone, but last Spring was frothy and flirty with lots of intricate detail. And she had the hottest Euro doorman at her MPD store! Oh lala!

I have to say, the French in Paris were extremely nice to us, despite their reps. Of course, the same can be said about us New Yorkers... I hope.

I, too was hoping for a party with other french fashionistae that might comment on and pull apart the designers dresses. 'Twas a bit lame, in that regards, but I would have loved to have been on the Seine with them, anyway!

did anyone on shore ask about the garbage barge floating down the seine?

Thank you george for the wistful chuckle I just got on SATC Memory Lane remembering Anthony walking in to Chanel with Charlotte, checking out the doorman up and down and saying "Chanello". :D

I love everything about Catherine Malandrino; her hair, her glasses, her dress, the way she moves, the way she rinses dog poo off the bottom of her shoe (OK, I've never seen her do this but I'm sure she's great at it). Now that I've said that, the important question is, "what does she think of my dress?"
