Well kittens, believe it or not, tonight's the night. Make sure to pick up a bottle of wine and some snacks on the way home. To whet your appetite, check out what Tim Gunn said to PEOPLE about each contestant:
Blayne:
“The designers love him. His work is like his personality — exuberant. Blayne is hard to miss.”
Daniel:
“He’s intense — not the workroom jokester … I called him ‘the sweater.’ As in perspiration.”
Korto:
“Still waters run deep: She seems so quiet and reserved, almost reclusive. She’s not. Korto is going to tantalize people with her work.”
Emily:
“Emily is effervescent, very likable and a positive presence in the workroom. She’s a sweetheart but she’s serious about what she does.”
Jennifer:
“She’s very thoughtful, smart and she is driven by literature and classic films rather than the pop culture scene.”
Jerell:
“He’s very generous of spirit. And by that I mean he was frequently one of the first to finish and he would help other designers. And he’s wonderfully funny.”
Jerry:
“Jerry possesses an enormous amount of self-confidence. You can take that any way you want!”
Joe:
“He’s our one straight guy! He’s a guy’s guy and therefore he has a place on the show that’s very unique. Joe is also a family man and talks about what his daughters would wear.
Keith:
“Keith is all about innovation and experimentation. But you would never pick him out of a group as being a fashion designer — you look at him and see high school football jock.”
Kelli:
“She’s our rock and roller and she embraces that role. Kelli is a little ball of fire.”
Kenley:
“Kenley is our season five Project Runway Bettie Page. And she’s true to that role, let me tell you!”
Leanne:
“She’s a conceptual designer. And when the audience gets to know her she’s a person I think they’re really going to be rooting for.”
Stella:
“Looks are deceiving with a lot of these designers. If I saw her in a dark alley I’d run — but she’s a sweetheart!”
Suede:
“Suede is a good problem-solver. And he’s current and contemporary in what he produces compared to, say, a Kenley who’s a little more retro.”
Terri:
“I found her to be another excellent problem-solver. She knew how to make it work!”
“His designs are at the higher end of sophistication…beautiful work but there’s not a lot of risk-taking.”
And if you missed last night's very revealing preview, why, here it is:
And click here to find out the winner and loser of every episode as well as who's going to Bryant Park.
We almost got you with that one, didn't we?
Also, don't forget the live online after-show Watch What Happens: After the Sew with Andy Cohen featuring a live interview with the eliminated designer - with your questions - plus another Runway special guest. The show is available only to American Express cardholders. What the hell's up with that?

American Express cardholders only, huh? Another way for them to whore out the show. I think I will wait for TLo's take on the whole thing as I don't break out the Black card for just anything.
I can tell by the way he describes the designers who is there longer.
Some he is more descriptive about and some very vanilla. Like he didn't get much of a chance to get
to know them.
I never realized Austin was that tall.
I think Austin was wearing heels, wasn't he? Maybe I just always picture him wearing heels.
"And click here to find out the winner and loser of every episode as well as who's going to Bryant Park."
Ha! They might as well seeing as they are giving everything else up. Will there be no surprises at all this season? Much of the fun (for me at least) is trying to predict challenges and guest judges.
One could argue a subtle sabotage is in play.
"And click here to find out the winner and loser of every episode as well as who's going to Bryant Park."
While it isn't filled in yet, I have created a chart to track wins, aufs, top, bottom, and what ever else I can work into the spreadsheet. I was frustrated during Top Chef because I couldn't remember who won what. They has a chart like this on a blackboard in the stew room.
My chart in on Google Doc and anyone can view.

ROFL. Seriously. I can't wait!!!!
Love you boys! Thanks, TLo, for all the enticements. I'm looking forward to some Runway escapism once again during a very trying summer.
Gee, who'da thunk that my AmEx 'membership' for 31 years would offer TV viewer exclusivity? My annual membership fee will doubtless rise.....
All the best,
NDC
Wow, Trish, your spreadsheet is a fabulous idea! Thanks for sharing it. I know I'll be using it every Wednesday.

Well, at least we know whose bod is going to be screencapped this season!
As for the AmEx only aftershow, how do I declare that a business expense? :)
Wednesday To Do List:
--Buy Snacks
--Open wine bottle
--Turn on television
--Park butt in leather chair
--Enjoy :-)
OHMYGOD I can't fucking wait!!! Not to mention the day after with fabulous Tlo commentary!!!!!
I'm in love with Korto. I think she'll do great.
“It’s a real roller coaster,” says Gunn of Bravo’s fifth installment of the design competition, which premieres Wednesday (9 p.m. ET). “[Fans] are going to get mad — early! There are some big surprises: Favorites won’t be there anymore, and I can only imagine how the blogs are going to explode over some of the challenge winners. We say that each season has a different DNA and boy, is that true.”
Oh, boy!
I have a feeling that Wesley is going to be the judges' favorite.
I love Austin. Bravo should give hin his own show.
I'm in love with Keith! Please post more pictures of him. Wesley is cute too.
Keith is the hottest contestant EVER!
They should make it a requirement that Keith just be in a towel the whole time.
Oh I can't wait! Austin coming back is worth the price of admission!!!
The big day is finally here. It’s a day for which so many of us have impatiently waited for so long. I hope this season is filled with drama, fun, and fabulous designs.
It's about damn time they brought Austin back!
And what does Tim mean, exactly, about Kenley being like Bettie Page? Is she running around the workroom nude & posing on the worktables??
--GothamTomato
Very cool! I had no idea who Austin was. I know, I still have to go back and watch the other seasons.
And BTW, I love the use of Polaroids in the promo still. And it's an ironic choice given that Polaroid is defunct for the same reason PR is moving to Lifetime: Hubris and greed.
--GothamTomato
Who the heck has a American express card? NO ONE takes them.
I love that Austin is back. I hope he gets a lot of screen time.

Maybe she "dominates" other designers?
Or, she could just have a big 'ol riding crop and cuffs in her sewing kit. Things you have to do to be team leader and get things finished on time....
Ah, the excitement is building. More fresh meat. Like every season, I'll pick my fave from the first episode. My favorites have done pretty well in past seasons: 1 winner, 2 2nd place, and 1 4th place. Looking forward to a little more drama this season.
Trish, that was nice of you. The link seems to be incomplete, though.
I love Tim's pre-season designer sketches.
Is Daniel "the sweater" gonna pull a Daniel Franco Season One?
So, Keith "is all about innovation and experimentation" & I wonder: Will he fall apart when he can't get the sewing machine to do what he wants it to?
Sounds like Master Wesley, whose "designs are at the higher end of sophistication…beautiful work but there’s not a lot of risk-taking,” is gonna blow at a Supermarket challenge.
Terri, "another excellent problem-solver", and Suede, "a good problem-solver" sound like they'll bore Nina.
Straight guy, Joe, who "talks about what his daughters would wear" also sounds boring.
I don't think the "sweethearts" Emily & Stella are gonna last.
"Little ball of fire” Kelli sounds like she likes to stir the shit and Tim doesn't "get" her at all (but Nina does).
Jennifer & Leanne are my early faves, but
my picks for final 3:
"Still waters run deep" Korto
"hard to miss” Blayne
Jennifer or LeAnne
-- desertwind
PS - Who wants to see that camer hound Andy Cohen anyway?
PPS - Miss Austin Scarlett.
I'm so excited!!!

Hell, yeah. Pretty please, boys...
I think the "Bettie Page" characterization means she has a lot of tattoos and keeps snakes or ferrets.
Anyone posted this yet? It's a TV without Pity interview with the Season 5 designers, asking them what celebrity they think has the best sense of style. Not surprisingly, and yet horrifyingly, too many pick dear Heide:

TLo, is Alex gonna be back this season?
I hope he's okay. Loved his comix.

Damn Visa! Eh, I hate Andy Cohen anyway.

I know right? I have to go to the liquor store to buy a bottle of bourbon (I'm thinking Mint Juleps). But, is it tackier to take the kids into the Package Store with me or leave them on the curb, whilst I shop?
Is it a bad sign that the only thing I'm interested in about Episode 1 is Austin?
And I have an AmEx card (thank you, Costco) but I ain't breaking it out for Andy Cohen. The man drives me batty.

You don't have to pay anything. You just have to have the card.
"And click here to find out the winner and loser of every episode as well as who's going to Bryant Park."
Hahahaha. I love you bitches! I almost screamed when I read it.
Anon @ 1:25.
Uh, yeah, I know. I meant Andy isn't worth even taking it out of my wallet. I might pay NOT to listen to him though.
"Good night, dress!"
That's so cute. I love Austin. I can't wait to watch the episode tonight.
By the way. thank you so much for all the fabulous posts. Keep it up!

But Bettie Page didn't have tatoos & I've never heard anything about the ferrets.
Seems like bunnies would be more appropriate since the rumor has always been that Hugh Hefner has been supporting her since she fell on hard times in her latter years.

I bet Gotham Tomato is going to hate Kelli. Any guess why?
"Tlo said: (un-hunh. We think YOU see a football jock, Miss Gunn. Perhaps in just a jock? Can't say we blame you.)"
If Bravo was smart, they would hire you guys to do your own 'Pop-Up Video' version of PR, that would appear in the reruns.
Hear that Andy??
--GothamTomato
I've run into him a couple of times, and once we even talked a little. He's so nice and friendly.
I invited a bunch of friends and we're going to drink every time someone cries or says "I don't want to go home."
Sorry... I meant Austin.
Yawn
Oh is the new season tonight? I almost snoozed by it.
And if I have to watch Andy Cohen I'll need some hard liquor. Pats - Bolly? Stolly? Some smoked salmon nibbly things?
Andrea - the link is the last two lines. If I put it on one line, Blogger cut it off. I'll see if I can come up with a better link.

Hi Trish,
Here's a better link!
TLo
I just spent my lunch hour watching S1E1 in honour of the retread. Thoughts:
Austin really is the tallest.
Daniel Franco, what a wack job.
Co-ed rooms!
Wendy is already a calculating beotch.
Morgan drama!
Model selection for first episode.
I wouldn't be surprised if Starr were in a psych ward somewhere.
Wish Mario had gone farther, he was funny.
Jay was kinda svelte. And Tim not totally grey.
Nina & Heidi very bad flyaways. Austin's hair, however, is lovely.

Oh, I know, I was referring only to a subculture of her devotees. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I wonder what happened to Starr, Robert and Vanessa. Season 1 still is my favorite.
Stella is the real deal.
I am only a hair's breadth above a lurker here, posting every blue moon. But I've read devotedly since Laura was sitting on her luggage, and in fact I'd be horrified if anyone knew how many times I check in here and on TLo when I am working from home :) I am loving this last day of comments with more actual names than "Anonymous," with comments about the post, or Bravo, or the designers, rather than about other posters, and comments that generally make some kind of sense. We want traffic, traffic, and more traffic on the site for T and LO, but I'm enjoying this for now. The frenzy starts tomorrow!
My money's on Wesley for providing the first water works.
Austin, welcome back, you glittering butterfly! Does this make Austin a triple threat? Designer, model AND judge?
Gacm said:I am loving this last day of comments with more actual names than "Anonymous.
Well, I always use "Anonymous" because I am computer illiterate, and I don't have the patience to come up with a blog-name. I always sign my post's "StkrShock", so I am not really an "anonymous" lurker! Gosh, is there something wrong with us "anonymous" ones?
Anyway, mildly excited about tonight's show. Just not crazy about the designer's "personal style" so far.

Who cares? We're all "anonymous" in a way, aren't we? The great thing about this blog is that we have the freedom to be and say whatever we want. No strict rules.
Um, talking about people in the past tense? Can you talk about dead giveaway? Oh well. Whatev. I'm just glad tonight's the night.

I watched.
& if watching Andy Cohen's left eye wander into the next studio while he insists on being a condescending prat to an auf'd designer for 2:37mins is exclusivity, please, I'm begging you, hurry up & exclude me!
