Come back, Jack! Come back!

Wednesday, December 12, 2007 by

Well, they finally did it. Those bitches finally put together an episode that made us cry. We'll have PUH-LENTY to say later, but for now, OUTzone has an interview with the muscled one here.

"There’s this moment in the episode where you’re torn about it, and then you take Tim into the hall. What was that conversation like?
Well basically, I’m working on my outfit, and what happens with a bacterial infection is that it spreads really quickly, so initially it was just localized on my face. I was like, you know, looking ugly on TV isn’t my number one dream, but I can deal with that. And I mean, I worked really hard to get to this point. I auditioned twice. I’m not a women’s wear designer. I made a whole portfolio. I made all these dresses. I’m not going home if I can prevent it. But then I got to a certain point where … I’m malformed for one, and two -- once the infection gets advanced enough, it gets systemic and then you start to feel bad.

So I’m in the challenge, I’m worried about my face, they’re filming me. I can’t concentrate on my outfit. Then you start to make stupid mistakes. I’m like, “I can’t, this is not going well.” And then I also had to take into consideration the rest of the cast. If it’s contagious, is it safe? And so as much as I really didn’t want to, I just, finally Tim came up to me and said … he was reviewing, you know he comes by to review everyone’s outfit, and he’s like “So Jack, how’s that going?” and I’m like “Listen, I’m gonna need to talk.” And so we went into the lounge and obviously he can see by looking at me that I have some issues going on and I just think for the benefit of myself and the cast I have to withdraw ‘cause I just, it’s not a good place for me to be here right now. I need to take care of this and I don’t think it’s safe for me to be here. So, I was crying, and it was not cute, but had to go.

What did you feel about Chris March coming back?
I don’t like to badmouth other contestants because that’s just not my style. I understand why they did it, they had to fill a spot and he was the last one off. I don’t really think it’s fair. That’s all."

In other news, Tim's Take makes its triumphant and long overdue return! Also, Michael Kors will now be giving his weekly take on each episode.

Read. Discuss.

UPDATE: And to prove that he's:

a: Doing just fine.

b: Quite possibly the gayest PR contestant ever (and honeys, is that EVER saying something), and

c: A bitch and proud of it, we offer the following, sent to us by Jack himself:

Oh, and the proud bitch part? We quote:

"And tell your readers I have never had a nosejob. Its getting old. I have baby pictures on myspace with the same nose."

God, we love that tatoo'd Muscle Mary.

I'm sorry for Jack's situation, but I don't understand why he's sour about Chris coming back. I feel like the gracious thing to do would be to say "I was glad that my problem that caused me to leave the show gave a friend another chance to shine and follow his dreams, so at least some good came out of it"

Anonymous said...

I hope he auditions again next year.

Well, I wandered in here just 'cause I was hoping someone was talking about this. I think my biggest disappointment with tonight's episode (which was otherwise excellent and the most engaging so far), was that there was no epilogue about Jack. That would have been the most responsible thing to do. As for Jack's feelings that something wasn't right re: Chris returning in his place, I don't quite get it. But I'm sure Jack could earn a return trip for PR5 if he wanted to.

About to be really inappropriate.

Am I the only one who thought Jack with the super swelled upper lip bore a bit of a resemblance to Jen, the Gelfling from the Dark Crystal?

I’m going to go burn in hell now.

I love you, Jack!

I am really sad that Jack had to leave. This ep was really emotional for me. I really hope that he is ok and got the treatment he needed.

I am happy that Chris is back. But a part of me felt that it was unfair for Jack also. Not in the sense that the show's decision was unfair but the circumstances were unfair. Jack worked so hard and had to leave. It broke my heart to see him so sad. I understand why he feels it's unfair.

However, I felt that Chris was judged harshly when he got eliminated last week and that Ricky should have gone home last episode. So I am super psyched that Chris got a second chance!! But but but.....Jack....!!!
*sigh *

I. Am. So. Torn.

So let's change the subject. Ricky. Cries. Again. And Twice. Oh for the love of man.....

I have lots more comments about this week's ep but I will defer to the PRBoys cuz this is their blog after all =) heheheheh

well Kat, can I go to hell with you if i thought he looked like the Whos from the live action Grinch movie?

Am I the only one who thought this episode was predictable? Not that I wasn't emotionally affected, but based on last week's previews, you could tell that Jack was going to leave, and then once that was confirmed in the episode and there was that blurb about Tim's surprise, it was obvious that Chris was coming back, especially based on the designers' expressions. The end result was predictable as well.

to caveat my going-to-hell-ness, I'd be a lot less snarky if we didn't all know Jack is ok. and dating adorable Dale. I feel bad for him not making it all the way through, but he's alive and next to a reality show I think that's probably better.

Didn't you all LOVE when Tim asked Princess "How fierce is it?". I believe those were his words. Tim teasing a designer--too fun.

Hated Alisa's outfit. It was just awful. No shape for that poor woman. And Jillian didn't seem to suffer for not using the correct fabric--what's that all about? Remember when last season, the dog didn't have an outfit and the designer was crucified? Seems to be somewhat of a double standard.

Hutchlover said...

Eeeek! Just when I was about to give up on this season, my big loveable guy comes back!

But baby, that red bow just SCREAMED costume.

Not fair is allowing Jillian in the top 3, Jack. Worrying about who replaced you has nothing to do with you or fairness.

BTW, Ricky's outfit did kick butt. For once.... Even President Harding had one good day.

Homo Ono said...

I am sorry that Jack had to leave and I completely agree with him that it was unfair for Chris to return. Not unfair to Jack. Unfair to all the other contestants who had been auf'ed on earlier shows. The "last out/ first back" does not fly with me. In effect what the producers did was give ONE contestant TWO chances. If this is really a serious competition that can be treated as such and have any level of prestige, the rules need to be applied to all equally. I believe that the decision was made simply to keep the proper number of episodes intact and the spirit of a fair competition was not truly a guiding consideration for the producers.

Anonymous said...

love jack but i hate bad nose jobs. And, I totally agree that Jillian should have gotten some heat for not really using the shirt fabric. Wasn't that the whole point of the challenge? Anyone of those designers could have whipped up a new dress for those ladies but that wasn't the point.

I agree with whomever said that an epilogue about Jack would have been nice. It was definitely looking serious when he left.

It's terribly unfortunatel for Jack, and I'm glad to know he's doing fine now (and if I were a gay man, I'd be jealous as hell about the Dale thing.)

Last year when Keith got kicked off, I was hoping they'd bring back Malan to even out the number of episodes, but no luck. I'd lay money on the the producers having everything to do with it. Entertainment weekly had Chris (not PR, mind you, but Chris) on their top 10 things to watch a few weeks ago.

I don't think it's fair that he's back - And I don't care. I just adore him, and I'm glad he'll be around a little longer.

ANYONE can get a disfiguring cutaneous staph infection FOR THE THIRD TIME? is that right, jack? it had NOTHING to do with being HIV+, and you aren't the least bit immunocompromised? yeah, right! i wish the guy nothing but the best health, but that attempt to downplay the obvious implication of what was happening to him wasn't very credible at all. he didn't have to reveal his HIV status, but once he did, it seemed very silly to act is if it had nothing at all to do with what was going on. sorry, not buying it!

This is not the first time this has happened, so let's not act all shocked about it. Chris was a fan fave. No, it's not fair that Jack got MRSA, but this is reality TV, not reality. Let's just enjoy Chris' return while it lasts...

I really hope that Jack auditions for PR5 (see, I'm assuming there will be a PR5!). He was a strong contender, even if I did disagree with his win in the menswear competition, and it's a shame that medical considerations dictated his departure.

I'm glad that having decided to bring someone back, it was Chris. It does make sense to have it be the last person auf'd. I admit that I thought they wouldn't bring someone back, but thinking about it, I can see why. Unlike the Keith situation, which was a group challenge, they'd have had to eliminate one of their "everyday" models if they didn't fill Jack's slot. Hence, someone returns and to bring back the designer who lasted longest is reasonable.

I was pretty surprised that the judges didn't come down hard on Jillian for not using her model's garment. It was barely mentioned. In my view, she cheated, pure and simple. I'm sure some of the other designers would have been happy to toss their models' garments in the trash can and buy all new material But they followed the rules. She should have been called on that one.

Well, this was all shot well before it aired, so the producers had no idea he was a fan fave, or an EW top ten, or anything.

I hope Jack auditions again too. And I agree about the epilogue.

OMG so sad. I was really rooting for Jack. He seemed so genuine and sweet. I thought he was talented too. I hope he returns next season.

I would agree with you if the decisions made each week were cummulative. Tim and the judges have said they are not. (With the exception being a problem/mistake that is repeated from week to week.)

The byline is:

"One day you're in and the next day you're out"

NOT

"One day you're out, the next day you're in because you were in two weeks ago."

I think it's more fair than what happened on PR Canada. They brought MG back for no reason other than the fact that it was partner challenge and there was an odd number of designers left. (I was, of course, happy that MG came back, but it was still incredibly unfair, in my view.) So this seems more fair than that.

I just miss Jack. I thought it was so adorably sad when Team Star was hugging.

Unknown said...

I think I would have felt better about Chris coming back if they'd come up with a halfway plausible explanation. I just don't understand how bringing back someone you've eliminated (and fairly early on, at that) is "adding to" or even maintaining the level of the competition. I mean, he's already been eliminated from competition on his own merits (or perceived lack thereof).

You want to raise and/or maintain the level of competition, keep the right number of episodes, and bring someone back who's been eliminated? Have Kara Janx, Laura, Nick V., Daniel V., or any of those deserving people who have proven they can bring it in the sewing room come in and let them stir the pot?

I think Chris is a fun character and he can sew well enough, but for sheer entertainment? You've got to do better than this, Bravo!

But in that case, they brought ALL the designers back and let the odd person out pick who they wanted to work with. All the contestants were treated equally by the producers.

maybe they brought Chris back instead of the other designers because they were on short notice, and Chris was the only one still around? That's what I was assuming.

In most athletic competitions, say on the international level that draw competitors from various countries, a nation's delegation can only send so many athletes. Say 1, 2 & 3 that finish from that country's national championships to the international event.

The person that places 4th, 5th are the 1st and 2nd alternate, respectively, if something were to happen to the first 3 representatives because of say an injury, sickness, etc. to that competition.

This is no different that something like that

Kristina said...

In addition to giving people second chances by letting them audition again and come back in different seasons (Daniel Franco), they did give second chances to Angela and Vincent last season.

In Top Chef, they also brought back a chef after someone had to leave for a family emergency.

I don't know if it's the best policy, but it certainly isn't unprecedented. And this one I don't mind so much because I liked Chris and was really sad when he got kicked off last week.

Homo Ono said...

APHD said..."In most athletic competitions...if something were to happen to the first 3 representatives because of say an injury, sickness, etc. to that competition.

The difference is that this is not a cumulative contest. We have been told by Tim and the judges that scores do not carry over from week to week. By their own admission, the judging is supposed to an elimination singularly based on performance for each challenge. Therefore, the person who left the first week is not in 15th place and the succession pattern that you are describing isn't possible.

Anonymous said...

Bringing back the most recently aufed designer has precedent in the Bravo/Magical Elves universe. In the first season of Top Chef, a cheftestant had to withdraw due to her father's illness. They were in the midst of a team challenge and the producers brought back the cheftestant who had been knifed in the previous episode.

This is similar to that. While not a team challenge, it was a special episode with these non-model models. They had to bring back someone to work with Jack's model. Thus, the most recently aufed gets to come back.

Homo Ono said...

Frankly, if I was Jack's "non-model model", I would have rather gone home empty handed than have to stand on the runway and be told by Michael Kors that I looked like a French hooker from the 1950's.

Homo Ono, I don't agree - by your way of thinking, if the first off isn't 15th, then how can the final 3 be considered "Top Three"? How can the winner be the winner? The order they were sent home is their ranking, by default. Of course we all know better designers have gone home before lousy ones. But, that's the nature of these types of competitions.

So, it's not "unfair" that Chris was brought back. Certainly not unfair to Jack and I can't imagine why he thought so. But, also not unfair to the others either. He lasted longer than the other auf'd contestants, so first back in. As for why they brought someone back, they were left one designer short, which meant that they would have one too many challenges on their hands. Much easier to being back the last one auf'd than re-write the entire rest of the season in such a short production schedule. That messiness would certainly have been more unfair to the other contestants, in the long run.

Mike B. said...

I don't blame Jack for thinking it's a little unfair--the rest of the designers, including him, got through four challenges and Chris only got through three.

Still, what were the producers going to do on such short notice? They might have decided just to press on, then not eliminate anyone in the challenge, but then Jack's model would have been out of luck. It was probably too late to bring back Carmen or...god, I can't even remember the first two, which speaks volumes about how I feel about this season. They had to make a snap decision under difficult circumstances and I don't think they could really have done it better.

That's absolutely not the impression I've gotten. It looks like the high/low judging is entirely based on the work that's just gone down the runway, but the final decisions take past performance into account.

Designers who've done impressive work--or Vincent--are usually not sent home if they land in the bottom two through some weird lapse of sense or taste. Think of all the times Santino was in the bottom two (and arguably for doing the worst looks of all), saved by his generally strong history.

It's a sensible rule. While it would be unacceptable to ignore the dresses they've been making for the whole episode, it would also be unacceptable for someone who's a major contender for Fashion Week to be aufed in midseason because Michael Kors decided that her last dress was too MOB. (Especially considering that lately the brief may well be to design a dress for an MOB.)

Hi! What I mean to say is that it can not possibly be a true ranking. The only way for it to be a true ranking would be for all 15 designers to compete in 12 challenges and to accumulate scores for each. Their total scores would then represent a true ranking. Each individual challenge is a true ranking competition with the top three and bottom three based on tabulated scores. But then the slate is wiped.

With each round your statistical chances of continuing decrease so making it to the last three is beating the odds (or winning.) Then the winner of the title is chosen in a true ranking manner based on the final runway show.

Of course we all know better designers have gone home before lousy ones. But, that's the nature of these types of competitions.

That's actually my point. One really bad dress can send someone home much faster than sending out consistently below average ones.

So, it's not "unfair" that Chris was brought back. Certainly not unfair to Jack and I can't imagine why he thought so.

I'm not sure that Jack meant that he thought it was unfair to him personally.

I completely see your point about Chris having made it one episode further than the other contestants though. I just don't think anyone should have come back. I can't see why that would have required the entire season to be rewritten. I don't know for sure (maybe you or someone here will) but did they have to rewrite anything last season after Keith was booted?

It made the most sense. Besides, had there been two designers out this week, that means one less show for the season (depending on where this season goes, it remains to be seen if that would be a good thing or a bad thing).

the episode was just so fun and vibrant. Kit and Christian saying "Mmm-hmm" to each other? and the moving panel montage of the work? The editor of this episode is the real hero here.

Also - no matter if it's fair or not - there are a certain number of episodes - they had to bring someone back to keep from falling short. Why not last one off? makes sense.

(btw - it was season 3 [not 2] when they brought back Angela and Vincent as past challenge winners)

the real question here is: how did they dump keith in season 2 without bringing someone in to replace him? How did they keep from falling short? Why no replacement then?

And also TLO - can we get a little more info from Jack or perhaps a medical type personage on whether or not repeated staph infections are related to being HIV+

Of course they had to bring someone back after Jack left! It (a) makes a good story even better and (b) is fair to the client.

(a) It was uplifting after Jack's unexpected and sad leaving to have someone come back. Chris was the most recent auf and easy to bring back. Luckily, he's fun! Unluckily he made a crap outfit so he'll probably be aufed again soon.

(b) The everyday woman client invested herself in the show and deserved the whole experience.

Who knows. Maybe it wouldn't have been done if they were using regular models. Or maybe the next challenge requires ten contestants.

It was a split-second decision I'm glad they made.

I was on the verge of tears when Jack left, but it didnt linger long enough to quite get there. I felt really bad for him. I guess since I knew he was ok, but wish he didn't have to leave the show.

I think its hilarious that some of you are buying that there are actual rules and they are followed.

PULEEEZE
The producers do whatever they want to do. Did you know for example that on shows like American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance the only person that sees the phone results is Nigel Lythgoe, the producer?

Its ALL bullshit. SO look at it for the entertainment value and don't waste your breath trying to decipher whats "fair".

BTW- I would love to know what Jack thinks WOULD have been fair. I mean they have to do X amount of episodes and need X amount of designers to do so....and I would imagine by the time Jack was eliminated the other auf'd designers were otherwise engaged.

Well good for Jack that 1 - he left with everyone loving him and wanting more, and 2 - that he's better (that's the most important thing).

I felt so bad for Jack, He really was talented. I think that the producers did a very good job with this episode, not going over board with the drama, but keeping it appropriate to what happened with Jack. I thought Bringing Christ back was nice, but I can see how it wouldn't be fair to the other contestants.

My favorite thing about the episode TIM!!!!! Where was he!!!! It was so great to have him back!!!

"Am I the only one who thought Jack with the super swelled upper lip bore a bit of a resemblance to Jen, the Gelfling from the Dark Crystal?"

Hah, kat! I only laugh because this year, I had EXACTLY the same infection (pimple in the nose, swelled upper lip), and both my brothers, upon seeing me (I looked just like Jack did) said, "So, are you doing a new 'Planet of the Apes' movie?"

Unknown said...

I have mixed feelings about bringing Chris back. They probably would be less mixed if he had made a decent looking garment -- besides being being costumey, the top seemed really ill-fitted.

But, I like him, and this is just TV. Reality TV, which is a major oxymoron to begin with. It's never going to be fair -- it's always going to be what they perceive will grab the highest number of viewers and keep them.

As far as the video == OMG!!!! What a queen!!! I love it -- I had some reservations about Jack, but nobody who made that video could be too full of himself.

"ANYONE can get a disfiguring cutaneous staph infection FOR THE THIRD TIME? is that right, jack? it had NOTHING to do with being HIV+, and you aren't the least bit immunocompromised? yeah, right!"

Gemma, you're misinformed. Anyone working in a hospital, playing for a sports team, or working out at a crowded gym can get a MRSA very easily, especially one that starts in the nose. It's an infection that can live on surfaces and can be picked up any number of places.

I've had it twice in less than two years, and it has nothing to do with a compromised immune system (I'm HIV- and in perfect health). That's the insidious thing about these new strains of infection; they come back like the plague.

Actually, a number of years ago, there was a top figure skater, Jill Trenary, who got 2 unrelated stapf infections, several years apart, and she's not HIV+.

First, she got one in her ankle. Then several years later, she got one somewhere else (I don't remember where exactly), but it got so bad she had to get 2 ribs removed, and that put an end to her skating.

It must just be that some people are more prone to staph infections.

I actually screamed YAY when Chris came back. But then, the outfit...I adore Chris. I want him to move to Maryland and be my Big Gay Al, but, well, I'm not going to but the bank on his winning.

Stephen. Oh,my. I'm sad to lose him. Especially over something as fundamental to human nature as loathing a nasty David's Bridal gown. But that dress was a bit of a mess.

that said, this episode was a clever challenge, fairly well judged (with the exception of the judges deciding for Elisa's client that it did not suit her personality. SHE said it did, but what does she know?), and enjoyable. And, best of all, more Tim!!

Even though this episode was pretty predictable, it did have some great moments! From Tim's 3 am conversation to Ricky in the heels and capris to the overall drama of Jack leaving to the Duchess comparing Chris's outfit to a 1950s hooker!

As someone who's lost almost 100 pounds in 4.5 months, I can really appreciate the struggles these women have gone through and appreciate what a great job most of the designers did.

As for bringing Chris back, part of me also wonders if they brought someone back because of the special model situation for this challenge.

PLUS, no matter how much I love Steve, he was practically begging to be auf'd with the nun outfit.

It's a sad situation with Jack, but that's life. Sorry to see him go, but glad to have Chris back. I laughed my ass off when Chris had just woken up and said, "did I make anything."

I think Christian totally deserved to win and the bottom 3 were almost right. I agreed with Steven's aufing and I thought Elisa's dress was a hot bloody mess, but I don't think Chris shoud have been there. It should have been VictorYA instead. She did nothing but fitted that dress to the lady. It was horrible and showed no imagination. Plus she said it was a cocktail dress, is that everyday wear? I hate VictorYA.

BRAVOOOO!!!!!! That is the funniest thing EVER! Three cheers to Jack for clowning around. EXCELLENT CLIP!!

Is he MAD at Chris for taking his slot, or mad at his MRSA that made him lose his slot? Chris was just the handiest/most recently auf'd who lives in New York and doesn't need an additional plane ticket. So it made perfect sense to me.

Anonymous said...

OKay, THAT is hilarious.

Anonymous said...

While it is possible to be infected by MRSA multiple time, people with immune deficiencies (e.g. Jack) are more likely to be infected by MRSA more than once. It is unfortunate that Jack had to go since he was one of the better designers, but his tirade about Chris was a bitch-ass move.

Regarding Chris coming back- what's Jack's problem with it? Did he have a better solution for the problem which would have been fair in his eyes? What's with the bitchiness? Jack's a doll but don't get why he'd be pissy about the return of Chris!

Am sure PR had something in place in the case that a contestant had to bow out because of uncontrollable emergency (as opposed to booting because of rule breaking a la Kevin Michaels) and having last contestant auf'd is a decent fall-back IMO.

Am actually surprised that it's taken 4 seasons for someone to have to leave because of emergency.

Love, love, love the video! I think I will put it in my favorites and watch it every morning just to start my day off right! And I'm so glad he caught the bystander's expression, because I was wondering what they were thinking!

The judges are on crack again - the duchess (who is turning more and more orange as we watch) thought Jillian's dress was wonderful??? It was ugly and ill-fitting, didn't flatter the model, and didn't follow the rules! I thought Kevin was robbed, because I really liked his revision, and Ricky's look was very flattering as well. And poor Stephen - bad luck on the draw and poor judgment on the black. But for the duchess to say he had so MUCH good stuff to work with? That was just stupid!

Anonymous said...

Oh, I wish I could see the video. I am at work and the spot where the video is supposed to be is just blank. I suppose they have it blocked or something.

Ehhh, for dissing Chris, he gets no love from me. Jack is way too much in love with his own physical perfection. Thanks, no, I'll take a real man.

I don't think Kevin deserved a top 3 spot. His outfit looked like something a Brooklyn hooker would wear. Tacky. Leggings. Tacky. No one wants to see your camel toe and every nook and cranny of your cellulite.

Wow, what a rollercoaster of emotion that episode was. I'm sitting there in shock that Jack had to leave, a bit upset because I did like him. I cried.

And then I'm not really paying attention and my fiance says "WHAT THE HELL!?" and I look up and CHRIS is back and I cried again because I was so happy. I'm just happy that Chris is getting another chance and that they didn't just go ahead with the show without him.

As for it not being fair.. I can see how it's not fair. But I didn't think that what Chris made LAST week was the worst thing on the runway so I don't think he should have been kicked off, so.. Yeah.

Anonymous said...

Oh my word. Screw PR. Give that man his own show to host, please! Maybe he and Dale could do "life makeovers" for people who need to make fresh starts. Lord knows they both have experience with that.

Can someone point me to the "tirade" against Chris or at least to where he was "dissed"? I can't find it.

Also, when a designer is auf'ed they don't go home do they? Don't they just move them to a different hotel or something? Otherwise how could they keep the outcome of the season under wraps? It would be pretty clear to my friends and family that I didn't make it into the final rounds if I showed back up two days after I left. When Keith walked off set last season it was while they were filming promos. All the designers were there, even the ones who had been auf'ed in previous weeks.

The video ALMOST made up for Jack's bitchy remarks about Chris coming back. I think the judges cut him a little slack due to the time constraints he had to deal with ... Steve helped him out by making a truly hideous garment, using 1/10 of a yard of a 20-yard dress.

I hope Jack is asked back for PR5. As long as they stay below the shark -- they're jumping next to it this season, but not over it yet (in my ever-so-humble opinion) I think there will be a PR5.

As for the logistics of bringing Chris back, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the auf'd contestants on most of these reality shows are sequestered in the same location/hotel/island/whatever until that particular phase of competition was over. So it was probably just a matter of taking the elevator up to another floor of their home building and yanking Chris out of the shower. Jack obviously was sent home and that, I'm sure, is how the word got leaked about his early departure.

Sorry to see that Sister Christian is going to have to walk now, though.

I don't like that Chris came back. He seems like a great guy but doesn't seem at all that he has a chance to win so why bother? If only Steven didn't screw up so royally, Chris should have been kicked right back off for getting a second chance and making such an ugly outfit.

That video is so. hilarious! Jack is a funny guy.

Me and my "runway viewing party" peeps were all heartbroken for Jack when he had to leave. We were also completely thrilled to see Chris return! I'm a little bummed to see that Jack thinks that decision is unfair (why even consider badmouthing Chris? It wasn't his idea). I understand it in a way. When Keith left the show, nobody replaced him. I think the difference here is that they were in the middle of a challenge with people that weren't models. This woman's clothes are chopped up and she's there waiting for the runway, and it wouldn't have been fair to her to leave her hanging. So I think that it was fair in this case to bring back Chris, all personal feelings aside.

Anonymous said...

Here is an image to perk up everyone's day after the loss of Jack. Think of Tim Gunn doing the rounds and asking Christian if his garment is "fierce". He totally made my day. Which was then followed by the prospect of what mistakes he's made at 3 in the morning. I said it before, but I will say it again, Tim is back! and it makes me so happy (though I am still sad that Jack is gone.

"the real question here is: how did they dump keith in season 2 without bringing someone in to replace him? How did they keep from falling short? Why no replacement then?"

I don't have time to read all the responses, but

a) Keith was kicked off the show, his own fault, but more importantly

b) It was a GROUP challenge, so scheduling could be maintained.

FWIW, w/r/t to Chris or whoever returning, I believe they sequested all the auffed contestants so hotel staff, guests, et al., can't inadvertently, or purposely for that matter, spoil results of a show taped 6 months ago.

Ha! That's good. I didn't know that (but I'll use it now!)

Homo Ono is a fictitious character I created when the band I'm in wanted to start a rumor that we were breaking up several years ago. The "band" is really more like a performance art group so we do a lot of kooky stuff.

Anyway, the rumor was that I wanted to do solo stuff and that my boyfriend was encouraging me to leave the band. So Homo Ono was the gay equivalent of Yoko Ono.

(That's probably more info that you wanted! Ha!)

Okay, I just got a chance to watch that video (last time I checked in it was too late for sound and I couldn't find my headphones) and that was hilarious. It's good to see that despite the aggravation and frustration of having to leave for a medical issue (though I guess he's had some time to get past it), he's got the spirit and joie de vivre to do something like that.

As to speculation on whether or not he can or should come back for PR5 (if there is one, of course)... I wonder if it'd really be worth it. I mean, he got exposure, he got on the Today show briefly though it was, and maybe that'll be enough to get him a good backer. If not, well, sure, why not? I bet they'd take him for next season in an instant.

Though it'd seriously be horrible to go back and have another medical issue, which despite his overall good health has always got to be a bigger concern for someone who is HIV+ or has some other long-term medical issue. (Something I not only sympathize with but empathize with... I'm not HIV+, no, but I have some other medical issues, and they definitely contributed to why I left my last job.) I can't imagine he hasn't considered that under the circumstances.

Still, whatever his future plans are, I really think at some point we'll see more of him.

I took me over 1.5 years, two ER visits for IV antibiotics, an anaphalaxis, and over a dozen different antibiotics to get the MRSA in my sinuses diagnosed. Brutal. AND, I'm a doctor!

Jack gets MAJOR kudos from me--the ones I have had that were in the same place as his (upper lip, nasolabial folds) are extremely painful because it hits the nerves of your teeth.

MRSAs on the face are the most dangerous outside systemic because they have a nasty habit of hitching a ride on one of the nerves of the face (nasolabial, optic) and running right into the brain. Jack was smart in his choice and I weeped as I watched him.

And BTW, because staph is naturally present on your skin, once you are colonized with MRSA, they consider you to have it chronically. You treat the infections with more rigorous antibiotics, but you cannot totally get rid of it off of your skin, particularly somewhere like your sinuses which cannot be fully sterilized. [nuclear zits like you've never seen!] I've had at least 3 recurrances (nothing nearly as bad as it had been before diagnosed because I try to nip it in the bud) and have a lovely scar on the side of my nose that looks like a piercing gone bad due to gangrene and some loss of tissue in the bridge that is in dire need of some restalyne one of these years.

In other words, Jack treated his infection just like anyone else who know they have MRSA should.

Bonus info: it's not that contagious, except for someone immunocompromised (like chemotherapy immunocompromisd)unless more things were going on in the boys apartment than we have been lead to believe. ;) Washing your hands, washcloths, etc is all that is needed. I'm able to work with the immunocompromised if I wear a mask.

Enormous post, but I needed to do my PSA.

After reading a few of the other posters' comments, I feel the need to add my two cents regarding whether or not Jack should come back to Season 5.

Yes, absolutely. He proved his work was of the quality to participate in Season 4, and sadly, his participation was cut short owing to an infection. It is only fair that he be allowed a second chance.

He was untimely robbed of his opportunity to win or lose this season. He should be allowed a second chance.

I hope they bring him back next year. If nothing else, I'll be he could snag himself some cameos on the late night talk shows and/or SNL with that video!

It bothers me that Jack keeps saying this has nothing to do with his HIV. The staph is everywhere. The other comment was from a doctor who had it, health care workers are at risk for it. People with weakened immune systems, including those living with HIV/AIDS, are more likely to have severe CA-MRSA infections.
People who are in close contact with health care workers are at increased risk of serious MRSA infections.
Healthy people do not contract this unless they have a cut or another risk factor such as diabetes. Staph is everywhere but we do not acquire it.

I'll never let go.

I think that is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen. The water is my favorite part.

Good luck to him and his muscles.

I am so sick of people seeing only one side of Jack. in the gay community he is considered a Chelsea queen. These are superficial men that only think skin deep. They don't associate with people unless they are a status builders. You can also forget about knowing him if your body is less than perfect. He is the gay version of the high school cheerleader, pretty and popular, but has no time for anyone that does not fit. No wonder he made that off handed comment about Chris.
Bravo didn't let you see this side of him and used his illness to manipulate the feelings of the public. I am sorry he got sick but I have no time for self serving gay men.

He seemed nice to me, when I met him - And I'm not a status builder, (although I do have a perfect body, if you squint really hard).

yes, but would he have talked to you a year ago when he was not in the spotlight. My observations are from that standpoint and and from personal information from people living in NYC.
