Oh god, if we had any doubt before, now it's confirmed that Bravo is doing their best to kill the Project Runway brand before it moves on to less gay pastures. Clickie to find out who they're talking to.

oh dear. could the downslide happen any faster?
You gotta be fucking kidding me. What a waste of a season. Kill me now. Tim must be beside himself. Couldn't they find anyone with AN OUNCE of class?
Nooooo! Say it isn't so!
So whoever puts the least amount of clothing on their models would be a lock to win, if Mariah is judging. UGH.
No.

OMG WTF? This is BAD. Instead of ending with a high note that would make Lifetime look like amatures, they go and do THIS?
PS - But, seriously -- it's gotta be a joke. A set up to a really truly fabulous judge?
-- d'wind
Erk..
I refuse to believe it until I see it. Of course I said that about the whole Lifetime fiasco too. I attempted to watch "What Lies Beneath" on Lifetime the other day when I was home sick from work. The commercials for their other programming were so annoying I put in a DVD instead. Maybe if they let Mariah judge they will at least make her bring her husband (shirtless of course) and we can console ourselves looking at him.
OK, that would just be tragic. Please, pleaaaaase, say it isn't so.
One can imagine the Bravo execs rubbing their claws together with glee and cackling. "Who can we get? Britney Spears? NO! I have it! Mariah Carey!" I think maybe they should just go all the way and get Paula Abdul.
At least it isn't Britney or Paris.
sweet merciful crap.
But I would love to read your take on her outfits. And could you review Glitter? Maybe for musical mondays??
my jaw literally dropped open. Somebody at Bravo is really bitter
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
I love them!!!
Truly a fashion icon!
OH. MY. GOD.
I don't not what to say. Really.
Aren't the gays supposed to love her?
...................................................................... just kidding. :)
Oh, I'm so past it by now. I just laugh.
Though I think Posh is hilarious, I also agreed with many people that she was questionable to be a fashion judge at the finale. But now.... Posh has a PhD in fashion critiquing compared to this tart.
Eww. What on earth could she possibly judge? She's not even relevant anymore! Is the assignment Circa 1995 Designs? Please.
No!!!
If there was such a thing as a fashion anti-christ, she'd be it.
wow that just made snort really loudly, seriously mariah?
I was fine with Posh, at least she knows how to dress, but this one?
About the only thing worse than Mariah would be the tasteless Rachael Ray, who makes classic designs by DVF and others look like trash.
Let's not forget that Donna Karan necklace/sheath gown nightmare at the Daytime Emmys.
Oh wait, there's always Britney.
Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn help us all...
I just coughed up a hairball.
That tacky bitch? Ugh... just terrible. She will probably ruin the finale for me.
Christos
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!....and I'm gay, Siren!
"Oh, my god, is that my stomach or is that my heart?"
I hate her! Oh, that's simply awful!!!
I sincerely hope she says 'no'. I will be very annoyed if she's the final judge.
She is on the cover of Elle this month too....
I guess we will have a finale full of pink skanktastic dresses, butterflies and glitter.
I think I just shrieked in a higher octave than Mariah ever even attempted. This show is a goner.
No, no, no. I think you've got it wrong:
Mariah Carey is actually supposed to be one of the models in the Drag Queen Challenge.
--GothamTomato
Well, let's pray it's just a rumor.
Mariah Carey really is the epitome of tacky.
oh holy cr*p. Nails into coffin, kittens.
Nothing but makeovers and clothes for Hollywood hos, from here on out.
"On the other hand, it would give us free reign to make fun of her outfits from now until the end of time, so it's kind of a wash."
Well, in that case, let me go ahead and cast my votes.
SHE's...
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT
Bitches please. We already have free reign to rip on her outfits from here until the end of time. Keep that psycho hoochie away from PR!
It's all looking HOME SEWN - No?
DebraKay
I'm not Jewish, but Oy vey ist mir! about sums it up.
Bravo's closing the coffin with an industrial strength nail gun if Mariah Carey is the finale judge. Can you IMAGINE the expressions that Saint Tim, NinaGarciaNotFashionDirectorofElleMagazine, The Duchess and Frau Seal will be sporting...??!!
All the best,
NDC
I see tootie - lots of it.
Yeesh!
You guys are joking, right?
i really hope that this is a just a rumor. to have mariah carey as a guest judge on the FINALE is a insult, not an honor.
Mimi?!!
Holy Sh*t, Batman!
From Fern Mallis to Mariah in 2 seasons?
Yikes.
Ew.
To paraphrase Will Truman--
"Time to start working on lunch,
'cause here comes breakfast..."
PR is fast becoming "Facts of Life"!
Waaaay too much Tootie!
Ack ack ack
(Actually, I had something really mean typed in, but being that it's the season premier night didn't want to ruin my zen mood)
I hate to mean to him because I LOVE HIM... but Mychael Knight must be pissed he isn't doing his runway show this season...
are you fucking serious?? mariah fucking carey?? WHAT???!!!
There are NO WORDS. My head hurts.
(We already make fun of Mariah!! It's unavoidable!! The woman dresses like a 12 year old on Skank-roids!!)
SWEET WOUNDED JESUS!!
no. can. not. process. icky. bad.
Do we really need a reason or excuse to make fun of Mrs. Cannon's outfits?
Because I guess I am in the hole than.
I really type this is a false rumor put out by PR so we don't know who the final guest judge is.
Brooklyn Bomber said...
No!!!
If there was such a thing as a fashion anti-christ, she'd be it.
1:07 PM
If this is true, it can only be a sign of the fashion endtimes....
Oh come on folks...don't you want to see Tim and Nina giving credence to Mariah's comments during the final judging?. While Heide dons another bad waitress uniform (a la lime green and hot pink creations displayed in the Bravo promo ads!)
Behind the scenes Tim and Nina will be hitting the pipe!
Wow, talk about going down market. Was it Nina who said "The taste level just isn't there"
What. The. Fuck.
Gack. I hope this is a joke, or that she responds, "Clothes? I can't judge clothes, silly! I don't wear them!" And then they can replace her with someone truly fabulous.
Is the challenge going to be to create a line of skankwear for every juncture of a girl's life?
Where to begin...
Does this mean that Mariah gets a vote, and then Mimi gets a vote as well? Will she have 2 sets of cards on her lap?
I guess Bravo really wanted to go out with a gay gang bang. Although, I thought we gays didn't really run with Mimi so much anymore. Who's trying to win who over here?
The only way this could be worse is if they used Mariah songs as tracks for the final collections. Because Posh's orange dress and Parker Posey's hat didn't pull enough focus away from the task at hand...
That's enough for now. I want to stay happy since it's premiere night!
This can't be true. C'mon..this woman is a joke.
And we thought they couldn't go any lower than they did with Victoria Beckham! Will wonders never cease? Poor Tim. The epitome of class and the epitome of classlessness.
She has absolutely no sense of fashion or style. This is very bad. I hope Bravo reconsider this after reading all the backlash against this stupid idea.
I thought Victoria was a great judge. I don't understand why people hate her so much. Mariah is just a mess.
Good lord.
it could have been worse. Think Beyonce or even Beyonce's mom. OK, I take it back, this sucks.
Why didn't they as TLo?
What, they couldn't get SJP for the finale instead of for an early epi shilling her own stuff?
Oooh- there is someone better that they need to get, but I can't remember her name-Bill can you help?
She's a faded star who always worer craaaazy outfits- not Sally Kellerman but her name is like that - it is just killing me to remember this lady...
it could have been worse. Think Beyonce or even Beyonce's mom. OK, I take it back, this sucks.
Why didn't they ask TLo?
I was so hoping it would be Cher.
Anon 2:56 said, "Mychael Knight must be pissed he isn't doing his runway show this season...'"
I hate to say it 'cuz I really liked him, too, but I had a similar thought -- that she would have been the guest judge for the final collection he showed.
Oh, well. One good thing about this: lotsa funny comments today.
Anybody else but her.
I'm pretty sure this is just so that when Bea Arthur is the guest judge for the Season 6 Finale, we'll find ourselves saying, "at least it's not Mariah Lisa Frank Carey...Bea is one bitch who doesn't need glitter...just lots of layers of cotton knits...you know, like those kids over at American Apparel...gosh, I guess moving to Lifetime was a good idea..."
I admit it. I want to watch Nina try and look like she gives a shit about what Mariah Carey has to say.
And then I want to watch Bea Arthur make the Duchess uncomfortable.
This doesn't have to take place on PR, though.
I thought the same thing! Mychael would have won had she been the judge during his final show. I could just see that orange "too long top" on her!
And I thought Parker Posey was a weird choice.
SisterZip
Well, they could ask Paula Abdul....if anyone could understand what she said.
To use my own id: SAY WHAT????
Take any 6 of her outfits and you wouldn't have enough fabric to make one outfit for "Ninagarciafashioneditorof What magazine is she doing now?"
Please dear God, don't let her sing!
What will the challenge be "Create 12 looks for Glitter II?"
Well, if it isn't true it could make whoever ends up doing the judging look good by comparison.
How is she going to see the make of the clothes with her sunglasses on?
What fresh hell is this?
What, was Heidi Montag not available?
"kana said...
What, was Heidi Montag not available?"
LOL. Why not Lauren Conrad?
Worst choice ever.
I hear they asked Brittney to be the guest judge for the underwear challenge.
Bjork for Red Carpet fashions
Elizabeth Taylor for Wedding gowns
Kate Moss for the 'plus-size woman' challenge
We will have wso much fun ripping all judges a new one this season
Oh god no.
Yhis is such insanity I don't even know what to say. The funny thing is I think they would do this even if PR wasn't leaving them for USA next season. After all look who they got last season. Posh Spice? Really? So you think they really have good taste? That should have told you right there that they had lost their minds.
this is bullshit right?
Just shoot me. Now.
UGH. Maybe they really meant....
Drew Carey?
Harry Carey?
Damn. PR has joined the ranks of the non-reality reality shows.
Speaking of changes, here's how some of the designers feel about all these changes:
Malan Breton:
The guest judges and challenges have been announced. What's your take?
I think the guest judges are all very New York. Sadly, I think it's Project Runway's way of saying goodbye to the international city of fashion before it moves to Los Angeles. This is unfortunate--the element of surprise is lost.
Victorya Hong:
The guest judges and challenges have been announced. What's your take?
I didn't know that, but they've obviously taken a new tactic on the publicity this season. Not knowing what's really going on behind the scenes, I guess when you see something like that, it looks like an attempt to drum up interest while not spending the bucks (as in billboards, commercials and promos). And in terms of the publicity front, I think the designers this season are getting a bum deal, especially since Lifetime is likely to promote the show in a big way with a new season out as soon as this one wraps up.
Alison Kelly:
The guest judges and challenges have been announced. What's your take?
I think today there are so many media leaks and violations of confidentiality agreements that it is almost impossible to film a reality series in New York City without someone finding out the details...or maybe they are trying to prove the show still has integrity since the announcement that the series will appear on Lifetime (yikes) next season.
Chris March:
The guest judges and challenges have been announced. What's your take?
I'm puzzled by this strategy. Over all, the publicity for Season 5 is completely different than ours. I was recognizable on the street more than two months before Season 4 premiered. These designers got no press. We'll see how this works with the show's most important goal--ratings.
Rami Kashou:
The guest judges and challenges have been announced. What's your take?
I don't think they should have done it. A big part of the fun is guessing what kind of train wreck challenge will hit the designers next.

Interesting!
Does anyone else wonder if these efforts to kill the show are going to backfire? I think some fans were initially miffed that PR might move to Lifetime-- by the time we finish the season we might all be saying "Thank God it's not on Bravo anymore!"
-Max
Bravo's definitely torching the village before abandoning it.
I feel sick.
Sooooo, basically the move to Lifetime is now officially a step up? Because I don't think Bravo could sink any lower. I'm just saying....
.....What?! That doesn't even make sense. Hopefully, they are wrong about this one.
i'm speechless....just what we need -- more skank-ho fashion. i'm hoping the same as some of the others -- that this is a rumor planted by bravo to hide the real, fabulous judge. sadly, i doubt it. look at who they got last year -- they obviously put someone widely known for their distinct "fashion" choices over and above someone who actuslly has taste, style and experience in the industry.
i'll raise a glass tonight for the death of a great show....
"Alison said: I think today there are so many media leaks and violations of confidentiality agreements that it is almost impossible to film a reality series in New York City without someone finding out the details..."
That's a ridiculous statement - as IF there aren't any leaks on productions in LA. In LA they will likely have swarms of paparazzi whenever they venture out.
Here in NY, celebs (actual real big ones - not reality TV ones), walk the streets every day in perfect anonymity.
If anyone is leaking, it is the designers themselves, and they'll still be doing that in LA.
--GothamTomato
So, Its PINK PINK PINK and a touch of LAVENDER.
I'm sorry, this is the death knell, this is the kiss of death, this is beyond bad, and everything in this world that is tacky.
I truly don't know what to say, other than, I feel sorry for the designer who is left with this pile of pink shit of a judge, AND then must defend their work! How does one do this?
The PR heavens are spinning out of control, off to a lavendar/pink nebular, that will may never been seen again. (unless thru ultra gay/ultra V/ Ultra tacky) rays....
I just saw the list of judges for the season. Based on that I am not surprised at having her as a finale judge. I will watch this trainwreck of a season but probably no more. I guess that is what they are going for.
Is there a PR drinking game yet? (Besides Jay's "Green Manhattan. DRINK.", I mean)
If Mariah's a judge, I'm going to need some stimulants.
And I just want to say that I never to anonymous posts...thats what happens when one multi tasks. I'm the above...
Horrible news! I'm pissed.
Out with a bang, and not in a positive, exciting way. I was dismayed last season as well, but at least the spice girl goes out in public with clothes on.
Who cares? Mariah Carey, Posh, Parker Posey or Debra Messing? What do these people know about fashion? NOTHING. They should find someone like Fern Mallis, someone who really knows what they're talking about. One of the models told me that the only reason why they had Fern Mallis was because whoever was supposed to be the judge canceled at the last minute.
WTF?! *Headdesk* And I was all ready to follow...now I'm just gonna sit back and watch the trainwreck. Damn, this is happening to the show that got me to watch TV again? I may as well quit now.
Anonymous 4:11 do you mean Sally Kirkland?
love her!
Oh fuck. Even my dear, dead grandmother has more taste than that.
"UGH. Maybe they really meant....
Drew Carey?
Harry Carey?"
Jim Carey?
Cary Elwes?
Carrie Nation?
Sissy Spacek as Carrie?
Any or all would be better.
Actually, I breathed a tiny (albeit temporary) sigh of relief when I clicked through. For a brief, awful moment, I had thought it was Beyonce...
In an effort to preserve the truly final shred of awe and happiness that I once held for this show, I choose to believe that this is but another silly rumor created and circulated by a very bitter, tasteless and unfashionable group gremlins and PR regects.

Mariah Carey is a beautiful woman with no fashion sense whatsoever. If dressing as skankily as she possibly can entitles her to be considered as the guest judge for the finale, then Bravo should also consider Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Cameron Diaz, and Paris Hilton as judges, too. The woman wears "Hello Kitty" clothes and acessories, for the love of God!
Mariah's got a powerful voice, and good for her, but.. I really don't approve of this. I hope they pick someone different!
Oh, hell no.
Oh god. Kill me now.
.....I don't even think MessRIAH has any Gays....she is a total mess !
Love you TLO !
MyBadKitty (ms pj)
Dear god!!
what the hell!!
Lord have mercy!!
Well, she's fierce singer and songwriter, but alas, a cow, a huge, huge heifer. But luckily, slut rarely wears much clothing. So, there may be some redemption in that...
I'm somewhat at peace, having basically already said goodbye to the show and now just watching for the sheer farce. If Bravo is trying to kill the show, I encourage them to do it in the most exuberant, over-the-top, ridiculous manner possible. And Mariah fits in perfectly with that strategy.
Oh.
My.
{must be said in a dying swan voice your great-grandma would use, as opposed to an appalled Higgins-from-Magnum P.I. "oh, my GOD" voice).
Words fail me.
omg I LOVE MARIAH CAREY and PROJECT RUNWAY Mariah is my absolutely favorite singer and she has great style. If I was old enough to have been of that season that would have been a ABSOLUTE DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mariah Carey as a judge, someone over at Bravo or Magical Elves is smoking a special kind of crack.
Personally I would like to see two guest judges.
Judge 1: Someone very edgy and hip. (I have no idea who, but I am sure someone does)
Judge 2: Someone who is more mass market. How about the head buyer for Bluefly or Macy's. Someone who has to choose clothing for stores that the great chubby unwashed (thats me) will buy.
Pardon my techno-ignorance, but what did y'all click to get Mariah? I clicked the picture-- nothing. I clicked the "more" and just get a bit about Heidi wearing Nick, etc.
Where was the secret Mariah answer hidden?
e=mc blech said "Well, she's fierce singer and songwriter, but alas, a cow, a huge, huge heifer. But luckily, slut rarely wears much clothing. So, there may be some redemption in that..."
Really now. No need for that. Shouldn't you be over on the Maxim site instead?
"Ew" was the first word to come out of my mouth, and I think that about sums it up.
imagine what could happen! think TRL breakdown in front of Nina and Heidi! can you imagine?!!
check out my thoughts on the first ep at http://barredowl.wordpress.com/
I've wanted Gwen Stefani for the last 3 seasons. Mariah Carey??? Well, she definitely fits Nina's equation of short, shiny, and tight = cheap!
