Philly Area Ladies, Put on Your Shopping Shoes!

Monday, March 31, 2008 by
Emmett McCarthy will be selling his wares in person at the Shecky's event in Philly, April 1st-3rd:

"Shop up to 50 hot brands in our emerging fashion & accessories pavilion
Sip delicious cocktails & refreshments at our 5-hour complimentary bars
Sample fabulous products & services by our supreme sponsors
Score loads of goodies in Shecky's Deluxe Goodie Bag (now in a NEW tote!)"

T and Lo will be there all three nights playing the part of EMc2 shopgirls.
Please don't show up dressed like this because we'll probably laugh at you if you do.

You're going to get some amazing deals, not only on Emmett's gorgeous stuff, but on items from dozens of companies. Shopping and cocktails! Who doesn't think that's a perfectly fabulous idea?

Thursday tickets are already sold out, so all you Tri-State area shopaholics need to get cracking. And for the Miami crowd, put aside your pin money, because Emmett's coming to the Shecky's event there later in the month.

I wish I could justify driving up there...

Seeing as how I live quite far from Philly and can't attend, I have to take pleasure in the thought that I too could be a graphic designer and create marketing pieces with only a trusty set of Fashion Plates.

But will you make fun of me if I said I wore the outfit on the right in 1987?

(So jealous of anyone who lives close enough to attend!)

OMG chicksinger! I loved the idea of Fashion Plates and coveted them when I spotted them in the Sears catalogue. Sadly, my sisters never got them and I couldn't ask for them so it was just a dream toy for me.

What IS this Shecky's Girls thing? And why isn't it coming to Washington D.C.??!!! Dammitall, I want to go!!

David, if only I known you when we were kids.

We could have gotten ourselves invited over to the home of some neighbor girl who actually had Fashion Plates.

I could have brought my Toot-A-Loop Radio along ("It's an 'S'. It's an 'O'. It's a crazy radio!")

You could have brought Hugo, Man of a Thousand Faces.

It would have been the best afternoon ever!

I wish I could be there too. Crap! It had to be on school nights! (Darn being a mommy sometimes!) Please take photos for us who wished we could go, and tell Emmett to make it a weekend next time! :-P

I went to the Boston one with a bunch of girlfriends. We had a great time, and we all agreed that Emmett had the best stuff there, by far. It was fun to meet Emmett. What a wonderful, sweet guy! I offered to help him. He almost took me up on it, but decided he had enough help after all. Maybe another time.

Anyone close enough really should try to go. Emmett is offering some amazing prices on some absolutely beautiful clothes! I love that he knows how to make clothes that "real women" will look great in.

Is he only going to a couple places or will he be coming to Atlanta too? If so I might go to that one.

I love you all for talking about Fashion Plates!! My mom keeps pulling out my old childhood toys from God knows where (and I'm 35 -- where is she keeping them??) but the Fashion Plates have never surfaced. Bill, I will totally invite you over if they are ever found. Those things were HOURS of fun. I need to buy a set for my daughter stat.

This is too weird. I was just thinking about Fashion Plates the other day! I had them -- I think they probably actually belonged to one of my older sisters and got handed down to me, because the fashions were very early 80s.

I live between Philly and DC and would love to buy some Emmett clothes, but I know I'm nowhere near fashionable enough to go to an event like this. Le sigh.

Of course this is the first I've heard of this, and of course it's sold out for tonight, my only night off for the next month. I suddenly feel so incredibly hateful.
