Previews, Poodles!

Friday, November 30, 2007 by

Well, in case you were dying to know what happened in the last episode, this preview doesn't really tell you much except that there's a slight twist in the model elimination.

On the other hand, we have this picture from the upcoming episode:

There's some mighty '80s-looking fashion in those pictures on the table. Commence bitchy, fact-free speculation... NOW!

That's how they did it on PR Canada.

I predict Christian will win next week!!

TiVo tells me that next week's episode is "turning a fashion don't into a fashion do." So I guess they get some absolute disasters and have to MAKE THEM WORK. ???

hmm... more fashion icons? Is that Veronica Webb on the right?

They have an '80's challenge and poor Carmen missed it?!

I'm really hating on all the mystery guests. Where are the bizarre materials challenges? Those are fun.

Anonymous said...

That's Christian's portfolio laid out before everyone. . . .

Anonymous said...

This is a bizarre material challenge where one of the ugly-ass garments in the picture needs to be made into a beautiful outfit of today.

Bill said...

(Bill doing his best Tim Gunn imitation) -

"Gather around, everyone. Your challenge this week is to create the wardrobe for a Cosby Show reunion special. You will be dressing the cast in clothes reminiscent of the series heyday. As you know, The Cosby Show ran on our sister network, NBC, from 1984 to 1992. Our special guest judge is here now. (workroom door opens)Welcome, Tempest Bledsoe!"

(As Christain faints from 80's retro excitement, scream can be heard from the streets outside of Parsons. A camera pans outsside to reveal Carmen Lloyd Webber, finally crying real tears, banging on the locked PR production entrance doors and wailing at the unfairness of the timing of this challenge: "I could have shown you what I can do!! With my dignity and chin held high!!.)

I think that the photos are advertisements of garments made of specific material. It looks as if one (in front of Jack) has "pleather" written down the side. Jillian would have denim, I guess. I can't tell about Rami's or Christian's. I have a feeling Jack is going to take Chris's model.

Anne said...

What are the looks though? Those look like magazine covers to me.

Actually, I think it says "overalls" on Jillian's and "poodle skirt" on Rami's.

Unknown said...

Sorry for 3 posts but Christian's is "zoot suit" (which is actually a style from long before the 1980s version that appears in the photo but maybe that's part of the deal...

Anne said...

They say "Poodle Skirt", "Overalls" and "Pleather". I can't read the fourth one.

Wait...Jillian's "fashion don't" is overalls and she is actually WEARING overalls when the challenge is assigned to her?

My totally fact-free guess is this, they went to the basement and got old simplicity patterns and handed them out to the designers and told them to update the stale look.....it could happen.

GothamTomato said...

I'm thinking that the producers were watching a PR marathon, and realized that Anne Slowey was the worst judge ever, and reconsidered their objections to Tootie, and will have a Facts of Life themed challenge.

The twist is, all the girls now look like Mrs. Garrett.

I think those pictures are editoral from Elle magazine in the 80's. I bet they have to up date the "look" or "trend" from the 80's that they are assigned. Group challenge? And the four team leaders are in the picture.

Anonymous said...

Okay, Christian asked to update an 80s look? He'll look at the picture and say, "How fierce!" before sending it down the runway with no changes whatsoever.

Jack, you're at least supposed to say your old model is pretty or a joy to work with before you dump her ass.

Oh, god, the Princess won't let us hear the end of this one.

Bill, darling, you are my hero.

Jack is totally going to take Ricky's model. And Ricky's going to cry. Again.

It's gonna be great.

3:48 PM

I will admit to squeeing in anticipation of when Ricky's first tears will fall whenever they cut to a close-up of him...it's shameful I know, but true

I also want one of the other designers to do their best Lucille ball imitation and run up to Ricky screaming "AWWWWWWWWWWWW, Riiiickkyyy"!

Looks more or less to me like "take this former fashion trend and do something modern with it". Which... I guess could be interesting, maybe? I don't know, this season really isn't thrilling me so far so I'm not really feeling terribly excited.

Anne said...

I just can't stand the Bravo previews where they remind you endlessly what happened last time. I REALLY HATE THAT. And to add insult to injury, they use the *same* freakin' clips they used when the show was a preview!

I think its such bullshit the way they get rid of the models even though they were never on the runway.

Sucks to get fired for something someone did on your day off..yah know.

Anonymous said...

If it's a fashion don't to fashion do challenge, it will be interesting to see who wins this. There have been too many fashion don'ts that have already walked down this season's runway.

God, I hate the 80s!

More disastrous results? I bet Christian will win this one.

LOL. I think I had every single one of those outfits.

LOL. I love when they say "you're fabulous but this time I'm going to go with _________"

I think Jack is going to choose Leah - He said she was "the sickest" model," which could suck because I don't want Christina to go home - She's fierce...and I've worked with her before and she's awesome : )

Dahling, I first thought each designer was asked to produce a photo of their first "fashion inspiration." If it's turning a fashion don't into a fashion do, shouldn't they simply rework the designs of the first three episodes??

Anonymous said...

Much like the "Fashion Icon" challenge last year, I think its just the designers modernizing a certain 80's style for an appropriate hipper look for today.

Inspired by Christian's Bitten hated design, perhaps?

Anonymous said...

My guess would be that the challenge will be to update these looks. Jillian just needs to give her own clothes to her model, how convenient!

The model in the poodle skirt picture looks like Veronica Webb. It looks like a current photo, it's probably a promo shot for Tim Gunn's Guide to Style.

what do you think Rami was really going to say, "blood, sweat and.....?????" I don't think he was going to say chinese food.

Anonymous said...

it's so obvious: update a look from the 80's. Christian will win.

The Princess will win!! The 80's rule!!
Well the music, not the clothes----
lived through that and don't need to do it again!!

LOL - bill! that's hysterical!

and major LOLs for jillian's overalls!! i'm loving this episode already!

jack is for sure taking ricky's model. so looking forward to the tears!

also definitely looks like they have to revamp fashion don'ts (pleather, overalls, poodle skirt, zoot suit & one more). tv previews have shown it to be a group challenge, with teams of three. but there are at least 5 cards & 12 designers. so, who knows?

Anonymous said...

Oh god, not the 80s!

Tempest Bledsoe! Love it, Bill. Ha! the next fashion icon? :)

I have a confession. I miss shoulder pads. They balanced out my hips like nothing else. The painted metal earrings, the velvet headbands, the fringed suede; all these things can stay in the past. I will, however, pledge myself to the designer who brings back shoulder pads. Shoulder pads were good in the forties and they can be good again.

Anonymous said...

The yellow one on the left looks like the Don Johnson t-shirt under suit look. Please, I can't take any more 80s flashbacks! I'm already having nightmares about being strangled by my old legwarmers!

If it's an 80's challenge and Christian doesn't win it I will be stunned!!!!

Shoulder pads are the only thing I miss about the 80's as well. Not the giant, Joan Crawford ones, but the more subtle ones. I always thought they made my posture look better.

As for fringed suede: I had a purple fringed suede vest that I loved. Then I went to see Tootsie & Dustin Hoffman was wearing my vest. I never wore it again (though, I do still have it).

The main thing wrong with this picture: Jack and Rami are wearing shirts.

I think the "look" on the far left is NEON. What else ends in "on" and could be tied with a fashion trend and that horrid neon yellow suit?

Is there a 5th capo? If so, I'm going with VictorYA. Can't wait for her showdown with The Faucet. My bet for first cry: 10:12 or if there is a commerical then, about a minute after the show resumes from that point. No later than 10:20 for sure.

This photo looks like Rami is a captain and has already chosen Jillian and is looking over at the other designers to see who to pick next and saying, "I choose... Steven."

Jack must be another captain and chose to work with Christian.

AND THE MODELS GET TO WEAR HEELS WHEN THE DESIGNERS CHOOSE THEM THIS SEASON!!! We had to always be barefoot. Yay for bluefly. <3

Anne said...

Amanda!!

Dish girl! What have you been doing since PR? I saw one post from T&L about you and then there's just been a VOID. Have you worked with any of the other PR designers? Did you get a lot of work as a result of the show?

And most importantly, did it enhance your career enough to make it worth doing it for nothing?

If I were Jillian I'd be mortified. They're mocking something she's wearing herself?? LOL.

Hey guys! I was just watching the finale (part one) and I noticed that when rami and Jillian were paired up they quoted you and said...."The BROTHER SISTER ACT!!!"

thought you would enjoy that
