Dress Like You Mean It!
Wednesday, June 13, 2007 by Author
MSN has a new feature on their site called Style Studio and kittens? It's fabulous (although that site is a little confusing).
Our girl Laura Bennett, our other girl Nick Verreos, makeup artist Troy Jensen, boutique owner Stefani Greenfield, and hair stylist Helena Faccenda (who was responsible for all of Heidi's looks on Project Runway) make up The Glam Squad and girls, they are here to make you more fierce than ever!
Every day, a new video is posted wherein one of the Glam Squadders offers up tips on fashion, trends, hair, makeup and more. There's also a message board where viewers can ask questions for the Squadders to answer.
Watch the introduction video here where Nick (to absolutely no one's surprise) informs us that when he was a little boy, he designed flight attendant uniforms or how Laura would go for a cupcake over a meal any day.
Then click on any video on the right and watch more videos of puffy-haired Laura (she's gonna kill us for that) talking about defining evening dress code or how to keep a party-ready stash of accessories. Killer shoes, as always, girl!
OR Nick telling us how to transform your wardrobe with just a few easy pieces or how to look red carpet ready. Take a drink every time he says "Fierce!"

Laura is so glamorous and Nick is hilarious. Great videos and tips!
LOL. I love Uncle Nick! He is FIERCE!! Laura is divine. I could spend the whole day watching her.
"Killer shoes, as always, girl!"
I love those shoes. They're gorgeous! Laura needs to design her own shoes.
Troy is HOT! Here's his MySpace page:
http://www.myspace.com/troyjensenmakeup
He also appeared on Shear Genius. When they are down to the last four stylists, and they are given the task to participate in their own individual photo-shoot and a chance to work with Beauty/Celebrity photographer Matthew Rolston. Troy Jensen did the makeup.
Bookmarked it! Thanks!!

Nick is so gay, GAY, G-A-Y!! He's adorable! I love when he asked the little girl if she watched the show. It's hilarious!
Thank you for the link, darlings!
"Dress Like you Mean It."
I'm going to put that on my closet door.
Yay, Laura wearing white! The hair is a little puffy (you bitches!) but she looks gorgeous. She does a fantastic job in front of a camera. She is a natural.
Take a drink every time he says "Fierce!"
ROFL. It's true. Even I say that all the time now.
"Honey, this shampoo is FIERCE!"
Thanks for the heads-up, the clips are great.
Seriously drool-worthy kicks there, Laura--you rock.
Thank you for the links, T&L.
Nick is so cute. I ran into him once here in LA and he was so nice to me. Dame Laura always looks gorgeous (How does she do it?), and darlings, I want those fuck-me shoes. They're to dye for!
Call me cranky, but, though it's always great to see Nick and Laura, I found the clips and advice tedious.
OH. MY. GOD. T-H-E S-H-O-E-S! They are GORGEOUS! Laura never ceases to amaze me with her sense of style and fabulosity!
Why the hell doesn't she have her own show yet?
I absolutely ADORE Nick & would watch him in anything.
Laura's hair looks great and relaxed & I'd give about anything to have those same shoes, (and actually look like I belong in them).
That guy who talked about getting a box of cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery is clueless. Magnolia Bakery is to cupcakes what Mama Leone's was to Italian food.

I hate to disagree with you guys, but I like Laura's hair! It's a softer look, and I think it looks great on her.
nick cant even help himself :) what a doll.
as always laura is FAB!!!
Egads! It took forever for the dang video to download! And when it did I kinda didn't get it. It seems like a infomercial without a product. Is it an on-line magazine? The intro wasn't clear. What were those color blocked sportswear garments behind Laura (in her first scene)?
Nice to see Nick and Laura again though. My youngest son likes Nicks hair.
Tom and Lorenzo, thank you for the Fabulous explanation of my new project on MSN.com.
I do admit that my hair looks puffy, and while my fist inclination is to blame it on the aspect ratio of your computer screen, I will take full responsibility. I have executed an addendum to my contract that states I am not required to arrive on set until after 9:30am giving me ample time to visit my personal hairdresser.
As for the shoes, they do indeed define "fabulously glamorous." I feel no need to design shoes when Messrs. Blahnik and Caovillo do it so well. I gladly put my life (or my feet) in their hands.
I do agree that the tips may be construed as a bit tedious. I showed up on set not knowing exactly what to expect and it was a learning expirience for everyone. From now on I will be given my topics ahead of time and be able to do my own research and write my own scripts. I invite you all to participate. Please send in topics you want to learn about or information you want to share. I will either accuse you of cheating or film a segment just for you, depending on my mood.
I know that all you fabulously loyal fans will tune in everyday to MSN.com, check out Style Studio, and buy sponsored products like Pantene, Max Factor, and Crest Multicare Whitening Strips, right?
Have a drink everytime I use the word fabulous!
Laura
Nick IS a cutie! And Laura---well, she just rules the cosmos, as far as I'm concerned. She is from Fabulon, whether she knows it or not!
OMG! Laura, if you are still on line, What was your worst fashion faux pas? It has to be worse than "thinking you are a size 4" (which you look like you are by the way). Come on, you lived though the 80's, what was it? We won't tell a soul.
Best regards , Sewing Siren (a runway reject)
Take a drink every time he says "Fierce!"
Alright! A new shots game! College kids can now retire "Cardinal Puff"
Kittens,
We're already getting emails asking about Laura's shoes. They're Manolo Blahnik, darlings!
Laura, my computer is so old, it could have voted in the prior Bush administration. (Well, almost.) So a lot of video links crash and burn. Sadly, this was one of them, so I am relying on what I read herein.
The only question or request I can think of is begging you to spill the beans on your beading secrets. You do things that none of my books even touch. Remember what we learned in kindergarten, sharing is good.
The sound worked for me, but the visual didn't for some reason. I can't believe Laura actually reads these! Hey, Laura! I know you said you won't wear anything less than a 4 inch heel to a dinner party...yikes! I can't walk in high heels. I'm only 19 and don't go to dinner parties, but I don't think I'll ever be able to walk in high heels. Not today or 20 years from now :( But you're a doll anyway!
as much as I love Laura - I was very confused and disappointed by these videos. i clicked over to this site the minute i saw it on BPR and then again today when I saw it here - but... what is it? I agree with sewing siren who said:
"I kinda didn't get it. It seems like a infomercial without a product. Is it an on-line magazine? The intro wasn't clear."
I would click over to the ends of the earth for ms. bennett - but these videos seemed a little stagey and forced. That big intro video where they all speak? The woman with the blond hair? Seems like she thinks she is pretty darn humorous. But...not so much.
Oh Laura, what are you doing in a project like this? I want to see YOU in your OWN show with your OWN videos. The unscripted words that come out of your mouth are so much more entertaining than these scripts.
It would be an improvement if you wrote your own material. Or just take the topic and talk free-form. I want access to YOU and what YOU have to say - not to glam-tips doctored up by a thousand publicists and MSN executives. I want to hear your real thoughts and advice. Sounds like that's your goal - which is a good thing.
As for the hair, it's OK. I liked the shoulder length better but I'm willing to take Ms. Bennett with anything except for a faux-hawk.
Oh Laura...
Love, love, love those shoes-Laura remains fabulously glamourous-and I love Uncle Nick and Laura on the same site!
The site is a bit confusing, but I don't understand why some people still don't get what this is about.
I mean, the information is in the post:
"MSN has a new feature on their site called Style Studio...

There's also a message board where viewers can ask questions for the Squadders to answer."
I liked Laura's tip to carry some accessories in your purse just in case you head to a party or event after work and have some different to wear.
Nick is ADORABLE!

Restraining order anyone?
Lighten up, it's just fashion.
I think Nick is just too adorable for words, and I agree with Gotham Tomato, I would watch him in anything.
Love you, Nick!
"They're Manolo Blahnik, darlings!"
And they are available at Bergdorf Goodman, in store and at their online site. Cut and paste in your browser to shop for her shoes:

Alas, if only I didn't have such hideous feet, I would find a way to scrape and save and by myself a pair!
Über-fabulous LB, über-fabulous shoes, of course!
Oops, my bad - close but no banana on the shoes. She has the double-über-fabulous sandals. The ones I linked to are merely über-fabulous.
Laura, your hair would only be considered puffy north of the Mason-Dixon Line.....
You're looking fabulous, as always. Looks like you're having fun, too!
I need to go shoe shopping with Laura : - ) She has great taste!
Thanks, Laura, for responding to our comments. It's good to hear that you'll be researching your own tips from now on.
"Have a drink everytime I use the word fabulous!
Laura"
Oh, Laura, you're the best, darling! Thank you for stopping by.
OK, you're all drooling over Laura's shoes (They are gorgeous). I want Nick's chain, key thing. It's so cool.
I worship at the House of Laura (and her fab shoes)and am tickled she reads this blog too! I wish you and Nick would come make over the teaching staff I work with. Egads! Love you both.
Laura,
I love cupcakes! :)

"That guy who talked about getting a box of cupcakes from the Magnolia Bakery is clueless. Magnolia Bakery is to cupcakes what Mama Leone's was to Italian food."
It's so true. LOL. You are awful, Gotham! LOL.
Love the videos, Boys! Laura: Fab Troy: Hot Nick: Adorable Stephanie: Cool Helena: Lupe?
I need a Laura Bennett in my life. You bitches are so lucky.
Between "Fabulous" and "Fierce" I'd be trashed in no time flat. :-)
Love ya both, but I'm still holding out hope (as I suggested on TLo last night) for a Laura/Tab snarkfest on Bravo. Uncle Nick, Kayne, Anthony and Robert Best could stop by for additional fun.
It could happen.
It definitely needs some improvement, (the site IS a little confusing) but it's a great idea, especially for when you're bored, browsing the internet, and looking for ideas and tips.
thank you guys for showing this new link and Laura, please wear white clothes more often, it looks gorgeous with your hair, which i think looks awesome!
anyway, regarding your tip on shoes for evening wear, i wish i could stand on 4'' heels for more than 5 min!
look forward to more tips on style, and "dress like you mean it": did you come up with that line? it's great! i'll try to remember that every morning.
"Dress like you mean it"
LOVE it.
Fab. Laura and Nick on the same show? Hit!
Laura rocks! She's my hero! Thank you for the links.
So good to see Laura again! She is working that white suit.
Although I LOVE Laura, I disagree with one thing she said. I broke my ankle and tore a few ligaments down there, so my high heel days are over because of all the scar tissue my foot isn't flexible anymore. I can't wear 4" heels. I'm LUCKY that I can manage to wear 2" heels. I've resigned myself to a life of 2" or less but because I'm 5'8" I can get away with it. So even though I can't wear 4" heels, I'm still fabulous. Love ya Laura!
Fabulous! The more tips and advices I get the better. I could watch those two all day.
Thank you for the link. As a mother of two, I rarely have time to read a magazine. This way I can watch a video while I'm reading my emails or browsing.
Thank you, guys! I love those two.
I prefer the puff to the ponytail.
Note to jowly women of a certain age - especially one mother of Mr. Michael Kors - nothing ages you more than a low ponytail.
It's gravity's friend, not yours.
Nick is so cute. What a smile!
