FWD: Simply Chloe Dao on QVC

Sunday, April 29, 2007 by

"The worst part about winning is that people expect you to become this amazing accomplished designer right away. Everyone has really high expectations, but they forget we [Project Runway contestants] are all young and small designers."

Fashion Wire Daily talks to Season 2 winner Chloe about her upcoming line for QVC, Simply Chloe Dao.

"The "Simply Chloe Dao" line will debut on May 10 and the collection, which includes an interpretation of the silk tank dress from the reality show's final challenge, will feature modern silhouettes at reasonable price points. The prices range from $75, for the silk dress, to $30 for a stretch ribbed tank."

OMFG. You mean someone is making something I might actually AFFORD?

I really like the last shot, too. It's cute, it's ageless, and it's in my favorites (black & white). I could actually wear that! Go Chloe!!!

I second that. Affordable and cute? I love her lines and I think people who aren't tiny are still going to look good. You go girl!

Yeah, Chloe!

Cute clothes, affordable, and did I say cute?

Chloe is both female friendly and CONSUMER friendly. She'd be the only one I'd peg to put out something I'd not only like, but buy. Hurrah for that.

I really like Chloe's designs and I hope I can purchase a few things on QVC.

Did the prgboys just give away the ending? Hmm.

I love her stuff, though, and by the way, take note, Danny V -- Chloe is HOTT when she wears cute tasteful clothes that fit....

These are adorable. I love's Chloe's style. One of her strengths on the show is what the judges called being "woman-friendly" (or something); I took that mean that I could look at any of her designs, and quickly be able to tell whether or not it would flatter me. I'm excited that she has a line out.

I love her clothes! I can't wait to buy a few pieces! Congratulations, Chloe!

What a brilliant placement for her! Great idea and I think this will bring great results. I see other PR designers jumping on this bandwagon.

I think Chloe IS pretty accomplished!

I remember reading somewhere though that this years producers were saying how they were disappointed in the past winners, that none of them really became THAT successful- and I think of Chloe......talk about a bitch slap.

Chloe is very talented and a hard worker. She deserves all the success and attention she's been getting. I love her clothes!

Finally a winner who designs clothes I would wear and that flatter my figure and who knows all about hiding figure flaws. How cute are these dresses and tops? Way to go, Chloe.

Hmmm...definitely need to mark my calendar--if it's anything like the first time Heidi Klum had her jewelry on QVC, they'll probably sell out of the lot in the first 30 minutes!

Kudos to Chloe, and her affordable clothing!

When the judges were pretending that they might not pass her through to the final (as if), the rap against Chloe was that she didn't want enough to be the next big thing in Manhattan. She's always impressed me as someone with both talent and skill and as someone who defined success on her own terms. Good for her.

She could definitely charge more. At these prices it's less fashion and more just commercial clothing like JC Penney's rather than at least Banana Republic.

She does. I just think it's a wise idea to have a more affordable line aside from the more exclusive designs she has in her store.

And there's nothing wrong with that - Mizrahi, Behnez Sarafpour, and Proenza Schouler (Tim's darling Parsons successes) have all run successful lines at Target. Chloe's setting up a smart strategy for mass-market, bridge, and boutique lines - I suspect her longterm business plan is in full effect.

Off to QVC.com!

Love! Especially the first dress!

Methinks Chloe's the first celeb that will get me to watch QVC.

Oh, I can't wait! Thank you fo the pictures, guys.

The purple print dress will soon be mine. I wonder if I can pre-order...I may need it before May 20th for a sad occasion. :-(

<3 ya Chloe!

Love you guys and LOVE Chloe, but ...
I don't like these clothes. Looks like something my mom can pick up at JCPenney. Maybe these clothes are just too old for me.
I don't buy clothes at QVC anyways. I buy their jewelery. :D

The second dress and the kimono outfit are too cute except for the too big black satin bow. I wonder if it will come in "fluffy" sizes? Hmmmmm

Chloe's stuff for QVC is really quite nice! And very accessible as well. Chloe can have the best of both worlds with this line as well as a higher-end one. I am glad she is not limiting herself to one particular price point. Think of it this way, she can still be commercial if she designs for a larger demographic at a lower price. Chloe has PROVEN that she is a designer as well as an astute businesswoman. THIS is how a Project Runway winner truly succeeds! CONGRATS to Chloe!
