Modelicious!

One of the very best things about S1 (from our admittedly gay perspective) was the fact that the models were a much bigger part of the process and subsequently there was much more model drama. And who doesn't love model drama?
Because of the way the model selection process was set up, no designer or model ever really knew who they would be working with from challenge to challenge, which made the selection process simply fraught with drama. Fraught, we tell you!
You knew from fairly early on who the models wanted to work with most: Austin, Kara Saun, Jay. Those bitches knew what they were doing.
And they didn't even try to hide it when someone they like picked them.
We love how the other models are politely clapping with that "Yeah. That's fucking great." look on their faces.
But of course, the constant model switching also meant that quite often, someone got auf'd who didn't deserve or expect it.
And that put a lot of stress on the designers.
Delicious, entertaining stress.
Jesus, she looks like she could jump clear over Heidi's head. You'd think he was handing her the keys to a new car.
What makes it even doubly hilarious is when you think about the difference between how models handle aufings and how designers handle them. With designers, the one who makes it in is usually contrite, might even give the aufee a hug or a shoulder squeeze as they leave the runway. Not our girls.
"Fuck YEAH! Sorry bitch, I'm outta here!"

Yeah, I miss those model moments and drama in front and behind the stage. But that coverage cut into Tim's time. If you notice, our delicious Mr. Gunn is hardly a presence in these early episodes.
One solution is to stretch Project Runway to 2 hours, so we can enjoy model drama, more of Tim Gunn, and see more of the judging process! I'm willing to sacrifice two hours of my life each week to watch such a show!
bravo needs to bring back model drama, it made it a lot more exciting. and a lot more appealing to watch, because god knows i'd rather watch marilinda or amanda prancing around, fainting all over the place over jeffrey's fug neck telling people to wittily 'get a stroke'.
You're right. And I miss the model drama from S1 too. I like how they never knew who would pick them. I think there should be more model/designer switching. It was S2 that clearly outlined switching as showing no allegiance to the models they were given early on. And while that's nice and all, it does make for exciting t.v.; you always knew who would get picked, or not.
"Prancing around, fainting all over the place." Hilarious :)
SERIOUSLY! Why didn't they show that to us during the actual season and not the reunion special? That shit was funny as hell! Amanda's auf-ing was the best! :)
Bring back the model drama. They have that special knack for it that is just too entertaining to leave out.
OMG, guys, I almost chocked on my french beans with the last caption! HAHAHA!!!
Btw, I got my PR S1 DVD on Saturday (got from your link ;-) ) and watched a marathon. WOW! What an AWSOME season!!!
I had onlt seen a few Epis before, but now, seeing everything I see why many people think it's the best season...
AWSOME! And now I feel in the "clique".. ;-)
As for the models.. I totally agree!
I agree that we need to return to the days of picking models every challenge. It made it less like any one wodel was "associated" with any one designer.
That did still happen, but on a smaller scale. That being said, the moments in later seasons when a designer "cuckolded" another by "stealing" their model, it made for great bitchy moments!!!
I miss those model moments too. It's light drama.
"Fuck YEAH! Sorry bitch, I'm outta here!"
OMG!! There's goes the coffee through the nose! Nothing I can quip will top that! You guys are F-ing hilarious!
I heard the models tried their best to stick to the designers they thought would stay longer. Of course, that didn't always work.
That's my husband's favorite part of the show. : - )
I didn't like the model drama from Season 1 (Morgan was a psycho). Another reason why I loved Season 2 was because it was a perfect mix of designer drama, model drama, fun, and comraderie. Season 3 was too focused on designer drama, and I would love to see a more balanced Season 4 (PR producers....back off with the contrivances and let the real talent come through!)
"Delicious, entertaining stress."
YES.
Much better than manufactured Santino/ Angela/ Vincent/ Jeffrey drama.
I hope BRAVO takes notes... they got a few months to prepare for the next season.
I miss those cute li'l buttons. I liked those.
Fucking with shit-heads,
Maddie
"Fuck YEAH! Sorry bitch, I'm outta here!"
That picture of Josiane running is hilarious.
I still think the Season 1 models were the best. They were so beautiful, and those girls could walk.
The draaaaammmmmaaaa of 20-year-olds wears thin. I was glad to see less of the models and more of the designers finding a true muse. If I want to watch immaturity on parade, there always "The Real World."
I think it's entertaining as hell. I wouldn't call the things out of Jeffrey's or Santino's mouth mature either.
What I don't understand was Bravo's decision for S2 to make the designers and models partners for the season. The producers said it was because S1 designers didn't mix it up enough with the models and it was too boring waiting for the model-choosing, but looking at S1, the designers mixed it up quite a bit. Of course there were favorites (trying to keep the spoilers down), but models were mixed up almost right to the last challenge.
There was more mixing in S1 than S3, and I liked it. I also agree that S1 models seemed to have more personality and were better models all around, but that may be favoritism on my part.
Now, can anyone pinpoint the "aufing" where Heidi went from shaking hands to kissing, then from kissing to "kissing with the 'muah' noise!"?
That picture of Josiane running is hilarious.
You don't even need to Photoshop a cartoonish picture of a dustcloud, just envision it.
I am and I'm LAUGHING.
I know that sounds a bit silly, but I love all those captions. You can see all the details and things you would normally miss or not pay attention to, like the buttons with the designers' names on them, for example.
I do think that Season 1 had the best models. I hated the models from Season 3. They were not that pretty (not that a model has to be pretty) and they couldn't walk.
As a straight man, I think anything that leads to more scenes where luscious 18-year-olds stand around in microscopic satin skirts is a good thing. I'm also enjoying the frequent nudity, blurred-out though it may be.
I would agree with embeedubya about showing more of the designers "finding their muse" if that's in fact what they did. But they haven't; Season 3 not only had less model drama, it had LESS insight into the creative process. The only thing that really matters to Bravo is the utterly bogus game-show drama, where they stand there under the blue lights and the thudding music.
Personally, I think the world was a much better place before someone decided that models should speak.

I agree with Ms. Place that the model drama appears to be cutting into our Tim Gunn time.
But I do like the model drama from season one. And in addition to more model drama, there is also much more naked model flesh in the design room, which the straight boys must be enjoying.
YES!!! I love the model drama. It's usually funny without being nasty.
i like alison. :(
i like more model time than tim gunn time.
there is too much tim gunn recently.
it is over the top. lol.
"Delicious, entertaining stress."
Reason # 37 as to why I watch the show.
loooooooove the season 1 model drama. It made it all the more fun.
Those captions were some of your best work yet
