Kara Saunderful

See what we meant when we said the garments suddenly got better with this episode? Not an art camp project among them. This is a 100% impact dress and while it's not for every woman, the woman who can wear it is going to turn heads in it.

We'll grant you that a bright yellow is a hard color to pull off for a lot of people but there's no denying the color looks stunning on Martinique - and the dress fits her, in the Duchess's words "like a dream."

That back is gorgeous, although the little Minnie Mouse gloves aren't really working for us. We also have the same criticism we had for Wendy's dress; there should be something to break up the wall of solid color, although since this is more of a va-va-voom dress than Wendy's Mamie Eisenhower getup, it's less of an issue.

The ruffles on the skirt are what makes it a tough dress to sell because like we said, not every woman can pull it off, but put it on a gal who's proud of her trunk and just stand back and watch that thing move.

My number two favorite after Jay's creation. Its form fitting, figure flattering bodice makes up for the ruffly skirt and banana yellow color (which should have sold it to Banana Republic.)

Kudos to Kara who I like in the competition at this point. Jay still wins hands down. His dress is to die for; Kara's is simply gorgeous.

That Kara Saun out-Gucci'd Gucci! Tom Ford eat your heart out! The detailing, the fit, perfect! PRGB, so right on target! Jay and KS especially really kicked up the volume here. Not feelin' the gloves either, but that color on La Martinique is like melted butter on a perfect piece of toast. Tasty!

Why doesn't Kara win?

Not Banana Republic-worthy, to be sure, but Martinique looked smokin' in it. Imagine it in red. On Heidi. In green. On Nina. In black. On Michael Kors. Too far?

Another beauty, but alas, this ain't hangin' in the Banana!

I'd buy this dress in a New York minute! (Though, not in yellow. I'd love it in a deep purple.)

Kara, are you listening?? Please make some & place thim in Emmett's store!

I love it. The ruffles, being vertical, don't add width and avoid the precious trap. Just not fond of the color (although I know she was trying to stay in the BR palette of that season).

It has been a fun ride. Auf to new adventures. My fav. dining experience in Germany is "go Italian"

When does it become clear Kara's the frontrunner? Now, or later... or ever... because I would think Jay, even without a win, seems the most likely, especially based on this performance of his?

This is a magazine dress, not one you'd see on an actual person. It photographs well, is visually exciting, and the only kind of woman it looks well on is a model-type.

Difficult to wear, as I found most of Kara Saun's clothes, in spite of her exacting fit and wonderful execution.

Could we PLEASE not refer to future episodes here? If Kara does in fact "become the frontrunner" in the future, I don't want to hear about it until she does.

Hi T&L
Did I mention that you are blazing shining stars. I come here to visualize this magical piece of heaven on earth. I see Konigsee, Olympian training ground, the opening scene of the Sound of Music, panoramic vistas and rich architecture. Bravo.

Gorgeous. How Pepper beat either Jay or Kara Saun in this challenge still baffles me.

Can I just tell you guys that I absolutely love those screen captions? It's like looking at the dresses from a whole different perspective and angle. Thank you, darlings. I will come back for more.

Don't know where else to post this but Jeffrey & Vincent's dresses from the Waste Not Want Not challenge are up for sale on Ebay.

Now don't eveyone trip over each other trying to bid on Vincent's rolled up oak tag.
(for the record...no bids yet on either and it starts at $100.....Jeffrey's at $300.)

The dress is beautiful. A bit too shiny, a bit too yellow, but the cut is perfect.

I love Jay's, but this one would have to be my second favorite dress. I love Kara Saun. She's so talented.

This was actually my favorite. I love the color.

You buys were spot-on, as usual. This dress was stunningly fitted on Martinique. However, I can understand why the judges shied away from considering it for mass-production. A lot of women would not dare wear the ruffles across the hips and butt.

This dress is a perfect example of Kara Saun in her more "luxury wear" mode, and as usual, she pulls it off with the style and grace of Gucci.

Unlike Gucci, however, she also has an edgy side to her fashion, as we have seen in other looks she has produced.

She really is a talented designer.

Sorry, I don't feel the love for this dress. It's well-made, for sure, but it's got a big-time Easter vibe, and the ruffles are distracting. I agree that it's a great magazine dress -- for the Spring issue.

I liked this dress a lot. It was third for me, after Jay's and Austin's.
