Laura Bennett, working for Peanuts.

You better love us, bitches. Because we bring you the scoop!

"Good grief" turns into fashion relief as MetLife presents a group designer fashion show featuring exclusively designed fashions for Snoopy on September 7 at 6 p.m. as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Bryant Park. Many of fashion’s most renowned designers have confirmed their participation, including Heatherette, Isaac Mizrahi, Betsey Johnson, Pamella Roland, and Project Runway alum Laura Bennett. Each designer has taken inspiration from their favorite Peanuts character to create a couture runway outfit, making a bold leap from initial black-and-white sketch to vibrant, colorful ensemble.

Following the MetLife Snoopy in Fashion show, Peanuts fans and fashionistas alike will share the opportunity to bid on the unique designer runway creations in an eBay auction. Proceeds from the MetLife Snoopy in Fashion auction will benefit Dress for Success, a non-profit organization which promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life."

And because we're so fabulously glamorous, we broke into Laura's loft and stole her sketches! We do it all for you, kittens!

How frigging GORGEOUS are those dresses?

What a fantastic idea and they are gorgeous!

For years Charlie Brown was a holiday staple for our family. That's so cool!

OMG CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!! I love the "pig pen" dress. I would totally wear it.

I love them, and the sketches are gorgeous too. Go, Bad Mommy!!

Bryant Park again with Heatherette, Isaac Mizrahi, and Betsey Johnson? That's hot. Congrats, Laura!

Anonymous said...

LOVE HER! And her dresses too, of course.

The Pig Pen gown is beyond fabulous. I can just see the "dusty" tuille (or whatever) hovering around a gorge brown gown! How inspired.

Oh, and pleeeeze tell me that there is a big hat to go with the woodstock gown! Nothing too "Nona-in-Lady-Marmalade-video", but you get the idea.

Those sketches are hysterical...can't wait to see pics of the real thing(s)!

I never realized that Pig Pen was a cross dresser. It's always the ones you don't expect.

And I love, love, LOVE the Woodstock dress.

Wouldn't that make a great challenge for Project Runway?: Design a garment inspired by an iconic cartoon character.

Inquiring minds want to know if you were at Laura's loft celebrating her birthday? Tell us what kind of gifts she got. Diamonds? Jewelry? Spill it.

Oh, and I love the Pigpen dress. Fabulous!!

Love them. Woodstock I would have worn back in the younger days. Pigpen I want NOW. Funny, I never really liked sparkles and feathers until PR and especially Laura!

I love Laura! And I agree with Gotham Tomato, that would be a great idea for the show: Design a garment inspired by an iconic cartoon character.

I love the yellow dress. My favorite character in the entire Peanuts family is Woodstock. Great job, Laura!

I'll never forget Laura's white peanut sack frock, which was adorned with one elegant black rose. Pure genius!

Are tix to the show available to the public?

The Woodstock interpretation is really cute -- it's nice to see that playfulness again ("For Nuts Only" was probably my favorite of all her PR designs).

Anonymous said...

Now we need Camilla to model those dresses :)

Anonymous said...

I love her cocktail dresses. They are stunning!

Anonymous said...

Fabulous! I love both but would pay good money for the yellow one. I love her designs. They're big, theatrical and just the type of design philosophy that I enjoy.

Many designers spend their first years of their career struggling with their own signature-style.
Laura's had hers from day one. She's both lucky and gifted.

IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY there is no point being different just for the sake of being different. A true fashion designer embraces his/her signature-style. It is only once they've embraced it that they can begin to perfect it and iterate it for each collection they work on.

The GREAT designers found success through accepting their style and running with it. In fact, many of them are contacted by clients specifically for their signature-style.

I can't stop thinking about the "for nuts only" dress she designed for the show. What a fabulous coincidence!

I can see Laura designing a fabulous resort collection - fabulous hats and minidresses, and Manolo Blahniks to go with those perfect outfits.

Oh, how FUN!
Thanks, boys!

When I first read that the clothes were to be inspired by Peanuts, I was a bit puzzled. Like, how much can you do with a sweater with a zig-zag? Then I saw Laura's sketches. GORGEOUS! I totally love the Woodstock dress. You WILL show us photos of the finished garments, right?

Thinking of Laura's other 'peanut' dress. Last week I was following a truck that was full of those, "FOR PEANUTS ONLY" packages. Man, I wish I had a camera with me.

Anonymous said...

Love them both! Love Laura.

Hey, here's a place to ask Laura some fashion questions. Check it out.

Girl's got class and talent.

While both dresses are fabulously glamorous, I love love love the Woodstock one. I can't wait to see it finished!

Only witty ol' Laura would choose the two least glamorous characters and make them so fabulous.

I would wear either one in a heartbeat.

Wouldn't it be funny to see the model of the Pigpen dress walk the runway with Frank on a leash ;-) They could just 'Swarovski' his shell a little...

The Pig Pen dress is inspired. I love it.

And lest we forget the "salt and pepper shakers" screencap that T&L posted here in RunGay!! Hilarious!!

I would SO wear a dress based on Woodstock! Phyllis

The Woodstock dress is just so happy making. Though I also like the Pigpen design, I think the Woodstock will translate brilliantly to reality. Two snaps, way up.

I LOVE THE WOODSTOCK DRESS. it's so classic laura, but YELLOW!

Thanks to you guys for always bringing us such a happy light.
Little yellow birds and dressing in feathers!!! What could be better?
From Emily Dickinson:

Hope
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

And who else but somone with a brood of sticky little boys could make something lovely out of Pig Pen!

Bravo (so to speak) Laura, and Tom and Lorenzo for their brave foray into fashion espionage!

Gloria

Both those dresses are gorgeous, LOVE the PigPen interpretation! And I bet the other designers will ignore him.

I totally think she should do both, I'd wear either one in a heartbeat. I mean, if I could afford them or fit into them, or both.
