I want to take a moment to ask a big favor on behalf of my terrific and beloved (and yes, overworked and underpaid) assistant designer at EMc2, Rainer Wolter who finds himself a finalist in a recycled umbrella fashion design competition here.

We would love to see our Rainer published in ID magazine and more importantly, get him to
Paris for some R&R...

At least check out the site and cast your honest vote (...for Rainer!). Voting resets everyday and is open from 9am 'till 11:30 pm.

xoxo,
Emmett

Interesting challenge. Good luck!

Boy, does it pay to be connected! Two worthy candidates, no doubt. But I voted for Emmett's friend.

It was kind of hard to vote- an unimpressive dress vs. an ambitious concept with no final garment?

I cast my vote for Ranier and it looks like he's doing quite well! Beautiful concept and I love the swatches/work he's done so far--can't wait to see the finished project!

Rainer is the clear winner. Voting was a pleasurable no brainer.

Oh my GOD! What are you guys doing with your time?!?! This post about Emmett has been up for like HOURS and I'm DYING to see you just rip Angela and Vincent to shreds!!!

Come on guys, do the rest of the world a favor and quit your day jobs!

JONESING (and possibly on the verge of a psychotic break) in NJ!!

I agree with the poster who said it's hard to vote. It's apples an oranges. If Rainer (are we sure it's not Ranier?) could pull off his concept into an actual dress it would be far better than the "Dusty" dress. But at least Dusty's designer actually made something. I don't know that a vote would be fair unless we're comparing two dresses or two sketches.

I'm not voting until both are finished...a very commendable website though.

I'm sorry, but going for an unfinished sketch just because it looks more complicated really doesn't cut it. Besides, if this gown got made on Project Runway, wouldn't you want it voted out??! It's seriously style-challenged! It's a costumey, Snow-White meets birthday cake outfit, and tacky looking. At least the finished coatdress, simple though it is, makes interesting use of umbrella seams. And it's wearable.
