LBD on QVC

Friday, April 11, 2008 by

Of course we got up early to root for our girl this morning and sent her a text at the last second to wish her luck. And if you didn't get up early to buy that LBD on QVC, you're SOL because that gorgeous little black dress of hers sold out in minutes. Tell QVC you want more! We like it better with the shorter sleeves, we have to say.

Some of her other pieces are still available online at QVC, so if you're looking to take home a little of the Laura Bennett glam, head on over there and type Laura Bennett in the search box. We lovelovelove the cropped jacket and the sequined tunic.

isn't the LBD supposed to come with a brooch?

I love how it is possible for women of any size to look great in that dress. The cropped jacket is my favorite.

Dear TLo:

Despite having worked 14 hours yesterday and getting home at 11:30 last night, I was up with the TVs on before 7, and the computer was on the qui vive, too (or QVC qui vive, one might say). Glad I was swift and decisive!

As I mentioned in comments for the first piece on Laura's QVC appearance, I did buy the LBD, as well as both the white and aqua corset-shaped blouses with the french cuffs. Delivery is supposed to occur next Thursday!

I'm truly hoping these three items will be as fabulous as I hope, as I'm going to be up against Italian and French colleagues at a conference, in meetings and at social events. I want my LBD originals to inspire admiration ... and maybe a bit of envy. ;-) Fingers crossed.

All the best,

NDC

I LOVE the black stretch satin coat. Fabulous. Congrats, Laura!

Is Laura pregnant again???

When she first turned profile, I thought I saw a little bump...

Just curious.

The outfits are just gorgeous though!

We like it better with the shorter sleeves, we have to say.

Actually, that's exactly why I didn't buy it. I didn't care for the higher neckline, either, and although a good tailor could have fixed that, it probably wouldn't be worth the additional cost. But you can't lengthen sleeves!

I loved how the LBD was shown on a slim model as well as a "bigger" model. It looked great on both of them!

I noticed that too. It looked amazing on both models. I hope they bring it back and in different colors, like navy blue, burgundy and dark green.

Aw, thank you guys for the video and info. It was too early for me, but I'll go to their site and order the jacket and the skirt. Congrats, Laura!

After losing a desparate fight with insomnia, I realized suddenly at 5:00 a.m. that Ms. Bennett was on the tube!

I watched, I purchased. Laura looked INCREDIBLE. I noticed that she pulled her hair back for her second stint. It must bug her down, but damn it looks glam that way. She is clearly very comfy in front of the camera as well.

I know I posted this in the previous LB topic, but I'm still fuming over the stupidity OQVC's not ordering a helluva lot more black dresses.
Off to e-mail them re: MORE>

I would love to buy the cropped jacket and the silk/cotton print blouse and skirt, but unfortunately I'm more of a 4X or 5X. You guys have Laura's ear: ask her if she'd consider taking her size range further! I even considered ordering the jacket anyway and seeing if I could skootch the buttons a bit since it's double-breasted ...
Another option would be if she'd sell the patterns, and then I could size it up and make my own. Would she consider a deal with Vogue patterns? That would work for me, and then I could make myself a whole LBD wardrobe!

Neener neener, I scored a LBD. Apparently if they show it as a preview- you can still buy it anyhow. So next time call early!

By the way, I realize in my excitement I forgot my manners!

THANK YOU, TLo, for giving your loyal fans o' fabulosity the advance notice about Laura Bennett's QVC appearance so we could pounce 'n' purchase. I'm thrilled.

You are treasures (but you knew that, and so do we all).

All the best,

I agree with Lilithcat. I would have preferred the longer snug sleeve that can be pushed up to 3/4length. But I bought the dress anyway -- one for me, one for my sister -- and I'm hoping that the family 'curse' of short arms and legs will serve me well for once.

I wonder why the change though. Sleeveless is elegant (for those who can wear it) and long sleeves are elegantfor anyone, but Laura is pretty much the only woman I have ever seen look fabulous in half or short sleeves(I'm taking about her 'Dress like [sic] you mean it' top).

Thrilled to have gotten one!
Hope Laurie

Yes, thank you guys, that helped A LOT! I got up so early my mother thought I was sick. LOL. Anyway, I got the crop jacket in ivory. I can't wait to wear it. It'll make all my friends jealous.

LBD means Little Black Dress? I thought it was short for Laura Bennett Designs.

Loved Laura's point about being able to wear the dress with flats all day and then put on some jewels and heels to change to a night look. I'm seriously motivated to get this dress now. QVC we want more!

I wanted that dress, damn it!! : )
I already sent an email to QVC.

"Sold out, bitches!"

I love you guys. I'll bet you fabulous bitches got your orders in well ahead of all of us bitches.

Lurve the new Laura looks. Is it true theat QVC is running the "Designer Fashion Trunk Show" again tonight @ 10:00pm? I see it's listed again, but only for any hour.

And, steve, I, too, wondered if "LBD" ALSO stood for Laura Bennett Designs.

P.S. Congrats, Laura!

Chloe was on today as well and still has some items available on QVC.com. Really cute!

She so did not deserve to win Season 3. If this is all what she's come up with since, that point is really driven home. Her clothes look like anything you could find in those cheesey catalogs like Metrostyle or Chico's, or even JCPenney!

Anonymous said...

It's boring.

yawningdog said...

I checked in at qvc.com at 7am mountain time and all that was left of her LBD was size XS and 3X.

Bravo, Laura!
Get more next time, QVC!

And colors, please.

By next time she has a show, I should have had my baby and have a clue as to what size I am. In that case, I will be setting the alarm for 5am.

Words cannot express how PO'd I am that that effin dress is sold out!

I was in class (not teaching, learnin...), and I wanted it for my daughter's wedding! WHAAAAAH!

*susan* said...

Wish the cropped jacket was offered in white. Concert attire for the summer season requires a white top, and they are so hard to find. And since I am wishing, higher natural fiber content would be great as well.

Anonymous said...

Zzzzz.... BORING! Those look like K-Mart clothes.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad she's doing well.

Any suggestions if you want the real Laura Lowcut version ?

It would look terrific on my daughter, but the higher neckline on the QVC version looks a little too old for her at 24.

Anonymous said...

I would love if the sleeves were 3/4 length and if the V were somewhere in between the Laura version and the QVC version. You just can't please everyone though.

Hey Laura,
I would love if your wrap sweater came in black or charcoal!!!

Laura is so thin, that what you were seeing was probably her breakfast plus a cup of coffee.

I must say this. Some of the line was nice, but that short sleeve blouse is fug.

Laura just gets better and better every time she's on camera. Good for her, and excellent work!

Happy for Laura's sell-out, but I had found the LBD I needed for a May event last week and, to be honest, I would have pounced on a full-sleeve, 3/4-sleeve or a sleeveless LBD from LB but the above-the-elbow sleeve looked too work-a-day for my needs. But I promise to continue monitoring the output. I really like the premise of the whole line and am keen to hear the reviews on its quality of construction.

Rainwood said...

Like some of the others, I'd have preferred either a full sleeve or sleeveless and maybe just a little deeper V. So I wasn't willing to get up at 4 am and watch QVC for it.

I'm hoping that Laura eventually goes online herself rather than through QVC or at least has a different retail outpost. Having to watch that channel and their focus on placing small orders so they can claim something is sold out within a few minutes is so lame. Laura deserves better and so do we.

Anonymous said...

I have to say this looks better than what she first came out with but I still would not buy this. And I love Laura! $109 for polyester? I don't think so. The stuff Laura makes and wears is fabulous. I don't know if QVC is dumbing down the glam factor, but I don't see Laura wearing these duds. Laura, you should sell online. You clearly have a following. Please don't reduce your style, quality or glam-ness for QVC.

Anonymous said...

She really does look pregnant again.

Anonymous said...

FYI: The little black dress is available again for those of you who missed it the first time.

(I thought Laura looked preggers too)
TLO: what do you know?

Anonymous said...

So what is the story with the last-minute design change of the sleeves? Will the longer sleeved one be offered on QVC as well or is this it? Also wasn't this dress the one that all proceeds would be donated to Dress-For-Success? Why no mention of that now? Or wouldn't QVC go for that? I liked Laura's first version of this little black dress much better.

I'm about to cry. I got my LBD today. It makes me look shapeless and pregnant. I have lost 65lbs in the past year, going from a 18 to a 10. I am not model thin, I have curves...but this didn't follow them at all. The gathering accentuated my pooch, the rest of it being straight gives the illusion I have no waist. The way the top is sewn...it makes me look like I have one boob!

The brooch? Just putting it in, the pin immediately bent!

Nice fabric, it's good there's 'two dresses', but...what is wrong w/ my body that this dress that is supposed to 'look good on everyone' is such a disaster for me?

I just want to cry. I will wait for hubby to come home and getting a second opinion, but it looks like this one crashed and burned for me. :`(

Bree, there is reallly no such thing as a dress that looks good on everyone. If doesn't mean something is wrong with you, or even the dress. If it doesn't fit, send it back. Don't feel bad. Congratulations on the weight loss. That's really something!

Anonymous said...

While the LBD looked chic on the thinner woman with the elbow length sleeves, I thought that the looser floppy sleeve looked like crap on the plus sized gal, something akin to a camp shirt. The skirt length too, was skimpy and only served to make her look dumpy.

As much as I love her, clearly Laura doesn't understand the plus sized body. But then, she's never had to.
