And yes, the models were wearing pieces from her new line, which will be sold at high end stores. More details on that as we get them, but kittens, we've seen some of these pieces up close the last couple of times we visited and they are impeccable.
She sent us some pics a while back when they were works in progress. Trust us, these pics don't do them justice:

I have a friend who used to be a news producer & she used to say, 'they really are all like Ted Baxter.' They all have to be told exactly what to say & ask, or they are completely blank.
Apparently this woman wasn't paying attention when the segment producer briefed her. She also waited too long into the interview (in my opinion) to mention that the clothes the models were wearing were from Laura's new line. As a plug, I would have liked it better if she'd mentioned that earlier so interested people could have paid more attention to the clothes as well as the foundation garments.

Wow, Laura is getting quite comfortable on camera. She seemed a bit nervous when she was on "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style," but she has really mastered the art now. She would be an excellent television host.

Domestic art. I call it "Clothesline Colorwheel". Sometimes I do food art, too
LOVE Laura. LOVE the clothes. BUT, she designed clothes for women with smaller (or no) boobs and who wear size 10 and under. They look fantastic on her (and the same for all of you who will buy them-kudos) but won't work for 75% of the women in the US. I appreciated that at least some of her clothes on QVC had "larger" sizes.

Was I the only one who was taken aback by the undergarment gig? I went flying in there thinking that we were going to see lots of her dresses. I finally figured out that the undergarment thing is tied into Case Clothed. (You have to get up pretty early to fool THIS cornpone!) In any case, any Laura exposure is good Laura exposure. She was so composed.

ReplyDeleteI, too, saw Laura's segment on the TODAY show and was appalled at the way Ms. Co-host handled the interview. She was rude, condescending, uninterested and ill-informed. As usual Laura was a dream and handled the situation with grace and professionalism. She didn't seem at all flummoxed by the woman's treatment of the segment and saved the whole situation with professionalism and absolutely amazing pieces from her collection. I loved everything, but do covet the LBD with the lace overlay. That little number was simply too exquisite for words.

ReplyDeletei have to say, that of all the designers on PR, laura has to be the most thoughtful of them all. she knows exactly what women want and need, as well as how to construct gorgeous timeless garments that feel comfortable and complete.
I really love the collection and I'm surprised by that. I don't know why, either. Everything looks like a classic element every woman should own, but with a nice little kick to them. The silvery white dress is my favorite, but alas and alack, I have far too much boobage to pull it off. Oh well, I will admire from afar and dream of the day someone offers to pay for my plastic surgery so I can wear such a glorious dress.

they usually have a pretty good selection of undergarments in general, and typically an entire section just to foundationwear.
and if you dont like it there, try checking out barenecessities.com. they usually have good sales and "buy 1/get 1" offers.

ReplyDeleteI also love The Town Shop on New York's Upper West Side. You get very personal service in that store. The salespeople spend a great deal of time with each customer making sure you find the undergarments that work for your body. I'm horrified that I spent such a long time wearing certain bras, slips, etc - the new ones they helped me find at The Town Shop (not fancy brands or anything) look 100s better.

ReplyDeleteI liked the clothes from Laura's new line but hated the foundation garments. I'll never understand why mother's have to hide every sign of childbearing and have to look like they never had a child. Plus the stuff looked just as embarrassingly oldfashioned and granny liked as ever. Nothing new despite all that talk about high fashion material. Oh and it's all polyester, if I'd wear that under my new cotton dress, I would sweat no end.
