Laura Bennett and Nick Verreos working the red carpet

"Let MSN's Style Studio hosts Laura Bennett and Nick Verreos teach viewers how to dress for their body type through the glamorous outfits seen on the red carpet."

"Join MSN's Style Studio hosts Laura Bennett and Nick Verreos as they hit the red carpet to find out what the celebrities pack in their pockets and purses."

We love when Nick says to Laura "make sure there's no Britney moment" as they get into the limousine.

And here's Lauren Zalaznick, President of Bravo, wearing Laura Bennett's finale dress.

Watch the videos here and here.

UPDATE:

Read Nick's funny take on the Emmys, his jacket, Bangladeshi boys and girls, and Laura Bennett sewing on the plane here.

"The clients thought it would be a "cute" idea if we both designed--and wore--something that said "Dress Like You Mean It", our tag line on our MSN Style Studio segments. Laura and I debated and went back and forth on what we were going to do. Numerous emails, phone calls and scenarios were passed around, all in an effort to figure out how we were going to "carry this off" without, how shall I say this delicately, ending up on "The Worst Dressed List"."

YET ANOTHER UPDATE:
We never thought we'd see the day, but our gal was Fugged!

ROFL. NOT our fabulous Laura! I love Nick!!

  2. That dress makes me think of "For Nuts Only".

  3. At the end of the "what dress for which body type" segment there is a flash of Laura's grey beaded w/chartruese belt dress...Who Is Wearing That Dress???

Laura is REALLY great at this sort of inteview...someone should hire her to do this at all the major red carpet events. Very professional and charming without being cloying.

  4. Was that Lauren Zalaznick wearing Laura Bennett's finale dress from her Season 3 Runway show?

  5. They are adorable! So much better than all those ET/Access Hollywood/etc clones.

Thank you, Sew What?, for id'ing that dress--it was driving me nuts trying to figure out where I'd seen that before. Here I was thinking it was on someone else at the Oscars or something--a real compliment to Laura's talent.

I though Laura's endorsement of Rebecca Romijn's silhouette interesting: its definitely not the cookie-cutter advice of most style shows, they tell you to emphasize the curves no matter what. Way to think outside the box, LB.

  7. That finale dress of Laura's was my FAVORITE garment of any season. Full stop.

  8. How awesome that she wore Laura's dress! Perhaps Heidi could learn a lesson or two from Ms. Zalaznick.

  9. It's an amazing dress, but I don't think Lauren really pulls it off.

And I do like Laura's dress. It's whimsical and elegant at the same time. I think she pulls it off.

  10. i wish laura had worn that grey finale dress instead of that thing with the writing all over it.

    nick looks good.

  11. They're fabulous. They should have their own show.

  12. Laura's finale dress is gorgeous. It's a shame we didn't get to see it on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Laura and Nick were entertaining and professional at the same time. And looking very glamorous.

Nick does need to learn to say Ralph LAURen instead of Ralph LaurEN. He's a designer for goodness sake!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I love those two. They should definitely have their own show!

  15. Does nobody carry keys?!?!

Oh, Anonymous, thank you; at the risk of sounding bitchy, I was going to post about this as well:

"Nick does need to learn to say Ralph LAURen instead of Ralph LaurEN."

    ReplyDelete
  16. I love Laura! But... I hate that dress!

    ReplyDelete
  17. "Does nobody carry keys?!?!"

Darling, nobody carries keys in LA. They're left with the valet.

Love Laura to bits. That's why her dress saddened me so. To think she spent so much time beading it. Yuk.

She is so glamorous and it was so not.

  18. Laura's a natural on TV, and her friendly personality and sophisticated manner shown through.

  19. The video totally changed my mind. Laura's dress works spectacularly for TV, especially with Nick. Together, they are puurrrrfeecct. Really, are they the two most TV ready grads of PR ever? So comfortable, so smart, so glam (and/or fierce.) Keep on keepin on girls. I look forward to your Oscar show. (Joan who? Ryan who?)

I agree. I liked her dress better on camera than on the red carpet.

  21. i love laura but that dress is an eye sore in the worst possible way. wtf was she thinking???? yikes. a disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I LOVE the fact that Laura's dress is so different from her usual classic style. I LOVE the fact that she was comfortable enough with herself to go out and have fun with the red carpet/style studio job and not try to compete with the stars, as so many commentators do. I LOVE that she and Nick both had matching messages.

I also LOVE Laura's PR finale dress, and glad that her designs were represented at the Emmy's.

    Vanessa

P.S. thanks T&L for clearing up the who wore the dress question

  23. Heidi looks gorgeous!!!

  24. I thought I was crazy! I saw a whiff of what was surely Laura's finale dress... but then I couldn't get the stupid video to cue back up!

    Thanks, Boyz!

Did Lauren buy the dress? Or was it one Big Daddy bought and La Zalaznick borrowed?

  25. PS - If PR had won, Laura's dress would've walked up on the stage!

Yes, yes, yes! Nick and Laura are great, and I would love to watch them dishing over the fashions at Oscar time!

  28. They did a great job! Nick and Laura should have their own show.

  29. Nick is hilarious. He shines on camera.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Are the video clips available elsewhere? For some reason they either aren't loading, or my computer has decided to be in a snit and won't cooperate.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Loved it. A breath of fresh air on the red carpet.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love Laura's finale dress, but it doesn't really "go" on Lauren. With her hair, something black and glittery (so Laura!) would have been better.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I LOVE that Laura's finale dress was worn by Bravo's Pres! (Yes Heidi, take a lesson!)
And Laura & Nick as a TV duo would be awesome - someone, get them a show!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Obviously Laura failed because she ended up on the "Worst Dressed List" at GO FUG YOURSELF.

    ReplyDelete
  35. How stupid of MSN for making them put the logo on their clothes. How did they think they could do that and not have it look bad. I can't think of any way.

And to tell them it had to be visibily noticeable? They were both screwed from the beginning.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh come now, just by virtue of the fact that Laura's dress -- whether you love it or hate it -- has people talking about what fashion should be, she has succeeded. Magnificently! I think it was just a phenomenally witty and intelligent way to make literal what everyone else there was doing metaphorically (except maybe Simon Cowell or Elizabeth Perkins).

    ReplyDelete
  37. OHMYGOD NOT MY LAURA!!!

So cool that my favorite girls mentioned my favorite boys in the post!!! Fabulous!!!

  38. Fabulous Laura can't be fugged. That's just wrong! : - )

    ReplyDelete
  39. "We never thought we'd see the day, but our gal was Fugged!"

I know, right? Sad, sad day!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh no, now everyone's backpedaling about "Well, maybe since she HAD to put the words somewhere, she decided to go all out in a sort of 'screw you' response..."

Oh PLEASE! People will do anything to defend it, huh? (It's different if you actually like it, I'm talking about those who hated the dress but needed to find excuses to glorify Bad Mommy) I do love the dresses she designs, but I think this one could have been so much better. Excuses or not, I don't care. It could have looked better, yes, even with the stupid words on it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It grieves me to say it, but Laura deserved to be fugged for this dress.

Much as I love her, it was atrocious. If she'd had time or extra $$$ to have the beading done, she could have done the sentences as vertical stripes on a fit and flare type dress with the letters very small on the bodice and waist, graduating larger and larger toward the full skirt. You'd not have known that the sentences were anything but mosaic stripes until you saw them turning into letters then into sentences at the bottom of the dress.

That would have been befitting our clever girl.

  42. I can't believe MSN Style Studio asked them to do this. How can a site about FASHION and STYLE think that this is OK? It's HIDEOUS!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just cannot get enough of Laura Bennett. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love them both, but this was a stupid idea. I give them credit for trying.

    ReplyDelete
  45. They were so cute, my two favorite contestants of PR ever, (along with Robert, Kane, and Andrae). Thanks guys for the clips and for springing to Laura's defense on fugged! But that shirt was fugly.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I thought Laura's shirt was cute in a way that can only be cute on her. I love the Fug girls and found their entry on Laura's outfit hilarious. Thank goodness they included the Gay-Boy defense.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The conception was stupid. The writing was silly and obnoxious. It was wrong on so many levels.

Sorry, boys, but Laura deserved to be FUGGED for this wearing this mess of a dress. It reeked of ass.

    Better luck next time!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not only was she fugged, she was deemed Worst Dressed by Queer Eye's Carson Kressly.

As much as I love Laura, though, I can't fault Carson and the Fug Girls. The top was ass.

as the message I left for Nick said, if she is an hourglass , I am Big f*cking Ben.

  51. Though she was fugged, that commentary was relatively nice.
    Those bitches are HARSH!
    Lovely mention of T-LO!

    Emma P.

Please cubed, T-LO! Let us know how La Laura really felt about having to wear the top. Though I get the impression her asking you what you "really" thought about it speaks volumes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. She's Laura Bennett and she's fabulous! She makes no mistakes. She's looked divine!! Hair and makeup were beautiful!!!

Love her! Thought she was FAB on the red carpet. Thought Nick was great too!

Lauren Zalaznick looked great in Laura's dress! That dress was FAB on the red carpet.

Thanks for all these pics -- they were fab!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I guess there is hope for us mere mortals if even La Bennett can make an occasional misstep. Well, okay, ONE misstep.

    ReplyDelete
  54. are we going to get some more response from TLO? Or LB herself?

    ReplyDelete
  55. True. Even Laura Bennett is human. She makes mistakes. Anyone can be a fashion disaster. That dress was fugly and stupid. It is what it is. Hopefully Laura will learn something from this mess and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  56. That body has squeezed out six kids. SIX! And she has a better figure than I did in college. Perhaps wearing stilletos 24/7 is the secret...

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't see what the big tragedy is over the top.

Like MANY outfits, a lot of it is who exactly is wearing it: Is the woman wearing the clothes or are the clothes wearing the woman.

Laura has a strong, confident personality, and so she pulled it off: She was wearing the clothes - not the other way around.

I mean really, all these dumb awards shows have gotten so sanitized and boring because everyone is so afraid of being Riverized. But this year, that bitch was sent back to Madame Tussaud, so everyone should have felt free to wear what they feel.

  58. While some are blaming Laura for the dress, I blame the people at MSN for thinking it would be "cute" to add the slogan on clothing at a red carpet event. It isn't cute it's tacky and I know Laura and Nick were having PR flashbacks and probably just glad they didn't have to make the dress out items found on the street.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Love Laura. Hate hate the dress.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh, lighten up, it's just fashion!
A dress like this is a breath of fresh air amidst all the Zoe-bots. It says she doesn't take these events - or herself - too seriously. I wish more people had the ovaries to do this.
I can't believe the Fug girls, of all people, are clutching their pearls and saying it smacks of self-promotion... what on earth are award shows FOR if not self-promotion? And what's wrong with promoting your gig with a little wit and irony, instead of just trying to be the prettiest girl in the room like every other celebrity drone? LB looks red-carpet ready pretty much every day of her life. I'm delighted that she used this chance to take a risk instead of just trying to be unobjectionably glamorous.

    ReplyDelete
  61. yeah, true-ish. I'm just glad she was working the red carpet for MSN and not McDonald's:

    YOU DESERVE A BREAK TODAY

  62. Well said, anon 2:45pm .I prefer risk over unobjectionable any day of the week.

  63. Zoe-bots, OMG!
Everyone in LA tries to look like Rachel Zoe or styled by her!
Why the hell would anyone want to look like a Zonked out '70's Bratz doll!

  64. Nick did a much better job incorporating the writing in his design. His jacket was interesting. Laura's approach was way too literal and simplistic. The end result was FUG and just plain silly.

  70. OH! Finally redeemed! The first red carpet clip I saw I was all "Is that Laura?" And then our power went out and I missed the whole damn show. THEN I saw the pixelated "special guest star" clip from Tim's show and was all "Is THAT Laura?" And then I needed a cocktail because all I could see were misty visages of Laura Bennett. I feel SO VINDICATED, and I'm sorry it took the Fug Girls to vindicate me, but of course I then dashed right over here, darlings.

Six kids. That body. Someone take this martini and brie away from me immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I LOVE Nick, but he needs to lose the Ed Grimley hair. And that pic you posted of the woman from Bravo wearing Laura's dress makes her look like a man in drag. Laura should have worn her own dress! I saw that dress when the winning designs were on tour, and it is SPECTACULAR close-up. (Sigh)
