Tim Gunn's Guide to Style Preview

Darlings, Bravo has a preview of Tim Gunn's new show and there's crying involved!

Can we just say that Veronica Webb is beyond fabulous?

There's been some grumbling in our ear about this show being like every other makeover show out there and from what little we saw here, this one seems to have more of an educational approach to it than most. Oh sure, Stacy and Clinton tend to know what they're talking about, but they're a little more dictatorial than this Dynamic Duo and Tim can't help but lapse into teacher mode, which is a very good thing.

We're really looking forward to this, not just because it looks like fun but because we'll be blogging the show right here on Project: RunGay.

So once again, poodles, Watch What Happens starting September 6th.

Your Style. Tim's Rules. There's only one man that any woman would welcome into her closet...Tim Gunn. And he's diving into closets everywhere in the one-hour, eight-episode series "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" premiering on Thursday, September 6 at 10 PM ET/PT. With tough-love, guidance, and former model and fashion accomplice Veronica Webb at his side, Gunn leads fashion-challenged women on an emotional journey to unearth their personal style. From wardrobe essentials, tips on how to shop, to finding the right fit, Gunn uses advice from his book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality Taste and Style, to arm each woman with the basics to own her look and make it polished and stunning.

In each episode of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style," Gunn uses his unmatched counseling skills, to turn the fashion weary into polished individuals. While Gunn focuses on the big picture of each subject's transformation, Webb guides the women through shopping the Tim Gunn way, by steering their choices and listening to their concerns and offering solutions. The series utilizes several tools to help a diverse set of women make themselves over, including a list of various "fashion icons" the subjects pick from to determine who inspires their style – be it Jackie O., Angelina Jolie or Sarah Jessica Parker. Then, when building their signature looks, the subjects use Gunn's "essential shopping list," which includes 10 basic pieces that no closet should be without. Armed with Gunn's rules, each makeover subject is encouraged to get a great pair of jeans, a trying task for any woman. After the fashion is taken care of, Gunn calls on his friends and colleagues to put the finishing touches on the women, including hair and make-up.

On BravoTV.com, users will be able to further utilize the style knowledge gained from "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" with an interactive "dress up" game and a "get this look" feature. Additionally, fans can access more of Gunn in his blog, exclusive fashion tips, "After Tim" Q&As with makeover subjects, photo diaries and much more on the mobile web (WAP site). Gunn aficionados can also join the Tim Gunn SMS Fan Club, which will offer them exclusive tips, downloadable content, and more.
    Here's the page.

    Hope that helps!

  7. I am so sad that I will miss the show! Being down in South America for the time being deprives me of keeping current with Project Runway and their spin-offs... I need my Bravo!!! The fews Bravo shows that get shown on cable here are at least 2-3 seasons old!! Help!!

  8. Awww, it's so nice to hear Tim's voice again. Tim can be my fashion therapist any day. I certainly need some help.

Veronica Webb is one of the most notable names of a very small group of women who were supermodels.

  12. I love going through my closet and getting rid of things. I wouldn't mind Tim helping me with that.:)

  13. I totally day dream about Tim coming into my house..trashing my clothes, and sending me on a shopping spree in NYC. I know my garbage can would be full of flip flops and tank tops!

  14. I'd love to be pampered by one of those shows. You know, to be able to get head-to-toe treatment sounds so appealing to me right now! I have a seven month old, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm ever going to get my pre-pregnancy body back. I think it is gone forever. So, I'd just like to learn to make the most of me!

  15. for sure i will be watching since you boys will be involved.

    cant wait!

if tim came to my house i would have nothing left in my closet.

  16. I think I am safe from the arrival of Tim Gunn out here in Utah.

I am pretty sure that my "dog clothes" would leave him speechless.

  17. Here's the picture of the billboard I promised:

It'll be the one on the bottom.

There was another T&L billboard in the same area, but I'm happy with this picture. The photo was taken from my cell phone while my Dad was driving a Ford pickup truck.

  20. Hahahahaha. "...without them falling out on the table." Oh, how I love Tim!

  21. Okay, I feel MUCH more hopeful about this show after watching that promo. They showed a promo 2 weeks ago that was nothing like that, and it did not inspire confidence. I can breathe a little easier now, because from the looks of the clip, I want to watch that show. I wish Tim Gunn would come to my house and be my "mentor." He is so wonderful.

  22. I looove Veronica...she is one smart cookie! She was planning her post-modeling career long before she actually stopped modeling, working all those connections she'd made.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That looks awesome. I can't wait for September 6th!

Also, anyone else notice the bunny thing in the background at the very end behind Tim when the background goes white? Am I just imagining that? What is it?!

  24. I. CAN'T. WAIT.

    Emma P.

That shot of VW giving an "Amen" snap in reply to Tim's wisdom: "PRICELESS"

  25. Yay!!! I can't wait, for Tim and for gayboy commentary equally.

Thanks for answering my fan mail, too. You boys rock! How do you find the time to do it all?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous 5:11 PM, the drummer bunny's been bothering me since the first promo. It looks evil hovering over Tim like that.

  27. And with any luck Kathy Griffin will find a way to work THIS show into her act the way she did Hey Paula....because let me tell you bitches I saw Miss D List last night and she was fan-fucking-TABULOUS!!!!

  29. I'm really looking forward to Tim Gunn's new show. I'm glad they picked Veronica Webb to be his co-host. I think she will add a little sass to his class.

  30. When I first heard of the show, it did sound a bit like other makeover shows, such as TLC’s What Not to Wear. As you Boys pointed out, I'm glad it will not be a typical makeover show, of which there are already way too many.

  31. I love the fashion therapy approach...it's got the whole "you can give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." thing going for it.

Haven't checked the link, since I'm not at work (where the fast computer resides). But I saw that on the TV the other week and laughed so hard I got Dr. Pepper allllll over the place.

  33. I'm not sure I want to see Tim guiding a normal yet fashion-challenged person. I'd rather see him making the PR designers pee in their pants from fear.

  34. I love Tim Gunn! I can't wait!!

  35. I'd watch this show for Tim Gunn's critiques alone.

  36. If you Boys are planning on blogging about the show I'm definitely watching it.

  37. Tim Gunn is my hero. I wish he could teach me how to dress.

  38. Thank you for the video, Boys! Veronica is fabulous.

  39. Tim Gunn is the ultimate mensch. I adore him.

  40. I can't wait! Are they doing men's?

  41. Betseyl: Tim Gunn is my hero. I wish he could teach me how to dress.

If you haven't already, BUY THE BOOK. As you read it, you'll hear Tim's voice in your ear. Word for word.

Read the book as your sort your closet, and all will be well. Okay, it won't be as much fun as doing it with Tim at your side (though I don't think I'll miss what would have been screams of horror). But you can pretend!

  42. This preview gave me a much better idea of what the show will be like. I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am so confused about why the drummer bunny is there! Can someone please explain its significance?

    ReplyDelete
  44. oh that's marvelous. BUT WAIT!!!!

how come Miss Cleavage can't hang half out the neck of her dress when Miss Laura is open to her waist in virtually everything she wears?

Does Tim not think Miss Laura is fabulous?? Oh dear . . .
