The sweatband on the wrist is what makes it for me.
But truly; is it really THAT much more rediculous than what Santino did? His dress was basically the same idea as Lupe's, but done by someone with OCD & delusions of grandeur. The difference was in Lupe's tragic color choice of Shit Brown, (as opposed to Santino's choice of match your eye color blue. Wrong again: To match a Hilton sister's eyes it should be red).
The only real difference between Santino's shit & Lupe's shit is the way it was sold by the 'designer'. He sold his as being the non-stinking variety, and the judges bought it.
I actually prefer this to Santino's frayed clunky mess. I agree that Lupe blew it on the awful color and the tacky styling. I think Lupe's personality put Nicky off. Lupe didn't kiss her ass like Santino did.
I actually liked the fabric, except in black not brown, and the underlying idea of the dress. If she'd just taken the "green socks" and other crap off it and lost the one red glove (WTF) it might have been halfway decent.
I love Lupe. I am not crazy about this dress, but I think the design asthetic in all of her work is very similar to Santino's. He has been mostly praised while she has been criticized, I think it has a lot to do with what is expected of male and female designers. It is far worse to flat out copy (Marla ) than to come up with an original idea (even an odd one) . The judges are not consistant, in the last challenge ugly trumped boring. SS
Lupe and Angela should go into business together: The Wickety-Whack Sisters.
It at least has a relatively sleek look from the front--but then she adds a bustle? Maybe she just couldn't resist finding a way to make use of Daniel V's discarded brown fabric.
I may be the only one, but I thought Marla's dress was much fuglier, and given the whole "you copied the damn thing verbatim from the Chloe dress" scandal, I really don't get why Lupe was booted instead of Marla.
I agree with those who Marla shoulda been booted this week. I rather like Lupe's aesthetic, and I love the textured fabric on this dress; Too bad she chose such an ugly color and added so much junk to it, losing the sleekness.
Plus, if Marla were gone, Lupe and Diana might have worked together in the next challenge, and the idea of that excites me.
I really think the bodice of this dress could have worked if she would have toned everything else down. One good thing about Lupe's work, even if it is horrible, it's never boring to look at.
I really wish Lupe had stayed over Marla, just because A) I think she's more intresting (and knows more about construction) and B) COME ON Marla, you copied the damn chloe dress.
Once again we see the judges shifting goal posts. How does Marla stay in when she clearly copied Nicky's dress line for line out of the dossier given to the designers? Lupe's choice of colors and the arm band are a bit off, but, I could see Nicky Hilton in the dress. Now I am not slandering Nicky Hilton, but I can see her out at a club with the Heatherette team in Lupe's outfit and thinking she was hot somewhere slumming in the East Village!
Did someone say a webcast was available of these two style and fashion mavens watching episodes of PR ? I would love to see this. I'd pay good money to see this. The world would love to see this.
You two teabaggers want to make some extra money ?
There are some designers whose work would dovetail perfectly. Austin and Laura would create a good line together, just for a start.
Then we have the other side of the coin.
As they both have a habit of doing the opposite of Chanel's dictate ("Never add, only remove") I'd like to see Lupe and Santino set up shop together. I'd add in Angela, but there were a couple of outfits where she demonstrated that she could do things other than fleurchons and bubble skirts--maybe she could just visit their studio every other Saturday or something. (Vincent, on the other hand, would fit in great.)
I agree, 'nuff said.
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Sweet Jeebus!!!
ReplyDeleteIn the words MK, "what was she thinking?"
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing her body of work on the show, it almost makes me wonder how Loopy even got ON the show.
ReplyDeletekath
Lupe! That never gets old. LOL
ReplyDeleteEven the model knows it's over. She tried to work it on the runway, but she couldn't figure out how. Who can blame her?!
Later Lupe!
Nancy

ReplyDeleteIt looks like something Che Guevara's daughter would wear to a military prom.
ReplyDeleteViva la Revolucion!

ReplyDeleteI have to admit...I really like the arm warmer that Lupe puts on her designs. Aside from that, it's pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteI just love you guys! I think you have a webcast of you when you are watching these episodes. It's gotta be classic!
ReplyDeleteI love Lupe.

I'm sorry, but all of that fabric coming out of the poor model's backside looks like either a tail (if I'm being polite) or a turd (if I'm not).
ReplyDeleteThe "train" looks like she just lumped some fabric together and ran it under the sewing machine at random points. Blindfolded.
ReplyDeleteI may be the only one, but I thought Marla's dress was much fuglier, and given the whole "you copied the damn thing verbatim from the Chloe dress" scandal, I really don't get why Lupe was booted instead of Marla.
ReplyDeleteFrom the stills, the front is better than it looked on the DVD. The back is, uh, worse. Nasty horrible mentally ill worse.

The only good thing about Lupe is that she gets HAMMERED in the reunion show. I can't wait for the boys to get to that little nugget of classicness
ReplyDeleteOh, happy day!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't stand her clothes or her personality.
Next, the big Z!
It's hard to believe that there could have been a garment worse than Santino's in this challenge, but there you are.
ReplyDeleteHasta Loopy Lupe
Gd, this was such a train wreck, for so many different reasons...but you seemed to have captured them all.
ReplyDeleteI could never figure out what kind of party you would wear this to.
ReplyDeleteBrianB
That thing is ugly!! Who the hell would wear that to a party? A costume party, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha! That really says it all!
ReplyDeleteI really think the bodice of this dress could have worked if she would have toned everything else down. One good thing about Lupe's work, even if it is horrible, it's never boring to look at.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is her fixation with the Allen Iverson arm sleeves for her models?!?!?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of hoops, where's bigassbelle? Hey girl, did you see we just upset A&M? Yyyyyyeah!
I really wish Lupe had stayed over Marla, just because A) I think she's more intresting (and knows more about construction) and B) COME ON Marla, you copied the damn chloe dress.
ReplyDeleteStill, though... Lupe!
I find it mind boggling that she even made it on to the show. I didn't see one redeeming garment the whole time.
ReplyDeleteOnce again we see the judges shifting goal posts.

LOL. I love you boys! I hated this outfit.
ReplyDeleteShe will have a great future designing puppet costumes.
Lupe sure is a lot cuter than Santino.
ReplyDelete-- desertwind
Oh! I just noticed Emmett's EMC2 shop-online ad.
ReplyDeletegood model performance!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou can see she walking with her hair flying.
but the dress...
i am sorry, did marla deserve to be in again?
Couldn't have said it better myself.
ReplyDeleteDid someone say a webcast was available of these two style and fashion mavens watching episodes of PR ? I would love to see this. I'd pay good money to see this.
ReplyDeleteThe world would love to see this.

That dress is "fugly" embodied into something tangible...

The name of the line? Whackity-whack.
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLupe! Ah, we hardly knew ye.... not that we wanted to!
profp
What a vomitous mess. Did it sprout tumors?
ReplyDeleteGod that garment is fucking ugly.
ReplyDeleteThis is a hilarious blog. Jesus! What *WAS* she thinking?!?!
ReplyDeleteIt Lupe!!! I dehinately agree with.
