Fabulous Mommy

"How’d you meet your husband, Peter Shelton?

At a dinner party. I must have been the hot babe in the room at the ripe old age of 32 or something."

Read the NYMAG interview here.

  1. 5! boys Aye! Yayeyaye! Talk about testosterone overload. Still, I wouldn't hate being her. She gets to live down in the garment district but high enough up that she doesn't have to smell it!

  2. Fabulous! I love her approach to family and kids.

    Thanks, guys.

  3. God, I love how she owns her personality and doesn't blame her bullshit on editing.

Every time I read something about her, I think more and more how cool it would be to be her friend.

    She is just FIERCE.

  4. Thanks for this article!

Did you see the article about the Peanut also on NY Magazine -- looks like there is an internal investigation about the Peanut outsourcing his sewing. (!)

I agree 100%. LOVE her, and thank your for the link, PRGayboys.

  6. completely, totally fantastic.

    fabulous.

    i love her.

  7. Anonymous (Anne) and toddny already said just what I was thinking when I read this. She is just unapologetically who she is, and for that, I love her.

  8. I love that she let a cocktail party crowd name her son Truman.

    As for the new baby?
"We haven’t discussed a name yet, but apparently the Internet will take care of that."

Yay! Let's make with the baby names already.

  9. I vote for Tim or Gunn as a name. Manville would also be great, given this board.

  10. Laura rules the roost! Tart & Tangy, Bright & Brilliant, her elan is wide and far reaching! I hope she grinds TALP into stinky peanut dust she sprinkles on the roses in her penthouse garden.

PS: "Roark" would be a fabulous baby name. After Howard Roark from Ayn Rand's THE FOUNTAINHEAD. Both parents are architects and Laura bears an excellent, intellectual resemblance to Dominique Francon, Roark's lover/tormentor.

  11. That's my girl.

  12. Gunn Bennett- I love it!!!

Laura is what Laura is- and she could give a rats ass about anyone else's opinion- which is one of the many reasons I adore her!

  13. Whoever said name the baby Roark was brilliant. I love the movie The Fountainhead. Patricia Neal was amazing, she sweeps into the party in a total Laura dress and the hunky architect GARY COOPER falls in love with her. Oh it was a hot movie, even in black and white, the movie The Fountainhead was sizzling.

  14. Since when did we become a society where people have to live their lives based on what others think, aren't we supposed to live our lives not for what people think, but for ourselves and our love ones. Laura is being real. I would never think of living life for others thoughts. Good for Laura.

  15. And you know Jeffrey/Geoffrey is OUT as a name for the new baby.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, if international health studies are correct, Bad Mommy better get ready for her gay son's birth and start stockpiling lavendar onesies.

I love the way she acknowledges how she is perceived and doesn't flinch or try to make excuses.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, please, there can be only one name for the baby . . .

    TIM!!!

  18. Still haven't figured out the name Peik...

  20. How rich is it that naming their baby was a cocktail party game? And Truman!! The only thing more perfect would be if the party was at the Algonquin.

I say it is time for a "name Laura's baby contest."

Since they clearly are fond of Skandinavian names I'm going to suggest Gunnar. In honor of you know who.

Or Anton. To go with Cleo.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Actually, Trixie, now that you mention it, I think Algonquin would be the perfect name.

Whenever Laura speaks I love her more and more! I just love how practical she is; Why bother emotionally investing in naming your baby when "the baby" works just as well?

  22. Laura makes no excuses. Her attitude is perfect. Her approach to life is laudable. Can't help but love this woman.

  23. eric3k -- I like the algonquin suggestion. they could always call him quin if they didn't want to seem too bohemian. After all, they wouldn't want to shock their social set too much: "did you hear the news? the bennet-sheltons have gone ethnic!!!"

Laura's unobsessive attitude about kids reminds me of george carlin's "your children are overrated" routine -- as well as one of my favorite headlines from the onion: "your child's health: is it really that important?" that one always makes me laugh.

  24. Love Laura!

BTW, I heard someone say her son's name is pronounced Pike but spelled Piek. I wonder if it's a take on the famous architect Pei?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Geez, Laura is fabulous and all, but she looks awfully thin in this picture. (Not that she's usually a big fat tub of lard, but you know.) Her sternum is going to break out of her chest one day and take over the world.

    But, yay for baby!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm liking Laura more and more

    BUT

Mon Dieu! Whoever photoshopped this pic needs to be shot! It is one of the most hideous things done since they stuck Oprah's head on someone else's body!

And I thought Kayne's and Robert's photos were a bit over the top.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In the bonus video when looking at a picture of her kids with Uli, Laura pronounces the name as Pake.
I found it funny when she also pointed to one of them and said "There's the bad one, in the batman T-shirt."

  28. i would love to see laura maneuvering d'agostinos with her 5 boys with her 6th bundt in the oven. MARCH!
i vote BUNDT for the little nipper-to-be's name.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Laura's son, will probably be a redhead, and with all those older brothers, most likely GAY. So I think she should go ahead and name him Kayne and just get it over with.

    ReplyDelete
  30. She never ceases to amaze me with all that she does.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Queen Mommy bugged my ass at first, but now I LOVE her. She's not uppity, she's straightforward. And I suspect she's pretty damn loyal. GO LAURA!

    ReplyDelete
  32. ok, i don't get it, poorly fitting shoes, un-flattering pose, 20lbs underweight.....
She may be fashionable, but not in my book

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why don't we all try to figure out another television "home" for Laura.
How about if she joins the gang on "Queer Eye"?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love the names Pate or Nicoli for a boy! Congratulations to Laura and her family!

  35. Peik's finnish for paul :-)
