Four Gayboys Four

What happens when four gayboys get together to look at old dresses? Pictures get taken and posted on the internet, that's what!

A couple weekends ago, Emmett called us and said he was coming into Philly that day with his gorgeous boyfriend to do some thrift store browsing. We of course dropped our plans of laying around and doing nothing to spend the day with them.

After getting them lost by giving them bad directions to our place, Emmett and Pierre showed up and we immediately made them pose for a picture in our living room:

How cute are they?

Those bitches said we would all go out to lunch but then they stopped and got cheese steaks on the the way. We were starving by the time they showed up so we forced them to watch us eat and yes, to pose for more pictures.

Then, it was off to the thrift stores to make fun of old dresses!

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. That must have been one gigantic bridesmaid because this dress went straight to Emmett's ankles.

Peach is not your color, poodle.

Lorenzo favors the Liza look, while Pierre is working a Laura Ashley early '90s vibe.

Prom picture. The only thing that's missing is a cheap corsage on Tom and a fresh pack of condoms in Emmett's pocket.

Look for Emmett's Tricia Nixon-inspired line in Spring 2008!

There were other pictures taken but we figure we can get a couple grand out of Emmett if we promise not to post them. Fun was had by all!

ROFL.

Love the post, Boys!

Hehehehe...those dresses remind me of ones I saw at an unusual yard sale I attended here in town.

It was a backyard sale, of course, because it was in a VERY affluent neighborhood...the seller had been a cabaret/nightclub singer when she was younger, and she was selling gowns that she had worn during her long career. The styles spanned 1940's through the early 1980's. The ones from the 1970's looked like Lanz nightgowns on acid.

I bought a couple of hand beaded numbers for $5 each.

Fabulous!

Hilarious. You guys rock, and Emmett has the BEST sense of humor. I love that. And to think Pierre had a ringside seat to all the fabulosity! He must be terrific too. He has great taste in men, right?

LOL. I don't know how you guys manage to take pictures of the designers and stylists (Anthony's and Rene's ass, Andrea posing on top of the car) like that. They're freaking hilarious!!

I love going to thrift stores. I always find interesting stuff to buy.
Very funny post, Boys!

You girls look fabulous!
I love yard sales, thrift stores, etc. You can find some pretty nice things sometimes for not very much money.

LOL! Love the pictures, especially the "prom" moment....

I wish you two graced my prom with your presence! Talk about a murmur going through the room on an Oklahoma prom night....:)
Just fabulous!

Oh god, you had to bring up Laura Ashley. I think I owned that dress, or some variation thereof. And I had nicely repressed the memory till you guys brought it up! :-D

Thanks for sharing these pictures, darlings.

I love Emmett's sense of humor. Funny they never showed that on the show, isn't it?

Oh. Scary. I actually wore the last dress (the icky green one Emmett is holding) when I was forced to be my 17-year-old 6-months-pregnant sister's bridesmaid back in 1969.

I wish I was kidding. The family friend who did my hair put it up in a horrible bouffant.

It's a good thing that particular "marriage" ended quickly in divorce. All the photos were destroyed so there is no evidence of my torture. Except what is in my mind.

My interest in fashion design began with garage sales and thrift stores . Back then you could get great stuff from the 40's , 50's, and 60's CHEAP. It looks like you had fun. Nice arms Lorenzo!

I know, right? I love them. I still buy a lot of my clothes at vintage stores. The problem is that some of them are getting so expensive.

Fab post, bitches!

It's not a rocking chair. We bought it a - believe it or not - thrift store.

snf in va: I almost hate you, lol. What a sale to stumble across!

Um, where else does one shop? My best chunks of fabrics are "what were you thinking???" prom and bridesmaid dresses. Fabric good, style bad. (I lucked out when one store was so overstocked they put every piece of clothing at $1. EVEN WEDDING GOWNS. I grabbed three, along with bags of other stuff. Jeez, the beads alone are worth more.)

All my favorite furniture has come to me via thrift stores--not to mention tons of vintage patterns. And some of those luck-o-the-draw yard sales like snf ran across.

There's a vanload of us on this blog that need to meet up and go SHOPPING!!!

Shame on Bravo for not showing us Emmett's hilarity (he couldn't have kept it hidden THAT well)--and thank you T&L for encouraging it!

That mint green dress looks just like the dress my grandmother wore to my brother's bar mitzvah (in 1972).

Looking at that second picture, I have to ask: how much time does Lorenzo spend at the gym? He's a veritable Popeye the sailor man.

Isn't that retrospect? I think I remember pawing through those dresses a time or two, and yes, posing for silly pictures.

Tricia Nixon! Oh, my God!

But. . . how do you know he didn't have a fresh pack of condoms in his pocket?

Can you give your faithful (by that I mean me) a little dirt on the painting of Afros behind Emmett? I love it. It's hypnotic.
PS:What's that smell?
THOSE DRESSES!

I had that mint green dress in a lovely floral in the seventies (I was 12 and I loved it). Hilarious post!!!

OMG, too freaking funny! What is it with thrift shops and peach colored dresses? It must be where they go to die. The peach dress boneyard.

Makes me want to go look at old dresses with all of you. And Pierre is to die for.

Emmett's contribution to PR2 was good stuff, at least for me. The glimpse he provided into his artistic mindset, that of being adamant about having a concept down before execution, was fun grist for the mind mill. Basically in letting us know about his process he took a stand about theory (something in line with Aristotelian Causes) and provided a perfect practical and reasoned counterpoint to Santino's more ad hoc method of discovering a vision as he went along. Not that anything was settled all said in the exploration of the contrast but the interplay spoke to a depth one would probably never expect to find in a "reality t.v. gameshow".

Thanks EM and friends!

Was Emmett really there? Just looking at these photo's makes me wonder if you photo shopped his head on to the pictures? Look at the last few shots - he is picture perfect! Heavy sigh. I'd love me some Em's

I'm leaning toward the peach dress pic--I can almost hear the orchestra tuning up for "I Feel Pretty." But he always has such a delightful sparkle in his eye.

On the vintage fabric front, I found a ni-i-i-ice maxi skirt in purple paisley today. For a dollah! (Well, *I* like the fabric. I can be seduced by paisley almost every time.) And oodles of buttons, none newer than 1970, most from 1940-60, cheap, cheap, cheap. I may be unemployed, but there is always money for fabric and costuming books. (Let's not mention the Bookman's bill, shall we?)

All Emmett was missing with the Tricia Nixon dress was a Marlo Thomas (That Girl era) wig.

Hilarious post, girls.

Once again - how often do you pinch yourselves???? Your lives have changed fundamentally because you decided to put your wit on the net. Brava, mi bambinas!

Have to say --- the Tricia Nixon line? Ummmm - yeah.... that was my prom dress .... and my sister's bridesmaid dresses .... and we wore them in Madrigal singers .... and my trampy other sister cut hers off to a micro-mini that didn't let her sit down without showing her bits to anyone who cared to look.

Ahhhhhhhhh - family memories! Thanks for sharing!
