Get a Piece of Rami!

Kittens, if you've been holding out for a Kashou, now's your chance. From HSN:

"Sophisticated, feminine and best of all, flattering. This Grecian Goddess-style dress from Rami Kashou for SCOOP can be worn by all ages and all body types. Black, lime, teal or wine." HSN Price: $280.00.

Sharp-eyed PRGals will recognize that this dress is a slightly toned down version of one from his Bryant Park show:

  1. The color is gorgeous and the hemline is infinitely more attractive.

  2. I think it looks like a nightgown!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Ok, that is fugalicious. The lime is nasty and it looks like a tent.

Bad Rami, please go back to your corner and drape something

    ReplyDelete
  4. ugh! I can't imagine this looking any better on a real woman when it doesn't even look good on a stick - thin model!! Talk about tenting - any woman above a size 2 in this dress would either look like a circus tent or a refugee from the nearest trailer park!!!

  5. Um, no, thank you.

    That is just awful.

    ReplyDelete
  6. $280 is ridiculous. And weren't they not allowed to sell the designs from their final collection?

    ReplyDelete
  7. In the 1960's women used to wear house dresses much like this. They were shapeless and were worn for slouching or cleaning up around the house. We also called them muu muus. That's what this reminds me of. Funny thing --make it in silk, put a larger cap sleeve on it, and call it couture.

  8. Looks like a beach coverup to me - does it come in terrycloth?

    ReplyDelete
  9. kanani, I was thinking the same thing about this looking like a housedress.

And I'd like to speak for my fellow pear shapes out there and say this would NOT look good on a wide-hipped woman!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm with Bill - it looks like a cover up to toss on at the beach. Big pass. I'd rather save my pennies for Emmett's new collection (I got a preview yesterday!)

    ReplyDelete
  11. I would not pay $28 for it, much less $280. It looks like a celery stalk on steroids.

  12. Those sleeves are nothing short of awful. If it was sleeveless and two inches shorter I'd be willing to pay $50 for it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oy.

What's going on with the back/ribs? It's making the model look she's concealing a bodybuilder's torso.

If PBS had ever done a makeover on Julia Child, they would have put her in this housedress.

  14. I'm sure HSN would oblige the world and have it made in periwinkle blue with little pink flowers or for the poolside version, giant hibiscus.

Tiki torches are available with the poolside version.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I kinda like the pale green one. It looks like spring. :-) The new hemline is a great improvement.

  16. Add some hot rollers and jelly jar full of gin, and it's a dead ringer for my Mom's nightgown.

    ReplyDelete
  17. tom in kc, you're killin' me!

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is some serious ugly. My Italian grandmother, who was the size of a battleship, used to wear something similar around the house. She would not, however, be caught dead in public in it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "a jelly jar full of gin" -- oh, my God! Too funny. Maybe that's what it takes to get someone to drop $280 for a yard and half of polyester.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think it's a bit expensive for what you're getting, aside from getting a Rami Kashou "original."

    ReplyDelete
  21. Quite frankly, I like the runway version better, hemline and all.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's a terrible picture of the dress. HSN should improve the quality of those pictures. They don't even have a back shot. Watch the video and you'll see that the back is quite intricate.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It looks like something from one of those ads you see in the back of the magazines they insert with your Saturday newspaper. Right next to the ads for tulip bulbs, back braces and ceramic figurines. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Kanani, you took the words right out of my mouth - Muu-Muu indeed! I would be holding out for the tiki torches - but only on "dim" were I wearing this big tent.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It's a cute dress, but it needs a belt or something otherwise it just hangs like a night gown.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think its $100 pretty(paying for the name) but definately NOT $280 pretty.

And I LOVE green but that lime green is hideous.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm disappointed. I was expecting a lot more, something more unique since he's only selling one dress.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What Bill said.
    x2.

Tom in KC, you're steadily inching your way into the Bill Hilarity Hall of Fame !

I'm disappointed, too, Todd. I was expecting much more uniqueness from Rami. Not rehashes of a half successful runway look. $280? On HSN?
    Good luck w/ that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. They're charging $280 for that??? Kee-rist, the fabric wholesales for $2 per yard! It's poly/lycra, not silk jersey. So the whole thing cost less than $10 to make. It just goes to show that some people have more money than brains.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This would clearly look much better in Tel Aviv.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Its so incredible! Thank you for telling me about this. Its not just another tired little black dress.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What an expensive looking nightgown for my great aunt Maude! How quaint.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think me and my D-cups will save my pennies for another KaraJanx Kimono wrap. At least I can be sure people will not be asking me when the baby is due.

Boy, that style is NOT flattering on anyone with any sort of a bust--even the model looks huge!

And, I've never looked at HSN's website before, but QVC has got them beat in the picture department--the fake photoshopped colors on the exact same model photo is not appealing. In fact, the lousy fit on the photo model may be due to some weird paper-doll type photoshop action rather than a real model! There is no back view becuase they don't want you to see the folded over pieces of paper holding the dress on her!

  34. sorry Rami, I rather go and pay $8.98 for SJP's floral dress
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh.My.God. Rami has lost it. Credibility, future as a respected designer...his mind, maybe?
    Oh.My.God.
    Sorry..I couldn't help myself..

    ReplyDelete
  36. $280 on HSN? Hope it's in silk.

Should be in a maternity line.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree that it looks like a nightgown. Blech.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That looks like a nightgown. An ugly nightgown the color of gangrene. How is that "flattering"?

    ReplyDelete
  39. It looks like an old lady housecoat. Yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good Lord that dress is ugly and $280 to boot? Not in this lifetime!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Eww again with the bad colors Rami? I thought the tent/sac dress was out this season the model that's wearing the lime green looks horrible! Shapeless fashion is OUT! Oh and $280.00 on HSN someone is smoking CRACK!

    ReplyDelete
  42. BLEAH!!! Didn't like it at Bryant Park. Really hate it now. Shapeless and unflattering.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The Palm Beach matrons are just so lucky to have Rami designing for them! I think my Grandmother would like those styles and colors, too.

    ReplyDelete
  44. its horrible!

however its is on the "waitlist" at HSN.com

    why people, why?

    ReplyDelete
  45. $280 for a muu-muu? No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. "The girl who needs too much said...

    Really?!
I'm perplexed as to why also...

    Jelly jars! Oh, the visual...LMAO.

    Freaking hilarious, Tom in kc!

  49. NO. No. No. No. Just... no.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm pretty sure that it would make just about any woman with breasts look pregnant. Also, I'm nearly positive I would look like Coco, were she to be sent to a nursing home.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Forever 21, $12.90. And that's all I'm saying.

    ReplyDelete
  52. That is not a good picture. Watch the video. It's a beautiful dress. Congratulations, Rami!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. It looks like a refined muu-muu, more like something you'd see in a full-page ad in an AARP magazine "Comes in 6 colors! Only $12.95 each!!"

    ReplyDelete
  54. Bea Arthur called and she is pissed...someone stole her MuuMuu from the clothes line and she wants it back!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Rami walked out with a model on each arm and looked like a pimp,a very uncomfortable pimp. I liked his dark blue one and I think the green one looked liked neon boogers.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My mom says it's "too matronly"

    She's 93.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Meh. Not impressed!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ugh! Moo-Moo (sans huge hawaiian flower print) house dress, whatever. That's got to be one of the most "unflattering to any figure" designs I have seen in a long time.

Did I mention that this silhouette is so ugly/unflattering/phoned in that it makes me irate? Hey Rami, next time include a couple of horizontal stripes why don't cha? You just made a size 1 model look fat and frumpy, for goodness sakes! Obviously I thought Rami was a better designer than he actually is. DTM Rami.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Rami is an incredible designer, he wowed us every time on the show. That is one hideous dress, totally unflattering.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Way too simple for a dress that's supposed to celebrate the one-year anniversary of HSN's "Scoop Style."
Rami, I love you, but I'm underwhelmed.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's the right dress for what Scoop in NYC was doing on the show.

Obviously so...the dress sold out in 10 minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh, dear. This was my least favorite look on the runway. Those shoulders and those sleeves are hideously unattractive. Why would I want to look like a linebacker wearing a nightie? I doubt whether seeing it "move" on the runway will make me change my mind. No thanks, Rami. Think I'll pass.

    ReplyDelete
  63. maybe it sold out because they only made 100--
    at $280 a pop that isn't a bad return...

    ReplyDelete
  64. No, they made 350 dresses and they all sold out. I saw there is now a wait list on the network website for more.
    Soooo obviously it's a hit.

It looks like a great easy stylish summer dress to me.
It's great for him. There's just no stopping Rami.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think it's cute , especially the lime. It is outside of my price range, but condidering how few were produced it isn't unreasonable. The dress is made in the USA so production cost is going to be higher and the skill level of the operators has to be kind of high with all the pleats on the sleeve cap and the yoke. He is offering the dress in 4 colors so he would have not gotten a "deal" on the fabric either. When you have a limited production you have to divide all the hidden costs by a few garments and just to break even the cost per gets pretty high. This is true with all smaller designers and it is part of what makes it so difficult to survive.
I can see the resemblance to the old muu-muu that were popular back in the 70's, but this dress is really much more sophistacated. I don't think they styled it very well for the HSN, though.

    ReplyDelete
  66. UGH.

Give me the runway dress anyday.

Rami, I have yet to see your genius.

  67. I don't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I like Rami but I don't this dress.

    ReplyDelete
  69. The original was one of my favorite pieces in Rami's collection but this adaptation is horrifying.

Okay, having watched the video, it's not THAT bad. But it's still pretty bad. Although it was nice to see Ramilicious again!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Sorry, I know fugly. The dress sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  71. The dress is very cute.
He says "easy" in the video.
Not everything dress is supposed be a couture Oscar gown.

Good job. Luv to Rami xo

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't care what what Rami thinks, he doesn't know how women want clothes to look on their bodies. This is HIDEOUS.
