Heidi, if you're reading this, THIS is how it's done. It's tasteful and appropriate, the print and color are gorgeous and flatter her, and the hair, makeup and shoes are perfect.
Our only criticism (come on, you knew we had to come up with SOMETHING) is that it doesn't seem to flatter her figure that much. At 52, she's still model skinny but the dress gives her something of a thick-waisted look.
Still, it's only a minor criticism because the overall effect is stunning.
EDIT: And because Iman is the quintessential Diva, it's appropriate that we also FINALLY have a new Dames and Divas Deathmatch on T Lo today! Go vote!

ReplyDeleteThat color is gorgeous on her, I also like the print. As far as the fit at the waist goes, It is a sarong style dress with the printed chiffon draped over a fitted sleeveless sheath. The belt is pulling the draped chiffon in at the waist. Very nice.

Last Sunday, I saw Iman out on 5th Avenue (twice), just walking around with her daughter. She was dressed shlumpy (baggy olive khakis & hoodie, no makeup), but she still looked amazing.

I saw more of these pics on Bowiewonderworld last night and some of the straight on poses give her figure more shape. But mainly there was the glow she was giving off showing off her husband, which she was really doing. She looked radiant!

I agree about the perfect hair and makeup, but am I the only one who doesn't love this dress? It makes her look like she has no waist, and the length is just wrong. This hemlength is not flattering to anyone. It can be just above the knee without being too short. Lower calf length would also be gorgeous.

I won't repeat the nit picky comments posted before, although they're mostly valid. My one personal problem with Iman is her accent; it's like fingernails on the blackboard to me. And yes, I realize that Somali is her first language, not English. It's just an aversion I have to certain heavy accents... think Frances McDormand in Fargo. I have to watch that movie on DVD with the sound off and the captions on - the accent is that annoying to me.
I kind of love her, but I'm not crazy about the dress. The thick around the middle makes it look like she has a booty. I do MOT think Mrs. Bowie has a booty.

On anyone else, this would look like catalog resort wear (or yes, Bill, Lily Pulitzer). On Iman, it just looks like an opportunity wasted. She usually wears something much more fitted and cool.

ReplyDeleteHmm, impeccably coiffed, shod and accessorized, and I think the color of the dress is stunning on her. The length is flattering, but appropriate for a woman of a certain age (though, considering her knock-out gams, she could definitely go shorter if she wanted).
