Preview, Kittens!

"Infections and Surprises?" How TACKY is that title?

In this preview, Sweet P looks like she's ready to get swept off to Oz with Toto, Heidi looks like a background extra in Working Girl, and Jack? Things don't look too good for Jack.

So bitches, based on the preview and the above picture, what do you think's going on?

  1. OHMYGOD Mothers and sisters again? I can't take it!
Poor Jack, I feel bad for him.

  2. Bridal is too easy and done before.

    ROYAL wedding?
    Cheerleader?
    Meatpacking District tranny hooker?

My guess is all three in one.

PS - Huge *HUGS* to Jack!

  3. I have no idea what's going on, but I LOVE you guys so damned much for keeping the posts coming and coming.

  4. " Fergus said...

Yes, but they could be doing bride, MOB and maid of honor.

  5. I won't play this game because I know, and I think it will change the balance of the competition. But let's face it, anything to spice up Season 4 will be welcome.

  6. Another Folgers episode, where they have secretly replaced all of the regular models with instant models. (Let's see if they notice).

And, seeing that picture of Rami, all I can think of is 'The King & I'. So could they be doing an homage to Musical Mondays? Hmmm...

Sadly there's serious stuff too: We'd heard that Jack gets an infection, but I didn't realize it was MRSA. That is very scary, because MRSA on it's own undermines the body's defenses and can kill you. But fortunately, we know this was taped months ago & he's OK now.

The thing is, does he leave because of the MRSA? (I think so.) And if he does, do any previously auf'd designers return for a second chance, so the producers don't end up an episode short?? (I think so too - maybe not this very week, but I think some do come back for a second chance.)

  7. I don't see Chris (or his shadow) in any of the preview videos, so it looks like he doesn't come back. Which is unfortunate and makes me cry all over again.

Maybe they are getting "everyday women" who aren't morbidly obese relatives??

    ReplyDelete
  8. Is that SJP's sister?

They have to design for relatives of celebrities.

PS - Using Jack's illness for preview-drama is tacky.

  9. It looks like an Elizabethan silhoutte: Project Ye Olde Ren Faireway?

    ReplyDelete
  10. It would be hard to come up with a tackier title!

Hmm. I watched the MSN preview over on Blogging Project Runay, and it sounds as though they are incorporating am item of their client's clothing into a new garment. Steven talks using wedding dress fabric as a collar, and Jillian about matching a color to a "shirt I was left with".

Gothamtomato said, So could they be doing an homage to Musical Mondays?

    If they're not, they should!

  11. Wouldn't "Infectious Surprises" at least have been a better title if they had to go there?

Voluminous shadows and white lace? Madonna like-a-virgin / goth / Rocky Horror?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Desertwind, I agree with you. Using Jack's illness for preview is just gross. I feel better knowing that he may have had cute Dale's arms waiting for him off camera.

I don't know what's going on either. Maybe they're going to redesign for popular mascots.

Nothing can console me that Chris is gone. Makes me like Miss Cry Baby even less.

  13. Tacky, tacky, tacky to use that as a teaser.

I'm guessing Jack had to leave for treatment, but that he might just come back.

Who knows, they may have sent him to the Dr. with a chaperone to make sure he didn't grab any "How to Win PR" books on the way.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not only tacky, but not the usual PR misdirection. It seems obvious he's going to leave.

I have no idea what the challenge is, butthat giant silhouette looks like one of Chris' costumes. *snf*

  15. Makeovers for hookers?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sweet P said "It looked like a crazy fairy pricess or transvestites or something." Maybe transgender ladies?!??

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think it's makeovers for women they grabbed off the street, but have to use something they're wearing in the final design.

And yes, it was tacky to use Jack's illness as a come-on, but we all knew about it, didn't we??? Hey, if we read this blog...we read 'em all!

    ReplyDelete
  18. No telling. Nurses on steroids. An opening night cast party?

Looks like Jack healed in the hiatus.

    ReplyDelete
  19. This probably isn't going to be the challenge, but I would like to see them design for previous designers that have been on the show. I think it would give us a little bit of the nostalgia we need...I'm especially missing the season 1 and 2 people. :(

I think I need my DVDs right about now.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The previews are very confusing. Apparently they are remaking existing outfits, including a wedding dress and they are also using real people models. They can't have just picked women on the street, or they wouldn't have come up with one in a wedding dress. Unless the woman was crazy and just wandering around in a wedding dress. Then they would have totally picked her.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Gotham Tomato: You're right, it does sound like MRSA. If so, Bravo had no choice but to ask him to leave. Poor guy. But at least we know he's okay now and happy with Dale!

Didn't they do that on Shear Genius too? I miss that show *sniff*

  23. I would think staph rather than MRSA, since MRSA requires 3 hours of IV antibiotics at the very least when it's discovered so high up on the body (have had 2 MRSAs in the recent past...not fun!), then EVERYTHING soft that you've touched has to be laundered. In order to keep the rest of the contestants in Jack's apartment safe, they'd have to move them out to hot-water-wash and high-heat-dry everything in sight, which would make the announcement sort of moot.

  24. hmmmm
Are we supposed to know the person Rami is talking to? Anyone recognize her?

I wish they'd do a challenge where they had to outfit the absolute nightmare client: 13 year old girls. They hate everything.....that would make the designers shit cinderblocks.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love JAck and don't want him to leave...maybe they can bring him back next year. I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just watching that clip makes me cry. Jack is so sweet. Why can't Ricky leave - his outfits suck and so does his attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  27. um, patrick? MRSA is a kind of staph. That's what the S in MRSA stands for.

If he does have MRSA and has to go off for IV treatment then he'd definitely need to leave the show, I'd guess.

    ReplyDelete
  28. My guess is Jack will be admitted to a hospital for a course of IV antibiotics (probably Vancomycin) and will have to leave the competition. As for the challenge...I have no idea but Heidi needs a makeover from Miss Iman!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think Jack said in the preview he had "Marsa" which is one way healthcare workers say MRSA.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wasn't thinking that they'd ask Jack to leave, but it makes sense... very sad, sad sense. I'm sorry he had to leave not from the judges, but from the producers. That's always a bad way to go.

That screencap of Rami makes me realize how pompous it looks to put your hand on your waist. I need to stop doing that now (but start doing HIM!)

    ReplyDelete
  31. can this possibly be a misdirect?

    Maybe jack doesnt leave

but then again if all the gossip and ny rag stories are true - then he does leave and they're hyping it for drama/ratings?

    Awful. I love Jack.

    ReplyDelete
  32. You know how they had that swim suit/era challenge on PR Canada? Maybe it'll be like that.

I want the claws to come out! I want bitching and fighting. Remember on season 1 when they went to a bar and Nora got trashed? C'mon, this is project runway, not top design. It's supposed to be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sorry -- simple staph infections (not resistant ones) don't require aggressive antibiotics like MRSAs do. I suppose the announcement could have been made just before treatment, but it's just eerie -- I had exactly the same symptoms as Jack (my face swelled up in exactly the same way), and the ER docs said they had to treat immediately, because the infection can spread to the brain from the nose very quickly, and that's deadly.

(Can you tell I have MRSA issues?)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh no, Jack!!!! I was waiting to get all jiggy with you honey! In a good way, that is.

I know someone who has MRSA. Nasty stuff, but treatable. And as Gotham pointed out, we know there is a happy ending for Jack. But good wishes go out to you anyway Jack.

Now, back to being b*tchy - what the heck was that behind the screen????

    ReplyDelete
  35. MRSA IS staph, methycillian resistant staphlococcus aureus to be exact, but it occurred in the episode, so I am not really sure why people are so outraged by the subject in the previews -- apart from the title of the episode -- Infections and Surprises????? Now that is just tackier than MOB and DTM all rolled into one.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Austin Scarlett comes out in a wedding gown to announce the wedding challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, always thought Jack was one of those who'd take it all the way to the finals. So much style, that one.

As for the photo, I think he's asking that lady, "Who DOES your hair?"

    ReplyDelete
  38. Personette--What is the gossip regarding him?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hmmm, great suggestions, people...

Methinks perhaps the musical theatre slant, with big costumes and over the top presentation, might be sort of on the right track...

What about an homage a la Chris, with big crazy costumed drag queens?

Though no self-respecting drag queen I know of would wear white lace (unless it was a garter).

    ReplyDelete
  40. They have to make a wedding moomoo FOR Chris!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think they should do a Pretty in Pink redux challenge, where the designers must use two thrift store formal dresses to create something entirely new (and hopefully better than Molly's creation in aforementioned movie). (The final dresses will not have to be pink.)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Inexplicably I am left wondering, what *does* a French maid wear to a funeral?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh my gosh! Poor Jack!! I'm so worried for him. What is MRSA/Staph??? It sounds serious. Is that the growth in his nose? How did this happen? What will happen to Jack? Does he need to be hospitalized?

    ReplyDelete
  44. hmm... when I heard fairy princess/transvestites I thought of the girls who dress up like the fairytale princesses at Disneyland.

Maybe they have to modernize the traditional Disney Princess looks or something.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The challenge is obvious: Designing Evening Wear for exotic dancers!

ps -- Is Heidi going to wear only black and white for the whole season? I mean, damn, it was summer, right?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just want to know why is Heidi only wearing black and white outfits this year when she comes out to introduce each new challenge. BORING! And that miniskirt in the preview? FUG.

Poor Jack. That does not sound like something fun to get INSIDE your nose?!? Yikes. I hope he gets better soon.

No idea what is up with the models. Trannies? No way. That's a little outside the box, even for Bravo.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I read on the internet a while back that Jack gets a staph infection and his face swells up and he has to leave the show.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Maybe they will bring Chris back in place of Jack. That would be sweet because we know Jack is leaving and we all love Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It looks like a "Try to Design Something Jeffrey Sebelia would Design" Challenge.

I can't stand those challenges! I want to see designers create something NEW and original, not recycle old crap.

  51. Soooo very tacky(and exploitative) to work Jack's illness into the title for Episode 5...

It's good to know that Jack is well, and enjoying life with Dale!

    ReplyDelete
  52. they're designing for preggers imho

    ReplyDelete
  53. OK--

I'll go for it--the news leak was a red herring--Jack has to leave but only long enough to do a round of IV Vancomycin and then returns for a later challenge. Not sure on the timing for this, but it could work.

    Vanessa

  54. There is more than one type of MRSA. The community acquired MRSA (which is probably what Jack had) isn't nearly as scary as the one that kills people in hospitals. Many people can get rid of it with a course of oral antibiotics at home. IV antibiotics aren't always required.

Plus, a lot of people have staph bacteria on their bodies anyway. I've seen estimates of anywhere from 40-60%. Some people are just more susceptible to getting an infection if it gets in through a cut or scratch.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I pray that Jack's Staph infection is not life-threatening. I'm relieved to see that he looks in fine spirits these days but he may have had a close call during the show. The poor dear.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Just saw that the episode is titled "What's the Skinny"- I bet they have to transform an item of clothing for a woman who has lost a lot of weight.

    ReplyDelete
  57. According to Wikipedia, Jack quits and they bring Chris back to replace him...and Chris isn't even the one eliminated in this round!
