Catching up with Uli, Uli, Uli.

Darlings, we've been Malan-flooded with emails asking about Uli and what the heck she's been doing these days. We grabbed her after shopping for fabrics at Mood and asked her a couple of questions.

Uli, darling, we haven't talked to you in ages.
Yes, last time I saw you guys was when you were with Laura on your way to Malan's party.

That's right. What are you doing in NY?
I came to buy some fabrics and visit some garment factories for my designer confections.

What have you been up to lately?
I've been selling my clothes in high-end stores and at the moment working on my new collection.

Lots of fabulous prints, of course.
As a matter fact, yes. I still buy some of the prints - whenever I like them - but now I'm creating my own signature printed silks for my new line out of Korea.

We heard rumors that you're moving to NY, are you?
No, it's too expensive, besides, I wouldn't have the water, the dolphins, the palm trees...I'm happy in Miami.

Are you rich yet with all the Project Runway fame and glory?
Not yet, but I'm working on it.

  6. Hey! We have water here (bottled), palm trees (there are a bunch sitting in nice pots 6th Ave), and the occasional lost dolphin (delicious).

But yikes, she'd prefer Florida?? I've been there: You've got yer hurricanes and alligators and sharks and gigantic cockroaches - which they call 'palmetto bugs (but, sorry Floridians - a palmetto bug is just a cockroach with a press agent).

And worse than that-- they have delusional old men in Speedos! Everywhere! Talk about dangling chads. Eeuw. (I just gave myself chills).

I now must go cleanse my visual palate.

  7. I also love Uli, she isn't full of herself nor full of drama...wait, how can she possibly make it in the fashion world!!

Please let us see some of her work when you can!

  8. I hope this means she's resolved whatever qualms she had about production. If she found someone to meet her exacting standards, I think we are going to see some first-class clothes. Good for her.

Now, you lovely talented woman you, take the damn hair clip out. You're gorgeous

  9. Uli is fantastic. A young DVF perhaps? She's very talented and I can't wait to see some of her clothes.

  11. I love Uli. She seems so funny and cool to hang out with. I absolutely loved the last dress she created for Nazri and the picture with the band, remember that?

  13. Hopefully she wasn't too vasted when you "ran into" her (and WTH were YOU doing in NYC on the stealth, yet again). I see another Laura post in our near future. :-)

Love you bitches and love Uli!

  16. Bravo ran PR Season 3 today and I was reminded how good Uli looks (nice rack girl!), how kind she is to everybody, and how rockin' her clothes are. I would LOVE to see what she's been up to!

  17. I love the drama-free zone that is Uli. Glad to hear she's on her way to being an even bigger success.

  20. Uli makes clothing that women want to buy. Can't go wrong with that.

  21. Gorgeous woman, gorgeous stuff!

And Gotham Tomato, Couldn't agree more! I may live in the 'burbs but they are the 'burbs surrounding NYC not some swamp!

  22. Uli!

Interesting that she's gone with Korean production.

Now, Uli -- send PRGay some pix! Or, start your own website, darlin'. We love you!

  24. BTW, I meant to ask: What is 'Malan-flooded'?
Is this something I missed by not going metric?

Malan said during the reunion show that he had received over 2 million emails since his departure from the show.

  27. Gotham, Florida may suck, but hey- we have Ricky Martin.
So are you going Tuesday? Who is going? Something tells me I am going on a very expensive H & M shopping excursion. (they don't have them down here, but we DID just get an Ikea!)

I haven't decided yet if I'm going on tuesday. There are no tickets & usually I stay away from non-ticketed events because they can end up like a zoo. If they had handed out tickets in advance, I'd definately go. But I'm not sure I'll want to stand on line for hours (especially in the bad weather forcasted for tuesday).

I guess it'll depend on how I feel when I wake up that morning.

I hope that next time Bravo does anything like this, they'll have some sort of lottery for the tickets. That is definately more respectful of the audience.

  29. Hope springs eternal. I know I need my head examined for attempting this when I really have a million other things I have to get done...
but if nothing else, I will hopefully, finally get to meet our Project RunGay boys!

I agree though- there should have been some sort of contest where tickets were prizes....its kind of mean of them to advertise it and then run it that way....

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't mean a contest. Just a more sane & civil way of distributing seats. That's what other TV audience wranglers do.

  31. Well anything is better than what the current plan appears to be....

  32. Uli's designs might not be something I would wear, but they are designed well, though admittedly quite a few look like the other.

My love for her is because of her genuine Friemdship (at least on the show). She didn't harp on everyone, she tried to be on the sympathy wagon when ever she has a chance (not in a bad way)

Nice update. I hope it goes well with the new collection

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'll look forward to seeing Uli's signature silk prints-nice to know she's doing well!

  34. She is a doll, thanks for keeping us updated!

  35. By the way....I stayed home.
After 20 million phone calls to friends at NBC and Lincoln Center it was determied that the chance of me even getting a standing room spot was so low that flying all the way there was foolish. I am pissed.
    Oh well.

  36. I'm wondering if the weather will be a determining factor in the turnout. I know I still don't know if I'll go and it's 9AM already.
