...And the rest.

Let's wrap this up, shall we?

And speaking of wrapping things up...

This is for the chic martial artist who wants to be sassy and wear her brown belt ON HER HEAD.

These two worked well together but the simmering egos just under the surface made us think things were going to explode any minute.

We really liked the sketch but somehow it's not working as well on the model. They seemed to stick pretty close to the original design but those kimono sleeves really make it and they kind of fall flat in the final product.

In fact, those aren't kimono sleeves at all, are they?

God, it's like they shoot these models in dark alleys somewhere. Would it kill them to turn on some lights now and then?

We defended brown tights yesterday for Kit's outfit and that means our quota is used up for the next year. We can't go two days in a row defending tights or we won't be able to look at ourselves in the mirror.

It's just a flat, bleh kinda look. Not particularly flattering in real life and not nearly as chic as the sketch implied. Terrible accessories, too.

And the Jiffy Pop hair didn't help.

"Oh, Anita! It is so beautiful! Tonight is my first real dance as an AMERICAN girl!"

Ricky sez: "My intention wasn't for the dress to be pretty pretty as it was already pretty. I needed an edge to it, so I made a belt. This was the second piece."

Well Ricky, unfortunately adding a riding crop to it means it's just a pretty dress with a riding crop. We'll wait for you to finish crying before we continue.

Jack sez: "Ricky has the sickest model."

We say: "Jack, we totally agree that Lea is the best model so far this season, but we're alarmed that a 37-year-old man is trying to sound like a 16-year-old skaterat. Stop that."

He's a Muscle Mary from Chelsea!
And he's a Muscle Papi from Escondido!
Together, they fight fashion crimes on BICEPS & BIAS CUTS, a fabulous new series this fall on LOGO!

Don't get us wrong, we loved this dress. Beautiful detail on the neckline and lovely proportions on the little sleeves.

The belt's a big "enh" for us. Nothing really wrong with it and we get the idea of mixing pieces with a slight edge to them with pieces that are conventionally pretty, but for the most part the overall effect was a bit bland.

Pretty, but bland. We'll give it up for the muscleboys for working well together and producing a cute, very retailable garment.

Actually, we don't really need an excuse to give it up for muscleboys.

    Word.

And Ricky so looks like a cuddler.

I do want Ricky to lose the hats. Real fast. Not a good look for him.

Yes! Thank you! I've been totally straining my eyes to see what the hell these people have made for 2 weeks. I really rely on your screencaps to get CLOSER looks but the lighting and set is killing your fine efforts. Why don't I remember this being such a problem before? My eyes have not deteriorated that much in 1 year!!

  3. It was brown??
    Who knew it was brown?!
I agree with gacm, the real
product is only shown on this
    blog!

  4. The color choice for the kimono was its greatest downfall. I think the detailing would have shown up more had it been another color...or if the majic elves would have kicked up the seriously shitty lighting on the runway. But it was a pretty boring design nonetheless.

As for the muscleboys...What is the deal with the wifebeaters?? Are they THAT much of a fashion statement? I just don't get it.
And the pretty, pretty dress wasn't that pretty to start with.

snort,snort...thanks for a great start to my day...please don't abandon us for TV development!!!

  6. If those were kimono sleeves, I'm Kuan Yin, Goddess of Compassion. Had they cut the sleeve as is shown in the sketch the effect would have been much more attractive. They just look bunchy on the runway.

  7. Since we're discussing Rami's outfit, how about a word on his model choice? He got to choose first and could have had anyone and yet he stuck with Fraulein Frump. Really, she's got to be one of the worst models in a not very impressive group. And I'm kind of shocked that Ricky's original model got auf'ed. She was much better than a lot of those who made the cut.

  8. What was that belt made out of anyway? Did the Bicep Buddies really make it, or was this a Keith Michael-esque creation?

And amen, amen, amen on turning up the damn lights! I'm also really getting confused by the difference between the colors I see on my TV screen each week and the colors I see in these screen caps. Is it just my set or what?

Rami and Jillian's outfit = Sominex.

  10. I loved Ricky's dress. I thought it was gorgeous, although I do think that a belt shouldn't be counted as a second piece.

  11. i love to watch the expressions on the designers' faces during the walks. take a careful look at rami and jillian's faces as their love child gets paraded down the catwalk. the emotion!

all the others look like they're watching poo on legs.

    k.

  12. Ricky's dress is way too simple, like something you could buy at the mall. I'm not impressed.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jiffy pop hair. . . .ha ha. That is great.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I thought Ricky and Jack's dress was exceedingly boring, and I think having a belt as a second piece is kinda BS. I'm wearing a belt right now with my t-shirt and jeans, but I don't claim to be wearing a three-piece outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Dude. I have a soft spot in my heart for criers, because I'm a crier myself, but I feel like Ricky takes it to a whole new level. Is there any time when the man doesn't cry?

I'd wear his red Maria dress, though.

  16. The black belt looked tacky.

  18. "Jiffy pop hair"

    LOL.

Ricky's dress was simple but Lea worked the hell out of it on the runway. Rami and Jillian's outfit was just boring.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh, and she's my favorite model too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. How is the belt a second piece? And how did he not get called out for that?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Biceps and Bias Cuts! Love it!!

Rami's outfit looked dowdy to me-definitely blah.

What is it with the styling of these models-the hair was ass.

  23. We have decided to do a drinking game- every time Ricky cries you have to do a shot. I think I will be toast after 20 minutes. I can't take the crying- really- is this going to go on every episode???

    ReplyDelete
  24. Rami and Jillian's outfit looked like it was for an Eastern Bloc fashion show.

I thought maybe they would start playing "Matchmaker, Matchmaker" or "Tradition" as she came down the runway.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I actually like Rami and Jillian's outfit but it needs some color variation -- otherwise, you just look like a walking turd. (My apologies to their model; it wasn't her fault that she was clad head to toe in a poop-brown shade). And what's with all the hating on Rami's model? To me, she's the only one who doesn't look one meal away from being a Halloween skeleton.

I liked the Bicep Buddies' outfit. The dress was pretty basic but it was young and fresh, the color was gorgeous, and it looked great with the belt and boots. (The crop, alas, would be awkward at a party. Do you hold it all evening or check it at the coat stand?)

  26. Ricky scares me a little bit.

I mean, every time he gets a moment in front of the camera, he starts crying. Come on, fussy drama queen. Suppress the waterworks or you'll turn into another Andrae.

    "I'm suh-suh-suh-SAD!"

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think the problem with Rami & Jillian's outfit is the fabric choice -- it's just too stiff. I guess all the supple fabrics were out of their price range. I wonder if washing the fabric before cutting would have helped.

As for the models, I also wondered why Rami was sticking with Ashley, who has no facial expressions. Bland, bland, bland. Ricky was smart to grab Lea, who knows how to work an outfit.

  28. j-yo, easy: just tuck the crop under the monster belt.

I know its a fall/winter collection, but c'mon, how about some interesting colors (& not those blues, Elisa & Sister C. Again!). Would a print kill anyone?

Ricky, what are you hiding under those hats? A hot guy can have a bald spot, trust me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OMG, don't get me started on Ms Ricky. She can cry in her hat for all I care. I cannot wait to see her get the boot.

You guys are too funny, I laugh all day at work reading this stuff.

Did anyone else see the rumor floating around about Jack? That he said he was kicked off on the fifth show because of his HIV status and a staph infection that he got. I wonder if that is true?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also, I agree about the belt being a second piece, it should not have been allowed and why wasn't she called out on that?

You stick it in your boot. Then, when your slave has finished polishing them, he pulls it out with his teeth, and presents it to you so that you can punish him if he's done a bad job.

Or so you can punish the designers who made that godawful shmatta.

  35. Rami/Jillian made a costume for the B-52s. Ki-mo-no!

Ricky and Lucy made a lovely dress. Hair is ugly, but it's very SATC, Carrie Bradshaw last season kind of hair. The belt as a second piece is bullshit, and it's not a very good belt for that purpose anyway. If he did make it, I wouldn't want to be the only straight girl in the workroom as it dawns on them all that Ricky works leather. Grrrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm confused about Ricky & Lucy's dress though...

On my TV it looked like a nice shade of purple. But here it looks red. I like both colors but I was excited that someone was using purple & am now feeling a bit let down.

Such an exciting life I lead.

Ricky's dress was girly, pretty and perfect for Bitten, I thought.

Rami gets on my nerves and je ne sais pas pourquoi.

  40. Rami's model ended up looking like Peg Bundy.
Ricky's outfit was nice, but the belt as a 2nd piece was pushing the envelope.

  41. thank you for making a point about the dim lighting. i don't remember it being this bad. it's like the producers don't want us to see the clothes this season.

also, i so look forward to ricky's crying scenes in each episode... every time they cut to him, i just start chanting "cry! cry! cry!" seriously, it's a major highlight for me. i hope he sticks around for a while.

also, too, i love how ricky's sketch has a graffiti/anime edge to it. i want to pop sailor moon's head on it and stick it to the side of the number 2 train.

HATED the red dress. It looked like something from Blair. And I kept looking for the second piece...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rami's model looked liked it was hiding a terradactyl's egg on top of her head... the outfit was lame.

and Ricky's had a nice dress, but there was no second piece- belts don't count, especially ones that look like you could get a Kohl's. That dress needed a great second piece to really give it some power.

  47. ...actually, Rami & Jillian's cooperative relationship gives me hope for peace in the Middle East, even if it might result in dull fashion.

  49. The Kimono looked lifeless. Those sleeves looked like they were bunched up. I think the down fall of the look was the fabric. Had they been able to choose a nicer fabric like silk I think the style of the kimono would have come out more.

And the brown kimono with brown leggings and a brown headband made me think that I had gone to shitsville.

No! Dear God, no!!! Living in WeHo, I have to contend with too many hysterical, histrionic Rickys as it is. Seriously, you can't swing a cat in any gay bar in this city without knocking over a couple dozen overly emotional Latinas. Not sure who/what's to blame: their mothers or the steroids. Either way, Ricky is just another reminder of why I stick to the white boys and let my friends put up with the brown ones.

Sure was. What the hell? You see the girl with her hair down, she's lovely. Pump it up like Max Headroom and she looks like an alien with a huge nose.

  55. I liked the red dress. It was the only dress on the runway that looked, you know, like a dress, i.e., no leggings or capes required.

The belt as a second piece, though? If Ricky washes out as a designer he should try becoming a lawyer . . .

    ReplyDelete
  56. i think that rami & jillian's model has a lovely face, but in looking at the front-on screen shot, her neck is the same width as her face, which is only emphasized by the hair style. not a good thing. i find the ’do quite old school barbra (http://www.biggeststars.com/b/barbra-streisand-photo-34.html)

*start* Oh, wait! Outfits? I'm ready to look at them! I'm read---

    zzzzzz....

No, for real, I liked Jack & Ricky's dress a lot. Other than Sweet P & Elisa's dress/cape combo, that dress is the only outfit I'd wear -- and it's the only one I'd wear without any tweaking, period. Still, it doesn't have a lot of, as NeenaGarcia would say, "wow factor". But it's pretty, and I love the color.

    The others...zzzzzzz....

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh, also must add that, even though I loved the dress, I agree that the belt-as-second-piece was a cop-out. Did they even MAKE the belt, or did they pull it off the Bluefly accessory wall? Well, even if they made it, it's still an accessory, not a second piece. But it looks like Ricky made it clear in his design that he was doing a dress with a belt, and apparently SJP was fine with that, so who are we to judge?

Wait. Did I say who are we to judge? Shame on me. I meant to say: LAZY LAZY LAZY. Ricky Lazylady. That's my new name for him.

Yeah, that was funnier in my head. On the screen, not so much. I just embarrassed myself in front of my peers.
