Update

She's home.

And she hates us.

  1. She'll get over it, and love you more than ever. You'll see!

  2. That photo captures her "You have to sleep sometime..." expression purrfectly!

When we had ours 'done', they were a little grumpy/out of it for a couple of days, but they soon recovered.

  3. Awww. thombeau is right. She'll get over it. There might be an act of spite or two on the carpet in the meantime...

  4. When I fixed my cat, Vito, he came home and immediately smacked the shit out of the dog, like it was his fault somehow.

    What's your beautiful girl's name?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Trust me. She doesn't miss anything. That's not how cats operate. Do I need to mention that a male cat's penis has sharp barbs on it, like a cactus? Not fun.

  6. Aww, poor Kitty. Hope she feels better soon. <3

  7. This morning I woke up thinking about you guys, well, not about you precisely, but about your beautiful baby. I'm glad she's ok. And she looks fabulous! Don't worry, she'll get over it, and best part, she won't try to run away. You will have to watch her weight though, because they tend to gain some after the surgery. I love how she's laying on that blanket, I can see that she's the truly queen in the house. And that she gets much love from her fabulous daddies.
On the other hand, my mom just told me that my cat (who lives with my parents in Argentina) got shot -again- by some stupid neighbor, and he has to go to the vet. :(
I hope I never find who's doing such a thing.
Much love to all of you!

  8. I think she is more upset that she has a bald patch on her tummy then anything else. When Minge had "the change" I know that is what bothered her. Make sure you pick her up when she wants to jump onto something so she doesnt pull the stitches and give her lots of treats.
Cat people quick lesson for all of you, (I had to learn this the expensive way) Now that warm/humid weather is here, watch how much fluid your cat is taking in. They will drink less the more hot and humid it becomes which can cause tummy/poopie issues i.e they get bound up. Ask Minge, we went thru this last year and 2 visits to the emergency room later (1 for her and another for me to stitch my forhead that she slashed open as I tried to put her into her carrier to get her to the emergency room)
but we are both fine and I have a scar for cocktail pary stories

  9. Her name is Amalita and don't worry darlings, we've been through this twice before with her two older "sisters."

  10. LOVE the photo. what a diva. i will be taking my baby puppy in next week. it is a stressful time for parents. glad she is home.

  11. Give la dulcita Amalita a kiss from her Auntie D. That picture is priceless: "I love you, Daddies, but I will fuck your ankles up with my claws when you sleep."

Amalita is gowwwchaausss!!! What a diva attitude-love it!

I've seen that same look on our own little tyrant, Genghis...that "Don't even THINK about touching me" expression....

Give Amalita a kiss from Auntie BitchyBitchyBitchy!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, my, what a face. You captured her disdain perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That expression I know all too well. That's why I always insisted that my partner take our cats in to get spayed/neutered. That way they would associate HIM with the removal of their parts...and not me.

    They totally love me more.

    ReplyDelete
  15. She looks just like my baby girl, Hatbox, looked right after her spay. Don't worry - she'll recover.

  16. Amalita! I love her! I love her name! I love her gorgeous striped outfit! Poor dolly - but obviously she's getting tons of love (and now has an internet Fan Club!)

    yay for cats!

  17. I love Amalita! She is a beautiful diva. (Please tell her Dieguito and Lupita send their love, divo and diva respectively). And, to MT, is your cat really called Minge? (I am English and if you are too, you will know why I ask!)
    Love, CP

  18. "Check your shoes."

I love the furry little attitudes!

  19. Perhaps a little salmon will help prepare her to forgive you.

    ReplyDelete
  20. She'll get over it. :D I'm glad she's okay.

  21. I'm glad Amalita is home and doing well. Freeway, Zoey and Sidewinder send their best wishes.

    ReplyDelete
  22. She doesn't hate you. She's just groggy from the drugs.

And she is almost as cute as my cats!

    ReplyDelete
  23. What she doesn't know yet is just how Fabulous it will be that she no longer has to deal w/ Aunt Flow visiting anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  24. That look, I have seen it before---oh wait: when our Diva Tabatha finished off Tyson.....aaaahhhhh!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thea, Zoe and Valentina were all "done" at the earliest opportunity, that being a condition of adoption from the local humane society. Fourteen years later, they still love me.

    However, they hate the vet.

    ReplyDelete
  26. When we got our kitty fixed, the first thing he did when he got home from the vet was walk straight to the bedroom, and shit in the middle of our bed.

We got the message loud and clear.

Hope she's her old self again soon.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Look at that posture, that pose! You didn't tell us she's a supermodel!

    ReplyDelete
  28. So I'm the only one who gets to do this:

    *AHEM*

Thank you for spaying your cat. It's the best and most loving thing to do.

Ok, had to get that out.

  29. You were shaved, weren't you?

  30. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Even if she's a cat. ;-)

  31. That short and sweet post with that incredible picture is complete wicked perfection.

    LOVE IT!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yikes! That is one pissed-off kitty!

But she'll get over it and love you again! She just needs to shower you with her disdain for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes, she does. And she's not too fond of Bob Barker either.

Not only are the two of you fabulous, fun, and inspiring; you're responsible pet owners. Love it!

    "She's home"....

and ready to scratch your eyes out.

    !!! Does it really?? :X

  36. Sweet little thing....yes, she will hate you for the entirety of today. But tomorrow she will be back to her sweet self. Sistersin was right, she does resemble Tabatha in that picture!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oooooh, that is one pissed off pussy! Sleep with one eye open, guys! And check your shoes before you put them on.

I love kitty bitchface! Whoever says animals don't convey emotions is a complete moron.

My Mitzi (Gaynor? not sure...she already had and answered to her name when we adopted her, and she has little oven mitts on her front paws) had a botched hysto before we got her...you can feel the bad stich-up job in her uneven tummy, poor thing.

At least the morons who did it got the right parts out. Mitzi is a doll, unless you pet her tummy and she's not in the mood.

  39. I lost my precious Sophie (who looked enough like Amalita to be a twin) to breast cancer. My vet said it is extremely common in female cats who are not spayed. She was my first cat and I was NEVER told by my high dollar vet in Fort Worth that she should be fixed and why. We had surgery and the breast were removed along with the tumor and she lived another year comfortably but I watched carefully and the first time I detected the return of the lump I scooped her up and went immediately to send her home to God. It's been two years and I am still sick about it.

Point is, you are two very good daddies to take such good care of your Amalita. Pat yourselves on the back and she will sit on your neck again in no time at all.

  40. Nick and Nora Charles send their regards to Amalita! They recommend either surimi grade tuna or some nice salmon as a peace offering, and find that being consultants can be to a rich and satisfying career. (Much less exhausting than that the Spawn of Satan phase that kittens go through).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Meant to sign Nick and Nora's comment with my tag "Rosie's Girl" but forgot. (I am too much of a luddite to figure out how to get my name to show at the top of the post. (Somehow clicking other isn't working.)

Anyway - one additional comment to those who think they got their cats "fixed". No, No! my darlings- you got your cats "broken". (They worked fine until you did that.)
Nick and Nora (rescues) were shifted into neutral before they were put up for adoption - what a great way to say "I love you" to your pets. Spay and Neuter is the gift that stops the giving of millions of unwanted animals.

    Cheers,

    Rosie's Girl

  42. And, to MT, is your cat really called Minge? (I am English and if you are too, you will know why I ask!)
    Love, CP

CP yes her name is Minge thanks to my partner Ben who was from Australia. He named her before he passed away and I still think of him (and his wickedly dirty sense of humor) every time I look at her!

  44. Poor thing. I was lucky, when my cat was "tutored" he decided he hated the vet and thought I was fabulous for "saving him" when I picked him up afterwards.

  45. She's home and she hates us

    Lmao

    So cute.

  46. I am just giggling over the fact that you guys are so fabulous that something as simple and strange as getting your cat's va-J-J nailed shut is like the evening news around here ... oh, blog-o-sphere, i <3 you. And I love T-Lo. I'll read whatever you guys slap up here. Glad to hear the lady of the house is home and well.

Too bad Cat on a Hot Tin Roof isn't a musical. Liz and Paul at their absolute hottest? For that alone, four stars. :-)

Can't wait for Liz to wander into the the Diva/Dame Deathmatch. In her heyday, who was more feline?

  49. Okay, I'm stupid. I bookmarked the new site, but only the premier post. Couldn't figure out why you guys hadn't updated for over a week.

Aw, cute kitty. She'll come around. Let the drugs wear off. But don't be upset if she has a bit of a poochy tummy--they cut the abdominal muscles to get to the lady bits and they don't always heal back as well.

I also think she and my feral rescue kitty have been separated at birth.

  50. Oh my God, even your cat is fabulous.

I'm with snf in va... keep one eye open.
