  3. I haven't seen any of S1 and I think I love Austin anyway! He just looks so old school B/W film actorish actually maybe even predating talkies. I'm afraid to watch any of S1 for fear that he'll just be a raving lunatic. You've met him, tall me he's not. Make my girl crush heart happy.

  4. Wonderful! And isn't it perfect timing for them to include this in their ads for the holidays?

  9. Lisette,

Austin is definitely NOT a raving lunatic. He is FABULOUS!!

  10. Austen is prettier than most females of my acquaintance and he dresses much better. What a glam queen!

  11. WTF? I don't get it....

  15. When I first started watching PR my first thought re: Miss Scarlett was, "You have GOT to be kidding." He just struck me as so affected, but then again, he proves my theory that gender is a construct. And besides, we all need a little theater in our lives, whether we find it in chiffon scarves or the Superbowl. I'm glad we got a chance to know him a little better and that he didn't remain just a caricature of effemininity (is that even a word?).

  16. K, after a quick Google search, I now understand the joke.

    HAHAHA!!!!! He's so ritzy!

    Priceless.

    Coincidence? You make the call!

  18. "Why am I such a misfit???"

Oh dear, that IS Hermey's hair. Austin does kind of look like a beautiful claymation figure. Too perfect to be real :)

It's true. I think Austin is gorgeous and very talented. I don't want to give away too much (right, boys?) but I really enjoyed his outfits, and I heard that he's just as adorable in real life as he is on the show.

Wait - Austin wants to be a dentist?

    I'm so confused.

  22. April, honey, we forgive you for not getting the joke. It's a tad obscure, but any gay male over the age of 30 remembers being MESMERIZED by the Blackgama fur ads in mommy's magazines. Every one of our soon-to-be idols and divas did these ads back in the day.

My favorite is the one Liza did, cocktail in one hand, cigarette in the other, swathed in animal fur. Politically incorrect on three levels at once.

I love the commenters on this blog as much as I love the PR Gay Boys. That is SO funny, Paul.

  24. So THAT'S why Austin was teased growing up! All the other elves wanted to make toys, but he wanted to be a dentist. Elves can be so cruel.

  25. Laura Bennett may be fabulously glamorous, but you can tell she works at it. Austin radiates glamour--makes it look effortless. Does anyone wish we could strike up a love connection between Austin and Malan?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nah - two pretties do not a couple make....Let's pair them up with others and spread the glamour around. I see them more as "Best Friends" - lunching, shopping, trying on hats together.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh great, now every time I see Austin I'm going to think of Hermey the misfit elf. Thanks! BTW, even if you weren't the only ones to think it, you were the only ones with the BALLS to say it out loud!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I can picture Austin sprawled out nude with only the BLACKGLAMA. Kind of a peek-a-boo photo a la Faye Dunaway. Pure, unadulterated GLAMOUR.

    ReplyDelete
  29. speaking of Rudolf, do y'all remember Nureyev's?

to change the subject, who possibly could have guessed that Austin was from Oregon? I wonder if he has a flannel shirt tucked away somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  30. anyone remember a Vanity Fair article about Siegfried and Roy? Siegfried was sprawled across his especially glamorous bed, nude, entwined in a sheet. Reminds me of Austin.....

    ReplyDelete
  31. I adore Austin. He's stunning!

  32. I just looked at the website for Blackglama. The have images from all of the ads through the years. Those are some gorgeous women, of course, but what struck me most was that the women were of all ages and races. It wasn't just skinny white girls.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Helllooooo! Just because someone is from Oregon doesn't mean that they are automatically a lumberjack...

    ReplyDelete
  34. To me, this is far more reminiscent of the young, neuotic, and nude Yves.

  38. I remember looking at all those ads when I was a teenager. They were fabulous.

Austin is definitely one of my favorite designers and now I hear he has this fabulous job designing wedding gowns. That's awesome. It only proves that you don't have to be the winner to suceed. Congratulations, Austin!

  39. Wedding gowns? Really? I didn't know that.

  45. Ms. Austin is truly fabulous, and it's about time someone found his dramatic visage as intriguing as I do and gave him an ad. Rock on Scarlett O'Hare!

  46. Knowing Austin... Blackglama was probably the look he was going for... and don't we just LOVE him for it??

  48. austin is, well, um, one of those larger than life charicatures. he has remained true to himself and his design aesthetic.

    you go boi.

the image of lucille ball brought back a flood of memories......i remember seeing that ad in vogue and thinking, how could such an icon of comedy go from stomping grapes and be so etherially beautiful?

thanks guys for sending me into a reverie so delicious i can taste the chocolate and port.

  52. Glamoliscious!

  53. THe more I see his timeless glamour and perfection the more I being to wonder if maybe there wasn't some truth to the theory that he's a vampire, brought from a time period past, eternally young and eternally fabulous.
EIther that or he has a painting in the attic wearing a horrible outfit with limp dry hair and sagging skin. *giggle*

  54. Wow, that's crazy man. They should really try to do something to fix that.
