RuPaul's Drag Race S2E2

"Oh my God, I'm in a group with Satan's baby."

Gratuitous and disgusting objectification. You can send your complaints to whocareswhatyouthink@tomandlorenzo.com.

It amazes us how they can come up with so many appropriate challenges for a drag queen reality contest. Forcing queens to play with dolls is like forcing a fat kid to eat a cupcake. All you have to do is point them in the right direction and they'll take off.

So Sahara and Pandora win the doll showdown, next stop?

Stripperville!

Pardon us, "Burlesqueville." And after indulging the queens by giving them dolls to play with...

...they then turned to punishing them by forcing them to look at gyrating ladybits.

Gyrating Ladybits will be the name of our band.

And what the hell was up Miss Sourpants' cooter? Isn't that always the way with the prettiest girls? Always the biggest bitch in the room.

Kim Coles, whatever happened to her? We always thought she was a really talented comedian but she kind of dropped off the radar after the '90s.

And let's face it, they couldn't have found a better judge than Miss Dita, who not only is the current reigning queen of burlesque; she's also basically the world's foremost anatomically correct drag queen.

Now kittens, if there's one thing we love about reality television...

It's watching the participants make utter fools of themselves.

And yet, something about this challenge wasn't clicking with us. For one, "sexy" is a very small subset of the drag world. The vast majority of drag queens don't go for the kind of sexy that straight men like. It just felt like none of the dolls were enjoying themselves.

Granted, that's why they call it a challenge, but still. Then there were the shots of the "audience" and kittens, we don't believe for a second that any of those men were straight. Not least because you'd be hard pressed to find a dozen straight men on short notice willing to throw money at half naked lady men. Besides, we've got the gaydar and it was pinging loudly every time they panned the "crowd."

If they really wanted to do it, they should have sent them in to a strip club already packed with patrons to see how they handled it. As it is, the whole thing came of a little too staged.

So let's watch the queens do what queens do best: play dressup.

Love the dress and she really is striking. She's got a mouth on her, but Miss Ru slapped her down. We'll see if she learns the lesson.

We are not loving this look. That headpiece or hat or whatever it is, is weird. And the dress is a bit too low-rent drag queen for us. Jessica is not one to watch, but we could be wrong about that.

Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one, bitches!

She is definitely at the top of the list. She didn't do so hot this week, probably because she seemed inexplicably threatened by Nicole Paige, but her transformation is amazing.

Fabulous. But we like her better when she's working a Sheree from Real Housewives look.

Oh, Miss Pandora.

You have us very concerned. You are our favorite and you really seem to be floundering here. Are the prettier girls getting the best of you? Because honey, when there are prettier girls in the room, it's best not to wear a floor-length house dress. Step it up. This is your second disappointing catwalk experience and we will be very upset if you go home.

We repeat: J'DORE JUJUBEE.

She's one of the best at giving face.

Another one who seems rattled by the prettier girls.

Although we're not sure why. She could be quite beautiful and glamorous if she wanted to be. She could easily work a Sandra Bullock look.

Mystique also gives really good face, but that girl is a BITCH. But hey, at least she's not worried about the prettier girls.

Did not like this look at all. Like most drag queens, all of her makeup skills are stage-based, so her face comes off really harsh on television. She could easily be the prettiest of the girls, but that doesn't seem to be her thing.

Bitch could be an honest to god model if she wanted to. And if she wasn't such a moody bitch. We want to root for her, but her personality is making it a bit tough.

Didn't much like this look either. We're not crazy about the wig and the dress looks a little cheap.

In the end, it was poor Miss Nicole Paige who went home. We were sorry to see her go, but we can't really argue with the decision. For whatever reasons, she just wasn't able to reach deep down inside herself and find her inner CharismaUniquenessNerveTalent. This was no time to be the southern belle. Unless that southern belle is Miss Scarlett O'Hara, because that bitch got whatever she wanted.

Jessica Wild's wig/headpiece made her look like the top half of Peter Pan Guy: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g267/carolineryder/peter_pan2_1.jpg

I haven't watched this yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will first chance I get. Oh, and Gyrating Ladybits...great band name!

YAY i have been refreshing all day for this post!!

I love this show way more than any straight girl should but I am not really into the contestants as much as season 1 :( Maybe they will grow on me when there are fewer of them.

i am so happy that you guys are recapping this show.

the look on tatiana's face watching the dancers still cracks me up even now that i've seen it at least half a dozen times. pure horror. ha!

what i really want this season is for nina loca to come back and teach some of these bitches some manners and class....

This challenge confused me. Like you said, very little of Drag is marketed towards the straight stripper fantasy audience. This must be part of Ru's emphasis on realness (hence all the fishsticks this season). However, I was not under the impression that the audience was supposed to be 'straight guys.' If they were, they must've come from a Chi Chi LaRue casting session.

"Forcing queens to play with dolls is like forcing a fat kid to eat a cupcake."

I could not love you both more if I tried.

When/Where is the Gyrating Ladybits' first gig? I'm SO there.

Sadly, I don't have this channel... perhaps I'll YouTube it.

I hated the dancing. I was trying to imagine making Bebe or Nina do this challenge, which would have seemed like an insult to someone like Bebe.

BTW, do you guys recommend watching this or Kell? I notice you always do the update on Kell first. Is that because you think it's a better show or because you are saving the better one, this one, for later? There's a lot of good stuff on, I can't catch it all. Which do you two think is the one for those of us with no DVR or whatever and can only catch one easily?

caitlin, they have all the episodes online at http://www.logoonline.com/video/showall.jhtml

Miss Nicole Paige seems like a sweetheart, but it would have been a travesty had she NOT gone home after the lip-sync-off. Raven absolutely wiped the floor with her sparkly ass.

I LOVED the doll modification ('course, Craft Time with my friends used to be a lot of that), but the "burlesque" challenge fell flat. Perhaps because it wasn't burlesque? I was looking forward to classy tease-dance with big feather fans, sequins, and slinky music. I feel like actual burlesque (with modified strip-down) might have made for a better challenge. Sassy-sultry, not slutty-sexy. *shrug* And the money aspect: ew.
Ok. I'm done now.

The order in which we write our TV posts is based on nothing more than how easy or difficult it is write about any one particular episode. For instance, the Lost post went up early today because, for whatever reasons, it was an easy episode to write about. The last episode of KoE was also really easy to write about since the post was basically a rant. Plus we don't need to screencap Lost or KoE, which can sometimes take hours. We didn't really love this episode of RPDR, so it gets a little harder to pull our thoughts together.

As for which one to watch, that's up to you. Kell on Earth is clearly not a show for everyone. But the good news is, RPDR is viewable online at LOGO's web site and at least the first episode of KoE is on Bravo's site. We're not sure if Bravo is planning on putting all the episodes online.

Jujubee is my fav so far. Loved her mocking Tyra who I lost all love for with her stank attitude this week. Sonique is gorg, but was a turn off when her attitude during the cherry challenge. I'm slowly warming up to Pandora, Mystque needs some better foundation garments, cause that tan bra under the black outfit drove me nuts. Girlfriend couldn't put on a black one? Nicole never impressed me and Raven wiped the floor with her during the LSFYL.

The best part was when Tatianna got grossed out. The ads were pretty cute, I watched it online at logo and they showed the Absolute spots featuring last season's alum -- Channel looks like she put on a little weight;). If you guys haven't checked out the RDR site, you must try the Dragonater -- always suspected I'd look Damn good as a drag queen! ~Gary.

I didn't get the impression that the boys in the club were meant to be considered straight? I could have missed a beat and just not heard it.

On a more embarrassing note, anyone else spend the next day at work singing Rupaul's 'Tranny Chaser' under their breath? (the song that was playing at the club) Stuck in my head much.

Thank you, Tlo. You expressed what was bothering me with this episode (which I mostly fast-forwarded through). To see them trying to be sexy and gyrating was not enjoyable.

Mystique and Pretty Girl = stank attitudes. Why come on TV and act that way? Is it nerves?

How I LOVED that LSFYL. Raven is not the one to mess with. She will cut you. Love her. Those piercings almost ruin her lovely face.

Can I just say I want my own Pit Crew?

they showed this episode on VH1 this morning

I didn't get the focus everyone (including Dita) put on "pretty." Pretty doesn't count for much in drag or stripping. In both arenas, personality and energy are so much more important.

Anyway, hating Tyra, loving JuJu, and naming my first born Shafreeforal.

I don't think they ever said the club audience was straight - they just said it was going to be men.

Agreeing with Muse up there--this wasn't burlesque. Burlesque is Fancy Strippin'. I think most of these ladies would have done a much better job at that sort of thing. This was just "dance like a Fly Girl." But totally worth it for those reaction shots.

I'm so scared for Pandora. I luuuv her. But really? She's not a drag superstar, she's a funny boy/girl that you want to hang out with.

I found the main challenge very confusing. I think it would be appropreate if those were supposed to be straight men. In fact I just assumed they were gay. But why would gay men be excited by the stripper pole?

Are gay men excited by the drag queens because they know they are men under the clothes? Are they turned on by pretty girls so long as underneath they are a man. I found it all very confusing.

Caitlin, they repeat them on Tuesday night on VH1. I caught it late last night and was so thrilled. We don't get Logo either.

SisterZip

Morgan looks like Joan Collins' (Dynasty for you youngsters out there) sister!

"Gyrating Ladybits will be the name of our band."

J'DORE TLO. Seriously, I giggled so much.

I am also rooting for Miss Boxx but I'm concerned about her presentation. She has a great personality and she's a doll, so I would love to see her stick around. I'm tired of the bitchy girls already (I'm talking to you, Tyra) so I need some sweetness with a dash of goodhearted sassiness to even it out.

I was a bit sad to see Nicole Paige go home, but she lacked a lot of personality in this last challenge. Personality and spunk was sort of a must every step of the way here, so I understand why she was sent home. I knew when she was up against Raven that there was no way Nicole would out-lip-sync her.

Sidenote: Does Nicole Paige not remind anyone else of Famke Janssen? Am I the only one?

http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/070130/famke_l.jpg

Oh and I love Juju and Pandora. In fact I kinda want to buy Pandora cause I could totally see us watching tv together, making fun of everyone and having a spa day.

In fact .... could you get his number for me?

"anyone else spend the next day at work singing Rupaul's 'Tranny Chaser' under their breath?" -Guilty. Though not at work, found myself dancing around the apt. singing it...
anyone watch the 30 minute untucked? Raven and Morgan both seemed particularily STANK to me. ugh such nasty attitudes! Can't wait for both of them and Tyra to be sent packing.

If RuPaul, who's living the life most of these ladies want, specially comes over to you and gently wakes you up and sweetly asks you why the hell are you napping, wouldn't you STOP NAPPING? My disdain for Tyra is intense.

Also, Dita doesn't pole-dance, does she? Doesn't she do the classy burlesque? Then why wasn't the challene about doing classy burlesque instead of tacky Britny impressions?

Sahara and Pandora could work together and be Sheree and Kim. In fact, I think Pandora was wearing one of Kim's thousands of disposed wigs. (What DOES she do with the wigs she wears once and gets rid of? I would like to think they're going to some charity for impoverished drag queens.)

For those of you who don't have LOGO: I watched the show last night by hooking my laptop up to my big flat-panel TV. I started watching it around 9pm, and when it was over I flipped back to the TV function, which for some reason was set to VH1... et voila, there was the Most Boring Lip Synch For Your Life Ever! So it seems that VH1 is broadcasting the episodes at 9pm on Tuesdays. Yay!

I expected the audience for the "burlesque show" to be gay men, but also half-expected that the twist would be that the audience was straight. That would have been interesting!

Am I the only one who is already bored by this season?
What made the first season so great, was the fact that the contestants were such intriguing and fascinating people. Drag was just a part of who they were, and finding that out, was just as enjoyable as seeing them perform.
This season, they seem to have mostly chosen the contestants because their physical attributes might be attractive to a more hetero audience, but they don't seem to be as multifaceted or have the depth of last season's contestants. There seems to be a lack of class.
Also, the show may have more money for this season, but this challenge was just tacky in conception and execution. Nels was right, this would have been an insult to most of last season's performers.

I loved Raven's sing off. She was poised, aloof, and diva'd the hell out of the song.

I'm so glad you guys blogged about this show. I LOVE it. I watch all of S1 over the weekend. And the theme music was going through my head last night when I saw a tranvestite at a local restaurant.

The girls in S1 seemed so much nicer than S2 girls. Not just the untucked men being more sensitive and nicer, but even the make-up of S2 girls. Morgan and Raven style themselves so harshly. From Morgan's make-up and the clothes she wears, it has struck me that Morgan doesn't like women. Her attire and make-up almost seems to be to mock the worst characteristics of females. I hope my feelings are wrong...and it's just that she's used to crafting stage looks.

Onto a more fun topic, what's up with Miss Sourpuss? She seemed annoyed to be seen as a drag queen in public. Hellloooooo, you're on tv and millions will see you in and out of drag. Although maybe her complaint was the tacky stripper outfits (those were NOT burlesque), she really does have a glamordoll persona. I want to see her dance for her life just so I can actually see if she has talent.

Considering that "Tranny Chasers" was the song, I think that they were well aware that this was audience of gay men.

I agree with those who point out that what these drag queens were doing was NOT burlesque. It was stripping. Burlesque, derived from the Spanish word for "joke," is a lot closer to drag than it is to straddling a poll. It's about bringing out the sexual in the everyday and the comic in the sexual, teasing and getting a laugh as well as a holler. Jujube was the only one I saw doing anything close to burlesque.

And I know, girl, because I do drag AND burlesque!

And to Confused, "gay men" are not a homogenous category. Some of those guys may indeed have been turned on by drag, whether it's about the illusion, the androgyny, or just because drag queens are some brave bitches and bravery is sexy. Others were just enjoying the show because drag is fun. Most of the time, when I give a drag queen cash, it's because she's turning it out, not turning me on.

rudy, Thanks for the info.

The audience is just a bunch of gay guys having fun and laughing at the performance. They probably were not turned out so much as having fun.

Boys - I'm officially changing my drag name from "Miss Spent Youth" to "Gyrating Ladybits". I would make an excellent backup singer in your band.

On this week's show, Tyra WORKED MY LAST NERVE. All that pouting and mumbling in her mush-mouth monotone while staring off into the distance was extremely annoying.

And you're right, it's always the pretty bitches...

XOXOXOXO

BTW what was up with RuPauls left breast during the judging?

I wondered too, it was just jutting out like a half a grapefruit! ~gary

Ian said "Am I the only one who is already bored by this season?"

No. I've also been comparing it unfavorably to last season, and the Absolut ads only serve as reminders that Nina, Bebe, et al were more interesting and transgressive than this year's group.

Judging from the previews, next week looks like it's edging into shark-jump territory, but I honestly hope not because I love this show.

I was very disappointed about the challenge, burlesque can be very teasing and unusual but this was a lap dance show around a stripper pole. Ugly.

Tyra came across to me as a) annoying as hell and b) pretty tragically screwed up, beyond just immaturity. She's putting a lot of energy into making sure she fails.

The flash point to anger with this group seems so much quicker than it did in S1, a shift I don't enjoy. I'm hoping we see some endearing spirit out of some of the queens who go far, as with Ongina and Nina Flowers last time.

Maybe the cheese stands alone but I sort of thought Sonique was funny (plus she looked crazy gorgeous in the runway show and she can tumble) ... I mean, I would be upset if the lady at the Starbuck's counter spoke to me that way, but Sonique's a drag queen for pete's sake ... Sassiness is part of the show... I don't really expect a drag queen to smooth my hair, give me a cookie and suckle me at her chicken cutlet.

This episode increased my love/hate feelings towards this show. Love it cause love drag queens, but I don't like how all the girls are so fish this season. I miss me some Nina Loca!

Also...I think they should let the queens pick their own songs for lip synch for your life and have time to do their own bit for 2 minutes or so a la So You Think You Can Dance. That's what I didn't like about the first season...I thought at least the final three would get to do their own act on stage. There's no way in hell Nicole Paige could work that song like Raven, but there's some other stuff Raven probably wouldn't have been able to pull off as well...hmmm maybe Dolly Parton? It's luck of the draw in getting a song that works for you.

ugh, tatianna needs to go HOME...that girl looks too much like a pretty college sorority sister rather than a drag queen

Do I get a whiff of Shannel with Raven?

Not my fave episode, but the outfits were pretty!

Sonique is gorgeous and has fabulous clothes. In my opinion, she's the prettiest. Does anyone else think she looks like the pussycat doll with short blonde hair?
Jessica's look was bad here, but loved her outfit in the first challenge
Raven is fierce, her lipsync was great
Sahara's dress is beautiful
Hate pandora's dress, she can do better
Jujubee looks FABULOUS, like a more feminine Ongina
I never really liked nicole that much
Mystique is sassy for sure
Morgan gets credit for doing something different, but less makeup please!
Tyra's outfit is fab but her personality is awful
Tatianna should have been in the bottom for her mediocre presentation

I'm not attached to any of them yet, but at the end of episode 1 last season I was already a fan of Ongina and Shannel and a big fan of the fabulous Nina Flores. My issue here is that they cast girls for drama, not the sweet, fun ones from last season. Sonique is stunning, Jujubee is adorable, and Raven is fierce, but I like two out of the three because they remind me of former contestants.

Who knows where can I download desktop virtual girls from here - VirtuagirlHD for free?? Is it possible? I've heard it is.

Don't all kids like cupcakes? Or only the fat ones?

Sorry...but no one likes the words "fag" or "homo" or the dreaded "n" word, but it's fine for everyone regardless of race, creed, color, or sexual preference to make fun of fat people?

It just takes the fun out of TLo's usually biting humor. Prejudice is never funny.

did any else in here got the morticia adams vibe from raven and her drag look? bitch was scary.

i didn't like the challenge either. and while raven wiped the floor with her LSFYL, it wasn't has "fun" as it was with the first episode.

Stop being such a nancy priss ass. Watching fat people eat is funny.

I love Pandora Boxx to bits and I really hope there's a plot twist where she gets her wardrobe into working order and slays everybody with her moves. Jujubee's another one with a (possibly) borderline dress sense, but I can't help loving her either. She's salty! And you see it on the runway, which is a relief.

Tatiana… She's like the pretty girl version of Alan Carr.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UkfTJEslWU
I like them both a lot, I should say.

I really miss Nina. Especially when Tyra opens her mouth.

I think the snow made you guys a little bitchier. In a good way! Much love.

Ian said "Am I the only one who is already bored by this season?"

I wouldn't worry too much yet -- we're only 2 eps in, and for any reality show the herd needs a bit of thinning before the dolls like Nina and Ongina are more visible.

Then every time a new season starts, we all remember loving so-and-so at the end of last season...forgetting how long it took us to get there. But we will.

I agree that the go-go dancer challenge (plus selling cherry pie on the local street corner) felt strained. The most ill-conceived part, for me, was the decision to choose a winning team based on how much money they made. This was weird for two reasons: 1) as TLo pointed out, the audience at the "strip club" consisted of an audience of gay guys who were obviously chosen to play an audience, which is okay (I guess - though TLO's suggestion that they perform at a real strip club is far more inspired) but the money the audience were spending was obviously not their own. What then were the real stakes involved in them tipping the girls? 2) The decision to choose a winning team based on how much money they made (what is this, the drag version of The Apprentice?) effectively silenced the great panel of judges, who in fact had very little judging to do. Boo.

Did anyone else notice? During the judging segments.... Ru's boobs looked like she had just escaped from a bad mammogram! Flatter than flat.... pancake style. Maybe it was the camera angle, but she truly looked deformed!

from Pandora Boxx's Twitter:

Shafreefra is mad that they spelled her name wrong on #RPDR! It's: Shafreefra Awl! She's got razor blades in her weave ready to cut a ho.

I love her even more!

I knew Nicole Paige was going home as soon as the music started. She basically just stood there while she was lip syncing. That is a no-no.

jujubee is pretty funny, she needs more screen time.

ms. tyty needs to unbunch her panties and eat a nice big slice of STFU pie.

I don't really expect a drag queen to smooth my hair, give me a cookie and suckle me at her chicken cutlet.
But ass Ru said she crossed the line from sassy to rude.

Tasmia,

The difference between fat people and gay or black people is that fat people can change. It's incredibly insulting when fat people try to lump themselves with actual minorities whose rights are so often infringed upon.

The conflation of burlesque with stripping was truly weird. Calling what those pole dancers were doing "burlesque" is ridiculous.

It's not prejudice. If you eat loads of cupcakes you're going to be fatter than if you eat none, and that's a fact.

Sonique's got a bit of Ellen Barkin going on. Can't help but want Pandora to win. Damn if them bitches aren't green with jealousy over Tatiana!!

I don't remember them claiming that the burlesque audience was made up of straight guys. And If they did, they obviously meant "we put 4 straight guys in the back row"

Yes, poor Shannel on the Logo site running on and on and on during her Absolut bit. You can tell bitch talked for 1 hour 37 minutes like she did in the spokesperson challenge and they had to cut it together to get 25 good seconds out of it. Bitch needs to get some botox, too! You could have grown asparagus in those furrows in her forehead.

What was up with Ru? She had some titty problems didn't she? Had that Jane Russell Cross Your Heart Bra thing going there when she walked the runway. Later them tatas were like a compass at a cub scout convetion - pointing every which way but north.

Still don't have a favorite queen yet. I'm really quite bored with all of it and think they really did it all first season and this is just a copy of the original.

Oh and I know we are supposed to be talking about the current crop of queens, but those Absolut bits on the logo site! Just plain ridiculous!

Please tell me, exactly how does being a corpulent, verbose pugnacious 12 year old pave the way for one to become a true Las Vegas showgirl? Shannel? Comments?

I think Miss Tammie Brown would've boycotted that entire challenge. I would've loved to have seen her do that far more so than the actual outcome.

I can't help but wonder about the old man in the Sonique clip they kept showing. Notice the big 'ol lipstick mark on the side of his face? He had obviously already spent some of his 'valuable time' enjoying the attention of the queens, and wasn't willing to spring $5 for a cherry pie slip? I think she read him just like a good drag queens should!

She may very well have been rude to others though.

That's one good thing about being the Orca-sized Fat Chick .. don't have to worry about competing with "pretty." Plus she can like pig out and eat whatever and stuff and it's okay. People expect them to do that.
I wanna be a TubOLard!

Gee, thanks guys. Now I'm going to be humming Cher all morning (I'm a straight girl - this is not part of my daily routine.)

Gee, thanks guys. Now I'm going to be humming Cher all morning (I'm a straight girl - this is not part of my daily routine.)

Instead of the fat kid/cupcake crack, you guys could of said it would be like forcing Kirstie Alley to eat a Fatburger. That way you won't be accused of being fatist. Or misopedic.

Craig said...

Yes, but then it wouldn't have been funny. And if they're "fatist," then I guess they're also anti-gay, because all the pearl clutchers seem to have missed the other part of the joke:

"Forcing queens to play with dolls is like forcing a fat kid to eat a cupcake. All you have to do is point them in the right direction and they'll take off."

Y'all need to lighten the fuck up.

Anybody know where I can watch this online? Logoonline is not allowing it to be shown here in the UK :(

This show is like the greatest mash-up of Runway, ANTM and my weird half-cognizant fantasies. I love it more than words. And the extra half-hour we get watching bitches swig vodka and trash talk? Bliss.

So, I alas read your post before I watched the second half and was ready to say "Tyra's attitude is so stank I don't care what she looks like." But she really is stunning even when she was being an inexplicably uncooperative judging bitch.

Mystique on the other hand didn't seem that bitchy to me this week and looked damn good in her gown. Maybe she is in a binary bitch orbit with Tyra and doesn't look bitchy in her superior stank bitch presence (drag queens and astronomy: two obsessions brought together at last.)

I hated Tatiana's hair and gown (and those cadaverous purple lips. Girl, no) but damn if she didn't look pretty and genuinely girly anyways. She might be one to watch. Hated Morgan's outfit and makeup. Please invest in a makeup mirror with a daylight setting.

Raven's bottom two was a fluke or chicanery to throw us off. I can't imagine her not being in it till the end.

I'm not really loving Morgan yet, but I would start if she used her lazy eye and did a Paris Hilton look.

Sonique, Raven and Tyra are gorge, and I don't think Sonique was rude, what little they showed of her on the streets.

Tatianna could be this season's Rebecca Glasscock and as much as I love Pandora Boxx, I don't think she'll make it too much farther, she's too sweet.

I haven't seen anything edgy or couture yet but I'll keep tuning in.

And I think joining the debate team gave Shanel the confidence to get up in front of people so I can see a direct correlation to becoming the fabulous Vegas Showgirl that she is.

"binary bitch orbit" . That's HILARIOUS! That's my band name!!!

How ironic that it takes a show about drag queens to get beautiful women with hips in the spotlight. It's time they let the beautiful biological women/models in the fashion industry/media have 'em too.

"The difference between fat people and gay or black people is that fat people can change."

"If you eat loads of cupcakes you're going to be fatter than if you eat none, and that's a fact."

Ugh, you guys, come ON. This ignores genetics and makes it sound like everybody who's heavy is some kind of gluttonous slob and ignores that there are plenty of thin people who can eat cheeseburgers and cupcakes until the cows come home and they never gain a pound. Sure, lifestyle has a lot to do with it, but it's not the whole story. Not by a long shot.

We're on this thread because we are okay with gay and tranny-- can't we be accepting of everybody, regardless of body shape/size?

"BTW what was up with RuPauls left breast during the judging?"

I am glad I am not the only one who noticed that!

"Ugh, you guys, come ON. This ignores genetics..."

It sometimes might be genetics, but I never met an overwieght person who ate 5 small meals a day. My genes say I'm nearsighted but I wear glasses.

Here is something to consider, could you imagine RuPaul participating in this challenge? On the pole?

I think Sonique problem was that her actual anger and frustration showed up. I am no expert on Drag Queens but it seems that part of the reason they can get away with things is that nothing is said in actual anger. Sorta like TLo, they say hilarious things but since there is no malicious behind the comments, they get away with it (except the cupcake joke apparently)

That is why I am not feeling the Raven love, she is just so full of herself and so serious. A lot of the 'gals' are angry. Like scary angry. And they feel the need to be so perfect. Bebe was so nice last season, and Ongina was so sweet and funny. Etc Etc

No, the guys in the room were not straight. My partner and I were identifying them as the camera panned over. We named a good 50% of them. All gay.

How can jessica Wild have hips wider than mine, the ones that bore 4 babies? He's HUGE!

Finally got to see episode 2!

Is it just me or does Nicole Paige Brooks look like Holly Marie Combs?

I am so glad Nicole is gone. If I had to hear her pronounce her name whenever she enters a room one more time, I would've stabbed my television.

NiCOLE Paaaaaaige BROOKS.

AHHHH.

Is it just me or does Pandoras Boxx look like Kim Z from the Real Housewives of Atlanta in that first pic. Maybe She and Sherree-wannabe can have a slapdown.

Thank you. I get it. It's okay to hate and make fun of fat people and drag queens are just adorable.

Point taken.

Fuck you and this website.

p.s....people are laughing harder at aging, bitchy queens than you think.

Looks like someone needs a cupcake!

RE: Anonymous above...

WIN!!!

So far I'm loving Sahara, Sonique, Jujubee and Mystique.
I agree that Morgan's makeup is too much and too harsh! Tone it down. Not sure why Tyra was having a 'tude throughout the episode.

I agree with some of the commenters that this season's girls aren't as appealing as those in the first. Each of Season 1's queens had her own distinctive look and personality. They were also generally supportive of one another, which I found endearing. There was just enough cattiness to make things interesting. This batch is younger, bitchier and seem to blend into each other. I'm having a hard time telling some of them apart and learning their names. As for the challenge, I would have preferred real burlesque as well. They could have vamped it up with fans and bubbles and things strippers used in the early days. I've never seen the appeal of a skank humping a pole. But then I'm a straight female. Since they did go the slut route, It would have been more fun if the audience had been unaware straight dudes. I would have loved to have seen the men squirm.

Some straight men get angry and violent once they find out they've been "tricked" into being turned on by a non-biological woman. Perhaps the show's producers wanted to avoid that possibility and so they cast gay men as the audience.

Yay you posted another recap!!

I for one am ELATED that NPB was sent home. She was annoying as hell. Raven mopped the floor with her in LSFYL and I do see some Shanell vibes in her.

Tyra Sanchez-- ugh. Her stank attitude made me not root for her anymore. Jujubee all the way!

I dunno, TLo...Scarlett didn't get Rhett in the end!

LOVED the mini-challenge. Makes me want to go out and buy some Barbies.

Jujubee FTW!
