Boo Boo Kitty & Mila

Darlings, expect a lot of WTFs going forward.

Model: Kasey Ashcroft

WTF?

Help us out here, minions. Does ANYTHING about this entry make sense to you?

Like previous entries from Boo Boo, the dress starts off nice on the top. We like the frippery around the neck and we like the colors. We like the way the bodice is constructed and she did some nice work on the seaming.

But WTF is going on with that hem?

And WHY TF does the back of the dress look so much worse than the front? Did she think the model wasn't going to walk down the runway and turn around?

And finally, WTF was she even thinking with this concept? It's way too washed out, color-wise, for a cover and because of the shiny fabrics it looks, as the judges pointed out, a little too bridal.

We enjoy her for the entertainment value and she seems like a sweet girl, but she's been floundering every single week. We hate to say it, but it's time for Boo Boo Kitty to go.

"One thing that it's a little disturbing to me and disheartening to me is that after coming in second nobody was really happy for me. Nobody said congratulations. I don't know what's that about."

We're not even going to abbreviate this time: WHAT THE FUCK?

WHAT THE FUCKETY-FUCK-FUCK?!?

That is the STUPIDEST fucking complaint we have ever heard from anyone on a reality competition EVER. We realize that these people are tired and stressed out and the production people are firing questions at them in order to get a juicy soundbite, but who the hell says something like this? Who expects hugs for making second place FROM THE VERY PEOPLE SHE'S COMPETING AGAINST? THIS ISN'T THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS, LADY.

wE KNEW --sorry -- We knew when she had that second-episode meltdown over her model picking another designer that she was going to be a little nutty, but that just takes the cake. Get over yourself, honey.

Model: Brandise Danesewich

And you won't be getting any hugs or high-fives over this shitty dress, either.

Once again, we're completely befuddled as to the color choices here. When the editor in chief of a fashion magazine tells you what she wants from you in order to get your dress on the cover, PAY ATTENTION. Was Mila still pouting over the lack of HUGZ that she didn't hear the part about color?

And if you're going to be doing color-blocking (we're getting really bored with the color blocking, by the way) it better be damn perfect, especially when it's all so centrally located. Some of those seams look mighty poor to our eyes.

Plus, as Nina pointed out, the pattern basically serves as a roadmap to her funbox. "Here it is, boys! Or at least, here's the general vicinity!"

IF she had chosen more vibrant colors and IF she had executed it perfectly (and IF she hadn't pissed us off with her whining) we might have liked this dress, but to be honest, we kind of hate it.

She managed to put together a look that is both bland AND weird at the same time.

I am SO not a Mila fan. I had meltdown of my own when she won with the orca tracksuit for the museum challenge.

Mila just sucks. I'd have told her off in spades by now. Fuck Mila.

Her walking into the room and bragging over her second place finish was just too too too. I didn't really think about her one way or another before, but that was seriously batshit.

I think the Ace bandage criticism Mila got on the runway was spot-on, as well as the Duchesses eye roll in response to her lame defense of her color choices. She's a mature, experienced designer, so I don't get her junior high excuses and concern about popularity.

Sweet as she is (and charmingly self-aware and forthright), I thought it was Boo Boo for the lose this week. I don't mind Other Generic White Girl going first, though.

I was sooo hoping Mila would be a designer in the laura bennet mode --
making clothes that were elegant, restrained and wearable by those of us who won't ever see 35 again.
Oh, AHAHAHAHAH...
This really was a shitty dress and she is a PITA.

Both of these are just wrong. Just wrong for what was being asked of them.

Neither one of them listened to what was expected.

WHAT THE FUCKETY-FUCK-FUCK?!?

Love it!! Can't wait to use that line.

Agreed about Mila, quit crying and creating drama.

You're not going to get any arguments from me, boys. Those dresses were boring and badly made. Boo Boo just doesn't have the right stuff. She's at least as scattered as Ping, but without any of the creativity.

Mila has some talent but also some limitations. And she doesn't seem very huggable, at least on the show. When she came prancing in crowing about getting second place, even I was annoyed and I'm not competing against her for anything.

Not happy with either of these designs or designers. Can't they both just go away?

The "selective listening" epidemic on this episode is baffling. You would think someone Mila's age (so sage! so wise! so experienced!) would have already studied fashion magazine covers as part of their professional education.

OMG! I am going to have to stop reading these posts while drinking coffee! Yet again I almost did a spit take all over my computer! "What the fuckety fuck fuck"? I am so dying...you guys are the best! Oh...and hate the dress, hate her, and hope she is out right behind boo boo kitty.

~K~

"WHAT THE FUCKETY-FUCK-FUCK?!?" is going to be my new mantra.

I didn't think Boo hoo's dress was the worst dress on the runway(it has some nice seaming). But it was certainly a poor choice for Heidi (I've never seen her wear an a-line knee length skirt) and I thought the poluted ocean crack from the Marie Claire editor was LAME.But I think Janeane has totally lost confidence in herself and abilities and will be going home soon.

Mila's would have been much more suitable in bright colors, but probalby still not quite right for the cover. It is kind of swimsuit-y.
I hope she isn't getting paranoid. The model picking an other designer really threw her, but it seems to me after winning a challenge she would have gotten over it.

Look at your final picture.
Was in Nina that pointed out that if Heidi wore that, it would look like she was being photographed in a skin colored sports bra? Well, she was right.

Honestly, how hard is it? THE DRESS NEEDS TO PHOTOGRAPH WELL UP TOP.
the pitiful blocking was in the lower half. Ding dong!! Is anybody home??

WTF WTF WTF!!! you guys really crack me up! :D

Boo Boo Kitty...definitely made another boo boo of an outfit...hopefully we'll be saying bye bye Boo Boo real soon!

In case Mila is reading this...congrats honey on making the 2nd least offensively craptastic dress of that episode... :p

Did ANYONE pay attention to the brief? Even I remember it:

Detail up top
Bright color
No prints

Mila: beige; detail at the bottom
Boo Boo Kitty: beige
Jay: beige
Maya: beige
Amy: print
Jonathan: beige AND print

"WTF" is right

^ oh...btw...congrats Mila on making the 3rd most offensively craptastick garment of this episode!

;)

I thought BooBoo's was not only ugly but as you say, in which universe did she think this was appropriate for the challenge? Heidi wearing that in the cover? To me it was worse than Anna's but oh well... to her credit, she did realise it was bad (I'm often flumoxed by the lack of self awareness of some designers when they see their stuff coming down the runway).

One with a big problem of self-confidence is indeed Mila. I think she over compensates by acting a bit of a show-off. Ugly dress that. I also notice Kors not buying the excuses, that was fun.

Still, I think she's good but it's fun to see there's quite a bit of competition this season, and people going up and down, not as when in last Irina would comment as to how noone could threaten her and of course she was right.

Again, the brief was what this editor wanted for her magazine. Milaa, and others, were dumb not to listen, but magazine covers feature blacks, whites, nudes, neutrals, bottoms, prints, etc, etc, ALL THE TIME.

I've actually really liked Mila's aestethic until last week.. I still think that she has potential and her collection was one of the best.. So i'm hoping she's going to step it up and get back to being a frontrunnner! And enough with the whining Mila!!

As to Janeane... SHE NEEDS TO GO! All of her outfits were just bad! her collection is awful! and she's soooo annoying!

I still have hope for Mila, and seeing as how her collection was one of the few to sport one of the MOTR, I'm guessing she's in for the long haul.

I'm sorry Casey had to go. The blonds don't look like they are going to have long shelf lives this season.

I was shocked at the level of "listening to the assignment" failure for this episode.

I am a science nerd, which means I do a lot of homework, which means I have to complete a lot of assignements (follow directions). Even I (lowly fashion challenged nerd) picked up on the three directions the woman gave:

1) COLOR (its fucking springtime people).

2) Make the interesting stuff on the top where it will be seen on the cover, but try and stay away from prints that will compete with text.

3) This is for Heidi Klum, tight shiny and short folks

Why were these contestants so oblivious? I give them an "Needs improvement" for the grade on thier listening skills.

??? Every single collection sported a MOTR model...

If you make another Special Olympics joke, I'll stop reading this blog. Leave the offensive jokes out of it please...

Well, if I'm remembering correctly, Boo Boo's dress wasn't close to being finished -- but gah, even so! My favorite part of the episode was when Nina alluded to the fact that Heidi couldn't do sweet and virginal -- this was a perfect opportunity for a double auf -- wish the producers had taken it and we would be treated more coverage on better designers.
Mila? She's crackers. Didn't like her tracksuit, either. ~Gary

"Help us out here, minions. Does ANYTHING about this entry make sense to you?"

Sure. J. was panicking and second-guessing throughout the episode. She couldn't decide what to do, ran out of time, and desperately threw something together. Result: a bad dress.

About Mila, I was wondering how much difference the lighting change made, washing out her peach like that. "Peach" sounds like a good spring color -- she didn't expect it to be beige. Ben mentioned a color change due to lighting too, so I don't think she was just whining there. Still not a very interesting dress, though.

Just - I can't see Heidi in either of these dresses.

Also, another - ONE DAY CHALLENGE??!!! Really. What the fuckety fuck fuck with that? (oh I love that phrase, thanks TLo)

Maybe the designers should unionize and strike by sewing nothing but black aline shifts on one-day challenges. Or maybe we viewers should strike. Seriously, who can make anything but crap in one day?

Ugh. Boo Boo Kitty's bridesmaid dress was horrible - straight out of a 1994 Watters and Watters catalog. It makes me mad to think that she showed at Fashion Week when Gordana did not.

Is Mila wearing the same shirt Boo Boo Kitty wore earlier in the season?

Mila's dress is one of the ugliest things to ever walk down the PR runway. It is nothing short of hideous.

Personally Mila's whining was lame. Why would anyone congratualate you for coming in second? All she did was provide fodder to contrast with Anthony who everyone showered with love

I agree Jeneane probably has zero confidence right now and is second guessing herself to death. Tim mentioned that she started out with a good assortment of colors and then ended up using a "WTF" combination. Well at least she is self-awre enough to know when she puts otu a lousy outfit.

I was wondering about that too. The only thing I can come up with is a lot of them bristled at so many restrictions. I mean the editor just about designed the dress for them. Jay for instance might have been thinking he would design such a wonderful dress that they would use a full body shot. Maybe Seth Aarron too (who did have a wonderful outfit). The parameters set were so narrow that really only Anthony and maybe Maya(who didn't) could design a dress that was true to themselves as designers and work for Heidi and the Marie Clarie cover.

"Tlo said: THIS ISN'T THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS, LADY."

THIS is the kind of insightful reporting I come here for (and you never let me down!)

And her excuse (about the fabric colors not being the ones she picked out. is right up there with 'the dog ate my homework').

As for Boo-boo Kitty's dress; what's with that zipper?

I'm sure they're terrified by your threat.

"pinkiesmall said...

What - EXACTLY - is offensive about that joke? I really want to know.

I have to admit I felt bad for Mila. She was expecting the kind of camaraderie that Anthony got when she did well, but she doesn't have the social skills to inspire it, so it came off as "crowing and prancing" and people just stared at her. Unlike some other previous contestants, I don't think she's obnoxious by choice, just awkward and insecure, and of course the interviewers are encouraging her to say arrogant things. So I feel bad for her. And she is talented. Didn't care for this dress, though: wrong for a cover, not pretty, not new.

I just don't understand how Boo-Boo Kitty could look at her dress and not see that it screamed "bridesmaid" - I'm with Gary, would have been real ok with a double auf of these two sweet but clueless white girls.

Mila, on the other hand, is old enough to know better. She saw this assignment as another opportunity to do her color blocking - only this time she picked colors that were about as bland as possible. B-O-R-I-N-G!

srq

I like the damn thing. (Mila's dress)

Mila's dress was just awful. And her excuse about that color looking more peach initially is still lame...She was going to use PEACH instead of ACE BANDAGE! Still bad. Still waaaayyy off the mark. And the complaint about the lack of congrats on the prev episode was laugh-out-loud funny. If I were there when she strutted in the room bragging about being second, I might have punched her in the mouth.

If constant approval is that important to Mila, she is in the wrong business. She needs to stitch up a thicker skin. Preferably not color-blocked

Oh Boo Boo Kitty, your dress was wrong for the challenge in every way, except that it was a garment for a female. That is all that was right. The wrongs: color, cut, concept, and making it Heidi-worthy.

Maybe they need to start providing the covers from sponsor magazines. MC has oodles of text, and what might fly on W will look insane on an MC cover.

Seems like a lot of the designers are not familiar with MC covers. That can't be, can it?

This week should have been a double elimination - Anna and BBK.

Oh yes, forgot to add: the zipper on the outside of Boo Boo's outfit was bizarre. Didn't look intentional, as it could on an edgy, punk look. It just looked all kinds of wrong.

I agree - When Boo Boo Kitty's dress turned around, the first thing I blurted out was, WTF?! Doesn't she even know how to hem a circle skirt?

And I wanted to bitch slap Mila into next week when she started whining about not getting hugs. I felt like saying, "Oh honey, just wait until TLo get their claws into you this week. Then you won't need hugs. You'll need an IV of Vodka."

I think both of them have worn out their welcome. But then I'm wearing my cranky pants today.

janeane in the bottom 2 is bullshit

mila is a clear favorite, she might even make it to the final 3 because judges / producers love her

I don't have a problem with Mila, and I like the other things she's made, but that dress is just hideous. Just. awful.

I gave her intelligence more credit than that.

"Does ANYTHING about this entry make sense to you?" The answer is NOOOOO, especially the part where she didn't go home. And then in a twist of fate her model did go home, and I thought she was darling.

And yeah fellas let's knock off the Special Olympics jokes--I know Obama did it, but that doesn't make it right.

OOO, ooo,
I think I've got it.

Mila did pay attention but she has observed that even more than showing off her face/boobs, Heidi LOVING super short, would prefer that if she can only show 1/3 of her body on the cover, Heidi's choice would be waist to upper thighs,.... therfore that is where Mila, chose to put the detaiing/focus.

What was with the bottom of the zipper on Janeane's dress?

Why even hem the bottom of the skirt? It won't show on the magazine cover.

As for those wondering whether any contestant has seen a copy of Marie Claire, there are blowups from several recent issues on the design room walls.

OK, let me break down what TLo said about the Special Olympics.

In the Special Olympics, competitors are often congratulated for coming in second, finishing a competition, or even just participating. Which is nice. Project Runway is not like this.

Where in that did TLo make fun of the Special Olympics or the people who participate in them? Is it possible that some people are being just a tad oversensitive?

Nah....

When I saw these dresses come down the runway, I thought to myself Heidi wouldn't be caught dead in either one of these disasters. I can't believe that either Mila or Boo-Boo actually thought they were desiging for Heidi! WTF, indeed.

Both of these dresses are just plain BUTT FUCK UGLY. It would not matter what color the fabric is or what quality the execution is, the design of these dresses is just plain BUTT FUCK UGLY.

Very odd. It is on the outside of the dress, that's for sure. And the bottom is hanging free.

Is it GLUED on??!!

I think both designs had potential to be really cute and both suffered from lack of time. "boo boo kitty"'s asymmetrical hem looked like a cute idea she'd never attempted before so she didn't know what the proportions ought to be. And no time to fix.

Mila's would have been a very cute dress, better executed.

Of course, you're right - neither paid a whit of attention to the requirements of the magazine cover.

Just out of curiosity, why is Janeane called Boo Boo Kitty?

Mila is starting to look like a serious bunny boiler. When have the designers ever hugged and congratulated for coming in second? Did she run into the back room this week and say, "Bottom three!!!" and wonder why no one was high-fiving her?

A one-trick bunny boiler at that. I did love her comment that the fabric was peachier in her hands. I wanted Michael to say, "Well, honey, there's nothing peachy about that outfit!"

WTF is exactly right. I was literally screaming at the tv as designer after designer chose nudes, neutrals and colors that would look AWFUL on Heidi.

Heidi was right when she made the comment about self tanner and then Mila had the audacity to say it looked more "peachy." I wanted to scream peachy still washes Heidi out Mila.

It was surprising at how FEW designers considered colors that would complement Heidi's natural coloring.

I was also shocked at the HORRIFIC construction with the color blocking on Mila's dress. Not only was the coloring off BUT the dress itself was horribly constructed.

Am I the only one who thinks Mila looks like a Romulan? Not that it matters....

thanks for the afternoon laugh, Gorgeous!

Boo Boo Kitty is a boring designer. Her final collection is a snore. Even though I love the BBK name, go home, please. It should have been a double white bread elimination.

Mila, good god, woman. Get a life. When you're a needy little vampire begging for attention, you're going to get snubbed. Who wants to deal with that shit coming from a 40 year old woman? And the color blocking is tired already. Can you do anything else? This was a sad little dress.

On the subject of the MC magazine covers, would you just please check this cover, from the Marie Claire of April 2009.

http://cdn.buzznet.com/media-cdn/jj1/headlines/2009/03/mandy-moore-marie-claire-april-2009.jpg

It has neutral colors, trousers (whole look is shown), a vest, print.

Just google it and you'd find thrillions of spring MC featuring no-color looks...

Not that they shouldn't have listen to the editor, but this sudden common knowledge of how covers are exactly like has me totally puzzled.

@Anon 3:02:
Janeane is called Boo Boo Kitty because she cried at the drop of a hat in the first episode. You should look back for the T Lo recap. Funny screen shots.

She's pulled it together since then, which is a sincere disappointment to many of us who were looking to make a drinking game out of it or something.

Hahah I called it, bitches! Last week I noted her previous circle track suit and star dress, and said I couldn't wait for her diamond-shape outfit this week. And she delivered!

Both of these are awful. Strange that they all made really strong looks out of potato sacks and then crashed and burned on all the consecutive pretty dress challenges.

More tears from the Boo Boo Kitty! We demand it! That's obviously the only reason she's still in play.

The torso-cropped view of Boo Boo Kitty's outfit makes me think of a superhero costume (possibly for one of the Jetsons) - amusing, but definitely not what the assignment was. If the skirt were short it might also be an ice-skating outfit - and it wouldn't be the only one from this week's show. Then again, when watching the Winter Olympics, lots of things start to look like ice-skating outfits {grin}.

[Side note: I saw DSquared on a talk show today; turns out they got to carry the Olympic torch for a bit - they did it wearing tuxedos - and designed some of the outfits for the opening ceremony.]

If Mila had chosen candy colors -- bright candy colors -- and made the dress even more body-hugging than it is, she might've made it into the top 3.

BBK's design isn't so bad (except for the capelet[?], which is atrocious), but completely wrong for the challenge. Guest judge tried too hard to be pithy and clever with her unnecessarily snarky criticisms.

PS - actually the Boo Boo look is most interesting thing she dones so far. If she'd used other fabric (and had better skills) it could've been interesting.

I guess the structured seaming and flouncy petticoat stuff is her signature. It shows something.

But, then, I'm the only one who kinda liked her red mess.

She desperately needs to take more skills classes. And, boy, her Bryant Park thing was uniformly awful, so I guess more time & money doesn't help her.

Blogger Brooklyn Bomber said...
"Guest judge tried too hard to be pithy and clever with her unnecessarily snarky criticisms."

Yeah, have to agree with this. You can tell when a guest judge views this as their opportunity to "stand out" for their bitchy comments. (Like that cracked-out, frizzy-haired stylist from last season. Oops, please forgive me for invoking the Season That Must Not Be Remembered.)

I think Boo Boo Kitty has time management issues, hence her tops are well made and her bottoms are rushed and crazy looking.

Mila reminded me of Lisa from TC (the unfortunate looking lady w/ the greasy hair) who complained because Richard Blaise and Stephanie Izzard didn't congratulate her on basically Forrest Gump'ing her way into the finals. Mila honey, put on your big girl pants and STFU. And stop making ugly dresses.

Mila's passive aggressiveness is working my last nerve, and I only have to deal with her for 45 minutes on television each week. Think what it must be like to actually live and work with her. It is obvious that none of the other designers particularly like her. Maybe that's why they didn't congratulate her on her second place finish.

I think Mila feels that since she's the oldest and most experienced, that the other designers should look up to her,or revere her or something. It's clear that she has experience and usually her garments are well made, but the 2 things that are going to trip her up are her ego and her aesthetics. Personally, I did not like her outfit that won the museum challenge. As someone mentioned before, I thought it looked like a killer whale costume or a penguin suit, and this one just didn't fit the challenge. The designers were given specific guidelines. What is the problem that some people think they don't have to follow them? Plus, it was specifically mentioned that the garment was going to be worn by Heidi. Hasn't this show been on the air long enough for any potential candidates to have a sense of what Heidi likes to wear? Do these people live under rocks that they have never seen a magazine cover or know who Heidi Klum is?

I think a whole lot of designers just don't like to use a lot of color. I'm frequently annoyed by the drabness of the selections coming down the runway on PR, even from designers I really like. That's probably why my favorites end up being the guys like Kayne (sp?) and Chris March and Anthony, who are in their element designing for pageant girls and drag queens :-)

good grief, most of the color choices were just stupid. WTF is right.

i still like mila, but really girl.

Mila is too brittle and BBK is too pliable. If they could graft a little of the other's personality into their own, then Mila could be more flexible and sensitive, and BBK could be more resistant to criticism.

I think I remember that on Mila's sketches the arrows were not so unfortunately placed, so something happened there. I still like her very graphic design sense, but the uninteresting decolletage and especially the color doomed this effort. Why, oh why, would you put a blonde in beige-y peach?

I'm really baffled by how many designers had trouble meeting the dictates of the challenge. I, too, noticed the hem and zipper on BBK's dress and assumed she'd just given up. I can't imagine she felt very good about her entry.

Mila, on the other hand...I'm very interested in seeing if she's able to do a Laura Bennett and bounce back from this challenge. I'd loooove to see more from her than the usual color blocking (which I was never a huge fan of) each week. And what's with the wonky sports bra-like necklines?

edina

I loved Janeane's cheer for Anthony on the runway, when she was probably stressing about her own future. And she seemed genuinely sad about Anna leaving.

The fit on Mila's on the top is horrible! It gives her a sports bra look. Bandage dresses (or any similar style) are supposed to make your curves look fantastic. She destroyed that girls "girls." and we know Heidi wouldn't stand for that.

I also just don't like Mila's aesthetic. Totally agree with the Shamu criticism and that last week's starstrocity was like a bad halloween costume. I hope she goes home and soon (although I am curious to see what she does with an octagon shape in a few weeks!)

A comment about the Special Olympics is not automatically offensive unless one is way over sensitive or politically correct. As has been pointed out, in this context it was meant to imply that Mila should not expect hugs and praise for not winning but placing second. This is so clearly not a slam on the Special Olympics or the participants. If you are that easily offended, this blog is not for you. Most of real life is probably not for you.

Mila was described by Amy Sarabi "as the designer you love to hate"--so I think the lack of popularity will continue.

She is whiny and insecure, but I don't mind that--Irina's manner really got on my nerves--nasally, humorless smack-talking--gro-annn!

That said, a different color scheme might have resulted in a workable dress--dark to light, say could have made the X at the center, the focus and created an attractive hourglass impression. But, wow, those colors were AWFUL.

Hope Mila pulls it back together a bit--she, Ben and Amy all interest me as designers.

Boo-boo Kitty is just a pretty-dress mess. She can go. I'm getting a little tired of Emilio, too, though he can sew. Jesse should be gone.

Boo boo kitty (love that name) should have been out and Mila after her. Anna's outfit may have been boring but at least is wasn't EYE-SEARING like these two looks. Also Mila bragging and bitching...by my count one of the weakest designers and shes only had one good look so far--the jacket. The dress last week...you expected praise for that? The giant stars??? SHIIIIIIIIIIITAAAAAAAAAAASTIIIIIIIC

Please read this blog and proceed to get the fuck over yourself.

raisin mountaineer

I have a friend who looks (!) and acts like Mila. Same attitudes, same expressions. Needy needy needy. And also very talented. It can be exhausting and annoying-- and exhilerating (sp) to be her friend-- one minute she's basking in glory (and deservedly so), and the next minute she's confronting me for not being "supportive" because I didn't lead the fray to sing her praises.

It's hard to say which side of Mila will win out-- but I'm still betting on her for Bryant Park. Her work might not be to everyone's taste (I happen to like it) but she has a clear point of view (yes, it's all color blocked but it's differently expressed every time--) and her execution is generally very good. She needed this take-down to get her focused on whose opinion really matters (the judges). I hope she bucks up and gets her act together.

Another terrible bunch of clothes from this uninspiring bunch. The preseason hype that the season 7 group was hyper talented was apparently just that--hype. And the challenges have been a bore (except for the burlap).

Or is it the one-day timeframe that is to blame for these underwhelming results? I don't know. It's great the show is back in NY, but otherwise, meh.

Ninety % of what came down the runway for the Heidi challenge was 1000 miles away from anything Heidi would ever deign to look at, never mind wear, and the most casual observer of Heidi would know that. WTF indeed!

Correct the hem, and I'd wear Boo Boo Kitty's dress any day. I really loved it. I do, however, recognize that it had nothing to do with the challenge.

"Gorgeous Things said: And I wanted to bitch slap Mila into next week when she started whining about not getting hugs."

What I thought was funny about that was, later in the episode you saw everyone jump up and scream when Anthony announced he'd won.

--GothamTomato

Fringe Benefit, have you seen the collections from Bryant Park? There is definitely a lot of talent in S7.

I know people love to beat up on Mila, but just like Emilio's comment, it seemed to me that the producers are asking some really leading questions, like "Mila, what do you find disturbing in the behavior of others?".

I am also getting really tired of the promos/previews saying that something exciting *first time ever* or catfightery or romance (S6 silver pants) is going to happen, and then nothing happens.... Dump B-M.

This is America, bitch. We don't congratulate people for coming in second. Except maybe at the Olympics--but they get jewelry.

Janeane's was a disaster from head to toe. Even the frippery at the top looked like she'd been hacking at it with scissors. This is the second week she's done a jacked-up hemline; last week it was better executed, but it was the same design. She needed to go home, like, two weeks ago.

If Mila decided to work with a difficult fabric (which I think she did, right?), she needed to be able to do it right. It was just horribly executed, which is not like Mila. I think someone else used similar fabric (Emilio?) and did it well.

Mila did exactly the OPPOSITE of the challenge: the color wasn't there, the detailing was on the bottom, it didn't look like Spring, and it wasn't right for Heidi. She batted .1000 on failure.

Seriously, I don't know why Tim doesn't dislike Mila the way he dislikes Emilio. She's arrogant AND at least half crazy.

where is everyone getting the info that tim doesn't like emelio? i loved emilios first dress. absolutely loved it and would wear it in a second. i was hoping he'd go far.

bitchybitchybitchy

I don't get the "Poor Mila, no one Wuves me for being in the top two" vibe that is coming from this gal. She's a grown woman on a reality TV competition, after all.
And, she is not as endearing as, say, Miss Sophia or Seth Aaron.

Her color blocking failed her this time, but I think that even if Mila had chosen colors that were more evocative of spring that this design wasn't going to please Ms. Seal-after all, Seal already knows the way to Heidi's funbox....

The more I see Mila the more she reminds me of Jessica Walter in that "Play Misty for Me" movie -- I am always waiting for her to pick up the nearest sharp object and scream

Bringing in the Special Olympics was unnecessary, TLo.

ShivaDiva: "Both of these are awful. Strange that they all made really strong looks out of potato sacks and then crashed and burned on all the consecutive pretty dress challenges."

This is why I think every season needs a good dose of crazy challenges. I find it leads to better outfits.

In my head there is a peach and grey color blocked outfit that looks good. Mila's isn't it, but the idea still seems okay (maybe not for a magazine cover or for Heidi)

I know people love to beat up on Mila, but just like Emilio's comment, it seemed to me that the producers are asking some really leading questions, like "Mila, what do you find disturbing in the behavior of others?".

Uh, I think they actually ask things like this: when you were second last time, after you came to the room, people didn't congratulate you, what do you think it's up with people, you think it could be jelousy, tell us...

I thought she was completely off with this comment, but I don't think she's arrogant, if any thing, utterly insecure, lacking confidence and emotionally needy. I don't get the hate either.

I got a little bitchy the other day over a post that rubbed me the wrong way. I realize reading this post that it'd be almost impossible to not rub SOMEONE out there the wrong way. You guys are really sweet, and funny as hell. I know you mean no harm so I offer an apology for what I can now see was an over reaction. I'd rather the occasional rub than the possiblily of you becoming overly PC and bland.
Love you guys,

"I thought she was completely off with this comment, but I don't think she's arrogant, if any thing, utterly insecure, lacking confidence and emotionally needy. I don't get the hate either."

Well, we need someone to hate, else where's the drama? Apart from that, some reasons:

a). Crowing "I'm second" in front of the other designers who were not was tacky and mean-spirited, even if she didn't expect them to hug her. Commenting about it was just the whipped cream and cherry on the bitch sundae she had already made.

b). She seemed to make Jonathan do more than his share of the work in the "couples" challenge while she obsessed over the jacket.

c). My memory was that she was a little bitchy to Miss Sophia. YMMV

Finally, don't get me started on the "I looked like peach" line. I do believe that it looked peachy in Mood, but it was still a terrible color for this challenge. Yes, its Spring-ish in bridal party kind of way, but it's not a color for Heidi and I thought the editor mentioned something about "vibrant" and eye-catching for a "strong," "sexy," "confident" woman. Peach and grey just don't say that.

I'm quite pissed by Boo Boo kitty. She always have hysteria in the workroom but it does not reflect to her bland designs.

I don't know what they were thinking, the colors are way off.

omg - when Milla uttered that b.s. I thought the very same thing! WHAT THE FUCK! what a stupid, immature, dumb bitch. she really does need to get over her self and grow up. such a baby. who wants to buy cloths from a baby.

Mila is very talented but she needs to get the f over herself.

"WHAT THE FUCKETY-FUCK-FUCK?!?"

ROFLMAO.

Did ANYONE pay attention to the brief?

EXACTLY!!

For a lot of reasons this was one of my favorite episodes in a long time-- interesting challenge, crazy ouchfits, insane commentary from the designers, hilarious comments from the regular judges, appropriately snarky guest judge, big ass prize etc etc etc, but somehow I think the lack of listening skills must be driving Sir Tim around the bend.

What the fuckety fuck indeed!

Suz

Two things:

1. My cat's name is Boo. I occasionally call him Boo Boo Kitty. Every time I read that nickname it cracks me up. :)

2. Simmer down about the Special Olympics already. Read Anon 2:49. And stop telling TLo how to write their own blog.

From the front, BooBoo's model looked as if she were wearing seaweed straps over her shoulders, perhaps to lug a heavy seaweed backpack to and from ocean college?

When I think 'cover shot' I think 'beige!' WTF indeed. Designers who apparently never stand in line at the grocery store? grab a mag at the airport? sit in a dentist office? fashion in a vacuuum...the vacuum of their mind. love it.

how much do we love our guest judge this week? much.

Am I the only one who thinks Mila looks like a Romulan? Not that it matters....

OMG! You are so right, she really does.

Her dress was truly ugly. The colors, the craftsmanship, the presentation, all sucked. I hated it worse than Boo Boo Kitty's. Regardless of what the producers are doing behind the scenes, they can't hide ugly.

A seriously what-the-fuckety-fuck-fuck situation here.

LOL. Boys, my vocabulary increases every day by reading your posts.

Janeane's is cute and original. But the main color does NOT work well for a cover.

Mila's would have been fine had she done the main part of the dress in deep purple or another more striking color.

I was so irritated that the judges didn't call Mila out for her shitty construction on this one. Bad enough that it was pointing at the hoo-hoo, but most of the pooches in the seams were in the hoo-hoo area, too.

She's so snotty, and she's really worn thin with me.

When she complained about no one being happy for her, hubby and I both yelled at the TV "because you're a bitch!!!"

LOL I hope she REALLY enjoyed everyone's reaction to Anthony's win. If you're going to be snooty, you've got to take it all the way like Meana Irina--no getting your feelings hurt!

I think Mrs. Samuel would wear Anna's, I don't think she'd be caught dead in Janeane's. And they were supposed to be designing for her.

You obviously haven't traveled much lately and have been lucky with your teeth, or else you'd have seen PLENTY of cover shots in beig, including this month VF and various Marie Claires. Incidentally, Heidi Klum was wearing beig in February's US InStyle cover (otherwise pure Heidi, shinny, tight and tacky and funnily, a one-shoulder dress like Anthony's). I challenge you to google-image a cover of Ms Seal dress in bright colors. In page 10 I haven't yet come across one (plenty of blacks and nudes though) and the girl has done some covers (granted, in many of them she's not wearing much in terms of clothes, bright or not).

fashion.fanatic

wow. that special olympics comment was cold, even for you guys.

Don't you think you should be leaving politically incorrect and hurtful comments out of a fashion blog? That Special Olympics comment was uncalled for and I hope that I never see anything like that again on this site.

CourtneyL asked where is everyone getting the info that tim doesn't like emelio?

Read his blog at the Project Runway site and watch the video recaps he posts on his Facebook page.

That's where we're getting it.

"Am I the only one who thinks Mila looks like a Romulan? Not that it matters...." Priceless..

And I thought she was in league with the Kardashians(Sorry, nerd joke).

I fell asleep 10 minutes into this episode and haven't caught a repeat yet. Looking at these dresses for the first time, I'm shocked to see how off the mark they are from the challenge requirements.

In an interview pre-season, Tim said something about this being the season where designers all "sauntered" about (or something similar). He complained the designers didn't have the sense of urgency of previous seasons. This episode seemed like an example of this attitude. Not that they didn't rush to complete their designs, but more that each seems to be in their own world, doing their own thing, without much regard to what the challenge required.

Hate everything about Boo Boo's dress. I cannot imagine Heidi EVER wearing anything remotely like this. Should have been a double elimination with Anna. The zipper looks like it was put in backwards for goodness sakes! Sweet girl but not made for reality TV.

Can't comment on Mila's whiney attitude as I didn't see the enitre episode, but her dress was ugly. Very poorly executed in a terrible fabric choice. But I could see Heidi at least wearing something like it - in different colors and sewn correctly it could have a Heidi vibe to it.

Roadmap to my funbox is going into my next Craig's List ad.

Don't they congratulate everybody who finishes in the Special Olympics? That's what TLo was talking about, right?

I'm missing as to how it's offensive, but YMMV. If you want to find something offensive, you will on this blog. LOL

Do you think anybody congratulated the Colts for "finishing second" in the Super Bowl, Mila?

I remember when Mila seemed to hold Anthony responsible for "her" model preferring to work with him. She is a piece of work.

That's when he said, "I lef' my feelin's back in Atlanta." LOL

Not really a fan of Mila as much as when we first met her in the "Meet the Designers" posts. I really want to like her, but it seems more and more that she feels like she's entitled to more... praise/props?

Hopefully her clothes will start getting better, (or spectacularly worse - whichever is best to talk about), otherwise it will be easy for me to writer her off as the "Irina" of the season. Talented enough, but annoying to listen to.

I've never much liked Mila's stuff. I mean, the 'track suit' wasn't, really. It was a speed skating outfit with a backwards Snuggie thrown over the top. Didn't like the Campbell's dress. So far, I've actually hated everything she's done. Her arrogance and bumptiousness doesn't help, either. Last season, I hated Irina. This season, I hate Mila.

"I think Mila feels that since she's the oldest and most experienced, that the other designers should look up to her,or revere her or something."

Mila, although she looks the oldest, is not actually the oldest. That would be Emilio, who is 43 (unless Mila is lying about her age).

Her comment was hilariously WTF.

Who the heck congratulates somebody for coming in second place?!?!?

"HELL YEAH, SECOND PLACE!!! HI FIVE, YOU ROOL!!!"

And even weirder, who wants to be congratulated for coming in second place?

"Second place, gimmee some love!"

She's a weird one.

I wonder if they had cheered others for coming in second, otherwise why would she feel slighted? She seems insecure. I don't know why the model choosing another designer threw her so much. I do like her aesthetic and her final runway was impressive. The focus on the coat in the museum challenge was appropriate because that was the key piece. It wasn't the pants that won that challenge.

It's a frickin blog, people. TLO can say whatever the hell they want! You sensitive types can stop reading at any point.

I don't get the Mila love, either. I talked about that with my mom, who doesn't mind her at all, but she did start the conversation with, "Have you seen that Mila? 40? She is shaving some years off."

"Mila reminded me of Lisa from TC (the unfortunate looking lady w/ the greasy hair) who complained because Richard Blaise and Stephanie Izzard didn't congratulate her on basically Forrest Gump'ing her way into the finals."
Ah, the hated Lisa. And of course Blais had the best comment ever for her:
"You won the fucking bronze medal. Congratulations. There you go."

So, Mila. You won the fucking silver medal. Congratulations. There you go.

I didn't see Mila as Romulan at first, but now I do! I kept thinking The Grinch. And as self-congratulatory as she is, you'd think she wouldn't need the congrats of her competitors. I had such high hopes for her. Oh well.

Ohmygawsh. I wear better looking stuff than both pieces OTR from Marshall's. What a waste of my time watching these so-called experienced professionals.
Momica

OMG, thank you so much for talking about the Mila 2nd place complaint. When she was like "Number 2! Number 2!" and everybody sighed, I laughed for the rest of the episode.
