Tom and Lorenzo - Fashion, Television, Pop Culture

T LOunge

Mai Tais and Flaming Volcanoes for everyone!

Cristal Bar, Hong Kong
Designed by artist and designer Katrin Olina

Darlings, the destination tonight is Hong Kong, so dress fabulously.

So it's teams tonight and the above pic is ripe with possibilities regarding the challenge. Your mission is to, between drinks, predict what the hell they're doing this week.

In other news, Tom is STILL sick. He got better and we went through with a dinner party we had planned and the next day he was back doing his Garbo-as-Camille impersonation. You all didn't clap hard enough for Tom last week and now he might die! Are you happy now? Tom is going back to bed, Lorenzo's going to the gym, and we'll both be back here tonight to watch the show with y'all.

*airkisses*

Now, watch this:

We like Jonathan's clear, concise sociopathy here. It's exactly what we would be like on a reality show.

Also, so much for them not eliminating the interesting designers early on...

Aww...I'm going to miss her.

I can't believe the damn Free Willy coat won.

Ping is gone. Fuck Jesse.

Ping is gone. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Aww, sad. The show just got a bit more boring.

Models of the Runway, folks.

I love Ping, but it's not really a surprise that she got aufed. Her team's designs sucked, Jesse had to do most of the work, and she was the leader. The leaders almost always get the auf.

Send Ping's model home. she was a bitch.

Seth Aaron was awesome.

I hope the snotty model doesn't get chosen, and that Jesse is out next. What an ass.

Free Willy! HA!!

MK
Shiny, tight, short, and Tacky - duh Heidi's wardrobe

Go figure it was Jesse's model that spoke up on the runway.

Ping is out. I can't believe it. That's sad.

" Lo said...

The bitch needs. to. go.

I loved Mila's outfit, I thought it was cool looking.

So sad to see Ping go, I liked her signature look actually! Shame on Jesse for being a big baby about the whole thign and for that model for selling out Ping. Iwould have sent both Jesse and the model home for their attitude problems.

While I have hated her other work - I don't think she deserved the auf this week.
But SOO glad that Anthony is safe

Poor Ping. This was a good episode, but I was really disappointed in the looks for less and the winning look.

I hope the preview is not misleading and that Jesse's suckage really is recognized next week!

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

Mila won with that hideous coat. Wow!

WTF???

black spandex with a skunk stripe down the sides and an 80's baggy over shirt/jacket thingy..

I had the exact same jacket in the 80's that went with a teal dress and teal tank...I actually just donated it to goodwill last year in a massive spare room clean out.

Mila was my pick for bottom.

Wow I cannot figure out the judging..

heidi always had shitty taste but Nina and michael???

Did they replace them with Pod versions or give them brainwashing torture?

maybe a lobotomy in the off season?

now they all have Heidi tacky slut taste and it breaks my heart.

Tim was sure correct when he said the judging this season had him the most perplexed EVER, or however he phrased it.

Wow, I'm really sad now. Ping is gone.

Oooooh... Ping is out....

So happy about the win. Thought Mila wouldn't get it because of the 2nd look.
But that coat was TO DIE FOR. The whole look really. And by miles the best thing in that runway. There was really no competition. A really superb top-of-the-mark look in a bit of a let down challenge.

-Don

This bitch needs to go.

I hope they send Jesse's model home whatever her name is.

Awww, Brandise's tough-cookie veneer is only frosting deep.

Wow, Megan was more of a bitch that I thought.

Her name is Megan.

Send MegaBitch home!!!!!!!!!!

Tim loved that coat, so I don't think this is a case where he disagreed with the judges.

Seriously, that look was by far the best out there in the competition today, but also superb out of that context. Outstanding. And very obvious that Nina would love it.

I love Jonathan's model.

Wow, I hope Jesse's model goes instead of Ping's. How vile.

I actually teared up a bit for Ping.

SEND. MEGAN. HOME.

mega-bitch megan needs to go home

MEGAN. IS. A. BITCH. CAMPAIGN.

"Jesse handled working with Ping REAL WELL" said Megan

That bitch is as dumb as piece of shit

I stand corrected! Ping goes home and I am relieved cuz honestly, the delusional was getting too much.

Does she have POV and potential? Absolutely! But can we please stop pretending that she basically draped fabric / burlap on her model and sent it down the runway? And by "we" I mean the judges.

She should be auf'd last week.

Ping needs to realise that although she is gutsy and did the best she could - she did not produce good work. Good luck to her.

Anthony got very lucky. Congrats to Mila for her couture leisure suit that may be growing on me =) hahahah

That said, Monique is prettier than Brandeis or whatever.

To be fair - Megan was JESSE'S model not Ping's.

So actually she stood up FOR her designer. If Jesse doesn't stick with her - THEN he is a jack-ass

Oh, I love Jonathan's model. She's so cool.

Sophia is too serious.

"ASK said...

True.

Ha! They all hate Megan. Ask Jesse for a hug bitch.

Yeah, sadly, I think we're stuck with Megan, although I hope we don't lose Monique as a result.

So sad, Ping is gone :(

NOOOOO NOT MY PING!!!!!!!!!

MONIQUE!!!!!!

I'm sad but it was time for Ping to go. Her design was the worst.

megan is a jerk. i watched her video blog and she was complaining about jesse after last week's episode. and SHE is the one who asked for pants last week

Shut up Megan.

raisin mountaineer

I'm only watching on the web with screen caps from Blogging Project Runway, but I picked the "whale coat" as you all are putting it for the winner. I liked the cohesion of the two looks (the yellow and black could have been from the same collection) and I loved the yellow lining in the coat. Only a still look, though. I'll have to see how it walks.

I didn't think Anthony's was so bad. The "dress for less" was pretty. Again, in a screen capture. Also, looking at the looks, I thought that the harem pants must be Ping since she talked about making pants...

But I am relieved to see Ping go home. She is all personality and I enjoy watching her, but really, if I want to obsess over a reality show based on personality, I'd pick a different one. I am obsessed with sewing, so I'd rather see the strong sewers stay.

My pick for Bryant Park: Emilio, Mila and Jonathon. And with those last two snarky kids along for the ride (along with Emilio's Epperson-like calm) I think it could be really, really fun.

you sure do girl. you have a LOT to learn.

MONIQUE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

I love Holly too and she's a great walker.

It seems very disingenuous these bitches ripping and ripping on her - she told the truth AND stuck up for her designer. She is their competition and what she is supposed to lie and throw HER designer under the bus?

How the fuck did that penguin thing win?

SEND. MEGAN. HOME. CAMPAIGN.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE HATERS OF MODELS WHO THROW DESIGNERS UNDER THE BUS.

I don't like how the two models were bolstering Megan.

Being a model isn't about voicing your opinion, it's about working the hell out of what you have. The judges are meant to judge on what they see, not what happened in the back. Isn't that why Tim isn't allowed to speak with the judges?

Bleh. She isn't even as amusing as Morgana. Miss the old school model drama.

Exactly, there was no need for that.

NOT MY PING!!!!!!!!

I'm still sad : (

I still don't understand how a team that has two good looks doesn't win...or was the second look discounted for anything unless it was a disaster? The judges hated Mila's second look...shouldn't that count for something?

Time to choose the models.

Is Heidi wearing Uli?

XO
T Lo

Megan is fucking picked by Jesse. Bitches have to stick together.

OK Jess the delay was mean - but you did right by Megan.

WOW!!!!!! Jesus!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!

MATTHEW WILLIAMSON IS SO CUTE!!

i have a new crush

Sophia is OUT. Wow, they hate her.

Isn't Sophia the one they complained about her not smiling?

Sophia is a great model but she is full of herself.

Well, well well NINA.
I think some brown would be welcome with all that BLACK on the runway.

I've been wondering whether Ping still would have gone home without Megan saying that she didn't fit her.

I think the answer to this remains a yes. Anthony was just, in the words of Michael a cotillion gone horribly wrong, but it's still interesting. Ping's was basically just a poorly made dress (or top and shorts, can't remember) covered up by fabric. (Can't get over the fact the same fabric seem to be stapled to her ass either.)

As for those who hate Jesse for acting that way, well wouldn't you? Look I'm not defending what he did but he needed to make sure they don't send a nude model down the runway (or one swathed in fabric), and seeing as how Ping seems to be very all over the place it required a little more prodding.

If they hadn't made Ping a team leader, maybe she would have had a chance to stay. Not liking the pre-selected team leaders.

Yeah, I agree. As soon as they said Ping was a team leader, I though, well she's going home tonight.

Fuck? A second look?

Jesse looks like Christian Bale in some shots.

~nods~ I've said as much previously. Specifically Christian Bale circa Patrick Bateman. Minus the homicidal narcissistic thing. (Maybe. Ha.)

Also, Maya and Seth Aaron have really been growing on me. I like their creative energies.

Nice hooker synthetic something LOL

"Jesse looks like Christian Bale in some shots."

He does. LOL

I actually cried. Ping was my favorite designer : (

Ping and Jesse do not work well together.

Don't tell me anything. Not reading the previous comments yet : )

BTW what happened to the Red for Ms. McDonald?

"Anonymous said...

BTW what happened to the Red for Ms. McDonald?"

Right.

Great episode.

Yes, Megan was asked her opinion; BECAUSE, as Heidi said, she looked like she wanted to say something. She was making facial expressions that drew attention to herself which in turn prompted Heidi to question her. I don't think it was necessary or her place to open her mouth unless they were questioning all of the models. Ping would have gone home on her own, imo. I don't think the way she works is favorable to a competition where one has to be able to think & react quickly and be decisive.

I enjoyed her quirkiness. I can't say that I enjoy Jesse at all. I cringed listening to all of them on the runway discussing their designs.

It was her time to go. She's way roo conceptual for this show.

Well, Ping dumped her model after she DEFENDED HER on the runway, so I think instant karma came and got her. (Well, few-days-later karma.)

I was very confused with the challenge.

"They're both really ugly." Thank you Nina!

"trying to reign in the crazy" sad but true.

A LOT of drama and ugly dresses.

Showed their asses:

1. Jesse. I had him marked down for a nasty piece of work from the first episode. (Emilio is right behind him in the bastard race.)

2. Megan. She's young so I can grudgingly give her a pass but that was terrible. Jesse will not make it though and she will go with him so justice will be done.

3. The judges for picking an athletic outfit when their inspirations were all gowns and cocktail dresses. Plus the Orca look was as old fashioned as Anthony's ball gown and a whole lot uglier.

Jesus was a bit mean but remember how Sophia acted last week. Payback is a - well, I've cussed enough.

Showed class

1. Seth for claiming 50% of the responsibility. I'm starting to love him madly. Anthony too; he’s genuine and funny.

"Ping and Jesse are like Lucy and Ricky." LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Poor Ping.

Sophia is a great model. Too bad she's gone.

Not surprised by the elimination.

"I'm stacked packed and ready to attack!"

LOLOLOLOLOL I love him!

I do not understand all of the PING love. I don't have any hatred for her but I certainly don't care for her either.
She's LOUD, erratic, overbearing and like ADHD fully wound all of the time. She doesn't listen to others at all, she interrupts them and talks over them The first 2 episodes if I recall she didn't let the judges ever finish a sentence without interrupting to explain or defend something. People overlook all of that because she is a quirky Asian gal who speaks broken English.

Not to mention she is the type who is so erratic and all over the place that when she is finally forced to hear critism she starts crying or gets all whiny and makes herself a victim.

Jesse wasn't very user friendly towards her and didn't play nice but I don't get why people hate him. He was probably afraid for his survival..Ping got a pass 2 weeks in a row for an unfinshed blobs of fabric and an ass baring skirt.
I think he was thinking that she would always get a pass for entertainment and whacky personality value and assumed he would be sent home if they fell in the bottom.
It's also interesting to hear that it was HIS MODEL who asked for burlap pants?!?! WTF? I don't think he's the villan he is being made out to be, time will tell I guess.

Nina's judgment has always been suspect, IMO. I'll say it again, remember the toilet dress? It has amused me how she has been deified since she missed part of last season. I'm surprised at Michael, though. I'm also surprised that they didn't like the second look and picked them to win anyway.

I am so glad that Ping's ineptitude didn't get a deserving designer kicked off. When I saw that she was paired with Jesse, I figured it was a win-win. Neither of them is a contender, and both are quite annoying.

Lovelovelovelove Anthony!

TLo: "Is Heidi wearing Uli?"

Oh, my god, is she? I thought there was something familiar but I couldn't figure out what it was. It wouldn't surprise me if it is.

P.S. Tom, you should be fast asleep by now!

"Jesus was a bit mean"--wow, that's not a phrase you see everyday. LOL

I was so excited to see Heidi wearing Uli. I'm sure that one was in Uli's final collection.

Ping's quirky was moving into annoying, so I'm glad she left before I started to hate her. Although she was nuts, Cap'n Jack didn't come out looking too good. I thought Disney only hired happy people? And Jay - what a slacker. Was also glad to see the sour, grumpy model go home to. I don't care how well she walks, she ruins it with that stuck up/pissed off look on her mug.

Get well Tom!

"Ellen M said...

LOLOLOLOLOL True.

Jesus was a bitch : )

What a snoozer of an episode. I'm sad to see Ping go, and I personally would have sent Anthony home, but at the same time I think it was a toss-up between the two.

I also don't disagree with the winner...but my apathy mainly derives from the fact that NOTHING out there caught my interest. Not one garment.

Does anybody have any idea of the brand of Ping's glasses? I simply must have a pair!

So we show the designers some museum pieces, tell them to create their own timeless pieces, and then the judges bash them for not being fashion forward? Slight disconnect between the brief and the judging, maybe?

One big surprise - a superhero costume is the winning design, but it wasn't made by Ben! Sorry, Ben, watch out for that Romulan, she's crafty.

And my sympathies for anyone else who winds up in the bottom two with Anthony. The producers are never gonna give him up. That queen is reality TV gold.

That is so true.

I loved Ping in the beginning but in 2 short episodes she demonstrated she really had no clue.

I think tonight proved the only similarity between Seth and ALP is personal style. I think Seth is a class act and I will be happy to root for him.

Ms. Sophia is on life support. I hope she stays because she makes me laugh but... tic toc...

Oh SNAP. Tim just said this about Emilio in his Tim's Take blog (looks like Emilio is becoming Tim's new Vincent, but with more talent):

"Team Emilio and Anna created a look that, for me, was the "mother version" of the look created by Janeane and Ben. It was another basic dress with a shrug, but without the Team Janeane design's youthfulness and clean silhouette. I wasn't a fan. Emilio had the audacity to say that he "had to pull back" his design, because "*her* experience is so limited," referring to Anna. (It's only our third challenge and already his superiority and arrogance are wearing thin with me.)

LOL!!!!!

I'm pretty ambivalent about the outcome. I was all Team Ping in the beginning, but she just clearly wasn't cut out for this.
As for the team dynamic, I think they're both at fault. Jesse came across too strong and like an ass at first, but then it seemed Ping was being oddly aggressive or stand-offish and also a horrible leader. It just shows you what editing can do - Jesse's at fault at first, then later and through Models of the Runway, Ping is the bad guy. Oh well, oil and water. For what it's worth, I thought their signature look was great until the fabric came off Brandise's arm...

I was generally underwhelmed but really liked Jesus and Amy this week. But we should all know by now that separates and sportswear are going to win out so it was almost a sure thing for Mila. Not to mention it totally and obviously fits into who Mila is as a designer, that kind of semi-mod thing. I also didn't think their look-for-less was bad at all, yeah it's a baby doll dress, but it was a good one. (Have things really changed that much that those were in the top a few seasons back and now they're getting panned?)

One more thing regarding Jesse - judging from Megan's comment at the end of MotR, it looks like he sticks around another week.

Oh and I totally agree with what what Brent posted above from Tim. Emilio started off as a big mystery and is turning into kind of an annoying ego really quick. Everyone knows Anna isn't a master tailor or anything yet, no need to mouth off about it.

not surprised at who lost, even though I was very sad to see it.

who won, now THAT was shocking...

-E

I don't like Mila anymore. I haven't seen the show and I miss Ping already.

Oh. My. GOODNESS!

Seth Aaron:
"Gimme sum of that brown sugar!"
"And that's my fault."
"This was my design and I stand behind it."

What a fucking CUTE button! I heart him now!

Of course I already knew Anthony was AbFab.

And may I be the first to say that this season is not just a GIANT LEAP from S6, but has the potential to be the best season yet? I am LOVING it!

Feel better Tom! Speaking of Tom, my comfort food is Tom Kha Gai soup from your local Thai restaurant-- when made well, it is creamy and chickeny and has just enough ginger and cilantro to be good for sore throats...
Please let us know if it was an Uli! I love her (say this with a Long Island accent to get the full effect)--
nycowgirl

Anthony will for ever in my mind be etched as the MacDonald's dress man.

I'm sorry to go really off topic...but did anybody see American Idol last tuesday. It was the LA auditions and there he was...DANIEL FRANCO! He said: "If Susan Boyle and Adam Lambert were to have sex, I'd be their child"

I'm sorry, I just had to get this off my chest.

I think Jonathan would be a little tiger in bed.

I don't know if the subject of $500 to be spent on fabric at Mood (according to Tim, the largest amount yet on PR), has been addressed here, but WTF????
I saw absolutely NO fabric from ANY designer that screamed $500!!!
A lot of it looked like cheap charmeuse from a bargain remnant shop.
Not one of my favorite episodes. Not even as good as TFS' couture challenge.

I am loving PR this season. Even if this challenge was not as innovative as last week's. it fulfilled some things on our wish list - they finally get some real money and real time.

Ping - Love her vision, but that's where it remains. She has no idea of how to take that vision and make it into a garment. She sees shapes and she sees draping, but there is nothing really coherent, hat's why she needs to try it on herself and that's why she can't sketch or articulate what she wants. Jesse was right to worry and fret, she basically was planning to send a model on the runway holding up assorted fabrics. I don't think he was trying to second guess her or change her design, I think he was trying to figure out what the hell she was going for. It was confusing to him as well as the judges. I was 100% on the Ping court, even after last week's disaster. But this week showed that she is clearly a weak designer. She LOVED what she sent on the runway.

Winning look: totally awesome and exactly what you would see in a museum. She took all the time to work on the jacket because she knew that IT was the signature look. Everything else had to be made well but the jacket had to be impeccable, and it was. She also was "thoughtful" in the styling and pulled a complete and finished look. while the seashell look was interesting, it was not polished, although their second look was polished. But the win had to go to the signature look, and this jacket was the best thing that walked down the runway,

Models - STFU. Seriously, the models need not have an opinion on the design or the designers. The finished garment is the only thing that needs to speak, and the designers can defend it when needed. I remember an episode in PR Canada when a designer defended a resort look that was all in beige green and khaki. She explained that it was a safari resort in South Africa and the color scheme made sense. The models cannot defend a garment, and seriously, does the designer have to be BFF with each of his models? Ping's working style was lacking on many fronts, but the model was immature inexperienced and out of line.

Well, as much as I wanted to see Megan go, I was just as glad to see Sophia gone. This whole hairspray allergy really limits her as a model, and the fact that she never smiles is off-putting. what I don't understand is all the anger toward Megan for throwing the designer "under the bus" when Sara did the same thing last week and no one got as upset over it.
Personally, I don't think the models should be allowed to speak on the runway. It's unprofessional, and as someone mentioned before, their job is to sell the garment to the judges. Period. Heidi should have told Megan to NEVER make faces on the runway again and that PR is about the designers, not Megan. If she has opinions, save them for the model show or shut up.
I hope Jesse and Megan are gone next week. Really. I'm sick of both of them already and its only been 3 weeks.
I LOVE Anthony, and after Seth Aaron stepped up to the plate last night, I'm liking him more and more. That was a classy thing to do and I think that move was what kept their team in the game over Capt. Bitchypants and Ping.

Go Seth Aaron! I was ambivalent about him before but after his "it's my fault" and "this was 50-50" I think he's fantastic. Way to man up and take responsibility. Way not to be the typical reality show contestant and be someone with character.

Jesse, on the other hand, has proven himself to be a pouting, spoilt child. Way to go, dude. The only straight guy on the show is the least manly of the bunch.

I didn't hate the winning entry as much as most, but the 2nd look of the Mila/Jonathon team was a fail, so I would have not given them the win.
Jay/Maya- Winners in my book. Their signature look was a win. And their 2nd look was better than the original inspiration look.

Jesus/?, this team had one of the better 2nd looks and his signature look was definately "Jesus". High middle.

Emilio/Anna- His signature look had some excellent details, would have liked some of that applique work to make it "his" overall too subtle for a signature look. The 2nd look I can't for the life of me figure out which team they were inspired by, it looks like Anna was in charge of this look and she was inspired by the other 2 dresses that she already did.

Janiane/Ben- Utterly forgetable. That the inspired look created for $50 topped their signature look just about says it all.

Ping/Jesse- Oh hum. Yes I guess it was her time to go. Sig. look was awful and the 2nd look was worse.

Anthony/ Seth
The ball gown was pretty bad, esp. the skirt.
The 2nd look was not. I could see the Jesus influence. I didn't think it was ugly. Could have gone further for sure. Both of these guys have more to show us. Unlike Jesse and Anna, who should be next and next.

bitchybitchybitchy

Ms. Sophia is on life support. I hope she stays because she makes me laugh but... tic toc...

I don't see Anthony lasting much longer, given that this was his second time on the bottom, and his personal taste/style, which is not to MK's or Nina's standards.

I personally loved Maya's look, didn't entirely understand all of the judges' love for Mila's but, they can bring Matthew Williamson back anytime as a guest judge-cute, cute, cute!

Poor Anthony...He said he left his feelings in Atlanta but I fear he needs to send via priority mail a UPS box back to Atlanta containing other attitudes he brought to NYC. The black and yellow gown looks like a two day knock-off makeover from the Dior 2010 Spring collection and it has Atlanta Junior League Charity Ball held at the Piedmont Driving Club written all over it. Anthony has talent but he needs to fine tune his talent to a NYC state of mind or he will be shown the door.

Watched the model show last night for the first time. Thought it was pretty good. The model sent home was the one that needed to go home. If the designers want to spray you with Napalm then you have to let them spray you with Napalm or find another line of work.

Otherwise, this time I found the runway a bit of a let down. After the money, time, and nature of the challenge, I would have expected to have been vowed by the looks more.

Compared to the high end team challenge in Season 4 when the designers had to make two outfits and PPS & Sissy Bear won, this is a let down. Nothing was as good a Jillian's Edwardian Punk coat or Sweet P's little grey and silver Forever 21 Dress.

This is what I thought as well. Not that I liked this baby doll, but weren't the judges drooling over that black and "green" Carol Hannah baby doll last season? Identical silhouette.

Come on, Seth Aaron is as gay as an Ungaro spring frock.

*Cleans coffee off of monitor*

read his bio. he is married (to a woman named tina) with two kids. unless his wife is trans, which i guess is possible. but it doesn't look that way. just sayin'.

BTW what happened to the Red for Ms. McDonald?

I wondered that. One of my favorite lines from the ep:

"...dressing the VP of McDonald's. But hey, everybody needs a dress."
