Squeal!!! This is shaping up to be the best season EV-AR! That pic of Gay Captain Steubing made me laugh so hard I almost peed a little. Plus a Bible-thumper AND a fellow Cheesehead! Come ON!

ilikeit..you beat me to Whitefolks Bay comment! I'll have to go with Northshore Nancy!

Most of them seem to have some fashion sense, if they're all wearing something they designed I'd say we're in for an interesting season. I'm so excited! And I want Christiane King's blouse.

I don't know who to back yet, they all look really interesting and I can't wait to see what they can do.

OH MY GOSH everyone!!! It's official, we have a repeat caterpillar crotch!

http://www.mylifetime.com/shows/project-runway/casting-sessions/video/jonathan-peters-casting-session

That means this season will be at least as good as season 5, right?

Veriance said... It's suburban MILWAUKEE, not NYC, not Miami, not LA.

Wow...just wow. I'm not going to be drawn into a pissing contest, but you really need to get out more if you think anything outside of NY, LA or...Miami(??) is "the country."

You're in Grosse Pointe? That's not LA, NY or Miami, so are you a bumpkin?

I promise not to post on this topic again, but I do have to stick up for my fantastic home town, even if we are in the middle.

I tried to take a look at their portfolios on Lifetime.com. I think there are some that have potential. I'm interested to see what Mila does. But I can already tell that I will not be a big fan of Pamela or Anthony's asthetic. And Ping seems like a wild card.

Why is it that the women designers dress so BADLY? Very few with any sense of style, how can you be a good designer if you have no sense of style yourself??

Also here to defend WFB: its not like they dont get cable or magazines or wear clothes there (let alone have $), its a cute burb tucked between the city and the lake. With the way Chicagoland is growing, you may as well call it suburban Chicago. On the north side.

Y'know if Anthony lost the beard he could pass for a very cute lesbian. And this show needs more cute lesbians.

Eh, I'm not impressed at first glance, nor will I get my hopes up that this season will be any better than last, although could it be worse? (Afraid to find out!)

Also, looks like they're skewing young again, with only four designers over 35. And why does it seem like many of them look like they've been plucked from a Gap ad? Lifetime, I don't need young, fresh, and peppy! Give me someone with an interesting history, fashion battle scars and something deliciously strange to bring to the table.

Yay! A Rhode Islander! A shout out for my homeboy!

What's with the guy dressed in an Admiral's jacket with the ill-fitting highwater pants? (oh, and the black shoes with the white highwater pants...yeah, I'd trust him to dress me...

Martin Scribbler

One look at them and I feel like punching a few in the face. After last season and its lack of excitment, that's a good thing.

Christiane is my early favorite, but on the whole, this cast actually looks pretty good. Overall, I though last year's group was pretty homogenous: Carol Hannah/Althea, Ra'mon/Epperson, and Shirin/Irina all kinda blended for me. To be fair, I really liked three of those designers, but they weren't a good TV cast. This looks like a good group of competitors and a good cast.

Jesse Lenoir looks like he's wearing Glenn Quagmire's pilot's uniform, or he just stepped off The Love Boat.

I just enjoy the fact that Pamela's last name is an epithet in the Klingon language.

Tamarama - I sincerely apologize for slighting the metropolis of Milwaukee. Or North Chicago as some optimistic poster put it....

Whoa...new season already?

Based entirely on this page:
1. Jay
2. Anna
3. Ping

It's amazing how they now fall immediately into types. The Christian. The Santino. The Michael. The Laura. The Austin. Going home first? My guess: the woman from Pittsfield, MA who named God as her favorite designer.

I'm so excited for Jesse! We went to school together. I always thought he'd be a pro baseball player (yes, all the LeNoir brothers were THAT good)...but then again, he also rocked the vintage style back then.

He's one extremely talented guy, along with the rest of his family. They know how to create something out of nothing...his background and story truly is inspiring.

Oh...and he's definitely NOT gay. Congrats to him and his fiance, Brittany, who will be getting married in March!

This is going to be one exciting season...and even better that I know someone! :)

As suprised as I was to see the cast so soon, I was suprised at how excited I was when I visited BPR earlier today. They have the whole group up as their banner, and I just though "wow, this kind of looks better already".
The designer pictures last season were kinda goofy and stupid, these are a lot better, hopefully this season is better also.
Jesse LeNoir sounds fabulous (can that really be his last name?)
But my favorites would be Jay Nicolas Sario (Alexander McQueen's Resort 2010 collection is the wallpaper on my computer), Maya Luz (fierce dress fierce face...bitch was servin it, and Emilio Sosoa (who brings to mind a younger version of Epperson).
Ben and Seth seem like jack asses, I can't wait for them to go home.
Mila is like Louis Black version 2.0
And Pamela's favorite designer is God.
I'm sorry, I didn't catch his Spring 2010 collection.

to the ones who said:

"Jesus! ¡Viva el Sueño!"

and:

"Wow... rooting for the paisa from Mazatlan (God it must have taken UNGODLY courage to grow up as a gay fashion designer to be in the narco capital of the universe, watch out for him that boy must have resilience and will) and the awesome chick from Abidjan. Go Mexico and Cote D'Ivoire!"

I add: ¡Órale!

I can't believe so many people keep calling him "Elvis" when he is so eerily the image of Ritchie Valens. Look on the picture at wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ritchie_Valens) and tell me it isn't so! I will be SO BUMMED if TLo just start calling him boring "Mexican Elvis" when he is so obviously the Dalai Valens. :(

***audible gasp***

Yes, another Portlander...and from my school! Go, Janeane Marie!

yessssss there's a mother f-ing filipino!!!!!!

Thank God, better eye-candy on it's way!!!!!!!

I'd be willing to bet there are more people named Ping Wu on the planet than there are people in your city of residence- even if you live in LA.

Otherwise: God? Maybe if she's been looking at pictures of pheasants, but I'd say "DNA" then...

I looked at the portfolios, and this looks promising!! Looks like a few of them at least have points of view.

*Favorite Designer: God

PR finally has its very own Church Lady in the form of Ms. Ptak! And I have SUCH high expectations for her...

Prediction: Jonathan Peters is first Auf.

Until I'm proven "God," I'm assuming she means "Nature."

In case I missed someone else posting this....

Suede is from Shaker Heights, Ohio, a suburb of my beloved hometown Cleveland. (Though I'm a former Westsider)

Sooo.... Go Buckeyes!!!!!

That Seth guy looks like he was in the Bay City Rollers...

Oooo....time to go slog through the Lifetime site again....

I'm digging Captain Steubing. It takes balls to wear that.

I want Anna to keep winning so she can be online as much as possible. She's ADORABLE.

And that guy in the pilot outfit just reminds me how much I want a pilot outfit.

So I watched all the casting videos with their abbreviated collections. (and subsequently wanted to poke myself in the eyeball with something sharp if I heard one more permutation of the fucking cotton song.....)

Based solely on those, in no particular order, my favorite designers were:
seth
mila
maya
Janeane
Ben
Amy

It definitely seems as though they tried to cast an "interesting" cast, not necessarily the most talented one. Dude from Alabama? Mexican guy who brings his mom as his mother is ridiculous "couture" gown? And Jesse.......I don't even know what to say about him.....

But it seems as though it is an interesting group, with half a dozen people with true and real talent and *GASP* point of view as well.

So exciting. This winter will be chock full of TV with the return of LOST, more PR, and the usual suspects on the networks

It was such a ridiculously long wait for the most recent season to have begun, that the next one should start ASAP.

That was me that asked. I'm actually from the Eastside, quite close to Painesville.

Not gonna lie, I was not the biggest fan of Suede.

I totally forgot that Kelli and Terry were also from Ohio, whoever mentioned that...

So like I said, we've been doing better. We went from Angela to Althea in four seasons so I high hopes for Mr. "Lenoir" :)

sorry, "so I HAVE high hopes"...

Yay, Yay, YAY!

Back to NY, and lots of designers from all over the world... oh, yay!

Maybe this time around, we'll get back to having color on the runway & interesting challenges!

Oh, I'm so excited...

WILLOWS !?!?!?!?!

Janeane comes from a DINKY town in far Northern California whose major claim to fame (besides farming) is it's proximity to the largest migratory bird refuge in North America...hence the Willows High school mascot is the Willows Honkers.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"I've watched all of his vids, and I must say that he doesn't trigger my gaydar any (and I'd like to think that four years of theatre and colorguard with very gay teachers has calibrated it well). Also, he's engaged, and there are some pictures up of him with his fiance and they seem pretty legit in love."

Sorry, I was judging on appearances alone. After all, this IS the TLo blog. It is what is done here.

Jesse - really?

I live near Woonsocket RI (and not afraid to admit it) so I'm rooting for that guy...

5 & 10

Can't. Wait.

Jesse is one autotuned rapper away from being on a boat.

As for the chick who lists God as her favourite designer, I can't recall that I have ever seen a collection from him, and if what she is wearing is indicative of his design aesthetic, it makes me so glad I am an atheist.

Listen, bitches.

Before judging Pamela, please take a look at her casting session. Her clothes where GORGEOUS. They were architectural and beautifully constructed. In fact, Tim said on the tape "These are the most beautifully constructed garments I have ever seen." So as you can see, she is not a lightweight. Looking through her portfolio, it is very elegant and architectural. The clothes she is wearing are heinous and do not at all represent her style. Also, she meant Mother Nature by God, as on the website it says she is inspired by nature daily. So don't rule out Pam Ptak! She's got some talent!

Wicked curious to hear the Woonsocket guy's accent. I grew up right outside of Providence...living in FL now and losing my accent. I love to hear a real RI/MA accent on TV.

We've got Meriden, CT, Woonsocket, RI and Pittsfield, MA. Wow! 3 New Englanders! Maybe there will be a Tom Brady challenge!

Hey, if she comes from the God school of design, Pam could be a tough competitor on PR. Can crank out multiple finished pieces in a matter of days, none of this taking thousands of years to figure out what works best.

OTOH, as much as I love His early work, the Day Six collection had some serious ugly, and call them "classics" if you must, but I say He's pretty much been coasting ever since.

No age on Ping Wu. She isn't one of those pre-teen Chinese gymnasts, is she?

- I died laughing at this one.

Bill said:" For all the 40+ crowd out there, isn't Jonathan Peters in those wide-leg trousers looking kind of young, kind of now, Charlie! Kind of free, kind of Wow, Charlie!"
Bill You made my morning:).
Can we please refer to Jesse as, "The Captain"?

Without spending any time on looking at the actual info about them:

Jonathan is my fave for having the balls to say out loud "technically unemployed." In your face all you other "freelance" folks who might be working 120 hours a week - or hanging at home digging in the couch cushions for the rent money.

Seth wins biggest fashion disaster. Honey, I don't care where you hail from, you're too old for that get-up, unless your goal is to be known for ironic and dandified versions of what the 20-year-olds are/were wearing.

Variance said...Does Lifetime just love a country bumpkin? (target audience?) First chinstrap from mooseknuckle Minnesota now pretty girl from Whitefish Pte WI?

I realize Wisconsin will never loose its reputation as a farm state but the entire state isn't rural. I live in Whitefish Bay and it is on the edge of Milwaukee, 10 minutes from downtown. Milwaukee has a population of 953,000. We are not all bumpkins.

Jonathan Peters looked so familiar to me, but then I remembered who I was confusing him with.......Danny Gokey from American Idol.

So formerlyAnon :o)

do I get any credit for how I describe my situation?
I describe myself as
an unemployed, self employed IT consultant.

Pamela Ptak....Favorite Designer: God

Holy Crap. Sanctimonious. You can't name one human clothing designer?

Totally excited. Will TLo be doing an overview of the designers' portfolios? For some reason, Lifetime decided to overcomplicate the simple process of showing me a goddamn collection of photographs. Trying to naviagte through Lifetime's "SPINNING ROOM OF FABULOUSNESS" is really, really frustrating.

Yup.

XO
T Lo

Thank God (or, uh, thank T Lo :P)! Seriously, I can't handle the Lifetime website at all. Plus, I'd rather see the portfolios here so I can get some of the T Lo snark with the images. Now I just have to be patient :P.

Thanks for the response, guys!

Plano, TX represent! A contestant named Jesus! And I dig anyone who's favorite designer is God. And Seth seems cool. We shall see!

Seth looks like he is wearing a Green Day costume!

Jesse: "World War II is something I grew up with."

Wait.. what? Is he secretly a time-traveler or something... wait, is he the new doctor?

Ooooof mama, Emilio is handsome. I'm counting on you, T & Lo, to supply the goods. Any crotch shots? I want them. In triplicates.
I don't get the US version in Canada, and it's been one of the toughest things about moving here. D:

"Jesse: "World War II is something I grew up with."

Wait.. what? Is he secretly a time-traveler or something... wait, is he the new doctor?"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!

Hilarious.

And I'm sure he's very straight in his videos, and I'm sure he's not lying to himself and his fiancee, but damn the outfit in that picture is gay and a half.

Ping Wu is timeless. Or at least ageless.

can't wait to read TLo's take on the portfolios!!

Not to mention actually getting to SEE the portfolios away from Lifetime's horrible website.

My! Those ARE palazzo pants, aren't they? I think I still have an old Butterick pattern for them from ~1992 - looks like I'll have to dust it off for this season!

Jay Sario looks like a bitchy queen. And is Christiane wearing LEG WARMERS???? Please let 1982 GO AWAYYYYYYEEE. I predict a round of harem pants early in the season.

Just looked at all the portfolios.

Predictions:

Jay or Ping will be the first to go.

One of Ping's designs looked like a scoop of smoked salmon cream cheese.

I guess Jay didn't submit any actual CLOTHES for the portfolio.

Jesus will win with all his limbs tied behind his back.

I must say, Pamela Ptak is wearing some very ptak-y clothes...

Tamarama - It's suburban MILWAUKEE, not NYC, not Miami, not LA.

Money or not...FCOL it's MILWAUKEE!

Now, I have a Grosse Pointe to get back to...

As someone who has lived in both places, I can tell you that there is almost no difference between Whitefish Bay and Grosse Point. So if there are country bumpkins in one ...

mexico represent... finally!

Jay all the way~~~~

Haven't watched the videos, but I'm going with Jay to be in the top based on experience. I was just in Gap Kids for my daughter wishing that Gap for grown-ups would have as much innovation as the kids stores.

GOPHER!!! GOPHER is here! "The loooove boat, soon will be making another run..." Who knew he had it in him to design clothes!

~MDO

Pam and Captain "straight" already annoy me enough to hope they are the first two cut. Just from looks alone and the amount of styling products in those boys' hair, we are going to have major bitchpants drama this season.

Yay. That's all I can say about that. It better be better or I am gonna be angry.

Also:
"permalancer at Men's Active Old Navy"
What in the hell does that mean? It's like a different language.

And the woman who said her favorite designer was God? She dresses like my frumpy, dumpy 60-year-old English teacher and sounds like a whack job.

Someone told me that the dress and seal fur jacket that Jesus Estrada showed on his interview video for PR did not belong to him. I heard that the designs belonged to his fashion design school teacher. Has anyone else heard this?

I just met Anthony from Project Runway in DSW and TJ MAxx!!!! Hooray!!!!!
