In or Out: Heidi Samuel

It's tight, short, and shiny all the way for the newly re-christened Mrs. Samuel.

Heidi Samuel attends the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show at The Armory in New York City wearing a Roberto Cavalli dress and Christian Louboutin shoes.

This is downright demur for Heidi. Sure it's tight and it's short and it's got a little bit of shiny, but it's for the most part a toned-down look for her. This is an IN for no other reason than her superior German genetics. The bitch gave birth less than two months ago.

Heidi Samuel attends the 2009 Victoria's Secret fashion show after party at M2 Ultra Lounge in New York City in a tight, short, and shiny PVC dress.

Ahh, now there's the tacky milk maid we all know and love. For her second look, she ditched the short and played up the tight and shiny. Is this a classy dress? Not on your life. But it's a Victoria's Secret after party and Mrs. Samuel has reached an age where she has to prove that she's still got the goods. In a different venue this might have come across a little tacky and desperate but this dress has one purpose: it's a walking advertisement for the glory that is Heidi Klum Samuel's body and on that level it's an unapologetic IN. We just don't like the asymmetrical hem and the little gloves with the finger armor.

For looking this amazing just weeks after having a baby, she's an IN.

I love the second look. But I have a PCV fetish, so I'm a little biased.

I give her an IN for looking that good after birthing another Seal cub.

Smoke, mirrors and about 10 miles of Spanx. I plan to use the same after I give birth. Will need at least 20 miles, though.

This is where Heidi rules....IN all the way.

Boys, enlighten us on the name change...

In and in again.

In, especially for the shoes.

Both pairs are killer.

Reread the post and click on links. : )

In and In, I think they were appropriate for the event.

Our Heidi has almost reached the same status as Sharon Stone and Areatha Franklin. She is a big IN in both dresses.

TampaBay

IN for both, and LOVE the finger armour.

BTW, did anyone notice how Frau Seal gushed over Althea's tight ands shiny blouse in her BP collection?

You can take tight and shiny away from Heidi...

I like both looks. She looks great too, love the hair and makeup. In & In.

I say In on both. On the last look, I am sucker for all that is mod and black & white. Much like Miz Stone, Heidi always seems to be enjoying herself and knows exactly what image she's putting out there. That confidence goes a long way.

Her voice drives me insane, though. I have a bird (a small conure) who shrieks whenever Heidi talks on TV. I literally have to roll his cage into the next room when PR is on!!

Don't like the first dress, but do like the second. Except, as per TLo, the asymetrical hem & the stupid rings. But, geez, an entire dress made of PVC must be uncomfortable. Maybe her superior German engineering means she doesn't sweat.

As for her name change, it's entirely her business, of course, but:

I'm against this tradition in general, and in this case find myself thinking, why take the last name of a husband who isn't known for having one? To have the same name as the children? Here's another idea: give children their mother's last name!

No fair. I just gave birth four days ago and the blancmange that is my belly is feeling extremely self conscious and inferior right now.

Do you read anything other than this blog? Her name change has been "news" for months.

If I got stuck with the name "Klum," I would change it to anything else too.

What's that gold thing at her waist on the second series of pics?

Anon2 said, "Do you read anything other than this blog? Her name change has been 'news' for months."

Hey, Anon2, no fair. I can't speak for the Anon who asked to be enlightened, but while admittedly I spend too much time at this blog, I also read other things, and this is the first I've heard of her name change. Maybe because I don't consume other entertainment news, tv, mags, etc. Just not my thing, and I do miss a lot.

I actually like the cut on the 2nd dress but you're right about those gloves. That dress would probably be better if it was a different material but this is Heidi. I like the 1st dress alot.

she lost weight and that's why she has "superior german genetics"?

hmm something doesn't add up

I agree with BB, but what is up lately with several posters (anon mostly) criticizing other posters here about NOT reading other news or the thousands comments on this blog???? I know we don't need to agree on everything related to the topics we discuss here, but I find really ludicrous the attack of other posters, just for the fact of not knowing something or not reading.... I don't come to this forum to be criticized for not knowing something or not having read the latest gossip.... anyway, just saying.... it's been happening a lot lately....

but Frau Heidi is IN in both looks, she looks spectacular, especially having had a baby only 6 weeks ago.... you go girl! flaunt it!!!!!!

She does look amazing - not only for just having had a baby girl 6 weeks ago but for having had 4 children in the last 5 years! Wowsers! Talk about superior genes.

She's a total IN but not loving the glorified nurses shoes in the second look. Maybe if they were black but the white, not so much.

Re: Anon2 ----

Her name change was just finalized and approved yesterday in a LA court. It really isn't 'old' news.

I'd say "in" on both looks, just b/c it's Frau Seal. I'm not sure anybody else could carry these looks off so soon after having a baby!

I don't entirely understand what's going on with that gold-ish thing near her left hand. Is that on the dress? Some kind of jewelry? Confused.

I think the 'goldish' thing on her dress in the picture is just the reflection of a light due to the extreme shininess of the PVC.

Not for anything - but she looks great with a little "skin on her bones." I read recently she beleives she must lose 20 lbs -- I would disagree looking at these pics.

I love both dresses, especially the second and I usually hate PCV.

IN + IN

I just want to take some scissors to that asymmetrical hem, but other then that, she get's a big IN.

LOVE that first dress.

I like the black and white on her. Especially the length. Don't like the naughty nurse shoes though.

Obviously you're referring to the comment I made to the multiple people confused in the TLounge Thursday night, since you were the one commented back on it. I wasn't "attacking" anyone. The explanation over how they did the runway show on tv vs. Bryant Park was posted on this blog by TLo when they posted about Tim's interview with L.A. Times. It was one of the few things TLo gave us snippets of from the interview (in case we didn't bother reading the whole thing) and they even commented on it themselves. This wasn't something that was buried in the comments.

I think that's latex, not PVC.

Jules,
this is what you said on thursday night:

Jules

Reading some of these comments, apparently none of you ever read the comments on this blog.

so, you never mentioned (like you're doing now) that it was in Tim's interview or TLO's summary about it. But I was also referring to many others who have been dismissive of many people confused or without the proper information (case of whoever scolded another for not knowing about Heidi's change of name)....it has been noticeable lately and even TLO had to delete some comments because of it..... so my point is that it is ridiculous to criticize others for not reading all the posts and comments about an issue..... and if somebody asks something because they don't know, just accept it and if you want to provide the info, do it in the nicest way possible, no need of condescending attitude.... not everybody knows everything about everything here.....

and that's all i'm going to say......I will continue to ask questions in this forum if I don't know something....

Heidi's still got the goods, so she gets a double IN for these looks. And sorry, but loving the finger-armor! Ticky-tacky, yeah, for sure, but how very appropriate for today's modern, Teutonic milkmaid. Looks like I'm starting to feel the love again.

- edina -

I hope she doesn't sit down or bend over in that first dress!

That second - it reminds me of an essay Brian Bouldrey wrote involving Mr. Rubber, in which the question is asked: "Is it okay to wear white latex after Labor Day?"

no accounting 4 taste

So for the second you look, you dislike everything that keeps that cheap-ass piece of black and white pleather from looking like the early 90's video ho castoff it is? Um, ok...

Jules said: I love the second look. But I have a PCV fetish, so I'm a little biased.

Apparently I have one too (although I never realized it before now), because I love the second dress.

She looks great in the first dress, but I don't like short, tight and strapless. It's a step too far for my taste. Still, she gets a solid IN.

And I love the finger-armor.

She does look amazing for just having had a baby and good for her.

She also looks a bit desperate...it's like look at me! I'm still hot! I can wear the most ridiculous outfit and look good!

Hopefully she'll lose these looks before her kids reach puberty.

TooFatforFashion

First look in but I don't like the flange sleeves on the second look. Her underarm pits are squished and the capsleeves tend to attract the eye to the only unfortunate area on the former Miss Klum.

A closer look at the first dress shows that it's not strapless. But close enough. I still don't like it.

"Tlo said: We just don't like the asymmetrical hem and the little gloves with the finger armor."

I love the finger armor, if only because it allows one to flip the bird in style.

--GothamTomato

Oh I don't know. The finger armor can come in quite handy if you flip someone the bird!

Gotham Tomato I didn't see you're comment before I wrote mine. Great minds! ;-)

She's IN both times and not because she just gave birth, but more because this is who Heidi is. And she works it.

Can we not refer to her as Heidi Samuel? I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

She was always, and forever be, Heidi Klum.

And, In and In. That second dress only works for a very limited number of events. Bravo to Heidi for selecting the perfect event for that dress.

I'm a bit fatigued by all the marveling at celebrities who post-pregnancy lose weight in 5 minutes. It's unrealistic and unnecessary, and I'm not sure what extreme (and unhealthy?) lengths they put their bodies through.

In on both looks. However, while I definitely DO like the finger armor, I agree with TLo that the little half gloves WITH the finger armor is going too far.

Also, what do her tattoos say? I don't recall ever seeing them before.

Kris in Seattle

Don't y'all mean "demure" (adj) instead of "demur" (verb)?

I agree with the commenter above me, that definitely looks like latex, not PVC. Latex always looks better!

Heidi Klum, Heidi Samuel...

...she'll always be Frau Seal to me.

Also, what do her tattoos say? I don't recall ever seeing them before.

Kris in Seattle

Kris,
her tattoo says Seal and then one star per child with their initials. She just added the 4th one. I think it's a cool tattoo.

what!? she changed her last name!? in this day and age!? lame.

Anonymous 3:34 said Can we not refer to her as Heidi Samuel? I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

Sorry, but if that's how the lady wants to be known, that's what I'll call her. Since I want people to call me by the name of my choice, not theirs, I'll extend Mrs. Samuel the same courtesy.

She does look rather amazing and yes she must have gone through some serious stuff to get that way! Yea she probably would have bounced back but just not so quickly.

Ill say in for any woman who can confidently go out in dresses that short and tight 2 months after childbirth. Confidence, I love it!

As to the name change, I get what the previous commenter was saying about thinking they wouldn't ever get used to it, I def feel the same way! Its her choice but as we'll never meet in real life, she is always gonna be Ms. Klum :)

i actually really like the PVC dress... but her styling is leaving something to be desired.

That's insane!
IN

those rings are gorgeous!!!!! anybody knows what those are????

That second dress does strange things to her armpits. It's disturbing.

I love Heidi, but am really growing tired of seeing that pigeon-toed stance.

Anon wrote:

You would not believe the amount of shit I've gotten (and still get) for *not* changing my last name when I got married 3+ years ago. I respect women who do so, but there's still a lot of disrespect for those of us who don't!

IN for both outfits. Bitch is hot stuff!

BWAHHHAAAA! Love this!

I agree that the first look is definitely a low key look for Frau Seal. The woman definitely won the genetic lottery, no doubt about it.

i'm not dorothy gale

You know they can do tummy tucks after c-sections...and lots of women take advantage of that rather than deal with loose skin. Whether or not Mrs. Samuels partook of this, she looks spanxed within an inch of her life.

Unlike you two I don't like the second dress but mightily covet those rings.

My first thought was the PVC would make a fabulous fashion rendering. Then I looked back at the first one and said to myself, "Nah, too plain to wanna draw".

Now I think my criteria for season 7 will be, "Would I take the time to draw that?".

BrianB

Oh yeah, Heidi's In.

How long has Heidi had that tattoo on her right arm?

She looks amazing. Probably wrapped in a whole roll of saran wrap. Ok..probably not, but we can dream. Like the first dress more.

I've been married half my life (that's a long time, trust me). I didn't take my husband's name and I run into the "Mrs. G-berg" issue still. The good news is that I defuse the situation by telling people, "Yeah, I was one of those yuppie brides who kept my name." (and here's the punchline) "And it pissed off my mother in law." They always laugh when I say that. But if my future daughter in law keeps her name I'll be fine with that.

Seriously? It's your name. Be proud of it, whether you keep your maiden name or you take your husband/wife/spouse's name. You're still you.

Damn. Four children under the age of six, and she looks like *this*? Bitch is not even human, I swear! Totally IN.

I say "IN" under any circumstances.

In and in. Of course she wore short, tight, and shiny to a Victoria's Secret event. It's like a natural law or something.

Although I do like the second dress, I'm more lukewarm on it. The styling is questionable, and it does indeed make her underarms look odd. (Oy vey. I can't believe I'm criticizing a supermodel's armpits!!)

As far as the name change--the article said that she may or may not be using "Samuel" professionally. I hope she doesn't.

I don't care what celebrities choose to do in their private lives, but I feel that it's the height of arrogance for a celebrity to expect the general public to care enough to remember her new name. These are people who spent years and years trying to get people to remember their name in the first place.

And how many of these celebrities that change their names in the middle of their careers actually stay married? Almost none. Well, celebrities don't have a very good record of staying married anyway, but I admit that I get quite a bit of schadenfreude out of seeing these self-important ladies have to change their names back.

Most egregious case in point: Ms. Roseanne Barr Arnold, just call me Roseanne, you know what? you need to call me Roseanne Thomas now, on second thought, I liked just "Roseanne" better, eh, Roseanne Barr was the best of the lot, so let's go back to that now, okthxbye.

These ridiculous famewhores really need to take a cue from class acts such as Joanne Newman and Anne Brooks.

Jen, It's amazing to me that someone who married just 3 years ago gets flack for not changing her name. Sheesh!

Gorgeous, I didn't take my husband's name the first time, or the second time. First time, sweaty little divorce guy, just a paper-filler-outer in a windowless office who knew absolutely nothing about me or my husband, said it must be why my marriage was ending: because I was one of those women's libbers! (And to show how out of touch this guy was, nobody had used that term for years!)

I don't believe in the tradition of taking the husband's name, which is a holdover from the days when men owned their wives and children. But I respect people choices, and the next time I'm introducing Heidi around to my friends, I'll introduce her as Heidi Samuel.

The second dress is fantastic! She looks great.

I, for one, am glad Heidi is using "Samuel." Somebody in the marriage should. Seal doesn't.

If you think the PVC is innovative, imagine how wonderful the second dress would have been in NEOPRENE!

All you new moms out there...don't despair. Just do what Heidi did: Buy some industrial strength Spanx.

Completelyyyy off-topic but I was too excited to not share...in Lady GaGa's new "Bad Romance" video, she is wearing the fabulous black, sea-dragon like shoes from the McQueen Spring 2010 show.

LOVE.

"I love Heidi, but am really growing tired of seeing that pigeon-toed stance."
At least she doesn't stand there with her legs crossed looking like she's trying not to piss her pants.
She wears that finger armor with everything. It's old and ridiculous.

LOVE all things Runway...and this was the first I've heard of the Frau Seal nomenclature reclassification.

Anyhow...IN for both looks. Actually like the sleeves on #2. Girl looks amazing for having just popped out another bebeh. Chalk it up to superior German engineering!

Re name change:

For some reason, in the world of celebrity, taking one's husband's last name is often the kiss of death for the marriage. Think Robin Wright-Penn, Farrah Fawcett-Majors, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, and even Katie Lee Joel (aargh!).

Famous women whose marriages lasted for the long term? Joanne Woodward, Jessica Tandy, Anne Bancroft, Anne Meara, and even Trudy Styler (aargh again!).

This is of course spurious science, but I'm still pointing it out.

She get an huge in for wearing a Latex (not PVC) dress just a couple of months after a baby and for being able to not look like she is at a fetish party.

I think it's sweet that she changed her last name. If they have chosen to give the kids the last name Samuel, why wouldn't she take it as well? Being in love is fantastic! If a name change is a way for her to express that love and bond that is fantastic too.
IN

Heidi goes to pieces, jigsaw pieces that is:
http://www.artdaily.org/index.asp?int_sec=2&int_new=34458

You boys are WAY too kind.

OUT!

She looks horrible in that black and white number.

"Heidi Samuel"? What? Even SEAL doesn't use Seal's last name!

She is such a beautiful woman, I just wish she'd hitch a ride on the classy, sophisticated wagon a little more often.

PS--never changed my name when I married and 22 years later, I'm still me and he still loves me. If it's going to work, it will regardless of what you do with the name :)

Did she get work done?

fragile industries

The latex is talking to my fetish. The other dress, OK, so in and in, especially paired with the Big Killer Shoes DONE RIGHT. Most of the BKS trend of the last few years is cruel and unusual (starting with the unfortunate gladiator look. Those SATC girls you featured a few months back were absolute victims of their gargantuan shoes. These are just right -- bigass but classic fuck me shapes, with fuck me dresses. It works.

Where was I? Oh, the tattoo -- a lovely sentimental idea, but I hate the placement. Starting at the inside of the elbow and dribbling down her forearm? It looks like a junkie bleeding from her last injection site. Even Gia Carangi couldn't rock that look.

I think that's latex and not PVC. me likey

Oh, I'd say they are both IN, in context. I like the "finger armor" but not the little cuff/glove/gauntlet things. It's a look with a very 60's-mod flavor (especially with the hairstyle) and I don't think the cuff-things fit that feel.

Both of those garments allow underpinnings of steel, so those of you with a little baby softness need not feel bad. Now, that only works if you limit how *much* baby softness accumulates, and like lots of these celebrity moms whose career is built on looks, she's done that. I wish she'd keep at least 10 pounds of what she's reported as wanting to lose, I do think she looks better. But I see her in clothes & no doubt she judges herself against lingerie model requirements.

Taking on your spouse's last name is the kiss of death for marriages in Hollywoodland.

I give it another two years.

Good Lord she's beautiful. With a face like that, I find it hard to even pay attention to the clothes.
I hope she never ruins her perfect face with plastic surgery. It would be a crying shame.

The dresses: I like the first one; just a basic black dress. It's a little too short, but this is Heidi we're talking about here.

The second one is Tack-ola city, but again, this is no surprise. She manages to look great in even the most aggressively ugly dresses, even a couple of months after giving birth. It's just not fair.

The first look is blah, and too short for someone her age. Sorry Heidi - you are FABULOUS but this is not so great. Also, she looks hippy in it! shocking. Her hair looks great.

Second look is horrible. Hate the little gloves and hate the armor rings! But she seems to love them as she wears them all the time!

That being said, she is still one of the most strikeingly beautiful woman of all time!

What's up with the name change? Don't like the tacky tatoo on her arm!

The baby-weight thing has GOT to be her genetics.

My sister-in-law is one of those, and while pregnant with her 3rd, she actually said to me, "I hope I can keep on some of the weight this time."

I didn't hit her. Almost...but she was hugely pregnant, so I would have gotten into trouble.

As for the whole name thing, I just can't get myself worked up about it. I guess I'm one of those "post-feminist" types with no appreciation for what my sisters fought for before me. There are SO many potential reasons to change or not to change your name. Maybe she just never liked the name "Klum"?

I could care less about the name change. It's her decision and, frankly, we should have more important things in our lives to discuss...

..such as the weight loss. As a mom of two, I give props to any woman who can look that good right after giving birth. However, I'd like to point out that most women would look great, too, if they had the same access to nutritioninsts, plastic surgeons, private chefs, and, most importantly, the fact that your career depends on your looks! I'd rather carry a few extra points than have all that pressure on me.

Regardless, Frau Samuel looks amazing. Go, German Superwoman, go!

I can't do this Samuel thing. Bah!

She looks fabulous!

Why did she change her name? That's silly.

Hate both dresses. Too slutty, too short, too tight.

IN. I love the second dress : )

Asparagus lust

She looks exponentially better with a little weight on; don't worry, it will all be gone and she will be gaunt again soon, and it isn't a good look for her.

Sorry Lo of the T. I don't want to see Pam Anderson in double showing off this much vulgarity a month or 6 weeks after popping out a little baby girl outta there.

Taste? Zero, I am at the point of no return about her. Not jelousy (you will just have to take my word on that), just the total flaunting of how possibly in your face she can get in every known way. Out. Now. And. Forever. Jayne. Mansfield. Samuuel. Anderson

I dunno...she looks great in both outfits, although I do like the black and white one better. She looks like a warrior princess! And I like the white pumps with the b/w dress. And I'm with LuLu...I hope Heidi never goes the plastic surgery route...too many beautiful women (and men) have been ruined by it.

As fab as she looks post-baby, that second look is eurotrash central! I'm sweating just looking at that rubber.
