In or Out: Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller attends the opening night party for "After Miss Julie" on Broadway at the Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre in New York City wearing a Balmain minidress.

Balmain, our pert little asses. That's pure Ann Margrock from Bedrock.

Balmain Spring 2010 Collection
Model: Abbey Lee Kershaw

On second thought, even Ann Margrock would turn this dress down. We can't yawn hard enough at glittery dresses that cost more than a car attempting a faux ripped and shredded look. We say OUT.

As an aside, we finally saw The September Issue a while back and we can't get over how fashion editors fawn over this (to our eyes) totally average starlet. We don't get it.

She looks like a homeless Tinkerbell. OUT

Does that dress really cost as much as a car?

ROFLMAO.

Not only is the dress awful, what is with her hair? She needs some styling help.

No. No. No.

the only person that should b allowed to wear this
is shakira as a promo for loba (she wolf)
i bet she would look amazing
but besides that. ew.

If you tore up about 5 pieces of steel wool, make a dress out of it and then rubbed it all over Kors right after his spray-tan appointment you would have this dress.

That is a bad thing. OUT!!!

Totally agree. The dress is hell and her hair is a mess. It looks like her married lover's estranged wife just got through with giving her a tune up.

To me she's known more for her boyfriends, Jude Law, the married heir, ect. rather than any movie she's acclaimed for. I realize she has a career but I'm at a loss for any outstanding work she's done. Like you boys said, average.

Seriously I had to relook at who this post was even about. Sienna Miller who? All I know of her is Jude Law. That's about it. Hate that dress, looks like she just tramped through the woods and pieces of the dress got torn off by the branches. The hair matches.

I saw this earlier on GoFugyourself which is exactly where it belongs. OUT

i'm not dorothy gale

Did Sienna put this on right after her workout or did she shower first? The damn thing looks like it would ITCH. Out the "dress" and out the "actress".

Damn, that's an ugly dress. Looks like she got mugged on the way to the event.

It's like if a ice skater ripped her outfit when she saw what it looked like, then had to wear it anyway because she didn't have anything else.

I showed this to someone, they asked if she was dragged behind a bus. "nope, it's meant to look like that"

OUT!

It would have been preferable to wear that frock to the premiere of Zombieland.

"She looks like a homeless Tinkerbell."
LOL!

I was going to say Tinkerbell after a bar fight!

At least Ann Margrock would have had fierce hair and shoes. Depressing.

I wondered if you boys would ever comment on The September Issue. I saw it a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I do understand your reaction. Anyone who has been involved with fashion for as long as you two probably didn't see anything new or relevatory at all. But I found a lot of it fascinating and fun and advanced my knowledge of fashion from a teaspoon to a teacup!

TLo, maybe I misunderstood, I thought you were talking about the film, but in re-reading I guess you were talking about Sienna Miller. oops.

OUT on the dress and DOUBLE OUT on the styling...whoever said she looks homeless was dead on!

Blech. What's with the wooly shit on it? Looks like Fun Fur.

Not a good look for her, but I think she's an ok actress. She was quite good as Edie in "Factory Girl." The movie had a lot of flaws, but she was not one of them. And it doesn't seem like that would be an easy part to play. I'm not her biggest fan or anything, but she's a lot more talented than a lot of the "starlets" who have achieved the same level of notoriety.

yeah! ho! wah!

no discussion here. OUT.
hair and makeup are terrible. at least it fits to the dress, which is also terrible.

also: mini dress? i think its a slightly oversized top.

God help me but I kind of like it. If you must do short, tight and shiny at least it's different.

The hair, the makeup, herself - OUT.

I'm slanted, because I don't care for her personal choices.

With that caveat, I say out - she's not demure enough to pull that dress off without looking whorish. To be fair, very few people could.

Sienna Miller always looks to me like she must smell bad. Maybe it's the greasy hair.

Skanky.

"...we can't get over how fashion editors fawn over this (to our eyes) totally average starlet. We don't get it."

Ditto

Leftover remnants from the Brillo factory. Blech

I'm sorry but that dress looks like it was dug out of the mark down box at the Salvation Army. I also dont get the appeal of Sienna Miller - other than bone Jude law, what has she done?

Sienna looks like she's suited up for one of those unfortunate specials where former figure skating champions skate to hip hop music in an effort to appear cool. It doesn't work for the skating, the music or the outfits.

So Heidi.

So OUT.

Same-ol same-ol for Sienna: short tight and shiny. Big yawn and bigger OUT.

I am biased because I saw the play and am still confused as to why she is considered to be such a big deal. (Tip: skip it and go see Hamlet instead).
As for the dress, TOO short and TOO shiny - don't you boys call that a "Heidi"?

Ninety six thumbs down.

Bad enough that it's asstastically short, much less intentionally ripped to shreds.

Even Heidi would balk at wearing this.

"You're out. Please leave the runway."

She looks like she encountered a school of piranha on her way to the party.

Somebody club her over the head & drag her away.
OUT.

If her hair and makeup were impeccable it could possibly work. With that crapola hair there's no chance.

And I think she's gorgeous. If you see her in the TV show "Keen Eddie" she is just utterly radiant. She has that "It" factor.

"As an aside, we finally saw The September Issue a while back and we can't get over how fashion editors fawn over this (to our eyes) totally average starlet. We don't get it."

Um......who is she? No seriously, who is she? I've never heard the name. Unless they are staring at me on the front cover of some awful tabloid while I'm in line at the store, I don't pay attention to any two bit, throw away actors/actresses.

And while I like the de-constructed look, this is just awful. This missed the point entirely. Everything is pure OUT.

Ugh. Between the dress and the hair, girlfriend is looking ragged.

Actually she is a fairly talented actress but she has not had any kind of real breakout role for the public to really take notice of her. she's been in a lot of films but hasn't quite ever made it big commercially or artistically. The problem also is her looks, while pretty, really are non-distinctive.

she looks like a mess in that outfit.

although it could have worked better than most of the entries in the Bob Mackie challenge

go over to go fug yourself for their description - laughed almost as hard as Tim Gunn screen caps

Ha! My first thought was "Tinkerbell stumbling out of the smoke from the cartoon explosion"

and, oh so OUT.

peter pan called , he wants his clothes back

my thought was wilma flintstone who just had a fight with betty rubble.....but i suppose it is a little too glitzy for that...

awful!!! OUT!

Another case of a talented performer whose tabloid identity has eclipsed her creative identity.

Right there with you on the ??? regarding SM as Vogue cover girl (tho LOVED "TSI").

Oh, I guess I should say something about the dress...uh, nope - can't. Too hideous to consider this early in the morning.

OUT. Way, way, way out.

Why is she even famous? I mean, other than because Jude Law cheated on her. I can't think of a single film she's been in. She is an "actress," right?

i detest sienna miller, i don't care who she bones...i just kinda cant stand her, then i see her on an interview and she seems really cool, but nope, i suddenly can't stand her again!!! out.

Early Halloween costume?

It looks like she can't move her arms in the dress.

Snoozefest.

OUT

This snooty English heifer from Mercer county can kiss my ass. Nobody talks shit on my turf, except me.

What is she considered a "style icon" anyway?

Ms Miller's hair is the problem. The model looks great. Though I do not like booties with sort dresses, it works in the photo of the model on the runway.

TampaBay

Oh, OUT. That's ridiculous.

Ooh, yes. I still haven't forgiven her for that.

She's a mess. OUT.

In. I think she looks great--radiant and happy. I don't know anything about Sienna Miller and so am not influenced by her personal life (readers commenting "skank" and "cunt" are clearly commenting on more than this dress). It's a silly dress, but it's a theater after-party in Manhattan and she's young and pretty and has the body for it and looks like she's enjoying herself. What's wrong with that? I like the simple make-up and hair. "In" for wearing something odd and being pleased with the results.

She's normal height (5'5" I believe), cute, young, and admits she's made major mistakes. And what's up with the Sienna hate? People who call her skank are buying into what the paparazzi and tabloids would like us to believe, and I refuse to be persuaded by those types. Not knowing her personally, it is hard to judge her on anything but her looks and film roles. This dress isn't great and she's following the trend of non-hair style or hair that looks uncombed, but you can tell she has fun with fashion and isn't afraid to go on a limb. She often looks fabulous. I like the fact that walking down the street she could be any young woman, not one of those glam Valkeries that people seem to admire these day. Sienna appeals to the ordinary woman, and shows them they can actually look cute and cutting edge at them same time without the requisite height or spectacular beauty that designers seem to require.

I'm not her biggest fan or anything, but she's a lot more talented than a lot of the "starlets" who have achieved the same level of notoriety.

While Sienna may be talented, her unfortunate choices in the men she dates has placed her in the same class as those other "starlets". She may have great roles in great movies, but her talent is overshadowed by the fact that she openly dates married men. Maybe if she laid low for a while and then made an incredible movie, people would forget about her personal life.

That being said, I saw this first on GFY and also agree with it being there. The dress is horrible and her hair always looks out of sorts.

I also recently saw "The September Issue" and enjoyed it! Of course, my mind constantly played compare and contrast with "The Devil Wears Prada" lol! And hasn't Sienna been on like 6 Vogue covers?

If you're gonna wear a Balmain dress, why remove the element that establishes it...the shoulder pads?

I thought she got raked over the coals in September Issue, all that nonsense about how the cover shot is actually 3 (or more?) shots photoshopped together, how her teeth were "awful" and her hair a "mess". Perhaps if the last 2+ years she had concentrated on her acting career and less on breaking up marriages she would have gotten a better edit.

every time i see a photo of sienna miller, i have this moment like "oh, THAT's what sienna miller looks like." if blogs didn't say her name with every photo, i would have no idea who this unremarkable blonde is.

If the dress were shorter, Heidi would be wearing it. Perhaps with her giant, clunky beige suede ankle boots.

When good fashion goes bad, that's what you get.

Out.

(And I have no idea who Sienna Miller is!)

This reminds me much too much of a sexy Freddy Kruger outfit I tried on at Halloween Express the other day.

All she needs is the hat and the glove.

This generic blond stars isn't just in attendance at the Broadway Miss Julie production, she is the "star." The New York Times gave her ( I am sure) a deservingly horrible review. She is a mediocre talent, propelled by who she has sex with.

I totally love it. Love the texture. Love the style. I'd wear it as a top.

Nancy

Yes, honesty.not.pc, that definitely costs as much as a car--a nice car. It's from the new season so it's not on sale yet, but here's a dress from fall '09. Fourteen grand.

http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/47063

Perhaps she is striking a blow for lower health care costs by inviting the world to serve as her gynecologist.

STOP with the shirt-length dresses, designers! I don't need to see anyone's lady bits out and about!

I'm going to be a zombie for Halloween. This dress would be perfect!

Out.

Vic, I agree she usually looks fabulous, but this particular dress is a big No in my book. And you don't go to your father's hometown and openly diss it, which is exactly what she did in an interview a few years ago. She seems to have no idea how to behave in public.

This really is a disappointing little "dress"and Balmain our ass is pretty appropriate. It reminds me of some tragedy inspired ice-dancing outfit that ends up with the female character dead and twisted on the ice. I'm not going to hate on Sienna, although you would think she would put more effort forward being in the spotlight. Out? How about, meh, not worth caring about.

Horrible. Out

Asparagus lust

I have watched Sienna right along. Way above average. More like a Kate Moss type. Substantial and classic, much prettier than average. This dress works on her. The non-hair styling is "it" now, can't diss for that. Anyone would diss a boring location and she did apologize in print later. She's easy on the eyes, low drama, just the usual, and I look forward to watching her career. Not as plastic and "given" as many starlets. She earns it . In

Killer moths in the Balmain studio IMO.

"Homeless Tinkerbell" LOL... Or, like, Tinkerbell after her 3rd stint in rehab.

fashionablylate

Ugh, OUT.

sienna miller is incredible!!!!!!! shes soooo hot.

the dress is fine, its the styling or the lack thereof...the shoes and the hair kill it completely - therefore i guess she's out...too bad..she's a lovely lady

Yeech! Clan of the Cave Bear!! Out!

What Anon said

what a shame, that poor girl got her dress caught in the car door on the way to her event and it all ripped off!
JMB

Yuk. What's funny is that she keeps talking about wanting her work, but not her clothes, to do the talking. And yet, Miller continues to wear these "look at me, look at me" outfits, many of which are horrible. Sienna Miller has yet to do anything really interesting. Her work is ok, not great, and her propensity for seeking out inappropriate men has grown tiresome. Given that most fashion magazines only have a dozen covers a year, do we really need to have Miller taking up 1/12 to 1/6 of that space every single year?

All that I can say about this is Moth-eaten Ice Capades. Definitely OUT!

bitchybitchybitchy

Like TLo, I have never understood the appeal of Sienna Miller. I just don't get it. The girl must have a great publicist.

Can someone remind me why she is famous?

She used to be fun. Now she's just slaggy. So out. Especially for the lack of hair and shoes. Boo, hiss, former It girl!
