Bottom Boys - The Sequel

They're a modern stone age family!

You know we love you all like a gay kid loves sequins, but there are times when the commenters reach a consensus and all we can do is sit back and wonder where it came from.

When did adorable, weepy Christopher become the guy everyone hates? Sure, his work has been less than stellar these last few challenges and we can understand why people think he should have gone home, but the anger, kittens. Where is the anger coming from? He's like a little fluffy bunny of fashion!

Model: Katie Sticksel

Here's the thing: we think this earned its spot in the bottom but we actually would have been a bit pissed if he'd been sent home over it.

Cliche? You betcha. Not so great execution? No argument there. Tacky? Well yes, but we're talking about stagewear for Christina Aguilera here. If you really want to be pedantic about it, most of Bob Mackie's oeuvre could be considered tacky.

We actually like the bustier, although it could have been fitted better.

And we honestly don't mind the idea of hot pants, except these hot pants look decidedly flimsy. Nina went off on the whole Lady Marmalade thing but it's not uncommon for singers to wear costumes that hearken back to earlier looks when they're singing their greatest hits. Cher does it all the time and even Madonna broke out the wedding gowns and pointy bras in concert years after she made them famous.

Note to Katie: You may think your ass is your worst feature, and we realize we're not the demographic your ass should be appealing to, but you're nuts, girl. That ass is FINE.

For us, what makes this entry defensible is the fact that he was the only designer who conceptualized it in terms of stage wear. He gave her two distinct looks with quick-change capabilities. And to be honest, we kind of liked this look.

On the other hand, it's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants.

Model: Kojii Helnwein

Because this strikes us as pretty much indefensible.

Okay, that's not entirely true. We can defend it on the grounds that it least attempts an over-the-top stagewear sensibility. That's commendable since so many other designers for some inexplicable reason made gowns.

And he did use color, so points for that in a sea of black and white.

The problem is it's just drab and a little ugly.

And what is that? Seriously, WHAT IS THAT?

She kinda looks a little like she's being attacked from behind by some sort of animal.

Thankfully, Nina was finally home where she belonged.

"HAHAHA! Oh, 'Edgy?!' You think this sad piece of crap is "edgy?!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!'

"Oh, kid. You're killing Nina here. She looks like a hooker in Bedrock."

"Nina! Say something about Christopher's look! Go ahead!"

"There is nothing amusing about Christopher's look. It sickens me."

"Why oh why am I forced to look at these tasteless, style-free garments? Why are these designers still here?"

"We should have kept the fish girl and the egg boy instead of these catalogue designers. Nina is sickened by the lack of talent. SICKENED."

"I leave you people for a couple of weeks, and this is what you have waiting for me when I come back? Shitty retreads? Why? Why can't I trust you to do the right thing when I'm not here, Heidi? Didn't I leave you extensive instructions? Didn't I tell you what to say?"

"Well, they haven't really done anything too bad. We just figured when you and Michael came back, we could --"

"HA! I'm just fucking with you. Now let's send one of these losers packing. Send the girl home. She's too perky and she gets on my nerves."

NINA CAPS :D:D:D:D:D:D

This has made my day! Thanks a million, you guys!!!

Nina Screens!!!!! Love it!

La Nina! We have missed you so! (And missed TLo's screencaps even more, if that's possible.)

"She looks like a hooker in Bedrock" -- sheer genius.

And yes, they're hoping Logan will still have THE ROMANCE OF THE CENTURY with one of the girls. Except for Irina. Irina is more likely to go Lorena Bobbitt on Mr. Shinypants than to f-ck him.

it's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants

Oh TLo, that's why I love you guys!

The screen caps were awesome!!

"HA! I'm just fucking with you. Now let's send one of these losers packing. Send the girl home. She's too perky and she gets on my nerves."

ROFLMAO.

I didn't think Christopher's was that bad. Now let me go hide.

"Bottom Boys - the Sequel"

hahahahaa it's true, they're both bottam AGAIN. Love you boys!!!!!

Pebbles gone bad: two shiny stones
Retro Lady Marmalade: stolen from an unconscious PussyCat Doll
Nina Screencaps: Priceless

The Nina Caps were the best thing about this entire episode!

Dear God, I think I broke something laughing at the Nina screencaps and at this, which may be the funniest line you boys have ever written:

"It's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants."

*Brilliant!* And so true! Logan's design was the one that should have been auf'd. It's simply awful in every way and he hasn't shown us anything really wonderful this season.

And I also don't understand why everyone's so down on Christopher lately, the non-bridal gown aside (Geez, that was awful!). This look had a lot going for it and I loved the reveal. At least it had a Mackie-esque feel to it, which is more than I can say about any of the other designs except Nicolas's.

Love the Nina screens :)

Onto the crapiness. Okay when I first looked at Christopher's I thought it was bad, but I also thought that it really was one of the few that looked like something that a pop star could move around in on stage. And he really did think about it. He had a clear concept which none of the other desingers really had. I will give him points for thinking of the reveal idea. It's just too bad his outfit was poorly made. As some people have been saying I'm sure if judges were consistent this being constantly in the bottom wouldn't slide. He probably would've gone a while ago.

Logan...oh Logan. They better hurry up and chock up this "romance" (which will most likely never happen) so that we can see him go already because really, this was awful. The worst part of course was the fur. There's just no defending it. "Hooker in Bedrock" is dead on. Also someone we should've gotten rid of a while ago. He's not even that hott. Cute sure. Hott no.

Love you guys for making my afternoon :)

-Samantha

And the color in Wilma's dress would be...gray and black? Huh! :-)

I missed Nina and her screencaps. I used to not like her and Michael (gasp)! I think it was when they didn't appreciate my heroine Laura Bennett :-) They are the most entertaining thing on the show now, along with Tim. Plus I'm not emotionally invested in any designer since Laura (it's the "home sewer" in me).

And Cristopher's pants? Total fug. So sorry little fluffy bunny of fashion.

NINA SCREENCAPS! OH GOD HOW I MISSED THOSE!!!

HA. The Nina captions were hilarious! Oh Nina, we all know what you were Really thinking.

I also agree with your point that these guys should get a bonus for just following the actual challenge. Since when do popstars like Beyonce and Christina and Britney wear gowns on stage? No, they need to look hot and move around! These two sparkly short dresses are actually something I expect see at a concert.

Laughing so hard!

"I leave you people for a couple of weeks, and this is what you have waiting for me when I come back? Shitty retreads? Why? Why can't I trust you to do the right thing when I'm not here, Heidi? Didn't I leave you extensive instructions? Didn't I tell you what to say?"

You boys made my day!

Dear God,

Please never let another season like this one happen again. EVER.

TLo said: ""I leave you people for a couple of weeks, and this is what you have waiting for me when I come back? Shitty retreads? Why? Why can't I trust you to do the right thing when I'm not here, Heidi? Didn't I leave you extensive instructions? Didn't I tell you what to say?"

BRILLIANT!!

I don't know which is better - the return of LaNina or your screencaps....actually, I do - your screencaps have been the highlight of this lame season. TFF!

I get the reason why they kept Ms. Crissy even though his costume was beyond fugly. Painful.

But Logan. [sigh] wish they would just give up the ghost and send his sad & sorry ass home. He's not that cute or hot! Marginally talented at best, worthy of perhaps [lowering voice] that other show.

I'm still laughing over that "hooker in Bedrock" line.

srq

YAY! amazing T-LO Nina screencaps FTW! And yes, Christopher is the fluffy bunny of fashion. I still love him. I think if the color combo had been different it wouldn't have been that bad. Def. bottom 3 but I still agree with the auf.

the faux-romance between logan and dr. w. is SO thin. they reused the same interview moments with dr. w. saying he is "hot and distracting but just a friend" from the last episode they tried to hint at this pathetic non-storyline.

someone else yesterday posted the link to this nina interview, read it...and then find and watch the epperson interview video:

http://popwatch.ew.com/2009/10/15/nina-garcia-speaks/

thank god the real judges are back for the rest of the run.

I actually didn't think Christopher's entry was that bad, either. The hot pants were bad and the bustier does look ill-fitting, but I liked the outer garment. It seems like one of Lady Gaga's (uh) better outfits.

I think it hurt Logan that he knew nothing really about Christina, but his entry's still not worse than Shirin's.

OMG
MWAAAHAAAHA!
Funiest screencaps ever!
I'm going to have a bunch of embarrassing laughing for no apparent reason moments today.
ooooooooh, haha!

I have to say what this show has really proved to me is that it's nothing without La Nina and the Duchess. The judging this week was just SO MUCH BETTER than it's been and now we need Senor Tangerine back with La Nina.

The best thing about Nina being back is the fodder for TLo screencaps!! You, dear boys, make the show come alive.

And for the record, I'm not one of the Christopher haters. He really seems like a sweet guy who has delusions of design grandeur.

Am I the only one who was surprised there wasn't a comment about the usage of fur for a Christina outfit? She's been vocally anti-fur and even posted for a PETA ad that was anti-fur. Considering they even had a clip of Logan saying, "I hope she doesn't mind fur" the lack of follow-through was odd.

I really like Christopher, he seems like a total love but I really think he needs to go to design school for a bit. He's just as creatively talented as any of the others, but they've been taught some technical tricks that he just doesn't have in his skill set.

As for Logan, well once again the pictures you've posted here are showing a level of detail I didn't notice when watching the show. I like the hook-and-eye closures down the sides a lot, but then he did nothing with them! I mean that is perfect for a quick change, but nothing? Really? Ugh, come on Logan! Wake Up!!!

If Logan is being kept in hopes of some romance to spice up the season, then Christopher is being kept to indulge the 'small town boy gets shot in the big city' narrative. I can already imagine the back story when Tim goes to visit him at home while he's making his collection. Yawn. I was certain that he'd go packing the way Nina was wincing and saying AWFUL during their debrief. All of that said, I pretty much agree with your assesment. Onward!

With the range of emotions that Nina shows, you could create a whole set of emoticons for a pbb board or livejournal or something. I love it.

OMG, I am screaming right now! This was one of the funniest entries you've had in a while. You guys are ON today!
As for Christopher, I didn't mind his outfit too much, but the shorts didn't go with the top at all. Had they matched a little more, it would have worked better.
Logan's was a mess. Loved your comments about him, but I think you're right. They are looking for a romance, or maybe just a hookup, but he's the rooster in that henhouse for sure.

Christopher did at least work toward the brief, so that's something. He's clearly kind of burned out, though, and I almost want to see him aufed just to end the suffering. (I'd prefer to see him start producing work of the same caliber of the first half of the season.)

Logan as third from the bottom...I don't get it. I can only say that the unavailability of Michael and Nina has had a ruinous impact on the judging.

Just when I thought things couldn't get better, they do. The Nina captions are brilliant.

Screencaps of win! ^_^

I don't hate Christopher. I'm just disappointed by his output lately. I thought I was gonna like his stuff, but he's really sorta lost it.

I wasn't rooting for him to be sent home or anything, but if he had, I wouldn't have minded. Because, well, the execution? Not good. But, still, the concept? The concept was actually pretty good. And honestly I didn't think it looked that much like the Lady Marmalade outfit (which was way, way sluttier), but, eh, whatevs.

I... probably will get people sneering at me, but, can I say, I kinda liked Logan's? Not, um. Not the cavewoman thing (and I will be so glad when that falls into the obscurity it deserves), and I'm not gonna try to defend that jacket, but I loved that he used a pattern (yes, even a tiger stripe) and those fasteners on the side were, I thought, a really interesting detail, if perhaps not extravagent enough for a stage outfit. I don't mind him staying around for that one.

If your designing for cristina of course your design is going to be tacky, every thing I seen her wear have been tacky and cheap looking so Chris was right on withhis design.

The Nina screencaps so hilarious and fun, I really could give a rat's ear about Logan's and Christopher's crummy designs.
Viva La Nina and Viva Tlo!!!!!

Did anybody else get the idea that Nina was disgusted with pretty much everybody? I got the vibe that if she had her way, she would have sent everybody home and called the season off.

You guys re funny, but seriously where is the color on Logan's look, cause both on my tv & computer it looks grey/black.

I get why Christopher was kept in. I'm actually more pissed that Nicholas skated by with that shortend retread of his ice queen dress.

Christopher's needed polish and more umphh. Ironically I think revealed look was a little boring. As Tim mentioned not slutty enough

Logan's was green with black print. He was actually on the right track but as Nina said he didn't go far enough. It was clear the judges were not going to off him from the extended clip since he did use color and he gave Xtina something different. The idea of using chains instead of sequins could have been really cool and fun on stage.

And honestly those 2 outfits I really did not feel were the worst or poorest showing. I'm looking at you Gordana

Regardless Logan's outfit did inspire Bob mackie to come up with 1 hell of a zinger

Frank

Your Nina screencaps are always the best. Classic post, thanks for the laugh :)

Oh and Logan's was awful. Should have been bottom two or auf. He's definitely middle of the pack. He hasn't shown any reason why he deserves to go to bryant park.

Christopher desperately needs some fashion guidance to cultivate his talent.

I have no idea who should win Project Runway at this point. No one wows me.

Hahahahahahahaha! Snort!!
I'm wiping tears from laughing so hard at your Ninacaps. Mmmwah!

God, I wish it had been Lady GaGa instead.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I really loved the shape of Christopher's jacket- that bubbly skirt seems to be a signature of his and I think it would work wonderfully as part of a reveal onstage. So glad he didn't go home- someone has to represent the 612 since Ra'mon left.

Luckily La Nina is able to move her facial muscles this season, hence the hilarious caps! Thanks!

I love Nina.

And the second Logan's outfit turned the corner, I knew everyone would be piling on the Wilma comments. Fur and animal print and one-sleeved? Egad.

Christopher is a sweetheart, but he's consistently produced looks that fall short. I'm also a little annoyed that Heidi was all, "Gordana, if you didn't have immunity, you would be gone and possibly drawn and quartered," when her look was nowhere near as bad as Christopher's.

I'm still scratching my head over why anyone would want to design a costume for Christina Aguilara in the style of Bob Mackie? It sounds like an assignment that God would give to Givenchy in Purgatory.

I liked the bustier but only for Valentine's Day sexy night fun. The rest of the outfit, especially those weird buttons and inappropriate use of a bubble skirt (did Christopher learn nothing from Angela?) was pure fug. I always thought hot pants looked pretty good on Christina's tiny little body, better than some of the retro wear she's been choosing lately.

What I didn't get why no one used COLOR?

Loving the screencaps!

Christopher's can be fixed in two easy ways: first, rip off heinous jacket buttons and throw them in the gutter(large buttons say 'craft project' to me, i don't know why). Second, do not remove coat to reveal the sequined mess underneath.

As for Logan's outfit, I think it's Xtina-ish (i.e. made of fabric and accessories one would never wear oneself, even if a stage diva), but the chains were just such a bad idea.

-Anon1

I love Christopher. I love his Minnesota niceness, I love his cute little face (though I could do without the silly facial hair), I love him. It makes me sad that he keeps putting out poor designs, though I agree with TLo that this week's design was not so awful.

While we were watching this week's ep, I turned to my husband and said, of Christopher, "Can I take him home?" As in, he followed me home, can I keep him? Love Christopher. :-)

Nina screencaps: Brilliant. Genius.

(wiping laughter-induced tears from eyes)

Thank you!

I just love your Nina captions. You boys are hi-lar-i-ous!

I do agree that both those outfits were better than Shirin's, but it was the third time in a row that Christopher send something awful down that runway and is completely clueless about it. He deserves to go home for that, he has to be able to assert his own work and that is what is so annoying about him.

I missed Nina!!! And the screencaps are awesome.

Logan's was okay. It was just so under done. If he had done something at the bottom edge, like fringed it in the zebra pattern..
The shrug he could have left off altogether.

Christopher (whom I do not hate) has just kind of reached the end of his creative rope. The pick-up bubble has graced the runway too many times. His technique is too haphazard. I think he has a very good attitude and is extremely hard working. And I hope he either apprentices with someone or goes to school after he is auf'ed. Truthfully Gordana had the worst entry.

I am laughing so hard-- my 7 yr old wants me to read the screen caps.....

not on your life! I will have to read these again and again-- you boys are fabulous!

Nina screecaps: super awesome!!!! I think that at the end of this season, you should do the top 10 of Nina's screencaps, or just a compilation of the best ones... I don't know, they are one of the best things about PR :-)

The whole time Nina was on, I was picturing TLo rubbing their hands together with glee!

Your Nina caps, as always, priceless!

I'm sticking with Team Christopher.

What Christopher's look need more than anything was a pair of fishnets to accessorize it.

And I don't get all the Christopher-hate either. It wasn't a bad look: Conceptually it was actually on of the better ones. The under part just needed to be fitted better & I wish there was more COLOR (but I know I'm beating a dead horse here, with these designers who are all color-phobic.)

--GothamTomato

Loved the screencaps, as usual. About these entries: I kind of liked both of them! More for the concept than for execution, but still. They were the least boring out of all of them, the most different, the most - potentially - stagey. I wish Logan had pushed his farther, as the judges had said, but I thought it wasn't bad. I generally like what he makes. Maybe it's because I like catalog wear?

im sure others can agree
(especially this season)
that its times like this that i look forward to TLo more than PR
.therightpeople.

OMG, the screencaps! You have not done enough screencaps this season, TLO ... please ... more!

I hated Christopher's outfit on the show but now that I'm looking at the photos, it's growing on me.

Why do the producers play up Logan's good looks? Yes, he's pretty, but kind of bland, no?

Unrelated to the clothes: Kohji's makeup is fabulous.

Also: I never thought Christopher was that great. Not one of the strongest designers this season, sorry.

this is my favorite TLO post all season!

I kept wishing Nina would get up on the runway, because from what I could see of it I *loved* what she was wearing!

Oh, I've missed Nina's comments in your posts!

Both these looks were bad but they were definitely closer to fitting the challenge than the mess Shirin made. And if Christopher's had just been made better, it wouldn't have been that bad at all.

Those screencaps are the blog equivalent of Mackie's Gone With the Wind dress.

=================
I thought Nina's reaction to Christopher's outfit was a bit over the top. The worst part wasn't that it was retrospective of Lady Marmalade, the worst part was that none of the three pieces were cohesive.

==================
Logan, I don't care if you don't know who X-tina is. You met Bob Mackie and saw his work. That's all you really needed to know about the challenge. And why hid perfectly good hot pink fabric? If he had done a better peek-a-boo effect (and lost the fur) he could have won the challenge.

I think you are being too hard on Logan. He tried for a little showmanship. Yes-it was cave wear, but a cute idea. The only real problem was that fur cape with the little chains. Didn't quite work (fur too big, chains too small) but I liked the dress and appreciate that he was thinking of a show, not a runway gown. Not my favorite, but not bad.

"We should have kept the fish girl and the egg boy instead of these catalogue designers."

Oh god YES!

Re Christopher - I don't dislike him as a person; what I dislike is that I'm supposed to like his designs because he is cute and nice. It's about as obnoxious as keeping Logan around because he is "Hot" and not gay.

I'm here for the fashion - if it's sufficiently interesting, I don't care who's making it. If I wanted to watch a reality show in which the point is the casts' personalities I'd watch Survivor (which I do).

These screencaps are absolutely THE BEST PART of this entire PR season.

Truly.

Missed Nina, even more so missed your Nina screencaps, so Welcome Back!!!! Thanks for the laughs, TLo!

Am I the only one who doesn't think Logan is hot? Nice guy, but in the looks department, he is a half a notch below average.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

I laughed.

I cried.

Gawd, I heart you Boyz. And Nina.

the producers are totally fucking christopher, that's the only possible excuse

mark my words, he's making it to the final three...

Christopher seems like a super sweet guy, but he keeps giving the same design: A bustier, and bubble skirt. They were on separate pieces. I like him and some of his designs, but am starting to feel frustrated with that repetition. I think that's where some people are coming from. He needs to step up his game, before he gets eliminated.

Logan did a couple of interesting things with his dress, but really didn't take it far enough. I liked the corset tape, it was interesting. The jacket was a huge mistake, though. Also, using animal print fabric with a wilma neckline inevitably got the caveman comparison. He needs to step it up, and it sounds like he is trying to do that.

Annsunny

Your Nina caps are better than anything on the show. I miss Nina when she's not there at least partly because there's no La Chica to screen cap.

Christopher's wasn't great and it was tasteless, but we're talking Christina Aguilera here. Taste is not usually what she's going for, and Christopher has done some cute things in the past. Logan's was just his latest bad design in a long line of bad and forgettable outfits. He needs to go. Although at this point, I don't much care who gets aufed. None of them have shown themselves to be Fashion Week material.

Thanks goodness that bitch Nina came back.

It gets boring being the only right one all of the time.

Rainwood said, "Although at this point, I don't much care who gets aufed. None of them have shown themselves to be Fashion Week material."

Exactly! The only thing that rises my passions this season is the utter wrongness and witchiness of Judge Samuel (it's like she was replaced by Kenley with her immature, rude comments) and the harm that has been done to my beloved PR franchise. I hope that all the issues have been worked out in PR 7 in NY, because if the next season is as uninspiring as this one, I won't even be reading the TLo blogs on PR let alone watching PR....although I'll ;) be still reading the PR blogs on Glee!

i just wish there was consistency on the part of the judges. sometimes a contestant will be sent home because their garment was the worst and then there are times when someone is sent home for some other reason (ie. epperson.) i just wish there were clear defined guidelines as to what sends a contestant home.

Who cares if one of designer is nice and the other one is a bitch.
Is not the the design the one we should care about. There is alot of nice people that doesn't make them designer. I bet most famous designer aren't that great to be around them. It's suppose to be a design show not who we like.

Still disagre. I don't hate Christopher, but he has sent ass down the runway one too many times. If MK and Nina were here the whole time I am convinced he would be out. And I think the sad, sad bustier should have sent him packing.

Agreed: Christopher's wasn't that bad. It was stagewear, it had quick change capability.

Why all the hate for Christopher? He's so fun to watch!

And yes, Logan seems to be present purely for non-design-related reasons. Sad, that. He should have gone home instead of Epperson two weeks ago.

Love the recap, darlings, absolutely hilarious!

I confess that when I hear the name Bob Mackie, I suffer a flashback to the absolutely absurd costume he made for a San Francisco Opera production of Lulu (a work I absolutely adore). Wrong dress for the work, and the poor soprano (a lovely young singer without the experience to pull off the role) was overwhelmed by it... Before that, I could not have imagined anything would ever have the power to distract me from Berg's music...

This is not to deny the marvelous event that is Bob Mackie, whose work in other fora is nothing less than spectacular——

More to say I would have been happy to see his Lulu costume come down the runway in place of the sleep-inducing pieces we got——

I confess that I am with those who did not hate Logan's, which surprised me, since nothing he has done so far has impressed. But the Wilma aside, at least he had an idea, and if taken further, as Mr. Mackie himself suggested, it could have been interesting.

I am neither a lover nor a hater of Christopher, although I do find him a bit one-note. That said, while I hated the jacket (it just looked silly and awkward to me), while I thought the rest of the outfit poorly made and insufficiently slutty (in response to a post above, I would not even wear it for Valentine's night fun——it was neither sexy nor well-made enough), he, too, at least had an idea.

Shirin had no ideas, and while I was sad to see her go (as sad as I can be about anything in this season of discontent), I can understand the choice. Mustering up the anger I felt over Epperson's auf'ing is beyond me.

All that said, what disappointed me most in this challenge was the absolute lack of humor. Bob Mackie is fun and fabulous, but none of the designers showed even the tiniest hint of something remotely resembling a sense of humor in their approach. Even Nicolas did not seem to be having enough fun.

The only humor came with the return of La Nina (and TLo's screencaps).

That, more than the auf'ing of Shirin, is what made me truly sad.

OMG, I laughed my butt off reading this post. Too funny! Absolutely top form, TLo.

Love, love, loved the Nina-caps. The expressions you caught were priceless.

Both of these garments were sad duds. Too wimpy!! Where is the daring, the exhuberance? Did this bunch EVER have any courage, or did Heidi scare the living daylights out of them with her nastiness earlier on and they're not willing to go very far off the safe path in fear of her wrath?

Buncha losers.

Chris March could have done better with Shamwows and tin foil, in about 15 minutes.

TLo wrote: "On the other hand, it's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants."

Funniest comment of all time.

Hooray for Nina screencaps!!!

It wasn't my favorite, but I actually liked Logan's look and thought Koji (sp?) looked fabulous in it.

Laughed until I cried.

Love you two!

This post is a perfect example of why I love to visit this site: it speaks to its audience on many levels - and it's hilarious too! Thanks!

Christopher's hot pants were a mess because he let Katie dictate the design. A model can't be self-conscious about her body - she should be able to walk down the runway wearing only pasties and a thong without any complaint. Katie is in the wrong industry if she is worried about how her butt looks.

Christopher IS adorable, and nice, but how many chances does he get when better designers have been aufed for less. He needs more experience, and I'm sure this IS a learning experience for him, but he's something of a one trick pony (bunny?). He needs to turn down the "volume", it's a signature he has forged once too often, whether it suits his model or not, and show some versatility. I can't imagine that they would let either him or Logan (or Pocahontas for that matter)slide into the final three. I'm going with Dr. Whitfield, evil Irina, and Althea.. with Gordana as the dark horse. And if you want lack of color, you should take a look at the three collections that did make it to Bryant Park!

The hell with Project Runway. We should have a new show where someone with a camera follows Nina around all day taking her picture and then TLo writes screencaps. I'd watch it!

I thought Christopher had one of the best creations conceptually, but it fell short on the execution side, perhaps he spent most of his energy on the wrap which was not focused on. Sorry Nina-philes, save for TLo-caps, Nina and her TASTE.FUL.NESS could have sat this one out, I agree with Christina, Christopher deserves a big fat E for Effort, had it been better executed and if he turned up the volume a notch or two (more color, sexier corset), this would have been one of the better designs.

yeah! ho! wah!

dear tlo, a little flattery: at this point im mostly watching project runway so i can enjoy your blog more. your nina screens are a prime example. you guys rock!

apropos of nothing: im starting to think that the final three are logan, christopher and irina. collection #1 is logans: chic and a little punk, but lacking the wow-factor. #2 is christophers: feminine, volume, drab colours. #3 is irinas: her trademark coat. also, the villain is always in the final three, and obviously none of the collections is nicolas'.

Christopher's costume screamed, Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver! Young/teenager hooker. Anyway, luv the Nina captions.

"There is nothing amusing about Christopher's look. It sickens me."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. laughing so hard at the screens. soooooo hard.

"It's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants."

It's due to gems like this that I am often found in a good mood.

I don't get the hate for Miss Crissy, either.

She just made a "Dirrty" outfit for Christina Agui;;ereoa[ka. or whatever...

Who cares?

Logan, Logan, Logan... at least with Christopher he seemed to have an idea, however I am intrigued by the cave woman idea that Logan stumbled upon, a 1,000,000 Years BC inspired look would have been cool in my taste.less opinion - a super sort, sequiny leopard / zebra skirt or hot pants with a bikini top with a fur jacket.

Re: Christina, PETA and fur, I think it's show rule that any fur used on the show is always fake fur—remember Chris March scooting around the rules with his use of human hair, since there wasn't a rule against that? I would assume guest judges are informed of that before cameras are rolling.

Also, I don't know what fur trim costs, but I can't imagine that there is room in the designers' meager challenge budgets for anything other than the cheapest of fake fur, right?

I can't tell you how much I've missed your Nina dialogues. Hearts and stars.

I don't get the hatred for Christopher, either. However, Nina did seem to want to stand up for Shirin a bit more than the others did. She looked so deeply disappointed in her, poor Nina. I saw none of that for Christopher, or Logan, so I was a tad surprised. Still, looking them over, while they are decidedly sad and fug, they are not as pathetic a mess as Shirin's dress, which was exactly what Heidi dubbed it: a witch costume. Logan wasn't saved by his penis, he was saved by Shirin's meltdown. Christopher was saved by thinking up two distinct looks and the reasons behind them, even if they were both horrid. I really didn't have that much of a problem with the auf.

However, I agree with screencap!Nina. The lack of talent shown on that runway this week, meinen Freunden, it hurt my eyes. I'm starting to think "Project Runway" jumped the shark with the move to L.A.

OMG ... my favorite TLo post of the season so far!!! ROFLAO!!!!!

XOXOXOXOXOXO

bitchybitchybitchy

Christopher's can be fixed in two easy ways: first, rip off heinous jacket buttons and throw them in the gutter(large buttons say 'craft project' to me, i don't know why).

I had the same thought when looking at Christopher's design. Those buttons looked chip and crafty.

I don't hate our little fluffy bunny of fashion. I just think that he's faltered a bit in the past two challenges. Christopher is probably another young, self-taught designer who might benefit enormously from working with an established designer.

Oh Logan, Logan, he seems as if he's a nice enough guy, but I think that his designs have been underwhelming.

the Nina screencaps are priceless-sooo glad that she is back and gave TLo some wonderful opportunities.

Thanks for the Nina caps! One of the best parts of this episode was knowing you would have Nina/Heidi to play with.

"Hooker in Bedrock"!!!! Could not stop laughing uncontrollably while reading the screen caps!

Boys, file the restraining order now. I loved you before, but after this post...full blown adoration!

The Nina-caps have me crying!! Brilliant!! Thanks, so much, for completely making my day!! Love you boys!

Asparagus lust

You mean inside one of the judges! Such schlock over a sorta cute guy I have never seen. Big laugh over your apt comment.

I didn't think Logan's garment was that bad, considering that Christina's look can be summed up as "skimpy." He just didn't take it far enough -- imagine a whole dress made out of chains -- and the one-shouldered look has been done to death.

I winced when Christopher mentioned Cyndi Lauper because Cyndi's look is so well known, while Christina's is only the aforesaid skimpy. Those shorts were really terrible, too; they looked like they were going to fall off, and I don't think that even Xtina wants to go that far.

"in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants"""... u guys kill me...

TLO, I love you and agree with you!

What's with all the hate for little Chris. It really makes no sense.

And while there were problems with his look, it was a STAGE look, and many of the others were just dresses. The Little whore of Bedrock look was dull with that hideous animal on the back.

Please, TLo, I beg you: screencaps for EVERY PR post!!! They're the best part of this dismal season!

These designers: what a bunch of sad sacks. Let's auf them all and skip straight to season seven

it's amazing how everyone falls like dominos and agrees with TLo.

Now granted, they're almost ALWAYS right.

But last week the Lounge went nuts because Logan was kept in and when TLo said they felt Christopher's was worse everyone agree.

Second verse, same as the first.

Can't anyone stick to their opinions?!

The bottom two were correct!

Logan's was well made this time, though inappropriate for stagewear.

But at least it was a f*g figure skating costume like two of them@!@R#G

And he didn't make nipples on a dress like the precious Gordana who can do no wrong according the minions here. (I like Gordana for the most part as well, but she's not the 2nd coming to Lagerfeld. Hell she's not the 2nd coming to Stella McCartney!)

Jesus, you guys KILL me! So freakin' hilarious, especially the Logan comment. Missed your screen caps - glad they're back. Thanks for a good laugh, boys! I needed it!
-MINDO

Ah TLo ~ the Nina-Caps are sublime. Thank You.

I may import the lot of them into photoshop and print them on iron-transfer paper. My very own Nina-Caps t-shirt. :)

re: Christopher. Oh Honey, giant buttons are the 'coke-bottle-bottom eyeglasses' of the garment world. They are for clown-suits and toddler sweaters.

re: Logan. I don't hate this look.(without the faux-carcass, that is) One of the judges said that at least it looked youthful. I agree -- while it was both tacky & bland (a feat in itself) it WAS a viable stage look for a singer/dancer. still....meh.

Austin Sally

I am happy. First Nina's actually interesting judging (no "oh, I would totally wear that!") and THEN, gentlemen and THEN: Ninacaps. *sighs with happiness*

Plus the Logan quip. Life is good in Minionland.

I'm entertained, but still think all three of the bottom deserved to be there, and still would rather have seen either of the boys go over Shirin. More interested in what she might have done in the future.

Really not feeling the love for Christopher's outfit now that I've seen it better - I've seen much better home sewn burlesque costumes here in my home town. Not that I hate Christopher, how could one? Logan's outfit actually looks better in these photos than it did on my small screen, but still, it indubitably missed the boat.

Funny AND quite possibly true!

i'm not dorothy gale

I scrolled through too quickly initially, saw there were screencaps and forced myself to r-e-a-d everything before them, just to prolong the exquisite pleasure and endless laughter your wit always provokes.

Bless you, boys!

more, please, MORE!!! like a kid on Christmas morning ... please, PLEASE more!!! ohhh - my sides ache.

Kojii looks amazing in Logan's dress. At least without the weirdass fur collar.

Ah, I'm just repeating, but you and Miss Nina are geniuses.
I like the detail up the side of Logan's dress, kinda cool.
The hot pants. . . square dance ladies wear pants like that for when they spin around and their spankies hang out. Not okay for Christina.

I love you guys!!! This was a great post!!! Love the play by play! Makes watching the show tolerable at this point! Thanks!!

The problem with Christopher's outfit, which Nina alluded to, was that, if you're going to do a reveal then the thing you're revealing needs to be SPEC-TAC-ULAR.

And that wasn't.

I actually don't think Logan is that bad. It's just that he has a definite point of view - sporty, punky daywear with clean lines - that doesn't lend itself at all to all these interminable make a starlet's red carpet gown/cocktail dress/stagewear challenges.

I also don't think he's very well served by Kojii. She has an utterly stunning face but a L-O-N-G body and short legs (she's shorter than most of the other models, no?) which make many of the garments he makes for her seem badly proportioned, even though they fit her well.

I didn't think either Logan or Christopher's outfits were terrible. They at least looked like stagewear instead of red carpet. Boy, SAFE is the new watchword at PR.

On an entirely different note, even though i wasn't crazy about the styling, I LOVED that Logan got Kojii's styled up so we could really see her face. She is truly a beautiful girl. The bangs are definitely a cool trademark, but seeing the emphasis on her eyes gives her a whole new look.

–EP

Did anyone else catch the editing mistake when Logan and his model were on stage, she took off the jacket so the fur jacket was off, then the fur jacket was on again, then the fur jacket was off.

You guys are killing me with the screencaps! I cackled like a crazy woman. Heee!

I don't hate Chris, but I don't like him as much as Shirin. Her look this week was actually worse, though.

It's not her ass that's the problem area, it's those COTTAGE CHEESE THIGHS!
Pass the Ritz!

The screen caps are priceless!!!!

Honestly, Logan's design inspired by a movie genre is way hotter than this Flintstone look.

haha, whaaat?! i am shocked that ANYONE is trying to justify the outfit that christopher made. every single thing just looks so painfully cheap. giant buttons like the ones he chose make me gag, and the rest genuinely does look like a halloween costume. inexcusable!

Oh the Nina commentary is always delightful!

But I gotta say, I don't hate Christopher and thought at least he came up with a concept that could be part of Christina's act.

And Logan can fall on me with his penis, although Dr. W is truly waiting for her moment and she is, after all, his age. Sigh. But regardless, Logan attempted to go a different direction and for that, I'd keep him around to see what else he can do.

Was so curious to see Lulu's costume in the SF Opera production so here it is:

God I love it when you guys channel La Nina. Also "it's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants" made me laugh so hard. That is classic.

Oh Nina, please don't ever leave us again.

I have no animosity towards Christopher.

Logan's output has been so dull though, I wonder why he is kept around and models want to work with him so much.

Meh, all these Bob Mackie entries were dull and lifeless. Does not bode well.

This makes no sense. Because everyone thought Christopher should have gone home last week they're supposed to think he should have gone home this week too?

I didn't think Christopher's was horrible. Well, let me rephrase: the execution was bad, but at least he had a design concept that worked as an onstage costume. Logan's was just bad in almost every way.
On the other hand, their lack of auf'ing means that the two best models are safe. Katie and Kojii are keeping me tuned in more than any of the designs this season.

christopher has NO. TASTE. why do they always keep these horribly tacky designers on for so long? are we surprised the only good things he's made so far have been either pretty Barbie dresses or costumes?

christopher is the ONLY one that attempted a costume.
and IF his idea(of Cindy Lauper into Marmalade re-tread ) had been better executed I think he would have won!
plus,I kinda liked the jacket(runs and hides from your commenters)!

Did anyone else think Christopher's model Katie was a bit over the top on "Models of the Runway" with all her "I'm going to have a talk with Christopher" BS?

She's going to have a talk with him because his work hasn't been very good lately? And how, exactly, is she qualified or appropriate to "have a talk"?

I thought that was obnoxious. She's not there trying to design a look in 12 hours (or however long).

I'm going against the grain here, but I was fine with Shirin going home and liked Logan's look

Hers was just depressing, dark, and poorly made
while she did some fab looks early one (loved the pregnancy dress), she's been in the background for a while
and I still think she should have been called out for her costume
she's been overshadowed by designers who really go for it and try to be different

Logan should have gone home last week, no question, but his piece this week had more inspiration than a lot of looks on hte runway
he did something edgy, and a little rock and roll
I loved the way he styled Koji, and it would have been a much more practical outfit on stage than the gowns
plus, it looked like a new idea for christina, and there was some color!
and I could see his edgy, sleek rocker chick aesthetic come through
the biggest problem was just the execution

Christopher's was cute but terribly made
the shorts and bustier fitted poorly, and the whole look needed more color
also, hate the buttons
and the cyndi lauper inspiration was totally ridiculous
but the reveal was a good idea that would have worked on stage
and the outfit would have really stood out
I thought he deseved to be in the bottom 3, but also deserved to stay this week
he's floundered a bit lately, but he is never in the middle of the pack because he GOES FOR IT
and that's to be commended
his looks are always exciting and distinctly christopher (except for the terrible blue challenge) and that can often turn out gorgeous, dramatic results

I think Katie is out of place trying to give him design tips - she did it in this challenge and Christopher ended up with those awful hot pants. She needs to stick to being a "walking mannequin" or she audition as a designer for the next season of "Project Runway."

Still, her "talk" with Christopher should add some more drama to "Models of the Runway" (I miss Fatma!) besides the models sitting around the house and talking about how attractive Logan is.

I think Christopher's idea wasn't bad, but it wasn't executed well. If he had just utilized some color in the coverup coat and the bustier and hot pants (more color than those skimpy red stripes on the bustier), it could have been an easier sell.

Oh my!!! Those Nina screen caps had me cackling madly. I love you guys!!!

I'll say again - the cheap tacky fabric of the hot pants and the cheap tacky trim on the bustier were what I thought was the worse part of Christophers.

I do think that the light color, stripes, and shapes of the hot pants did not do her ass any favors. (And I do like her.)

those screen caps and captions were AHHH-MAZING!!! do more! do more! "He's back in the USSR, and I DO know how lucky I ARE"

I did not think that Chris should have gone home. Like you said, he had a concept, he gave her a quick change and the ability to dance.

But LOGAN. He needs to go. Too much eye candy but nothing substantial to chew on. His time is so far done.

Do I think either outfit is particularly good? No. But they actually created STAGE wear! At least they got that part of the challenge right. There was a lot of pretty at the top, but the only one that actually belonged on a stage was Nicolas's.

I don't understand how Christopher's model would be responsible for those hot pants. Christopher chose to design them and then "construct" them out of that horribly tacky fabric. The same Christopher who chose to adorn that jacket with those horribly tacky buttons. Regardless of whether she was comfortable in them, I think she simply saw them as they were - HEINOUS! I think the whole "I hate my butt" thing was her way of deflecting her true opinion of his ugly clothes. There's no question Christopher has produced a couple of amazing outfits this season but he has also exhibited a complete lack of insight into what looks good on a woman and more importantly what is FASHIONABLE.

My GOD, that bustier was doing more damage to her body than those hot pants could ever do!

To her credit, she walked the shit out of that outfit and to be frank, I think her skills as a model are a large part of the reason Christopher has done as well as he has in this competition. True, she might have been better served by keeping her opinions to herself but I think she genuinely wanted to help him with a clearly flawed product.

I get why one might want to root for him -- he's so innocent and vulnerable, like a lost kitten -- but let's reserve the blame for those who truly deserve it.

Furthermore, in the event, Christopher was swayed by his model, he only has himself to blame. He is the designer - stand by your design. Scapegoating the model is not only poor form but incredibly lame.

Either Christopher or Logan should have gone home. Having said that, I can't believe anyone could say something hateful about Christopher. He clearly is an adorable young man who just needs some time in fashion school.

Shirin=still robbed

I don't hate Christopher at all, but I think Shirin is clearly a better designer than he is.
I just looked back at all of the challenges, and Shirin's work has been leaps and bounds ahead of Christopher's. Not only that, but she has shown more than once that she has the ability to take a client's cracked-out requests and turn out a tasteful garment.
Between the two of them, Christopher should have gone home, in my opinion.

On another note, wow...I hadn't noticed how truly shit-tastic Logan's dress was until I saw the close-up pics here. You're right; he has exceeded his expiration date on this show.

Indeed, La Nina's return was glorious. Thanks for the screen caps She does need to put Heidi in her place! And I am not one who thinks Christopher should have gone home for at least attempting to make something like a Xtina costume, even though it wasn't well done. At least he attempted it. That's more than most did. Still, he is skating on pretty thin ice. I think he's a sweet little bunny too.

Logan, Logan, Logan. Thank God you're pretty. You do need to step it up, boy, or you'll have to do more than wear shiny pants to distract the judges.

Nina captions...the gift that keeps on giving. :-)

"On the other hand, it's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants."

I'd like to thank my pregnancy (8 years ago) for weakening my bladder...I laughed so hard when I read this I peed my pants. Sorry for the TMI.

This, and the La Nina screencaps, are GOLD. Seriously. Mine it, melt it and sell it. GOLD.

In my opinion, your best post yet. So ridiculously funny. Loved it, thank you.

Ok, yeah, Christopher's outfit is hookerish (or stripperish - why the garter if not for table dance tips?), but acceptable (sans garter) for stage wear.

What I didn't understand was the nonmatching silver hot pants. If they'd been black, or maybe even red (to match the detail on the bustier), this would have worked much better. Also, lose the garter.

I'm wearing something similar for Halloween.

"On the other hand, it's looking more and more obvious to us that Logan's being kept in the game in the hopes that he trips and falls and accidentally winds up with his penis inside one of the other contestants."

LOL! Will you marry me? Either one of you? I'm willing to overlook the fact that I have lady bits if you are.

And thank you for your comments on Christopher's design. Not the best execution, but I couldn't agree more that he at least thought about the specifics of the challenge and created an actual stage costume. I think he was on the right track, and he took some sort of chance. Which may be what saved him this time.

I completely agree that Christopher is completely responsible for the design and execution of those hot pants regardless of being swayed by his model.

I'm not trying to scapegoat Katie for the design of those hot pants. My only issue with her is that she didn't want to wear them because she is self-conscious of her butt. A model is supposed wear anything without complaint and sell it regardless of how she feels about her body.

did anyone notice that christina actually seemed to like christopher's A LOT?!! his and peppermint patty's were the only ones in my opinion that looked like something xtina might wear. but i guess the judging was based more on bob mackie style than appropriateness for xtina.

Oh, my god, your Nina Caps are to DIE. TLo, y'all are da bomb. I love you. -victoria

I've been gnashing my teeth all weekend over how fug Logan's look was. I couldn't even excite myself to come to these boards & bitch about it.

Your Nina caps are brilliant!! I love you and thank you from the bottom of my jaded heart!

I agree 100% with your assessment of Christopher. He created a stage look and it wasn't bad. The execution was kinda wanky, but the panache was there. I think his unforgivable sin is that he's homeschooled. Kevin from S5 didn't make it as far as Christopher and their resumes are about the same. And their taste level, too.

Logan? You guys nailed it on the head (insert pun here). I have nothing more to say of this contestant.

i think what might bug me the most is the repetition coming from Christopher. I'm not sure why he has not been called out on it yet. The avant garde look of the beach challenge and his movie dress challenge (and even his make a dress for a model challenge) all have this cinched waist with these stiff pleats coming out. It's getting on my nerves.

fragileindustries

Best. Post. Ever.

Worth sitting through this whole season in a state of smoldering resentment ... just to read this.

<3 TLo.

God, we all missed Nina, didn't we. Who knew the love we held inside, hidden, lo all these years. She obviously is your muse. More NINA!
