The clothes are all stunning, but the Balenciaga shot disturbed me a bit for some reason. I don't know, maybe cause the kid is damn near catatonic and his "Mom" is sitting on the bed with him with a dress cut down to her navel. Dunno, just a little creepy.

Gahhhhhh, fabulous. Why wasn't school like that for me when I was growing up?!

This is FABULOUS! You guys rock :)

So Mommy wore ten different outfits on the trip to take Junior to school for the first time? Wow! That must be why the Spongebob suitcase was so full.

It seems like the only part of the last look in the car that is from the Max Mara collection is the turtleneck. Am I getting that wrong?

Interesting editorial. I'll be spending Fall 2009 in Italia. I'll be looking for that mommy while I walk the streets of Roma.

Loved this, in no small part because "back to school for the rugrats" would be one of the LAST themes I would imagine for a high-fashion photo shoot, and they carried it off damn well. Gorgeous clothes too, of course.

What's with the 14 year old chauffeur....or is that the stepson?

Almost all were fab.

Also loved the B&W coat.

Any of these suit could have been very appropo for the MOH. Fashionable yet appropriate.

This was a very timely photo shoot for me, because I'm currently reading Joanne Harris' "Gentlemen and Players", which is set in an English boys school.

I love that B/W coat, BTW.

I covet that Alexander McQueen. COVET. I love it so much, I would put it on a dress form and have it be art in my house. OMG. (Plus, I'll never fit into designer clothes, haha.)

Anybody else think the Lanvin had a Judy-Noodles feel to it?

The styling rocks my world!

That is exactly what I wear when I drop off my wee precious ones at school.
Except if you try smoking a cigarette on school property they will put it out with a fire hose.

Fabulous photos! I agree about the Balenciaga though. TVKimmy said "maybe cause the kid is damn near catatonic and his "Mom" is sitting on the bed with him with a dress cut down to her navel. Dunno, just a little creepy."

For me I think it's the petrified corpse lying on the bed behind them. Reminds me of the second Harry Potter book.

Fabulous, but Mom doesn't look all that upset at dropping her little boy off. Rather she looks like she's ready to hit the martinis again.

I LOVE that Spongebob is in Vogue!

Hmm. Is Judy Noodles designing for Louis Vuitton now?

I like most of the clothes - LOVE the McQueen b/w houndstooth check suit (or is it a faux-suit that's really a coat?) & the Lanvin dress.

And, yes, the dormitory shot is creepy - but then, the whole photoshoot is creepy in a potentially good way - I REALLY would love to see a movie based on the Roald Dahl or Neal Gaiman novel written around it.

Is someone credited for the lively green suit the headmaster is wearing?

BTW, given the "moms" pictured, I find the headmaster's Prominently Visible Wedding Ring a marvelous detail.

How much are those Baldinini shoes? Or is the answer going to upset me?

Anyone else not loving the model in the Vogue shoot?

I love it all except the Louis Vuitton. The McQueen is probably my favorite - it translates surprisingly well without all the crazy styling. (Which I loved in the show, btw, but it was hard to divorce the clothes from the concept for me.)

This is what I expected Narcissa Malfoy to look like in the Harry Potter movies (albeit with blonder hair). I was severely disappointed with her make-up and costuming in the last movie. In fact, I feel like I'm watching a wee Draco Malfoy getting dropped off to school for the first time. (Am an HP geek.)

Love the spread. Really cool.

At some point I was waiting for the boy to turn to his mother and tell her "I see dead people."

sorry, one of the boys looks a bit like Haley Joel Osmet. ;)

I LOVE this spread.

In the fourth picture (the Yves Saint Laurent shot) who are the shoes by? Or can we get a close up? They look totally up my alley and I am coveting them from afar.

I want the clothes.
I want the luggage.
I want the car.

You can keep the kid!

(Note to PhantomMinuet: Gentlemen and Players is a fantastic book! I hope you enjoy it.)

ROFL.

Fabulous spread!

Many of the colours came out differently in the shoot when compared to the runway, and in some cases I liked it... in others, no.

The purple Givenchy dress in the overhead shot is much more interesting than on the runway, but he colours pop on the Louis Vuitton more on the runway than in the spread. Well done, either way.

And, LOVE LOVE LOVE the Aquilano e Rimondi. LOVE. Love love.

stunning. loved the concept. the kids remind me of the "village of the damn" just a tad creepy which i like.

thanks for sharing xo

Hi JacquiBear,

They're Cesar Paciotti (See fall 2009 collection).

I am in love with all the clothes. Especially the McQueen, I dream of wearing that coat. Seriously. I wouldn't say no to any of these, except maybe the MaxMara combo.

Mouthwaterlingly fab!! Thanks for this, you boys made my day!

Love, love, love the red Dior -- and the YSL.
Classics and very wearable.
Beautiful layout overall, although that kid is a little creepy.

HILARIOUS!!

Cool; the Addams Family goes high-fashion and moves to Stepford!

Loved the clothes, loved the shoot! It is all fantastic.

I too would like the car and the luggage from the first shot, but also I would like the chauffeur thrown in too.

Guys, I love these posts. They are so fabulous! Love all the dresses, the shoes, the bags...fabulous!

Freaking awesome!!!!

Vogue Italia always has the most gorgeous editorials.

I agree, it's so funny because you look at that dress on the runway and you think "How in this going to work in the real world?" and then you look at that photo and she looks absolutely amazing in that dress.

Boys, this is beyond fabulous :)

Gorgeous!! What else can I say?

That is why I pick up my daughter every day. LOL I wish.

Laura Bennett inspired a spread in Vogue!

oops I meant HOW i pick my daughter...

What's going on between Mommy and the headmaster? Oh I guess that's how she affords boarding school and the clothes ~Gary

When I look at this, I think Laura Bennett (in a good way). I want almost every piece shown.

Holy crap! I was so focused on the Child of the Corn there that I didn't even notice the body behind them. That seriously upped the creepy factor.

Love it.

Can't help thinking how different this story would be with an obviously English model as Mother.

The Alexander McQueen stole my heart. If I think about it too much, I may start to cry. Oh, gorgeous thing, why cannot you be mine? Misery! Misery and Woe! *sobs into tea*

Also, ZOMG! Louis Vuitton stole Judy's noodles! WHY ARE YOU ALL NOT AS OUTRAGED AS I? ("This is an outrage!" proclaims Mr Harrison of Dalston.)

Oh, right. You have lives. Ha! Yes. Right. Hm.

It's a hideous take on mothering, but absolutely stunning clothes!!

Anne, I didn't like her either. But maybe I just watch too many reality modeling shows...

I covet the Chanel dress, but I have to comment that my 7th grade daughter looks older than the runway model wearing it.

As a lover of vintage, I'm glad to see vintage is here to stay. More and more people are realizing the beauty of all things vintage. I love you site. I check in from time to time.

While I love the classic vintage looks, those padded exaggerated shoulders are very annoying.

The Aquilano black dress with the red detailing at the neck and the puffy-shouldered sleeves looks like "vintage Siriano."

another laura

awww, the trials and tribulations of the bored, uber-fabulous mommy! Don't worry, darling, the chauffeur looks kind of cute from here.

I still dream about the McQueen Fall 2009 collection.

thanks for the nice send-off for the weekend, guys!

The styles are absolutely amazing, but I'm really creeped out by the theme. These "mommies" look like vampires. I'm afraid for the children in these shots.

~ Ri

Alexander McQueen is God.

The Balenciaga dress and the McQueen houndstooth coat... Delicious.

The Headmaster doesn't look half bad either. Mmm.

The clothes and stylings are gorgeous, but I am a bit creeped out by the theme of the shoot.
The kids look drugged.

WHOA! Talk about MILF gone amuck!

honesty.not.pc

LOVE LOVE LOVE the clothes in this editorial. I like the shots too even though some of them are a bit creepy, this is a creepy I can take (unlike all the heavy S&M).

I want that McQueen coat/dress and the shoes!!!

Mummy looks pissed that they didn't make it to Platform 9 1/2 in time.

Oh look, he got his 14-year old sister to take him to school.

i'm not dorothy gale

That kid is going to need serious counseling! Great layout though; loved the kids gorging on soda.

Laura Bennett has some competition...now thats a "BAD MOMMY"

All the Mommies look like they're on Thorazine. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just interesting is all.

That Alexander McQueen seriously just made me gasp. I love it far too much to make coherent thoughts.

Those shoes in the McQueen shot. I think I just McPeed myself.

Feh. These clothes bore me. And the Louis Vuitton outfit offends my eyes.

I actually thought that the people in the picture you used for the thumbnail were mannequins until I saw her feet squeezed into her shoes.

Gorgeous! Love the Aquilano e Rimondi dress. That is fierce!

Man, I'd kill for those shoes.

The McQueen coat and the Baldinini shoes are kinda snazzy but the shoes look dangerous.

The more I look at it, the creepier it gets. Ugh, I just can't like this- it's too terrifying!

I don't understand this fashion for turning beautiful women into something that looks like a cross between a porcelain doll and a reanimated corpse.

Who's the Vogue model? She's fabulous.

These pictures are all extremely creepy.

Beautiful editorial: beautifully shot and styled, pretty creepy mother-child relationship (nonetheless fitting in that context) - for me Vogue Italia's editorials are pure love!

Covet: The car, the luggage, the chauffeur, the clothes (especially the McQueen) and the headmaster. As others have remarked, you can keep the kids at the boaarding school. :)

I'll say one thing, the clothes look 4000 times better with proper styling and photographic light than they do on the runway!!

Fantastic photography!

The Vuitton and Balenciaga photos are pretty disturbing actually - the Vuitton photo is such a weird one; is it just me or does the 'Mother' look like she's a mannequin with her head on at a tilt? DEATHLY PALE SKIN and lighting does not work well together, seriously. It doesn't help she looks like she's trying to shoot flies with the force of her glare either. And people have already remarked on the dormitory scene. XD

Of course, if they were going for the 'creepy/sullen/emotionless mother and son too high fashion to acknowledge mere mortal boys who actually look alive' angle...

Nice clothes, don't like the model. Shoot could have been good, but all involved just looked blank in the face and bored.

Where's AC/DC's Angus Young in his schoolboy garb when you need him??!!

Beautiful, I don't see anything creepy about it, and the clothes are TO. DIE.

I love how young the chauffeur is. Bad mommy, bad, bad, mommy. LOL Fabulous editorial, guys!!

The missing dialogue from the Balenciaga shoot:

“Winston darling, Mummy told you NEVER to kill one on the first day. Now I’m going to have to shag the headmaster again. It’s so tiresome.”

“I’m sorry Mummy. May I play with your shoes now?”

Somehow I don't think this is not so much mommy as it is daddy's new mistress.

poor kid!
haha.

I WANT those Baldinni shoes! No, I COVET them.

I covet that hair.

...and every other damn thing in this shoot.

Everyone is pressuring me to send my brilliant son to boarding/prep school. His middle school even offered a scholarship. His older brothers really think he should go. Thanks Vogue for helping me confirm my thoughts on this. He's not going!

I think this is every gay boys dream; to be taken to school every day by his FABULOUS mother, and parade her around the school saying "my mom wears Alexander McQueen, and your mom wears Walmart!"

I'm not fond of the last few photos, but the rest of them were amazing <3

Gorgeous editorial!

You misspelled the name of the model from Balenciaga show. Her name is Siri Tollerød.This editorial is gorgeous!

Hmmm. I dunno. I feel like it got it right on occasion, but sometimes it just kinda missed the mark. I loooove the concept, though.

THATS.
MY.
SCHOOL!

THATS MY SCHOOL THEY'RE GOING TO!

Whats up with the spoungebob bag and the explosive fizzy drinks??

Bancroftsschoolrocks!!

I love this! This was shot at my school! You can see the sign in the background of the first pic!
