Missing Persons Report: Nina and the Duchess

This is the topic that will not die.

All anyone wants to talk about is our missing bitches. Since Nina re-opened the wounds in her latest L.A. Times interview:

Several fans of the show have missed seeing you and Michael Kors in the judges’ chairs these last few weeks.
The reality is that both Michael and myself have other jobs besides “Project Runway” and he probably had to work on his following collection and I had to go to the collection. When it was in L.A. and in that time period that we filmed, it was very difficult to be there the entire time. He has another job, he’s a designer and work on his collection, and I had to fly to Paris to see the fashion shows for the fall. It was impossible to be there for an entire month.

We figured it was time to give the controversy its own post where everyone can vent. Here's a little something to get you started:

If Project Runway moved to L.A. so that Heidi can be closer to her family, losing Nina and Michael in the process, what would you as a fan rather have? An L.A.-based show with rare appearances from Nina and Michael or a NY-based show without Heidi? It's your very own Sophie's Choice, kittens. If you had to pull the trigger and make a decision, who does the show need more: Heidi or Nina and Michael?

Discuss. And be prepared to show your work.

It's sad when the most insightful guest judge thus far has been Lindsey Lohan.

A+ for suggesting Paulina Porizkova.

I was just thinking about that, and you know, she wasn't that bad all things considered.

If I don't have Heidi explaining 16 times per episode that one person will be the winner, and one person will be out, how will I understand the show?

Golly I got edited for agreeing with Mike A -
"As for location, New York is not the center of the universe."

Talk about inconsistency in "judging"

The challenges have been boring, the judges are boring, the vibrancy of NYC is sorely missing, and the lack of Michael and Nina has left a huge hole in the program. For me, Tim Gunn is the star of the show. Get this production back to Nina, Michael, and NYC!!!

replace heidi with iman! have you seen p.r. canada? iman is rad and lives in nyc.

I really want all four to stay around for the sake of my sanity. The show simply would not be the same without Heidi, Duchess, Nina, or Tim. So, either make Heidi suck it up and move to NY for a month, or continue this terrible excuse of a "judging panel". I vote for the first option.

I'm sorry, I'm not reading all 400 comments here, but how is the show really any different in Los Angeles, save from the unavailability of Nina/Michael?

This show could be filmed on the moon; the bulk of it is done inside. Is a FIDM classroom really all that different from one at Parson's? They even have the same bloody fabric store...

I really miss Nina and Michael. Heidi could be replaced. Iman was divine on PR Canada!

I like the dynamic of all four (Heidi, Tim, Michael, Nina). But if it's Heidi vs. Michael and Nina, bye-bye Heidi. The judging has been VERY uneven this season.

Consistent, educated judging is more important for a competition than one charismatic host.

I don't think Heidi brings anything special. I would much rather have NY, Nina, and the Duchess.

I can't really add to the snarky comments, but really, what's missing with not having Nina and Michael as judges every week is continuity. They build a relationship with the contestants and know when someone's sending bullshit down the runway because of the week-by-week involvement. I love having one guest judge to add a little spice to the regular panel but this weekly panel is messing with the judging big time. So, if it's Heidi's show, then Heidi needs to fine a new Nina and Michael to lay the bitches out and come up with funny, impromtu descriptions. My recommendation is: TOM AND LORENZO on the panel. Let's face it, you guys know how to judge this competition more than anyone. I doubt anyone is reading this as I'm like, the 450th poster, but guys, if you're reading, APPLY FOR THE JOB.

Welp, this is interesting...

the Orange Bitch is back, and she's pushing Miss Crissy into an Andre-like breakdown.

Can't wait!

Kors/Garcia/Gunn FTW! The show can easily do without Heidi. Her job is basically this:
1) introduce challenge
2) tell the designers what they just did in their challenge
3) introduce judges
4) "ooh, that looks expensive!"

If this show goes another season without Kors/Garcia, I'm not watching anymore. I've watched every episode since the beginning, but I'd leave it if in a second if they left.

This isn't even close to a "Sophie's Choice" kind of choice. Heidi is easily the least important part of the show. It needs Tim, Michael, and Nina to work. I wouldn't even mind LA if the challenges weren't so lame (like they have been this season, so far). Heidi's wooden, repetitive delivery was a laugh, at first, but I'm bored now. Everytime she says "and one of you will be OUT" I substitute "BEHEADED" for "OUT" just to keep myself amused.

There are maternity stores and obstetricians in New York, no? I have to agree with the majority here...either Heidi needs to find a way to, ahem, make it work or auf weidersehen! New York City is fashion. LA's fashion week is A JOKE compared to NY, and while Heidi is amazing...she's a supermodel. The Duchess and La Nina are the EXPERTS when it comes to construction and the like.

Besides that, the culture in LA is not conducive to this show. In LA, everybody kisses everybody's ass and WE NEED THE NEW YORK BITCHERY! If they do another season in LA I may stop watching altogether.

Nina and Michael...duh!

I love Nina. Michael. Heidi. all the Magical Elves. Alex. TLo. Tim Gunn. Santino. Collier Strong the makeup guru. That crazy redhead model Amanda. Ulli! Hell, I even miss Wendy Pepper...Don't want any of it to change, ever. We need everybody in this parade.

I like the reasoning that the show was in limbo so they limped on with what they could reasonably do.

No more talk of auf'ing anyone. Except Mr. Crybaby. I am OVER him.

Miss Crissy's staying.

Tim warned us that she's a weeper, but she actually seems to be rather sweet, funny, and the other designers like her.

Besides, she looks like Eric Bana with a tad of Colin Farrell, but with better waxed brows.

I miss Michael & Nina but want Heidi to stay. I say, move back to New York where this show needs to be and get everyone back in their places!

It's difficult to choose because they all add something unique. Ultimately, I think it's just unfair to the designers to have no consistency in the judging. When Kors and Garcia were there week after week, they could spot designers who were constantly trying to pull of the same thing, etc., and choose the offing (aufing) accordingly. I think they kinda sorta should have figured this snafu out before going into production, no?

"hello"

I HATE heidi as a host. ughh
