I'm sick to death of Tim Burton, but that Atelier Versace dress is gorgeous.

Did Givenchy hire Sissy Bear?

This is awesome!

(also, Halloween is clearly the only time those lacy bunny ears work)

This is disgusting! I LOVE IT!!! :D That is amazing!

Tim Burton + Fashion = Fabulous!

The Versace dress is GORGEOUS!!!

FashionFanatic nailed it.

This is beautifully put together.

Tim Burton=treat.

Most of the clothes=trick.

I LOVE this. What a perfect Halloweenesque spread. :)

I love it! I can never have enough Burton

Yeah, but who did the mummy wrap doll outfit? GORGEOUS.

bitchybitchybitchy

Well, I'm just going to paraphrase Scarlett O'Hara: As God is my witness, in my next life I'm going to wear only Atelier Versace!"

Love, love, love that first dress!

Love them. I wish people really dressed like this.

So do we know if Tim actually picked out the clothes or if someone else picked out the clothes and he just styled the shoot around them?

What's funny is that Alexander McQueen's evil clown face is more frightening than Tim Burton's white-washed zombie face.

Holy cow. Fantastic editorial, for entertainment purposes. Not so much for pushing clothes - I think only one look was improved in the editorial - the furry Givenchy dress was MADE by the addition of the equally furry hat, I thought.

Gorgeous dresses and interesting styling, but unfortunately I couldn't stop thinking of Marilyn Manson.

Awesome!!!

What a treat! I love Tim Burton.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Looking at the credits, he wasn't hands on, just let them use his name/trademark style. I suppose he may have retained some editorial input/approval rights since his name's in the title - has anyone read anything elsewhere that would indicate how that works in this case?
Not a fan of the Givenchy or the McQueen, but the Versace is absolutely stunning.
What a fabulous way to combine film and fashion.
LOL. I agree.
Maybe it's a bit of my love for anything weirdly Halloween, but I absolutely LOVE this spread!!!
Thank you so much for sharing, TLo!!
Thanks, guys, looks like you had an incredibly busy weekend.
I love this spread. I even love the Dolce & Gabbana because it's perfect for theis piece.
mwah!
Anon 10:04: Did Givenchy hire Sissy Bear?
Exactly what I thought! But is it human hair?
Fabulous spread, the clothes are as freaky as the styling.
I'm such a die-hard Tim Burton fan; this is WONDERFUL.
I love this spread. It's so perfectly high fashion and so very Burtonesque. However, the shoes that gothic bunny girl is wearing really scare me, and not in a fun Halloweeny way.
IS THIS REAL LIFE??
Those shoes... those creepy ass shoes.
I don't know whether I love it or hate it yet. I like the first dress a lot though.
Love this editorial! Kudos to the team at HB for putting it together.
mll (another lulu)
bitchybitchybitchy got off the BEST line:
Well, I'm just going to paraphrase Scarlett O'Hara: As God is my witness, in my next life I'm going to wear only Atelier Versace!"
Now this is inspired. There really ought to be a fashion horror film!
LOVE THIS!!! (and I'm not a big Halloween/TB fan)
Looks like Givenchy ripped off sissy bear with the hair dress!! Go Sissy Bear!
And this is why I check out TLo on an almost hourly basis when I am at work...for the joy of getting to consume mass quantities of fashion in every shape and form!!
Love this!!!
LOVE!
That is all.
Do my eyes deceive me or is that Tim Burton under the freaky Santa suit?
They tore Chris March a new one when he used hair. they said there was too much of it. They were grossed out by the humanity of it all ... and I have been keeping an eye on the runways since and guess what! Hair, lots of hair, orange hair, black hair, purple hair, hair hats, costumey hair, hair on pocket books and hair on shoes. No one complains, on the contrary they comment about how innovative it all looks.
Oh well, one day you are IN and the next day you are OUT. Chris should have been in THIS season, then, like all of them he could be a follower instead of an innovator.
LOVE. Every day should be Halloween! The only thing I really don't like is the McQueen 'Goth Big Bird' thing.
I love it...duh! It's like a fashion fanfic!
Squee!
How fun.
Except for that creepy McQueen model black bird dress thing....the makeup makes me think of the movie Hellraiser.
Besides that, it is an great spread and I love the Lydia Deetz/Edward Scissorhands take off in the 4th picture.
Serenity Now, I think you might be right about who's in the Santa suit.
Love it all, but I'm curious about the shoes in the bunny ears picture. They are to DIE!
OK, now I get it. (I think.)
I LOVE THIS -- so fun and silly to look at! I'm not even analyzing the fashions because they are mostly lost in translation. Just Tim Burton being Tim Burton -- cannot take any part of this seriously. If anyone was hoping to catch my attention, they succeeded big time! If they were hoping to persuade me to buy something, it was wasted $$$.
Thanks for blogging a photo shoot - love it! Although four photos in the middle (from the lacy tights to the bunny ear shot) were misses in my book, the rest were fabulous!
They're from the Nina Ricci fall 2009 collection.
If you can afford any of these couture looks, you and I need to get to know each other better! ;D
Look it's Lady Gaga's fall wardrobe!
How cool a name is Malgosia Bela?
Reminds me of Bela Lugosi, which reminds me of.....
well, you bitches know!!
OMG, it worked. My first html tag.
I am a nerd. Sorry ;-o
So much fun!
I really love the Oscar de la Renta and the Nina Ricci.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing this. I love that most of them have a stormy skies background, as well. That must've been a difficult shoot, but they did an amazing job of it.
LOVE YOU for posting this Tim Walker spread - his photographs are always amazing, no exception here.
Nina Ricci hoove heelless shoes. Want. Now.
Very, very fun. Would have been MORE fun with Helena Bonham Carter as the model, but we can't have everything in life.
I adore these clothes.
I also want to point out that I have always believed that Chris March was straight up robbed from the PR win, and I keep seeing more and more evidence of that. He set a trend that year, and now everyone is snagging his work.
I screamed "Chris March!" Anonymous 11:22, while I agree with your assessment of this season's caliber, I doubt Chris will EVER be a follower.
And I loathe that the judges didn't get his vision. Indeed, where are Rami's drapes & folds NOW?
I find it amusing that the McQueen piece looks more frightening on the runway than it does in the editorial.
Chris March rip off! So wrong!
Again wit the shoes? Just stop, designers!
Not a Tim Burton fan but liked the photo shoot.
Gorgeous!!
Can't stop looking at the Versace dress. To. Die.
Amazing!!! And I can't wait to see his new movie.
With the exception of the Givenchy Hair Dress and the Alexander McQueen muppet outfit, I love it all.
The red Nina Ricci is sublime.
Wonderful photos-as-photos, crazy beautiful fashion as fabric art, but then my obsession kicks in and I wonder where the rose field is (although my favorite is the model sitting in a puff of golden ragwort, close to perfection as an art photo).
Is the location of this shoot known?
Yup, Chris March was robbed. At the LEAST, he should have been second, ahead of Jillian, who I love, and Rami the Serial Drapist, who I couldn't stand. He may have had even more vision that PPS.
This actually got my mom interested in Fashion. I had my copy of the magazine and she has to just go through all of my mail... and she saw this... and was like "It's so interesting and different" and I was like "No not really..." but it made her have an interest in fashion and stuff like that...
Plus I love Tim Burton.
Am I crazy or is the top of that Atelier Versace dress very similar to the dress January Jones wore to the Emmy's. And I swear Madonna recently wore the D & G somewhere.
Hi MyFawny,
Both dresses are part of the Atelier Versace fall 2009 collection, which we'll be posting on the blog ASAP.
LOVE.
Although Mariacarla could have taken this to another whole level.
In case anyone is interested the Givenchy dress is made of goat hair embroidered on to tulle. According to Style.com Tisci was ispired by Schiaparelli, who used long furs in her collection many long time before Chris March was born.
I seriously doubt he has ever heard of Project Runway or Chris March.
I love how my favorite fashion blog and my favorite scifi news site has the same article. That intersection needs to happen more often.
Helena would look fab in any of these, wouldn't she?
Thanks, TLo!
Gawd, I was in dire need of FUN this mornin'.
This is my kind of fashion shoot.
I just asked about Sissy Bear in jest. Thanks for taking it so seriously.
LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!! The sharp reds and such in contrast with the background is stunning! Very Burtonesque.
The creepy 10ft. marionette skeleton was awsome too!
If ever there were a time for broken doll modeling, here it is.
Burton's world is a perfect mesh for much of what wanders down the runway.
I love it!
LOVED every single aspect of this. Thank you TLo for putting a big smile on my face!!!
~L
I stopped giving a shit about the Tim Burton aesthetic a while ago, but this editorial's still pretty fabulous.
Nice Halloween costumes.
honesty.not.pc
This is like all of my favorite things mashed into one spectacular post.
Thank you boys, you made my super shitty day just a little bit brighter :)
This was absolutely the most divine mixture of eye candy. I love the styling. It's fun and playful yet beautiful and intriguing.
is it me or does Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci Fall 2009 Collection
look a little like hair and the last person i saw trying hair was Mr Chris March
I want the skeleton!
Is the Goth Bunny wearing boxing gloves?
I love the Chanel though it doesn't stand out in this crowd.
The McQueen is the creepiest of all.
fashionablylate
This is very cool :)
The Tao Comme des Garcons dress reminds me of one by Isabel Toledo on the cover of Steele's latest book.
Where can I get that skeleton?
And thank you Tim for your fashion suggestions. I think I'll go orange for winter.
No one can deny the precious genius of the original darkness in Tim Burton. I never have seen this approach to the odd side of life with such delicate and well-thinked touch. I absolutly love to have those dresses and wear them no-matter-what.
Fabulous!!!
