Kid Rock in Joe Faris

Labels: ,
So who dropped us a line the other day? Why, it was S5 Project Runway designer Joe Faris, who's been keeping himself quite busy.

"Hi Tom and Lorenzo,

Just wanted to send you some pix of the leather shirt I made for Kid Rock, his peeps called me a few days before the concert in Detroit at Comerica Park and asked if I could put something together and when I gave it to them they told me that if he likes it he will wear it. He came out first song wearing the shirt in front of 40,000 people, Amazing!

Hope all is well. I can't wait for all your new blogs about PR6.

Joe"

We have to say, while it's not something we could get away with wearing, it is a pretty cool looking shirt. Not to mention perfectly executed.

Joe is also organizing the event Fashion in Detroit on October 1st and 2nd, 2009.

"Fashion In Detroit is a bi-annual two-day fashion event created by Project Runway’s Joe Faris to put a fashion spotlight on Detroit and create a venue that fills the needs of many locally based designers and the Detroit fashion community. "

Rock on, Joe!

Yay! I LOVED Joe! He seemed like he was pretty cool guy on the show.

And scheduling a Detroit Fashion Show??? ROCK ON, INDEED!

perfect shirt for kid rock.

you gotta love joe, nice guy.

Uh...there's a fashion community in Detroit?

Joe may not be to everyone's taste, but he does have an eye, and what he does he does very very well.

It's always nice when PR contestants are good sports about the stuff that gets said here - nice guy indeed. And I'm currently saving my pennies to buy one of the toggle sweaters or maybe the duck cloth parka from Schott (his employer). Might not be couture, but definitely covetable.

Now this is how you promote mass mrket RTW.

Yay Joe!!!!!!!

LOL, TLO your tag says Chris Rock and not Kid Rock.

Aww it's so sweet that the Detroit community is so supportive of each other.

Picture #2 is great, I hope it becomes one of Kid Rock's most memorable pictures... although the Janice Dickinson in me wishes that that his feet weren't amputated.

Don't mess with the D, dudes!

I like the idea of a fashion show.

After suffering through a crooked mayor, Eminem and a BAD Football season, they need something positive to get their minds around.

(I always like to rib the neighbors up north)

Is this a shirt or a jacket?

Either way, it looks great for the Kid and dresses him up quite nicely.

Beautifully tailored and styled.

Love the shirt, but it seems like a really bad idea for stage apparel! Can you imagine how much you'd sweat in that thing under the hot lights, running around and dancing? Don't want to know what it smelled like afterward...

Joe is such a nice guy. I ran into him one and he was so sweet. Glad he's doing great!

Love the shirt, my boyfriend would look hot in it :)

Perfect look for the client.

I love it when contestants go on to do good things for themselves. =)

I love Kid Rock. He's had a song or two I like but it's his personality and keeping it real. He's a good father and supports our troops. He's traveled overseas and given concerts where the troops are in Iraq and Afghanistan. Can't be all bad, Pamela A. notwithstanding.

Mariana (The Unoriginal)

Very cool!

Why does the Kid always look like he needs a shower or ten?

Good for Joe! To paraphrase The Duchess, it's the right shirt on the right guy.

Can't say I'm a fan of Kid Rock, but good for Joe! His clothes seem to fit KR's asthetic perfectly.

EspeciallyGay

Cool!

Great look for Kid Rock! I always thought that Joe was perfect for designing things like these.

Good job Joe - and not just the shirt, but in drawing attention to his work when the work is actually very well done.

As opposed to calling attention to one's work when it is just o.k., or downright rushed and sloppy looking.

Naming no names.

But they've been featured here.

Past Joe, you rock!

That could be anyone!

While leather won't 'breathe' the way cotton will, it still is basically the hide of a cow--with pores and as such does allow for some 'natural ventilation'. That is if it hasn't been overproccessed with dye and stain resistant chemicals that clog the pores. If Joe used a really good grade of leather, top of the hide, no splits, the shirt should be fairly comfortable even under hot lights.

I am impressed--
right design for the right client.

Good job Joe, and good luck with Detroit's Fashion Show.

Good for Joe!!!

Thanks for the update, guys! Joe is so cool.

Oh, I love Kid Rock!!!

Great work, I also like his work with jeans from his final collection. I'll do my best to attend the event, there's not much fashion stuff going on around here and I'm glad Joe Faris is doing something about it.

Looking at Kid Rock, I'm guessing he's not bothered by hygienic compromises.

Anyway, as a Detroit boy who always roots for straight guys in the fashion industry, I love Joe; And as someone who enjoy a smattering of badass in his fashion, I love this shirt.

When Joe was on the show and the barbs were coming at him like he was a pristine St. Sebastian in need of becoming truly holey, I went to check out this 'Schott' company that he designs for.

And I ended up dropping over a thousand $$ at the site over a couple of months.

He's very, very good at the Schott look and the clothes are well-made, well-tailored and well-worth every penny and will last and be classically fantastic for years. 'Course it helps that I really don't mind getting mens' sizing if I like a particular style. My closet seems to be half 'boyfriend x'-type apparel, anyway.

What's funny is that he's certainly the only PR designer I've ever spent any large amount of money on (I just *had* to grab Jay's weekend bowling ball bag but that was only $75) and yet he doesn't even rank in my top 10 PR designers.

But, damned, I buy a lot of his designs. Weird, that.

I wish him much luck in the future and will invariably end up dropping some more $$ on his endeavors.

Hate Kid Rock. And I grew up over there. Anyway. Good for Joe, glad to see him doing well.

bitchybitchybitchy

Very cool shirt-and I still get such a kick out of remembering Joe with Varla Jean's boobs last season.

What a sweet guy to be looking forward to TLo's blog of PR6!

This is great!!! Go Joe!!! : )

Yep, that's where we're from. Detwa, founded by the French, built on the model of Paris, it is a circle with spokes of a wheel coming out (the main streets). We love it, and the people here are very friendly & basically hip. Any help regarding clothes is wanted & needed.

Good job, Joe & the Kid.

Barb H

I hope Joe wore some surgical gloves when fitting him, I'm just saying.

Love the chain detail on the back and on the pocket.

Perfect outfit for Kid Rock!

I met Joe Faris at Bryant Park thanks to Tlo and the finale show ticket contestant and he went on and on about how much he loved the blog and Alex's drawings.

Perfect shirt, perfectly done, for the right client. Well done, Joe.

You can buy a near-identical shirt on sale now for only $350!

^ and if you look at the reviews section of the page, there is a comment from "Kid R." - LOL.

Since I can't tell many people this IRL, I'll confess it here...I think Kid Rock is verrry sexy.

I have no idea why.

Anywho -- Yay for Joe! I always did like him, and thought his final collection should have been top 3.

I was part of a marriage equality rally outside Bryant Park last March and who should come sign his support but Joe Faris? Instantly liked him after that.

Good man, good work. Keep it up Joe, hope you dress more rockers than the Angry Little Peanut.

Congratulation to Joe.
Well done.
