Project Runway: All-Star Sneak Peek

They don't offer much in the way of spoilers, but for the PR-starved, they're certainly fun to look at.

You can see more pictures of the Project Runway All-Star Challenge here. Let the speculation begin!

Is that Mountaha? And did Korto loose weight?

Yes, that's Mountaha. Yeah!!!!!

Fucking awesome, guys!!!

Oh this is so cool, god, I miss the show so much.

It looks like they're having a great time. I can't wait!!!

Jeffrey looks like a 70's porn star.

Chris March is adorable. I can't wait to hear him laugh.

Korto looks fabulous, I think she lost weight. I love her dress too.

TIM GUNN!!!!!

That is sooooo cool. Will we see Salome too? She was my favorite.

LifeTimeForHomos

This looks great. I'm doing my Happy Dance!! Thank you for the update, guys.

i can't wait to find out what they have to create. no "real woman" thank god.

No team challenge, please.

It'll be cool to see how designers from different seasons interact together. No cliques, I hope.

I'm confused about the picture where all the designers look delighted except for korto, who has her arm protectively around sweet p.

Hmmmmm.

Did they just find out that Santino is team leader or something? LOLOLOL

Wow, Korto looks fantastic!

I hope Uli wins, her collection was beautiful, it's a shame she didn't win. Thanks for the pics, Tlo!

I can almost hear Tim saying, "Designers, gather around, please."

Why is Chris March there? The other designers were finalists, or at least talented. Chris made a lot of tacky costumes. He is only there as a "fan favorite" (or they couldn't find anyone better that was willing to do the show) and not because he deserves to be.

It served to whet my appetite for sure.

"Anonymous said...

Sweet P was neither a finalist nor talented. Sweet, but definitely not one of the most talented ones.

I'm glad he's there. It'll help me digest the "Project Runway All-LA" crowd.

This is fun. F-U-N fun!

I think Daniel V. will be the winner.

Looks like a very fun reunion! And MOUNTAHA! OMG, I LOVE MOUNTAHA.

Are they all using gray fabric?

I vote for Korto!

Some contestants were more popular than others. A lot of people wanted Uli dresses, and a lot of people loved the charm of Chris March, even though he wasn't actually a finalist. Sweet P does fashion reporting for MTV, which makes her popular with the younger set.

I'm sure it also depended on who PR could get to RETURN for a reunion show: Chris March, Sweet P, Jeffrey, and Santino aren't exactly in the fashion limelight regardless of what place they won in PR. 99% of this has to do with publicity, and which designers felt they needed it. Last I heard, Jeffrey was really hurting for money.

"Sewdiva said...Wow, Korto looks fantastic!"

You should be glad she watches what she eats.

Yup.

There's always someone we wish they had included, but I'm sure they got whoever was available and/or wanted to do this. I'll be happy to see Uli, Korto, and Chris again.

Sweet Pea, while she had some spectacular failures (menswear challenge, art inspiration challenge), also made a lot of really cute, commercial dresses (avant garde challenge, Levi's challenge). Chris March made human hair dresses, green leopard bikinis, Parisian whore outfits and Norma Desmond upholstered shrug jacket stage costumes. Not even in the same league. Let's face it, as much as everyone likes him because he is funny and is a teddy bear, he really did not design much of any note.

I agree that it would be a really, really, really bad idea to have a team challenge, but......it would be cool to see a collaboration between Uli and Korto.

True, but the producers would never pair them together, they would go for drama like pairing them with Jeffrey or Santino. But you know what? That would awesome because we know Korto doesn't take crap from anybody. LOL

Awesome!!

Mountaha is a great model, I can't wait to see what Chris is making for her.

Wow, Korto looks AMAZING.

I'm kind of rooting for Korto and Uli as I really liked both their final collections even though they lost (can't say the same about any of the other runner ups).

No one will have a bigger ego than Santino, well, maybe Jeffrey. Will La Nina put him in his place again? Watch what happens!

Oh, YAY.

And while I am perfectly happy if the primary criteria for selecting contestants "people the viewers would like to see who can fit it into their schedules," I also wouldn't cite Chris March as the weakest link here, in the time-challenged context of the show. I liked Sweet Pea, but her work was uneven and boring, while I thought Chris' was uneven and interesting (of course, I'm biased, as I loved the Edwardian-era vibe of his "human hair" dresses.)

I really, really can't wait to see if Jeffrey still seems as annoying and as modestly talented as he did last time around.

Lord, what if he lost his standing as the PR contestant I most love to hate?

I can wait to watch Heidi saying "Jeffrey, I'm sorry but you are out." what should have happened years ago. Uli was robbed!

YAY! If only they could have gotten Andre, too... I love Andre. And to think that Jeffrey is having money problems... could it be that his supporters have found him abrasive and took off?? NO.

Korto does look great, but that blue dress is not doing good things for her. The asymmetry of the top really makes it look like her boobs are different sizes. If only the two sides matched, she'd look so much better.

(I may have a minor obsession with boobs. I admit it.)

I agree, Summer. Pick a style!

Oh, Mychael Knight! I love the dorky fade! Only you could pull it off and look so adorable!

And let me add...

I hope this show plays out like Top Chef Masters has: good-natured competition between peers. I really don't want any drama or bitchiness (that's aimed at you, TALP).

Summer's comments about Korto's dress notwithstanding, I love the color combination of that particular blue with the orange and yellow. Gorgeous. After TFS's season of blah, it's so great to see colorful clothing again.

I wish they would have added Austin Scarlett!

Matter of fact, why are there NO season 1 contestants? :-((

OK, peeps...let's consider this a dress rehearsal (pardon the pun) for the next season. Some of the trolls are already back. Let's not feed them!!!

I'll be intrigued to see where all the designers are at with their development and creativity. And I can't wait to hear the Chris March chuckle again!

"agnes gooch said...

Exactly! Well said, Agnes Gooch.

Hopefully this will be sooooo good!

I am looking forward to it.

I agree with Susan- the Top Chef Masters have been so wonderful with their teamwork! It would be fantastic to see that sort of helpful cooperation with these contestants. I just really don't see that happening! Not with Santino vs. Jeffrey's egos- who will win in this battle of titans...

I can hardly wait to hear Chris March's laugh again! And Santino imitating Tim Gunn! Each person in this challenge is not shy about expressing him/herself, which should make for great entertainment.

This crowd is such a wacky combination of personalities that the designers could even end up singing light opera together while they're working.

While I think everyone is certainly entitled to like or dislike whoever they wish, I should point out to the person who feels Chris lacks any fashion talent, that Mr March created that gorgeous plum gown during the first challenge during S4. he also made that elegant dress for the hershey's challenge that the judges declared could be worn off the runway. He was equally responsible for the avantgarde dress with Christian and made a nearly equal dramatic dress for the museum challenge. And that "green bikini" was in sync with the challenge. And his Menswear outfit was certainly way superior to Sweet P's. Yes Chris is primarily a costume designer and he made some clunkers but he also made some gorgeous clothes that was highly praised by the judges.

The man is not exactly hurting for work since he was already successful at what he does. It's likely he's doing this for fun. If you don't like him as a contestant or a designer that's fine but a strong case can still be made that he has produced outifts that was strongly received

Personally with the exception of Jeffrey (since he already won) I see nothing wrong with these people as the allstar contestants. They have all at some point during their seasons shown to have produced some lovely outfits either during the competition and/or at Bryant Park. And I too hope this is all done in the spirit of fun

Personally I think Santino will likely scale it back a bit since he's already seen how obnoxious he can come across

Frank

I'M GOING TO KORTO'S SHOW IN CHARLOTTE ON AUG 6TH!! Can't wait I'm so stoked! Sorry but I really do love most of these designers!

Did you look at the photos on Lifetime? Michael looks so grown up. :)

Uh, what kind of Photoshop craziness did they do on Heidi in the 17th photo? Her hands, ears, hair all look really weird.

@ Amy said:

I know!!! She looks like an alien! That hairdo already isn't doing her an favors.

I have to say though that the rest of the contestants are all looking really great (well, I can't tell about Jeffery and that creature attached to his mouth). If you just look at the individual pictures, especially the picture of Uli, they look really fantastic. I guess it's becuase their not trapped in a building with a bunch of "edgy" people working on only 3 hours of sleep a day.

MOUNTAHA!!!!!!!!!

looking at this and thinking of PRs past got me really nostalgic for season 1... holy cow was that eons ago. i could really go for watching some season 2 as well, daniel completely stole my heart.

i'd be tremendously satsified if he, uli, or korto won this. odds are pretty good, i think.

oh and that 'stache jeffrey's rockin desperately needs to go somewhere and never come back.

This is SO exciting!!
I know people say Sweet P isn't all that talented, but she designed one of the dresses I remember most from any of the challenges in any of the seasons (the Levi's jeans challenge). I LOVE that dress. Plus, Sweet is a sweetie.
Can't wait to hear Chris' wonderful laugh, see what kind of prints Uli will be using, enjoy Korto's and Mychael's fab designs, see what Daniel is up to and see Mountaha, my favorite of any of the MMAS models. I'm even a little excited to see if Santino does any impressions.
Who I am not in any way excited to see or hear is Jeffrey. I would have rather seen ANYONE else, even Wendy Pepper!

This is going to be one 2hr long special, right? That explains how some of them could have found the time to do it. I wonder what the challenge will be.
I guess any of them could win (depending on the challenge) because each of them has won an individual challenge.

Frank-

Your posts are always so calm and logical. I imagine them spoken in a NPR voice.

Sweet P never won a challenge.

Gotta take up for Sweet P. She is a very talented mi-price point bridgewear designer. On the Avant Guard challenge the judges loved her RTW retail look. She can sew. I think she will do well.

Ah, Korto and Mychael in the same room.

My two all-time favorites. I can't wait!

Oh, and I LOVE Danny V!
And Sweet P!
And Chris March!
And ULI!

I don't care who wins, as long as it isn't slimy tattoo neck boy.

I agree, I thought her "The Art of Fashion" dress was beautiful, very Prada-esque. I wanted it.

I'm VERY excited to see them back. It'll be fun to see them working together again. I think they're all talented in their own way.

YES!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

I'm really wondering what is all of the rage over Sweet P?

Maybe she wasn't into OTT fashion like Christian or Chris, but she's hardly untalented.

I could see how her lack of confidence on the show turned off some viewers, but she did make clothing that could've gotten her a win, and she DID save Golden Boy Rami's ass even when he was a complete jerk to her. She deserves as much of a shot as anyone else in this competition.

ANYONE who managed to get on the show in the first place deserved a shot. Even Blayne.

It was probably Jeffrey calling Santino and Sweet P, "Do you want to do it? I'll do it if you do it. OK."

OK, you had me until you mentioned Blayne. That boy has NO TALENT and a lot of other designers out there tried, were never called so that we could have our LICIOUS.

Geez, I even welcome seeing the return of Santino.

Watch him open his mouth and completely ruin the effect.

How can I win you back? ;0)

I was never a complete Blayne fan myself. But the way I see it, if Tim&Co. thought that any of these guys were worth a shot, I'm willing to give them a chance.

Call me a lemming, but I'm not very likely to disagree with Tim on these matters.

I'm not trying to start a fight, but what "rage" are you talking about? Simply stating your dislikes doesn't equal "rage." People are just stating their opinions. Some people think she's not talented and shouldn't be on the show. I happen to disagree with them, but I see no rage here.

Whatevs, dude. I'm not getting into semantics.

You don't like them, fine. Good. Great. Fantastic.

bitchybitchybitchy

I'm so looking forward to this, I can tolerate Jeffrey for one night.

Some posters have mentioned they would have liked to see Austin Scarlett participate. I wonder if he's too busy with the bridal design work that he's doing?

I'm happy we're getting more PR, I don't care who's doing it.

Korto looking smoking hot :)

You go, girl!

.

1. The plum dress was nothing I haven't seen 1,000 times before come prom season.

2. The Hershey's dress was cute but hardly elegant, it didn't win, and if he had made it for a non-Hershey's related challenge it would not have gotten the praise it did.

3. He was equally responsible for the execution of the avant garde dress, but let's face, it was Christian's design. It looked like everything he made all season, and nothing like anything Chris made. Plus Chris's museum dress was WAY too similar to be unconscious or a coincidence.

4. Green bikini was in sync with the challenge, fine...but the tackiest challenge was also the only thing he won. Shock.

5. No one argued Sweet P didn't bite the big one on the menswear challenge. Not sure how that makes Chris a better designer or his outfit good.

I heard some of the designers approached were a little worried about having to deal with Santino again.

There's definitely a place in fashion for Sweet P and Chris, even if you don't appreciate their aesthetic. Not everything has to be PPS Pouf Stravaganza and they all designed crappy things on the show at some point or another, no exceptions.

I love all of them. Hands down - egos or no egos. Without the designers personalities (abrasive or not), we wouldn't see the collections we saw. It's that simple.

If Santino does his Tin Gunn impression, it will make my life.

I'm not going to lie, I can't wait to see Santino back. It won't be a dull episode, that's for sure. "I can't stand the sound of her voice" will never be forgotten.

The difference is some people designed 5% crap and some people designed 90% crap. Costume design is not the same thing as fashion.

How did you break this down into percentages? Just curious.

I agree with Jess. I love them all!

Really looking forward to this! THANK YOU Tlo, for the updates!! What would we do without your fabulous blog? Can't wait to see how you cover this one!!

Well, I didn't do a scientific study, if that's what you mean, lol. I'm not MouseAnony. Suffice to say, I meant that some people designed crap almost their entire run on the show, while some made it through with only one or two clunkers. Obviously. It's certainly not as easy as saying "Oh, well, no one was consistent." Please.

Aw, man. You all have me hoping for a team challenge just on the off chance that I will get to see Korto issue a serious smack down on Jeffrey.

Please?

I have to admit that would be sweet. My money would be on Korto

ULI! Korto! Chris March! Daniel V! And the others! (my personal ranking made obvious.) Should be fun.

I for one would love to see Santino and Jeffrey get teamed on something so that all their worst unfettered impulses would be encouraged. God knows, it might be spectacularly ugly, but it would be spectacular.

YES!!!! Korto would rip him a new one. Who doesn't want to see that happen?

Of COURSE Korto would prevail. She's not a pushover like Angela. Jeffrey is a bully, and in typical bully fashion, would NOT mess with someone who could take him on.

Remeber, he never messed with Mychael.

I'm rooting for Uli : )

I hope Korto wins this time. She wanted it so badly. By the way, the PR season 6 designers must be pissed, these all-stars guys are going to the get the same amount of money? Do you think it's fair? I don't.

GO SANTINO!!!!!

I was not a fanatical Uli fan, but for some reason seeing her in the group perked me up. I hope Kors is decent to her this go round.

"a said...

I want Uli to win, she had the best collection by far but they had to giev it to Jeffrey. Argh.

Chris + Mountaha = priceless.

If I were Jeffrey I'd be embarrassed if I didn't win. I mean, you're the winner of season 3 and now you're going to be the loser?

I just wished they had someone from season 1 represented in the group. I can understand Wendy Pepper turning it down, but what about Austin or Kara Saun??

Isabella

Well, that win was questionable. But no matter, he got the money and the Saturn the first time around. I'm sure in his own head he feels that he has nothing left to prove.

I am so excited to see Uli and Korto. I loved their clothes and I thought they were great people. I am getting married in November. I was talking about bridemaids dresses with my fiance (whom I force to watch PR with me) and he said 'We should get them Uli dresses'. But I haven't seen where I can buy her stuff. I am not sure about Korto either.

This is something to highlight a dreary day! Can't wait!

i want korto's dress. hurray for more chris march in my life - i adore him to pieces & wish he had his own show. (can we at least get him on rupauls drag race?) im already ughing over having to look at jeffrey :P same goes for daniel v (i was never really a fan, sorry). and double hurray for a santino/tim reunion! i only wish we could have gotten someone from season 1. ill trade you wendy "crazyface" pepper for jeffrey!

gotta say - a lot of my favs are on this & im looking forward to seeing more from them. i wish it was more than one episode.

oh to have been a fly on the wall at that dinner party.... *sigh* i need my project runway fix!

I'm giddy! :D

I want Uli to win, she had the best collection by far but they had to giev it to Jeffrey. Argh.

Uli's great sin was that she made clothes women want to wear. Need one say more?

For some reason, I always thought Korto was heavier than she actually was. Then I would see her and think just what people are saying, "Did she lose weight?" I'm not sure she did--she just always looks smaller than I (we?) remember her.

At least they didn't do what "Survivor: All Stars" did, and have people who got eliminated early in their seasons. Of course, one of them almost won it all (Rob).

At least Chris and Sweet P both showed at Bryant Park. As decoys, but still...

And "All-Star" implies the best of the best, so I don't think it's out of line to have included Jeffrey.

Pic #3 is a RIOT!

Can Korto, Mychael and Santino look any more chill?

And a DINNER PARTY WITH TIM GUNN!!!!

I would've sold my firstborn to be there.

PeterThePan at 11:42 AM said... I can understand Wendy Pepper turning it down, but what about Austin or Kara Saun??

As Creative Director of Kenneth Poole isn't Austin hot stuff, he is more PR judge material these days... which come to think of it, he actually was a PR guest judge. Has he turned 25 yet?

Anonymous at 1:50 PM said... Uli's great sin was that she made clothes women want to wear. Need one say more?

Does that mean that she should have saved herself for The Fashion Show :-D?

Oh yes A, because Kenneth Poole is a dynamic powerhouse in the industry, and Austin Scarlett is solely responsible for its sucess. *snort*

For as much as I really didn't like Santino in his season, I'm looking forward to this and seeing if he applies what he learned about "playing nice." I'll bet he has.

That said, I will be gobsmacked if Jeffrey has learned a damn thing.

Why they included who they included: so people will watch the show! Whether you find Sweet P talented or Chris March or whomever else, they are well liked and that makes them worth watching.
Although, for the record, I think Chris March is talented in costume making and can make some great every day clothing, when he tones it done just a little.

Well, at least we have one thing going for us:

It will be a fleurchon free episode.

Woo -- Mountaha! I can't wait to see Uli and Sissybear. I'm not looking forward to Jeffrey, though. I mean, I'll be curious to see his clothes, but is it possible to just baste his mouth shut?

I seriously cannot wait.

OH MY GOD!!! I was like "Ah! That's Mountaha" And then had an evil grin crack my face as I thought Lifetime was dangerously eating up some of the most succesful shows from Bravo... Honestly, I would watch made-for-tv sobfest on Lifetime than Obnoxious Housewives of Prep school with no class ANYDAY!!

I am really looking forward to this, especially seeing Uli and Korto.

And speaking of Korto, earlier this month I treated myself to an early birthday gift when I purchased her purple and green floral, leafy necklace. It is absolutely STUNNING.

"Gracie said..."I'm confused about the picture where all the designers look delighted except for korto, who has her arm protectively around sweet p."

Korto appears to be giving Jeffrey a death-stare. I sense tension. As someone else said, it's unlikely that he's learned anything. Cheri

I'm really looking forward to this show!!! TIM, HEIDI, Mychael, Chris, Korto, AND, I luv Mountaha. The only one I could care less about is Jeffrey. Blech. Let's just see what a gentleman he's hopefully become.

momica in ca

PS: reminds me of TOP CHEF MASTERS. YEAH!

Why is Chris March there? The other designers were finalists, or at least talented. Chris made a lot of tacky costumes. He is only there as a "fan favorite" (or they couldn't find anyone better that was willing to do the show) and not because he deserves to be."

In my humble view, Chris should have been a finalist over the Serial Drapist Rami. Chris made two of the most spectacular gowns ever seen on Project Runway, plus that awesome Hersheys dress, and I think his hair/safety pin dress was incredible. All sorts of designers used hair this year on the runway, so I guess they all have been hanging out in the Monkey House. Don't forget when Roberto Cavalli said Chris March was the most artistic of them all, and should have a haute couture show in Paris someday.

So I think Chris SHOULD be there. Plus, he was a wonderful guy with an awesome laugh!!!!

I just think this is going to be a hoot! I am happy to see them all, with the exception of angry little peanut. Even Santino, who was a jerk at times, was at least funny and fun, and occasionally self-deprecating, not constantly sour and mean like Jeffrey.

I almost didn't recognize Micheal- Mr. Suave! I am thrilled to see Uli, Korto, Chris, and many of the others. Good luck, all-stars. I am missing my sweet southern boy Kayne, though. And I truly miss seeing Miss Scarlett.

ANYONE of them can win this. This is like The Big Chill of PR. Hum. One thing - what's with this Chris March bashing? What is there to bash? An underdog making it into double over time? What is wrong with that? I loved his attitude, spirit and SOMETIMES what he designed. He evolved. His overt drag/costume background cast a pall on him not unlike Reco and the strippers. All about the same thing. Earning a paycheck. Chris March's dream he said, would be to work for John Galliano. What's not to appreciate? Chris is a star himself, just not sure if it's the star unicornious, Star Jones, or star of no compere. I only luvs him & wish him happiness. Strong LIKE for the March man. He needs a guiding light in fashion, tho. I wish I had a boyfriend a lot like him.

Santino - I finally get who he reminded me of all the while - our dearly deparated Frank Zappa. A bit like him too. Creepy but nice.

Not enough diversity in this All Star group, but may the pain and drama be worth it to whoever pulls it off. Whomever does DESERVES IT.

That dress Korto is wearing in the first picture creates a major titscrepancy!

Sweet P, Uli, Chris March and little Mikey! Yippie!!
I hope Jeffrey has grown up since last we saw him.

OH MY GOD!!!!

I almost wet my pants when I read this!!!

It's so exciting!

I hope Uli wins, btw, she looks stunning on the lifetime page!!! ULI! ULI! ULI!

Love seeing little Danny V channelling his inner Ringo

Sissybear for the win.

"Yes Chris is primarily a costume designer and he made some clunkers but he also made some gorgeous clothes that was highly praised by the judges."

absolutely! totally agree with this comment. chris march really is talented. and roberto cavalli did say that he believed chris to be the most artistic designer in the museum challenge. imo, i believe that the judges were too harsh in regard to his designs. he really only hit a couple of sour notes in season 4.

it's good to see everyone again. hope they all kick ass and make their best clothes ever in the challenge. (even jeffrey. sorry, but i just could never muster up the energy to dislike him. and he had quite a few dresses that i would have loved to wear).

can't wait to see this episode and all of season 6.

p.s. how cute are korto and sweet-p? :)

hi barbh,

you know, i never made that connection, but now that you said it- he really does! the whole funny , curmudgeon/sweetheart in his vibe is totally there.

and, now "broken hearts are for assholes" is going to be stuck on loop in my head for days. lol!

Oye. No more about Korto losing weight. She's beautiful now and she was beautiful then.

Thank you there, Miz Diz. Pleased to meet you.

Uh, here's a match up from Avenger Hell: A team challenge, Wendy Pepper and Jeffrey, Team Hot Sauce. Ah well, such fun it would have been to watch.I think her black stripe would have lept to the other side of her uncolored white haired head and Jeffrey's neck ligature ink would have dried up spontaneously. I mean, we missed a good one there.

Or Austin Scarlett and Jerry Tam. Oh, the list goes on.

Korto looks fabs

Has Mychael had collagen lip injection thingie done?
I love Uli.
I wonder who'll judge?
What does the winner get?

Fun!!!! Cannot. wait. for PR.

I don't think ALP should be there, as he already won one of the seasons. It's not our problem he isn't as successful as he'd like.

The rest look like fun. Let's hope Santino reigns it in.
